Level 92 Smithing - Half way there :D
Woot! Half-way to 99 numba two! What plans do you have for the bars once you're finished? Crafting perhaps? Do you realize that 50k gold bars are worth about 6.8M on the open G.E.? Am I asking too many questions? Toast? :P The trip to see Cirque sounds incredible. I'm very jealous. Remember, what happens in Vegas...usually has a cream that can get rid of it.

Sadly I are not members... Early congrats though. =D>

How full is your bank?
65/68. That's usually where it sits because I've held on to each of my random outfits and holiday items. I really should at least get rid of the holiday stuff as it's really easy to get back.

No! Not PETA! If they get involved, RS will never be the same. :wall: Killing cows for meat is murder! Runscape condones the wholesale slaughter of innocent animals! <_<

Black Sheeps in Lumbridge
*ahem* I direct your attention to the first post I made in this thread... When I made further comments I had, apparently foolishly, assumed you had read the article and understood what was actually going on. And, I'm not entirely sure you were asking for the link between the quest and the message. You seemed pretty happy to argue in ignorance. Perhaps next time you decide to try and raise an issue like this, you'll exercise some personal initiative to find the facts before starting what was rapidly escalating into a racism flame war.

Wait. You started ranting on the racist overtones of the message without knowing any of the relevant context???? :wall: [hide=Really???] [/hide] Whether or not you asked for info about it here, you didn't go looking for info yourself? Like I said earlier, this update was posted right on the RS main page. How could anyone not know about it. I'm sorry, but people who complain first and get facts later are infuriating to no end.

Merching Clans are they acceptible?
ALL merchanting clans have advertisers so it's NOT a typo. I'd have to disagree with that. Also with the fact that advertisers = auto-typers. The only merchant clans I see with advertisers are the manipulation clans. That's because their success or failure in manipulating a price is primarily based around how many people they can get to purchase a single item. A proper clan has no need to do that because they're not trying to artificially inflate a price. Also, not every clan who advertises is using auto-typers. Several, if not most or even all, clans have someone who is charge of recruitment and that person needs to get the word out about their clan. Just look at the number of threads in the Clan Recruitment section of this very forum. Although I do agree that the ones who simply stand in the G.E. and spam the chat window are definitely using auto-typers, the generalization of a term is part of the reason that people are having difficulty telling the difference between proper merchants and manipulators.

As the wool from the black sheep is only used for the quest, it is necessary to distinguish them from the white sheep. Since the problem you're having is that you think the black sheep are being singled out, what would you suggest they do to correct this? Is there any message that points out that the black sheep cannot simply be sheared by anyone that you would not think has racist overtones? They are there for a specific reason, and I can't see any way of pointing out the fact that they are different without someone complaining that it's racist.

Maybe they should have made the sheep purple or something. Of course, then people would be complaining about how "unrealistic" they are and demanding that they be made black... :wall:

Sonic - rip blogging
Lol I don't really care about filter when I don't chat. Thanks for the advice though! Personally, I loved it when the filter update came out. Seeing "You swing your pick at the rock. You manage to mine some iron." a bazillion times a day is pretty annoying. (I've had the filter on for months and still remember exactly what it looks like... it's going to haunt my nightmares for the rest of my life...)

The update to the sheep shearer quest is mentioned right on the RS front page. It's the article of the week. off-topic: Joe's point about racism is well taken. Far too many people look for it where it does not exist, and if you look hard enough for something you'll probably find it. The real problem I have with this kind of thing is not that someone has been offended because they feel that their race/religion/whatever was insulted, it's that everyone else is trying to change something *before* someone complains that they were insulted. It's like the removal of the word "Christmas" from public use. Stores don't have "Christmas" sales, they have "holiday" sales. Schools don't have a "Christmas" break, they have a "holiday" break. What holiday? Why is everyone so afraid to say it? They all take advantage of it, but have become so PC that they're afraid to say it because someone *might* be offended. *sigh* okay, rant over. (btw - no one is afraid to say "Easter"... :-s )

That are me in all my glory! Gratz on the levels. If you put your game messages on "filter" it won't show you all the annoying "you successfully cook..." or "you bury the bones" while you're training.

Prices for looks? Really?
I agree with you on partyhats, but not halloween masks -- they definitely look cool, IMO. Personally I like the phats, and if they were 1gp I'd certainly buy one (but Halloween masks are definitely full of win. ) That being said, we spend a lot of time looking at our RS avatars. As such, we're willing to spend gp on outfits that look good so we have something nice to look at for hours at a time and to express a small bit of individuality at the same time. As for skirts vs. legs, armor skirts are almost always cheaper than their leg equivalents, especially when it comes to the higher level/priced ones (god or trimmed armors for example). I have always suspected this was because there were more male characters than female ones and combat is extremely popular so legs are in more demand. I'm not as familiar with the dragon skirt/legs, but I do think a couple of the trimmed/god skirts look really good (black(g) and Saradomin in particular) when put together with either the matching platebody or similar looking top.

Merching Clans are they acceptible?
Was all the complaints about the poster of this question really necessary? Also, he didn't re-post. This was originally posted 2 weeks before that threat was started, and you responded a month after it's last post, so somehow this topic has endured...albeit with little to no debate and large-scale flaming of the OP. (erewhon, I'm not singling you out on this. Your post was just the best single example) textrunner has, however, brought up a good question: "Are merching clans acceptible?" Perhaps the original post could have done with a bit more context, but it's a question I've seen, and defended, a lot since joining a merchanting clan myself. Now, before you all spark up your flamethrowers, let me explain... Merchanting clans in and of themselves are not the problem. A RuneScape clan is, after all, nothing more than a group of like-minded individuals gathering together to share similar interests. Why should those who enjoy the challenge of making money in-game be any different than those who enjoy skilling, mini games, combat, or any other RS activity? As I see it, the real problem is not the merchants but rather the price manipulators. Are they the same thing? No. But we've reached a point in RS where everyone is so fed up with price manipulation that the two terms have, unfortunately, become interchangeable to the community at large. My clan does not group together and force up the price of items so a handful of us can profit from it. We discuss the changes in the market and try to find the best short-term investments to maximize profit, and then everyone is free to make their own decisions. We do not manipulate, we speculate. Perhaps Jagex should do more to ban manipulation clans, but it's very hard to find out exactly who is organizing the manipulation. Simply banning everyone who bought a manipulated item would lead to hundreds, if not thousands, of innocent people being banned. Muting/banning the bots spamming the G.E. is nothing but a short term fix as there is no way to stop the people controlling them short of IP bans. Unfortunately I have no answers as to what should be done about manipulation clans, but I feel very strongly that something must be done. A "proper" merchant clan does nothing more than try to help it's members predict the daily ups and downs of the market to gain profit. A "manipulator" merchant clan uses the volume of it's membership to artificially, and forcefully, inflate the price of an item so that it gains them huge profits without any consideration to the effect this inflation would have upon the community as a whole. As Sonic said "Price Manipulators =/= Merchanting Clans" (of course he also said "Merchanting clans = advertisers = auto-typers = spammers = WRONG".. must have been a typo :P )
