I checked it out and got some good info on travel and escape routes. Very helpful for someone who's spent as little time in the wilderness as I have. Just a quick update everyone. Greetings once again fellow TIP'ers. Today, I am officially a Runite miner! :D I made a post asking for help/advice on this and received several excellent suggestions (Check it out here). I had intended to give this a try Thursday night, but unfortunately I once again had to work until almost midnight. Last night I got home in time to peruse the forums for a bit before Dollhouse came on. Mmmm...Eliza Dukshu ... By the way, for all of you who are old enough to have seen True Lies when it first came out, she played Arnie's daughter. She was 13 at the time. Think about the way she is now, and you'll never watch that movie (or Jumanji with a 13-year-old Kirsten Dunst) the same way again...you dirty old man you :shame:. Whoops, got a little side tracked there... So I set up a new account to act as a scout, loaded her up with some armor and headed into the lava maze....where I proceeded to get lost (in a maze? really? no way!) and unceremoniously dispatched by a scorpion. #-o Alright, take two; this time giving the scout some food to survive long enough to get into position. I got Kaida23 geared up and into position and began jumping worlds with the scout until... [hide=OMG! OMGOMGOMG!!!

Wow. Thanks for all the great advice everyone. :thumbsup: I can't wait to give this a try. I'm going to try and get some tonight. I should be posting the result in my blog either tonight or tomorrow. Needmore, I understand how the scout works, I've found references to it before. Remembering that I'm not planning to make a career out of this, do you think I should set one up? Or is it more trouble than it's worth for the casual Runite miner?

Can some one tell me how to make a link between my blog and some text or a picture cause at the moment thats the best i can do :( the URL is so ugly. Sure, it's easy. You know how to post URLs, it's just another step to make it phrase or picture. Here's the one you already know, http://site address makes it look like this: http://www.runescape.com To make it a phrase instead of the address, RuneScape makes it look like this: RuneScape (just type in what ever you want it to say in between the brackets) If you want it to be a picture instead of a phrase, do the same thing only put in the img address instead. Like this, will look like this: (yes, this a pic from the new "Glorious Memories" quest) You see? Three links that all go to the same place, but all done in different ways. I hope this helps. :D

Pandora's box was opened when the RSOF opened, man. I'll admit, some neat and cool stuff came out of the older RSOF, and some interesting discussions exist sparingly, but the rest is more than enough for me to want to close the box. Too true. Unfortunately, as Pandora discovered to the eternal detriment of mankind, the evil cannot be put back into the box simply by closing it.

Hello all. If you're a reader of my blog you know that I reached level 85 Mining last night. If you're not, shame on you :shame:. There's a link in my signature, please have a look. I am now looking for help and suggestions with mining Runite ore. I'm not planning on making it a career, but I would like to give it a try a couple of times and don't want to get splattered all over the wilderness by a Revenant. I'm looking for tips on equipment and what kind of items I should bring with me. I've checked out several guides on the 'net but they all seem to have been written when the wildy was still wild. I'm pretty sure Revenants require different strategies than PK'ers. LEVEL 85!!!! :twss: [hide=The final achievement before level 99 (I obviously combined them into one picture)][/hide]I finally did it. I have reached the last checkpoint before my final climb to the summit and my ultimate ascension to Mining godhood. I will achieve this; it is my destiny. Here I shall rest and attempt to mine some Runite ore before continuing upon my journey. After all, how can one make claim to ultimate mining ability without having mined all types of ore? Lol. Grandiose, no? :lol: Seriously though, I almost didn't make it today. I started at about 9pm and found a good spot in world 3, which was almost full. I was on pace to get the last 75k Xp within 2 hours, but the longer I mined the more people who logged out. I checked the other worlds every so often, but the only F2P world with more people was world 1. I checked it at about 10pm and there were no less than 7 people fighting over the iron rocks :shock: so I decided that it would be faster to stay in world 3. By 11:40pm I finally did it and joined 33,134 others with the ability to mine Runite ore. [hide=33,135th to level 85 Mining. 1 Mudkipz, 2009. No, seriously. Look.][/hide]As predicted, I made it by Wednesday (although, just barely). Now I think I'll ease up for a bit. Maybe try my hand and mining some Runite just to say I've done it. Anyone got any good tips? What should I wear or bring? How many should I get before I bank them? Edgeville or Bounty Hunter bank? Is it even worth the trouble? Coke or Pepsi? Boxers? Briefs? 42? :-s

Very soon indeed. ;) Less than 87k Xp to go. As for the free time...well... (*cough* personal admission coming) My ex and I are still kind of hammering out the divorce settlement and I've mostly been spending my evenings sitting on the couch watching TV anyway. Believe it or not, RuneScape has been a good escape for me of late, and deciding to go for 99 Mining has given me a small bit of purpose to take my mind off of things. Okay, the Dr. Phil moment is over. :boohoo: Back to the blog. Once again today I rode with another tech to an out of town call...I got almost 4 more hours in today going to and from the site! Combined with another couple of hours after dinner, I made almost 140k total Xp today. Looks like my prediction of level 85 by Wednesday may yet come to pass after all. Does anyone know of a good Runite ore mining guide? I'd like to take a shot at it after I level up. I'm looking especially for info on dealing with the Revenants. All the guides I've see so far talk about gearing up to protect against PK'ers in the wild. :-s I had a good experience with another player this evening, which certainly doesn't happen very often while mining. I was in Rimmington again (or is it still?) when he logged in and started mining the rocks I was working. I politely asked him to find another spot and he was impressed that I asked instead of yelling or calling him names, so he moved to a different set of rocks. We chatted back and for for a bit until he had to go. After the problem with the follow-the-leader-noob the other day, it was definitely refreshing to talk to someone who also appreciates respect between players.

Personally, the second I saw this I thought only one thing: Happy April Fools to all the RSOF posters who will spend the next 24 hours spamming up the rants forum only to have it taken away again leaving them with nowhere to complain about the fact that they have nowhere to complain. That would be awesome! :thumbsup: Um, enjoy the way it looks if you think it's cool and get rid of it if you don't. The holiday event rewards aren't given out with the sole intention of being combined with any of the others. If they were, we'd only get one piece at a time instead of a whole outfit, and we still be able to trade them. Yes, last year's Christmas event gave us a Santa suit but that doesn't mean anyone has to go off and drop 12mil on a hat for it. Even though I didn't get the bunny ears, I'd love to get a rabbit outfit to wear. Maybe they could give out a nose&whiskers we could wear with it. Remember: the holiday events are meant to be a fun distraction from the daily routine of RuneScape. After the problems at the beginning with the Christmas crackers, party hats, Halloween masks and Santa hats I'm kind of surprised they started giving out the holiday items again at all.

What's wrong with being a guy playing a girl online? I am. I doesn't mean there's anything wrong with us. I've just always preferred looking at female characters than than male ones during long hours of game time. Seems to me that would be pretty normal. Video games have, historically, been designed and marketed towards a male audience because that's what 98% of the audience began as. So-called "girl" games several companies keep bringing out do nothing to help the matter (I think someone mentioned a "Bratz" game? *shudder*). While some of the stereotyping for boys playing video games has been removed, there is still a stigma for girls who play. People automatically assume that they are unpopular or ugly or just sit on the couch all day. Sounds a lot like what was thought about boy gamers in the beginning, eh? As more and more girls get into gaming, I'm sure this misconception will change as well.

It doesn't change permanently, just while I'm wearing the headgear. When I take it off, my hair changes back.

Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying it. :D Not quite as much progress today, only 80k Xp gained (only?). Also, I've crossed the 3 million Xp mark...only 10 million to go! Whee! \ Work was pretty crazy today and I didn't make it home until 7:30pm. Of course I didn't get on until after 9. Sorry RuneScape, but Mondays from 8-9pm House M.D. comes first. The weather has been very wet and cold the past couple of days and has been causing a lot of equipment failure (why do people always think their problem is more important than everyone else's?). Believe it or not, electronic equipment designed in a lab in California doesn't stand up very well when exposed to Canadian weather. :wall: Tomorrow isn't shaping up to be much better, but hopefully I'll still be able to get in a couple of hours of mining.

Has anyone else noticed that when you put on any of the random event headgear (Mime mask, Camo helmet, Forester hat) your hairstyle changes to a close-cropped, almost buzz, cut? It didn't use to. My hair doesn't change when I wear a wizard or chef's hat. I'm not sure if this is a glitch or something they changed on purpose. I couldn't find any information on it.

Do you have any idea just how much tax revenue governments collect from tobacco? No matter how much public outcry there is, they will never make it illegal. OT: I occasionally smoke flavored cigarillos. Chocolate Don Carbones are my favorite (and not just because they're the least inexpensive :P).

...which makes them an awesome way of wasting money. 1M-5M loss/hour. Why? Unless you're the Bill Gates of F2P'ers it is a huge waste of money. Really valuable armor that you can only use for 30 minutes? No thank you. I'd rather waste my gold on something I can keep no matter how long I wear it.

What ad are you all getting to cause all this trouble? Also, what web browser are you using? I just opened the RuneScape main page with both Firefox and Internet Explorer and got the same banner ad each time (something about checking my credit score). No overlap or expansion across any other part of the page, even when I moved my mouse over it. The ad stayed right in the rectangle between the title banner and the navigation tabs. Edit: I just saw the pic sees_all1 posted while I was writing my post. I agree that would be *really* annoying. I'm glad I've never gotten that.

Actually, this is a Christian holiday (a word derived from "Holy Day" by the way) that celebrates Christ's resurrection; *not* his death. Even though Christ himself was a Jew (yes, he was. Look into it before you yell at me), this is not a Jewish holiday. Look, Jagex is based in England, right? Just like North America, they celebrate the Christian holidays so of course they are going to come up with events based around them. This, in turn, is going to upset a large portion of the rest of the world who do not celebrate these holidays. Unfortunately, there is no way do anything in an entity the size of RuneScape without upsetting someone. They've stuck to the secular aspects of each of the holidays as to include the most, and offend the least, amount of people.

Wow! Gratz on nearing 99 Woodcutting. :thumbsup: I have to admit, I'm a bit jealous of the blue mask. I was saving up for one when I decided to focus on my mining. I don't know about them stabilizing though. The blue ones were over 15mil back in the fall and have come down over 5mil in the past few months. I kind of hope they keep coming down :D
