Obama calls an end to combat operations in Iraq
Because how can you train for a Night Op during a day where there is 23 hours of daylight? We train like we fight. You can simulate it all you want, but until you actually train in conditions close to what you will be in its tough to really grasp it.

Alaska is an option, but remember the daylight/dark hours....you could acclimatize there as far as temperature, but the schedule would really throw you off. It threw me off majorly even when I went to train in Latvia this past July.

The Ghosts Of World War II's Past
Some of my favorite type of photography. I love this. This is one of my favorites from that collection. The German flags above the Hammer and Sickle....weird seeing them together like this.

USA has plans ready to attack Iran
Go to Greenland. Might be a little colder, but the US Military has targets/bases in Iceland. Just saying.

Obama calls an end to combat operations in Iraq
There isn't a big threat with China directly, but with them having the manpower they do....they are always in the shadows. North Korea, only if they go rogue....I don't for see an attack from them, it would require us to fight on their turf against their militaristic society and harsh climate. Apart from a very northern US winter, when or where are they going to train you for cold weather and snow? They won't send you to another country to get the feel for it, costs to much to deploy you twice. They can give you classes on it....but you can't get the feel for it unless you are there. Same for a deep jungle enviornment. Desert, we train in Califonia...the Mojave Desert. Gives a very good indicator of Iraq. We have no resources to train like that for other environment except for maybe a few months out of the year. South America isn't a current direct threat, but with Chavez going crazy down there and tensions between Venezuela and Colombia...who knows? Chavez is already moving troops to the border of Venezuela. Training does not last that long you are right, but there is a whole mindset that must change. Ever since bootcamp I can remember being geared towards a desert war...a desert environment. No mention of anything else. Its hammered into since the start. We need to change that to be able to be effective. Even during peace time between the Gulf War and Iraq today....the desert was our major enemy.

Obama calls an end to combat operations in Iraq
At this point I'm honestly more worried about N. Korea or China then I am about Iran. Even the South American countries concern me a little. All the US has known for the last 2 decades has been desert warfare. Its what our equipment and gear are designed for and the only thing we are being trained for (Though you do get some mountain training for Afghanistan) I think they can handle themselves in Iran, though it would be a far superior force then found in Iraq. But throw us into Korea again or China and its a whole new war. A terrain and enemy that we haven't seen the likes of in the last 40 or so years at the very least. This coming from someone in the military, these are my genuine concerns. We've focused to much on desert warfare. I'd rather deploy 3 times to Iraq then I would once to the frozen Chosin.

Obama calls an end to combat operations in Iraq
OH, so you are saying he announced what we've been doing since about when he took office? Cool, thanks for letting me know pres. I guess its just official now but we've been doing this since early on 2009. Iraq has had control of the Green Zone since Jan 2009. And I was one of the last Marines out of the Anbar province in Dec 2009. Officially, the Anbar province was turned over to the Army in Jan. The US Army is an occupying force, not a combat force. I wonder where some of you get all of this information from, wikileaks? A lot of the regions in Iraq are controlled by Iraq. The Army is there strictly for support and a show of force. The rules of engagement are so tight now that they are there to back up Iraqi forces not the other way around. Insurgents are not hitting a majority of US military targets anymore....its all civilians and iraqis. Iraq even had its own military helicopters flying missions when I was there.

New Computer
A modular power supply just makes cable management easier. You can take off wires you arn't using or plug in more.

New Computer
I have the i7 920, SWEET. I'd recommend the i7 personally...but if its money you want to save then look cheaper. Sweet processor though IMO.

New Computer Build
Heres it is finally. Still a big work in progress. Still need to sleeve the cables and do a little more cable management, add a little more touches of light in the bottom, and connect the rest of the fans. Also need to add a fan to the radiator on the back (Will be a white finned fan). But here it is for now, at least its finally alive and running. Only thing i'm not happy about are the blue ripjaw heatsinks on the memory. Way to bright blue, and will clash with what i'm eventually trying to do. Eh, i'll figure something out...or replace them. Heres a close up of the GTX 480 with backplate and high flow bracket.

Building My Own Computer
I use an SSD strictly as a bootdrive. All thats on it is Windows, so my computer loads windows faster. I also put programs that I use every day on there to make their performance a little faster. Its not needed, but if you have some extra money its a pretty nifty thing to have. Also, I guess you are right about performance/price with Nvidia vs Radeon. I just have a "you get what you pay for" belief system. Theres nothing wrong with Radeons and AMD, but i personally find GeForce and Intel to be better. AMD is just another processor choice, same programs, same function as the Intel just different brand and of course they put their own spin on the technology just like every other company. I personally find Intel to be steps ahead of AMD currently, with the i7's out there but it goes back and forth.

http://educations.newegg.com/tool/psucalc/index.html I'm neither an AMD or Radeon fan, used both and never have been, never will be. I stick to Intel and GeForce (Specifically EVGA) for processors and graphics. I would however highly recommend the Samsung spinpoint F3 drives. Very good speeds and i've had no problems with mine.

"Bullet-Proof Custard"
The concept is good, however its not there yet. And the testing methods here are just ridiculous.

"Bullet-Proof Custard"
Meh. 300mps? LOL thats weak. Mine are 828 mps which equal 2,715 fps. And why are you using spherical shaped bullets? Those havn't been seen since the American Civil War. Eh, I bet mine would go through. ;) These are what I like to call Black Deaths or Nightmares because they inflict just that. And what most people just call Black Tips. Its old WWII-Koren War era .30-06 M2 Armor Piercing. A .30-06 cartridge filled with pure hell and a solid hardened steel core. This will punch holes in building grade as well as "bullet proof" steel 1-2" thick, like it was butter. [hide] [/hide] Like I said, meh. Not impressed. I believe a 7.62 round would go through enough to do damage as well. The current body armor is not THAT heavy....just to many weak a__ b___ now. You fill in the blanks.

New Computer Build
Vista 64 bit because I already had it. Works fine, no point to upgrade. I went with the 850w because I significantly increased my power usage. Not only with the video card but also 3-4 times as many case fans, new case lights, and more hard drives. The scraps of my old computer, including my 650w PSU are going to my brother. The computer is built and running, its what I'm using now to post. Its basically a beast. I boot windows fully in about 20-25 seconds. Will get some pics eventually.

The official World of Warcraft thread.
This would be an excellent year to attend Blizzcon. Riots galore, I can't wait to see pics and video of it. Someone is going to get hurt, or even worse killed through this. Then maybe they will see what a bad idea this is.

The official World of Warcraft thread.
The forum update isn't beneficial. Thats why civil unrest is going on, if it goes through expect civil war. They gave the excuse of it keeping trolls away since their real name would be exposed, but for us that don't troll well...yeah. Just remember, the best way to deal with a troll is to tell them your real life name. Yes, much more action packed and things to do at higher levels.

The official World of Warcraft thread.
787 pages, 14699 replies, and 103863 views at the time of my posting this. Averaging 2 new pages per minute. http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=25712374700&sid=1 People are NOT happy. Including me. I've written to CNN, as well as the ESRB already. Quite possibly the WORST idea ever from Blizz. This will really cripple Cataclysm release. Especially with Bioware releasing their new game around the same time. Ironic, WoW is destroyed by a cataclysmic move by the company. What [developmentally delayed]s, I blame Activision.

Eminem - Recovery
I love it. I honestly believe Eminem is the best lyricist in the mainstream game, followed closely by Ludacris. I didn't like No Love at all until Eminem started, can't stand wayne with a passion....he's an overrated POS whos relied on autotune for the past few years, his old stuff was decent. Anyway, my other favorites are Cinderella Man and Not Afraid.
