  1. I agree about the fletching thing, but I know why they don't have it in dungeneering: you'd get Fletching exp unless they did some different programing for it than they already have. edit: and how would you have a fletching lvl to base what kind of arrows you could make? edit2: i think this really boils down to an argument to why f2p should have limited fletching skill. Meleers can make their weapons, magers can make at least their very basic weapons, but range is stuck using shops and drops. Always struck me as unfair... but I dont want to stand between jagex and the "outraged"members over giving f2p what is, essentially, a very, very, very borring skill that 99 people out of 100 buy anyway. I am aready deafend by the future echos of members yelling about how much f2p has gotten already.
  2. Being the first of a month, maybe they will bring back monthly BTS. Too bad it's April.
  3. Considering that it's the *4th* graphical rework I'm sure they're as tired of it as we are of waiting for it. Luckily it's just the graphics for the quest and the one for Zanaris are already done. No, the underlying subtext of this devblog was that FTP3 wont be coming out until after the graphics for the Halloween event are done. :wall:
  4. While I really hope this is true, and am trying to get the peices, I'm not holding my breath for this. It seems too wonderful .
  5. LOL... For all you know that person could have been working on those stats since classic!! Some people gain exp at a slower rate than others. :shame: If that is the case, they really, really need our help.  Anyway, I agree, I think it is quest time (unless it is some thing like temple treking, which I doubt because we just got the Shattered Heart)
  6. I like the idea of each world having more than one of each boss on it. I think this would be much less overpowered than infinite instances. Also, for people saying this would crash prices, well, I would say, that as time moves on, more people can wield/afford these weapons, so it really is just heading off a price increase. Supply is staying the same (the resource is saturated with gatherers) but the demand is constantly increasing. So, I think this would be a more economical way for jagex to keep with the demand for godswords, and the demand of players to play god wars bosses, without having to add more servers.
  7. Oh, no, no, no, a roll back would have been even worst. Some people had already said that they were very happy the event started on Friday, as they were going to be gone all weekend, but because it started so early, they could still get in a few solid hours of game play (some person mentioned going on a camping trip). If they had come back to find a roll back, they would have made heads roll. I think, if truly a mistake it was, Jagex had no choice but to keep it rolling. At least it happened to everyone, and not just a select few. Feel bad for the people it inconvienced though.
  8. Because Jagex are British. Just like my blasted stupid government too..... It'd be way too simple to do something like that....... So they make everything complex, over dramatise it, and annoy alot of americans whilst at it...... So it's not all bad ;) (BTW I can't wait to move out of this country for a while, going to go to america for a bit after uni ^^) Oh, you inoccent, ignorant soul... I pity you. America *shakes head* Hope you enjoy it here! (drama *laugh crazily*) On topic: I think that is how it was written the begining, probably for some very good reason. (edit: that was important at the time) total conjection: I think it probably is to even out when your maxed hit increases the first time. If you didn't round down in the begining, your lowest max hit would only last half the number of lvles as your max hit would increase from then on out. I don't know if this is true, but it sounded good in my head. But it could be now, one of those things that is so inbeded into the code that it would be a huge task to change.
  9. "Hp" isn't going to go away for years, habits don't change in a day. No one says ddp++ even though it hasn't been dds for ages it seems That's why we are going to call it the 'tution lvl. <.<
  10. The last so many pages of this thread make me wish they had just added tenths of a hitpoint. Same outcome, but we wouldn't have so many "un-Runescape" like high numbers (/sarcasm)
  11. So much for tip it not having any RSOF'ers.... So many people, so excited over multiplication. Somewhere, a math teacher has gotten her wings.
  12. From my limited experence with it so far, i think the hp is improved (though i can't say i like the name change, and I reserve the right to change my mind). If anything you hit more. Where you would have hit 0 before because you got a .4 rounded to zero, you now hit a 4, which is better, imho. I always thought all the zeros I hit were rediculous for someone who was suposidly so good in combat. And I agree... this is a lot of histeric chicken littling over nothing. If people would stop being sooo drama cow over every little change. You can not like it, but at least let the update actually be in the game and you actually log in an try it before screaming the sky is falling. Seriously, I don't think I have ever seen a crazier disply of premature getting worked up over multiplication! At least when people were ranting about the wilderness, they had actually lost something. There were threads saying this is the end of runescape and everyone hates this update, before anyone could even log into the game again! Oh, so rediculous... Don't jugde an update by its cover, jugde it by its actually effect in game. :wall:
  13. Steroids give the baseball player strength to play baseball Duped bolts gives the runescape player more economic strength, a major factor, whether we like it or not, in playing Runescape. The more money, the more things you can buy, the more you can level buyable skills. Just having better armor makes training go faster, not mentioning buying herbs, seeds, wood, bow strings, etc. It is a different type of strength, but it is someone getting strength of stronger/faster/better gameplay over a supposedly equal under the rules, player. It’s rigging the game in one persons favor based on breaking the rules. edit: I’m going to try to go to sleep now. I’ll probably be up in a few hours, having been positionally asphyxiated by my bronchitis (every time I lie down too long, it feels like I’m suffocating). But it’s worth a shot. Good night/day, etc everyone.
  14. I came up with a better example. This bolt dupe, is like using steroids in baseball. Your team wins games, which makes the team and the fans happy. It makes the owner happy because more fans buy tickets. The games are may be more interesting because of more home runs/action. But is it right to use steroids? Even though it violates the rules of the game? Even if it violates the spirit of the game (in this context , as in RS, I would argue spirit being the relationship between the fans (RS= the players) and the game. Their time/monetary/emotional investment in the game. It is an entangle, but I would argue, an important aspect of the game and the social contract within the game. It is the reason people feel betrayed when their sports heroes cheat.)?
  15. I can tell you didn't get an A in your ethics class. Merchant clans do this all the time. Maybe not with bolts but plenty of other items. Exactly, imho this bolt bug is harmless to others. Bolt prices were too high. Bolt's are a consumable. The market will reach an equilibrium for bolts in probably less than 6 months. It's not like the extra coins entering the economy from bolts will significantly affect the market. It will be a minor effect. There are so many coins already entering this game through alching, bots, drops and all that. One action of debatable morality (merchant clans) does not magical cancel out another action (in this case bolt duping). They are totally unrelated issues. Bolts prices being to high is a debatable opinion. I would be inclined to agree just I havent really looked into the situation all that much. And so you wish to argue that the short term harm of some (people who make and sell bolts) vs the shorter gain of some rangers who get cheaper bolts, and faster range exp because they can afford better bolts. Ok, now we are down to dilemma. One action had both good consequences and bad consequences for people. So I guess the morality is depended upon whether greater harm, or greater good happened. Only time will tell, and without research on a large percentage of people affected, we will never know whether the greater good or the greater harm triumphed. Because I agree, barring action by Jagex, the market will stabilize after all the bolts are consumed not counting the extra cash from hi-alching, etc. which is forever present unless died with/dropped and not picked up.So based on your ethics system, this too is based on an opinion of whether the harm is greater than the aid. I would say the harm is greater because it violates the social contract of the game. The rules of the game, applicable equality to everyone is what a game is about. Breach them, and you have breached your word to abide by the rules to every single person in the game. Edit: and I would also tell you to leave personal attack out of it. We can have differences of opinion, even differences in the moral philosophies we follow, without there being that.
  16. Are you on crack? In this game we kill other players for fun. In the real world PVP would be illegal. Another person brought up racism, at one time it was legal and encouraged to be racist. Morals change with time, nothing is absolute. Cheating on an online game is like telling a white lie. It doesn't harm anyone. As for PvP, you are choosing to enter that environment, no one is forcing you to. A person knows that they can be killed or can kill. The difference between PvP and murder is the fact YOU COME BACK. You may have lost your stuff, but you knew you could lose your stuff, just like the other person knew they could lose there stuff. If isn’t murder, it’s GAMBLING!!! You are going in to an area, betting that your skills and your character are better than the person that comes along. Some times you win, sometimes you lose, but PvP does not have anything to do with the dynamic in the rest of the game. And I would say that not all cheats are created equal. Being able to clip through walls is one thing, making hundreds of thousands of bolt that totally screw over anyone who was actually making and selling bolts for exp and money is another. Not all lies are created equal, not all cheats are created equal. And I also think that we can look back and say that morals of another time are immoral. That’s like saying I can't condemn slavery, or apartheid, or racism or sexism because they were “artifacts of their time”. Sure, it the study of history you should look and contemplate actions in the morality of the time, but this is not history, this is ethics. And philosophers and ethicists have been searching for MILLENNIA, dating back to Plato and Socrates for an “absolute morality”. Just because we have not reached it yet, we should see as a failure of our time, and not a failure of there being an absolute morality. Maybe there is, maybe there isn't, but that is not reason not to strive to live as moral a life as we can, withing the best moral framework we can reason out.
  17. It is a form of psychopathy. Basically you are saying that a layer of abstraction allows you to do almost anything. If you were playing a board game in the park, and I came by and wiped all you pieces of the board, would that be ok because its only a game? If you were playing a sport, and I walked out on the field and started sunbathing, or interducing a bunch of new balls to the court, that would be just fine, because its only a game? Why even bother to have rules in games then only allowed 5 people on the court at a time I DONT THINK SO!!!. At this point every game just will break down into a brawl. This is the same damn excuse that lets people make predatory loans and a host of other indirect crimes. Because the person on the computer/piece of paper is just an abstraction, a thing instead of a person, and not something that involves a moral decision. The break down of the banking system is a direct result of people performing cause never thinking/seeing/carring about effect. The intersession of a game between yours and my direct interaction does not change the fact that we are interacting one human being to another. And as such, that interaction, no matter what the mediary, is still governed by the rules of basic moral conduct in interactions between people. We can argue about the rights and responsibilities that are involved in our interaction, but do not think that we are not moral agents or moral patients just because we are in a game. You are awesome. I have a high fever from bronchitis and dimly in the background I hear my ethics professor jumping up and down clapping. Oh, I hope it's just the drugs, or the lack of sleep.

  19. All I know is, the longer they wait, the more time there is for the bolts to get out into the economy at large, worsening the economic damage. If some of the people did do this just to mess with everything, knowing they would be banned, they are doing everything to get the bolts out into the economy. A bolt that is lost with a banned player is a bolt that doesn't mess with the economy. And I too wish they would at least make a sticky saying "We will be commenting on this when everything here in Jagex Tower is settled. Watch this space" I can wait for a message as long as I know a message will actually be forthcomming.
  20. Well, I don't know how well that track changes in banks, but what if someone never put them in therbank, but highalched as they made them. I'm sure they log inventories between log outs, but I can see a senario where there is not much logging but of exp that would evidence the bolts exsistance (note I'm just trying to think like a bug abuser that didn't want to be caught). It just seems like way too much info to track every change one makes in ones inventory between logouts for every accont in game. If they do track this, I'm incredulous at how much data they must keep track of. And then to have to parse it to find this info out... the scripts would take forever...
  21. The game logs a lot of data. Everything from movement to chat, I'm pretty sure anyone with over 1m's worth of duped bolts will be noted. Even if they don't tell anyone its still going to show on there logs. Question: Did they get massive amounts of fletching/magic exp to go along with all the bolts? They can surely look at the few people that had an insane xp rate and then go through those acounts one at a time. Some would have been training legitimantly, but it would be a smaller pool of players to look through. But I really do think that they probably have some way to see the people that cast enchant bolt 10000 times in the last two days.
  22. Goodness, that's 3b worth of bolts... Like I said, the fletching forum exploded, one person claimed to have a billion bolts. And before the thread got closed, he said he had already sold some.
  23. It's too late for a rollback. I'm just hoping that Jagex bans most of the accounts before they sold... to bad they didn't. Anyone else watch the fletching forum explode with people selling(and buying) d-bolts. And there was a lot of takers, the economy be damned (as if it wasn't already). In truth, the people who knew about the glich and helped the glichers get the bolts into the economy (because if it had been just up the the G.E. only so many would have sold and most to people who had planned to use them) are partly to blame for whatever economic chaos results. But there is no way to tell the people that geniunely were bying the bolts so I wouldn't expect anything to happen on that end. At least bolts are a consumable, and *eventually* the excess will leave the game. Ah well, I'll just continue my policy of ignoring RS economy as much as possible. May the ban-hammer fall hard but fairly.
  24. It's the number one reason I don't play WoW. Second being it's overly focused on combat, and third being the price. Seriously though, I like Soloscape. Don't change it please. Instances really suck unless you have a good group. And those are rare. Soloing, duoing etc is impossible for things designed fo a group, if it's impossible to brute force it. Lots of whining and hating. Good groups have fun. The rest are busy kicking noobs off their team. Good, bad, whatever. I want no part of it. I don't want to do group stuff. I simply don't like it. The idea that a skill would require team involvement to raise it just kills me. My skill level in it would never pass 1. A group skill would suck tbh. I hate the idea of a group skill too. But I think it is too early to start worrying about this, because we are worrying over a hunk on new land... maybe not even skill related. We are worrying purely on conjecture. But if it is, anyone want to form a group of people who hate the idea of a group skill... and group together to raise said skill together. (/irony)
  25. I really thing that this has to be related to the new skill. In the Q&As they have been saying that the graphical team was tied up with graphics for the new skill, and then this HUGE map expansion comes out? I don't know how much graphics time is devoted to making a huge map area like that, but I would have to believe that it is not insignificant. Also, has anyone tried talking to any of the Fremminkins in Relleka, to see what they have to say about the situation. Surely something this masive would get some type of new dialog from the Seer or the Chief if it is indead related to the fremmy already in game.
