  1. Hey, I noticed something. When you recharge your summoning in HD it looks different. Is it new partical effects? Edit: is this even new with this update, or have I just been oblivious?
  2. Does anyone think it odd that they have been telling us in the Q & As that the Graphics team has been busy on graphics for the new skill, and then this graphics filled chunk of land just magically apears? Either it ISN'T new skill related and someone in the graphics team wasn't working on new skill stuff (still quite possible) or this new land is some how related to the new skill.
  3. All I can say is, what you see as a deficit in the game, I see as one of the greatest features about Runescape. If they think it's a joke, fine, let them. There is no requirment to like RS, Just as there is no requirement to like WOW. You like the game you like, you like the playing style you like. But what I am saying is you shouldn't play Runescape thinking its going to become some cutting edge game. There NEEDS to be a game out there that isn't cutting edge for all the people that can't do cutting edge. There needs to be a slower-paced game for people who want to play without being on the edge of their seats all the time. RS has a different development philosophy than those "cutting edge" games. It has a different game dynamic. If you want a that kind of game play, go play *that* type of game, and stop trying to change a game that isn't like that.
  4. Hah, beat me to it. I was thinking the exact same thing while playing Modern Warfare 2 the other day. The fact is that Jagex has been perpetuating EZ mode for far too long...everything is afkable or at least not that difficult (for instance, no split second reactions akin to first person shooters). So when the game deviates from the norm, people freak out over having to do something they are not used to. I taught my Dad to play Army of 2 40th Day and he loved it because I guess older people don't step into that world. Guess what, he loved it and didn't suck (after a while). So for older gamers who are afraid of "twitch" gaming: age ain't nothing but a number!! Get one of us young 'uns to show you how it's done. You might discover you enjoy sniping from cover or setting people on fire! Edited to fix grammar :D Well, don't you want the reverse, them tailoring the game around your Technical Superiority? Yes, but most toehr games do that so it totally justifies his point. Yay conformity. That's my point, every other game pushes the technology people have. RS aims for assessablity, and I don't think that is a bad thing to aim for (though I admit to being bias). If you want something that RS is not, then maybe you need to move on. If you are not having fun any more, then you are the only person to blame for not finding something more your "technological speed". People at the top have a lot of options... those of us at the bottom are without choices.

  6. That's my issue as well. Jagex has been reversing all its decisions as of late in the face of--now don't take offense--whining from the forums. The people who are happy with updates don't go on the boards en masse and tell them how great it is, so they only see the negative. I don't have 93 slay yet, but I am working towards it and I did go and get a fire cape for this reason. So yes, I am biased, just as people who don't have fast computers/connections are biased towards that end. Also, people have to face the fact that as gaming technology moves forward, they have to move forward as well. They can't expect Jagex to confine themselves technologically when other game companies set higher system requirements to produce better looking games. They can't. They will lose money. So future updates will have the same issue re: connectivity, lag, etc...and I don't know how Jagex will deal with this in the future. Moving forward is a great idea, but it doesn't take into acount the realities of things. And for a lot of people, RS is the last stop of the gamming train as they have been outpaced by technology as other games have grown. They haven't have the money to buy the technology, or they live in a region that doesn't have the money, or see the need, to keep up with technology. High speed internet isn't everywhere, or at a price people can afford everywhere. RS as been billed as a game that doesn't require supper awsome technology to access. At some point these people will be left behind, through no fault of our own, but does that mean they should just go quietly into the night as though their fun on RS has no value? Of course they are going to do everything they can to try and hang on. And you would do the same thing in their place. Edit: and there were some whinners on the forums... but there were also people that had legitiment comments/concerns that are getting lumped in with the rabble
  7. Well, they feel that other peoples ability to do things deminishes their ablity to do things. So maybe it's just down right greed (and the need to feel leet! and lord things over the rest of us plebians)
  8. They don't complain about dying when they disconect becuase they *know* the problem is at their end of the connection. And they go around rs in welfare gear, never buy any expensive armor knowing that sooner, rather than latter, they are going to lose it, so why bother. Things in RS can be completed in rune plate and black d'hide, you just have to take your limitations in mind. Some of you really, really have a bad imagination as to how the other half lives. Just because we don't have great computers or great internet, that means we don't deserve thefun we can find to have in this game? And I know that librarys around my region have limits on what you can do on library computers. Games would be on those lists of no no. Computers are for *serious usage*. I mean, if people aren't waiting in line to use a computer, maybe you could get away with it... but we have a cue, and you have a time limit. There is often not enough computers for everyone who wants to use them, esspecially durring the times students might be able to use them. Not only that, you have live within the city, and get a card, so if you live out in the county (like my sister's boyfriend) you have to pay a fee to get a card, even if you go to the city school. So i'm not sure what world you live in where free, highspeed internet access with no fetters is located at ever street corner, but the rest of us realize that this is not as viable of a solution as you would like to put it forward to be. More than that, the computers at the library are business grade computers, and have graphics cards that hardly run anything. I wasn't happy with the requirement in the first place, but I'm also not happy that jagex had to change it. This is a slippery slope. But I think that a lot of you are just calling anyone who brings of up any point of view you don't argree with as whinnners, and I don't think that was fair. There are a lot of valid reasons to be unhappy with this update, there are a lot of valid reasons to be unhappy with how it is being changed, but there is a very nasty strain of myopicness, small mindedness, selfishness and elitism that is flowing from some of you that is just horribly, horribly toxic to everyone. And if you can't imagin having a computer/ internet that bad as is being discribed, you need to get your imagination fixed (or come over here to the real world).
  9. Can I ask a stupid question? What happens if you die/ otherwise loose your fire cape after you get assigned the new Ice strykerwyrms? If you die in the cave and loose your fire cape under the grave can you get back to your grave to pick it up if you dont have another one in the bank? I'm not asking because it's relevent to my situation, but just because I'm currious. But if you can't get back to your grave to get your stuff because you don't have an extra fire cape to access the area, I could see... some unfortunate situations.
  10. I'm sorry, but that is the vaguest hint for anything I have ever seen. Might as well have been, Next week is an update week. Sure the choice of wording, variety (new skill?) , essence (runecrafting) could possibly be something, but really, it's so vague as to be grasping at straws. That reminds me, is that same word they use in the foreign language twitters the same as they use for rune essence in game? If not, I would just throw that idea out the window. Anyway, we just had a runecrafting update. Not to say we can't have another one, just doesn't seem as likely another one so soon, unless it is soul runes. I think I'm just going to hope it is the vaguest hint in the whole world for a new skill, based solely on the fact that one of Runescapes selling points in the variety of skills, and I think if it was anything else, they would give just a little more information on the content of the update. edit: and yes, I know that saying that the very vague-ity of the hint is the hint that it is something big is bordering on insanity. But the border of insanity and reason is where I happily spend most of my time. (you can decide for yourself on which side  )
  11. I have to agree with your point of view here. I remember once, an 8 year old kid in the Detroit area called 911 (the phone number for emergencies, in case anyone outside of the US doesn't know) saying that something was wrong with his mother. It sounded to the operator like it was a prank call, so she didn't trace the call or do anything else about it. It turned out to be a serious call and the mother died of a heart attack. It's exactly like you say there -- some people are serious about it, and there's too much on the line to dismiss it. Sure, it's the cultural norm to joke about that, but if there is even the trace possibility that someone might, then to not even try to help them is idiotic. And you're not wasting police time -- the job of the police is to protect citizens, and not just against crime, sometimes it's against themselves. I know what I've said here will probably be ignored and there will be people who think "He was just joking -- they're wasting the police's time" and I'm unlikely to change their minds. But to me, it's obvious that they're doing the right thing. I totally agree with this (that case with the kid and the mom was so tragic and heartbreaking) and I think that this really should show as a warning not to joke about harming oneself on the internet. In real life, where people can judge by the look on your face and/or the tone of your voice how you mean the statement "i'm going to kill myself because of such and such" is different than the toneless text of the internet. I mean, why else but this tone deaf nature of text did we invent psudo-html sarcams tags!
  12. The fact that it is confirmed that Duradel hasn't left his grave can only be shown as evidence that he was never in his grave to begin with!!! Clearly, he went to the make over mage, and the hair stylist, and got some new cloths and a new name (name change, look how suspicious the timing of that release was) and is now recruting an army of slayer masters to seek... well, I'll just shut up now (/crazy tangent)
  13. I think that because of the exponential relationship between exp and lvls that total exp would be a better way to do the worlds. It would also give anyone, no matter how they played the game, a chance to make it into the worlds. Even someone who only trained one skill, they could concivably make any exp world under 200M (and I don't see jagex making worlds with that high of reqs). People have the right to play the game however they want, but I don't think that in this instance the way they enjoy the game should hinder them in getting on these worlds, as they are really meant as a reward for dedication to the game. edit: when you play the game a certain way, you expect to have in-game things denied to you. but these exp worlds are meta-game, and as such, I don't think that playing style should be a factor.
  14. Did he just try to justify stealing by saying; "It's okay to steal a little from everyone, as long as I'm not stealing to much from one person." That dastard! My god, I think he did... This person seems like a smart guy, shame he has to waste it ruining the gameplay for alot of players. As long as the people suffering are abstract nebulous people OVER THERE, it's fine what happens to them, because they never have to see it, never have to think about, it never affects them. As long as there is something (like the ge, other people) doing the dirty work, it's fine. Of course it's not; It's sick and it's wrong. Really, this is not moral rocket science. They're abusing and stealing from people. He's like so many other "hardend criminals" in the news lately: too cowardly to actually face the people they are stealing from, they have to have a computer do it for them. Because in my estimation they are stealing more than pixallated money, they are stealling alot of peoples enjoyment of the game. (you think we could sue them in real life for stealing fun? If only I had tons of money to throw at it...(or any money for that matter)) May they all realize what morally defective peolpe they are, and spend the rest of their lives trying to atone.
  15. It also has a place for the full body pics of the avatars. Also, I'm not concerned about what it says, so much, as it is probably just actions they were using to test the system.
  16. Listen, just because YOUR farts are that bad, doesn't mean that everyone else's are. Lay off the skewered kebabs for it a bit. *spits juice all over the computer screen* Thanks for that, that's a laugh I really needed.
  17. I don't know, as I'm not colorblind, but do you think the sounds might have made it easier for the colorblind to do the puzzle, with an audio clue to what color they had and how they had to mix them to get the right tone? It's late here, I feel crazy, so I just thought I'd through that out there.
  18. Sounds like a new hunter minigame to me. I hardly consider Impious Impulses a hunter minigame, as it is really just an expansion area. I hope Im wrong, as I can't find any enthusiasm for anything hunter related right now, personally. Maybe it would be fun. Maybe it's high lvl hunter stuff. Either way, it sounds like a clue toward something hunting related. edit: if it is some wierd combined minigame of hunter and cooking... that... sounds.... very, very odd.
  19. Maybe that is why they are called the red ax? dragon=red colored edit: haha, great minds think alike. I wonder if we could work out the major comidity of each company by the name?
  20. Well, some times there is logic and sometimes there isn't, it really depends on the order things have been developed in. Somewhere there's a thread with a bunch of the real placement of things on it... I'll have to go looking for it... Edit: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=773195 oh, well, GDW doesn't seem to be anywhere on it . Must not have figured out where it is yet.
  21. Does anyone else have a huge different in pings at different times? Midnight my time, I had pings in the 20s... noonish my time, lowest pings I can get are in the 60s (most in the 90s) . Maybe its because my isp runs business internet lines that are the most busy durring the day so I get more bandwidth after working hours? I also live like only a few blocks from campus. But this still seems like a big difference. Could it also be how many people are on the server, rs side? I've always noticed the difference, now it's quanified... I wonder if there is anything I can do about it?
  22. My first thought was that this was the ritual stone too, but I don't think so. You can see this from Sara gdw right? Thats the south part of GW. Well, I was under the impression, perhaps mistaken, that the ritual place was north of godwars, much closer to Zemo-whatevers place. In the notes, he says that that one majaraht (spelling fail) tunneled into his basement trying to get to it, so the idea of it being closer to there seems to makes more since. I was thinking between Zemo-whatever's place and the place where we battle in WGS. edit: Also, if you assume even a little basic geograph of distance underground, we didn't put jhallen anywhere near that far south. Though, of course, we could have crawled 10 mile undergound through the cave entrance before the cave opened up, but it didn't give any indication of that in the quest Before, it has said something like "you crawled a long way through a dark, dank tunnel" in other quests if that was the way it was.
  23. I would point out that dragon armor may not be used all that much, but dragon weapons, on the other hand, are used all the time. And other than a dragon kite, which depending on the price and the stats, might be useful, everything left in the dragon set is weapons. As long as the weapon has a useful spec, it could be very, very much used. Imagine a d-shortsword with a spec like the d-dagger but even more accurate. I think that people would find a use for that. (especially if it was easier to get than claws) I agree with your argument on the d-armor, but I dont think it aplies to d-weapons.
  24. Wow, I just had a crazy thought. If the long awaited dragon pickaxe is the reward for 3 quest in the series of 5 (or whatever), what reward will the grand master final quest have? How are they doing to top the relase of the epic pickaxe... or is it all down hill, reward wise, from here?
  25. My money is on a kiteshield but I realy pray for a dragon defender. Short sword, well I'm not sure about this, if they make it its most likely just to 'finish' the dragon weapon set. But I doubt we will get a short sword anytime soon and think we will get the warhammer or even the crossbow before. I never understand why people say they should just "finish" the dragon set. It's gotten to the point where it isn't even a status symbol; it's really only worn by people who enjoy the outfit. I can't remember the last time I saw someone actually using dragon armor in combat. Since there's dozens of better and cheaper alternatives, they should just abandon dragon armor; everyone else has. (unless they opened it up to f2p, then it's a whole different story) Well, we have a complete set of Bronze through Rune, so why shouldn't dragon be complete too? It's seems logical that one day it will be completed . Anyway, what I think would be really nice is if they added some new weapons to the standard set, like morningstars or flails or something (thats just an example and yes, I know we have two different flails already in game). And yes, warhammer would be awsome. But I can also see a shortsword with a very fast, dagger like special having a use too.
