In my opinion, if people want duel arena, then they should get out of FoG and go to the damn duel arena...or pvp or whatever they want that involves no running/hiding...

I don't mean to be a downer, but...I've thought about this. And I've decided, why is Runescape "worth" anything less than anything else in life? And I also can't quite explain or completely understand what I'm about to say but...I'll try to make it semi-understandable. Runescape is just one way of spending time before we die. What's the difference if someone played rs their entire life and someone who did other things in life? They both die and that's that. Now, I'm not a religious person, and I personally don't follow a religion (and am not atheist, God may exist, maybe not). It would seem to me that someone who follows a religion has more "worth" to their life, I guess, since they feel they have something waiting after they die if they "do a good job". And who knows, maybe they do. However, maybe religion is just an adaption-type thing to keep us motivated. Personally lacking a set religion, I really have no true motivation (although I'm not going to waste my life away), and I sort of don't understand the point of existence as a whole. People live, we do stuff, and then die, and its a cycle of life. But who cares? We could all just die and then humans wouldn't exist (as far as we know) and the universe would carry on. Looking at it like this, what is the purpose of existence outside of the actual time that we live? Again, this sort of goes back to religion... So is Runescape worth it? No more or no less worth it than anything else, I say. Again, not trying to be a downer or make anyone think what I think, but that's just how I see it. And it confuses me VERY much. (:

Ok, I'm sick of seeing "Price manipulators are smart" THEY ARE NOT SMART. They aren't "outsmarting" us, they are forcing it on us. I'm not unaware of it happening and suddenly surprised that it happened. If you can't tell by what I just said, I think price manipulation is wrong. It wastes the innocent player's time when they can't buy what they need to or have to wait a long time to be able to buy it at its regular price or pay a very high price for it. All because some lazy players wanna rip off from the rest of the rs community and their hard work. How are Price Manipulators different from macroers? Bots allow a player to do nothing while their character/avatar trains a skill and makes them money. Price manipulators are no better. They take 10 seconds to put in an offer to buy an item, take 30 seconds a day to watch the price go down, then take another 10 seconds to sell their items. That's basically a process that, aside from the waiting, takes under 2 minutes. They basically do nothing and then make money. Why ban one group [bots/macroers] of people that do nothing to make money but not ban another group [price manipulators] of people who do nothing to make money? Second, how are Price Manipulators different from scammers? If anything, I'd rather have scammers over price manipulators. Scammers: Trick people into paying a much higher price for a desired item. Price Manipulators: FORCE people into paying a much higher price for a desired item. At least with scammers I get a choice... ---------- Basically, I personally don't approve of price manipulation, but also don't understand, based on what I said above, why JAGEX allows it? Price Manipulators get in the way of people who just wanna play the game and buy items they need. If Price Manipulators are too lazy to work to get money, then RS obviously isn't the right game for them.

A lot of what I am about to say has probably been said, but I'd rather not read through 47 pages (: Anyways, F2P has to work a ton harder. I'm going for smithing, pure f2p. I don't get to make way easy cash, then go smith at sc so that I can start doing 2x smithing with sc hammers. I can't use Goldsmithing Gauntlets either. Nor is it easy to lose little money or even gain money and get decent xp while smithing. Basically, F2P smithing is like 5x harder than P2P smithing. But that isn't my problem. My problem is that mems get to go around bragging about it, when I have to work way harder to get my 99 smithing and can show nothing (when I do get it). That applies to basically any skill. Now, I have no problem with mems getting mems stuff, but why should something like showing off a 99 be decided by who pays and who doesn't? And people say go mems and get a skill cape. Ok, so when my membership ends, I'm stuck wearing the cape 24/7 or I can never wear it again. That's pretty stupid, too. ------------------------------- If they were to become f2p, I also thought of the portal idea (before reading this). They could make something like a Skill Cape portal building in Lumbridge (a small building with portals to all member-area skill cape masters), and you can enter the portal to the Skill Cape master once you have the required 99. __________________________________________________________________________ Sadly, though... Mod Mmg Jagex Mod 06-Aug-2009 22:01:05 Q) Mage Dark39 will there be f2p skillcapes? -------------------------------------- A) No having looked into this more I'm not so sure it's the good idea I first thought it was, the big reason is there is not so much variety for free players at the really high levels and as a result I don't think its the best possible experience for our players to grind away repetitively at the same content for weeks on end. Naturally members have far more granular progression at high levels so I think this offers the best possible player experience and most importantly its more fun due to all the choice at the high levels. We are looking at other ways of recognizing our RuneScape Hero's both Free and Members alike, I expect this will be far more popular but its still in the early stages of development at the moment ________________________________________________________________________ I really hope it's "far more popular"

Great Orb Project - A Night in the Game
Cpchris replied to BioIce's topic in Achievements (Drops, Bank Pictures and Levels)
I've really grown to hate def... Like I'll try to push an orb when they stopped pulling it to line it up, and then walk behind it to push it in, and my character just stands there doing nothing. And I'll keep trying to push it. Then once the other guy starts pushing his orb in, my guy will shoot push-sparks out at it and they don't move it and the guy keeps pushing it. And when I push an orb in, people can push it away while I'm pushing or pulling in an orb. But when I try that on other people, my guy will just do nothing and "follow" the orb, and when it passes him, he'll just turn with it, and once it's almost in the altar, he finally decides to send push sparks out. And at that point, it's already basically in, and if it did do anything, it would push it in to the altar. I seriously don't know how to magically make my guy decide to push an orb instead of just watching the orb. It really bugs me, and that's why I hate def. And also why I hate defenders (why can they defend me even when theyre like 50 rc and just started, and I can never do anything to them?) -

Great Orb Project - A Night in the Game
Cpchris replied to BioIce's topic in Achievements (Drops, Bank Pictures and Levels)
I wouldn't take offense if i wasn't put on...just work harder to get on :P I'd say compared to other "pros" I'm about a 6/10. But I guess that's just my opinion. Some will say I'm better than that, some will say I'm worse. And yeah, usually it's pretty hard to get a bunch of people on the same team without getting fruitcakes. Around the time that I've seen pin on, it's not as hard to get people on a team without fruitcakes...the hard part is having enough people on the OTHER team to get everyone else you want on yours... and a full list would indeed take a while...and to narrow out the current players from the older ones would also get confusing...I don't believe Roki or Dood still play GOP, as well as several other people I played with around the time of the games release... And while I sometimes think it's up to the person on whether they want their names up or not...what's the difference if someone sees it here or in game? either way, anyone could find it... but Pin can have the fun of conjuring up a list of people (: -
Going for 99 Smithing
Cpchris replied to Cpchris's topic in BlogScape (Ongoing Progress Reports and Goals)
thanks :) and yeah I don't expect to get 99 until around November or December. -
Hm..Ok, well, I'm going for 99 smithing. Some side notes: -Decided I wanted 99 Smithing in February '09 at level 51 Smithing when I began to train it to get it up a couple levels. While training, I decided I liked it and wanted to get it to 99. -No other 99's yet. -Pure f2p. -I'm constantly broke. I'll usually save up until I have enough money to level, which is around 6m-7m at this point. I've spebt around 30m-35m total so far on Smithing. -Superheating has raised my Magic level a bit as well. Started at level 72 Magic, and is now 112k xp away from level 92 Magic. I plan on getting Magic to 99 sometime after Smithing. -I OFFER FREE ASSISTANCE :) I'll usually have a thread in the rs forums for it too. Just remember, I'm pure free-to-play, so only f2p items. PM me in game if you need some assistance; this username is the same as my rs one. I guess that's sort of it. I'm on vacation atm but I've been keeping screenshots of advancing levels since level 85. Seems like a good level to start screen shots to me. I'll start posting them on here when I get home tomorrow. I just made this thread for fun :)

Great Orb Project - A Night in the Game

Nice scores guys...Can't wait till saturday when I can start playing for real again! -
i see your point. personally, its not that I don't think of it as "bad" 99, along with cooking, its just that its not as impressive as something like rc or something. it more just bugs me when people brag about having a 99 in fletching or cooking to someone with a 99 in something more impressive (no offense). and about going for the easier ones first...im pure f2p, so fletchings not really there for me. cooking would be the easiest skill for me. instead, I'm going for 99 smithing first (94 atm). surprisingly, and i dont know if this makes sense, but I didn't have the patience for 99 cooking, which would have taken me about 1-2 months, and less than 15m im assuming? i've been working on 99 smithing since february (started gooing for 99 at level 51) and being a poor f2p noob, its not that easy. yet somehow, i have the patience for this instead of cooking. smithing has also raised my magic level a ton (from 71-91, with 112k xp left till 92), and so after 99 smithing i will probably go for 99 magic. I also want 99 mining, as it isn't a "buyable" skill (although i still REALLY like smithing, if you can't tell by looking at the rest of my lower-level stats), and it will go with 99 smithing pretty well, and you its not something you can afk from like fishing (don't take it the wrong way fishers, i know most of you high level fishers probably don't afk cuz you have to pay attention to changing fish spots and stuff, im just saying you can afk from it, it will just waste a lot of time). I may choose to go for 99 cooking before i go for mining, or in between mining. the last time i tried going for 99 cooking was around november, and i started as level 55 or 56, got to level 72, then gave up. i guess you could say its not easy for me =\

Great Orb Project - A Night in the Game
Cpchris replied to BioIce's topic in Achievements (Drops, Bank Pictures and Levels)
You got it on my b-day. :P =D> How do you 4-teamers get 50+ without piling? That's crazy. Or perhaps there is some here and there, but I'd love to hear the strategy, if there is any. well what im going to say has probably been mentioned but... first, 50+ isn't even super-hard with 2-3 people (assuming you don't get terrible spawns)..4 people doesn't make it much easier as you still only have 3 orbs to work with at a time. just sorta throwin that out there. second of all, theres a reason they/we are dubbed "pros". pros know how to play. and you'll see or have seen a number of different types of pros. such as: offense pros; people who are good at mainly offense (such as myself), average pros will get around 24-30 orbs on air (i usually average 28-31 on air, thus being "average"). The better pros will consistintly get around 33+ orbs on air. being "offense pros," not necessarily great at def. defense pros; people who may not be great at offense, but make up for it with great defence, who know exactly how to stop offensive players. all around pros; people who are good at both offense and defense (people like bio say these are the true pros :P). solo pros; people who are good by themselves, but may lack proper teamwork team pros; people who might not get the greatest solo scores may do very well with a second player (and no, its not just the second player who makes up for the other one) and on teams. not quite sure how it works, but i've seen it, so it's there... those are pretty much it. so basically, teams getting 50+ know how to play. as pin mentioned, orb priotiy is a key factor. many people don't prioritize orbs very well, and therefore aren't as good as they could be. orb priorit, if you didn't figure it out by its name, is knowing what orbs to get or when to get them. such as going for a closer orb that's right near the altar, instead of going for one thats much farther away. getting the closer one first will spawnt the next orb sooner, so you will be able to "plan" for that orb, instead of being more "surprised" by it. knowing your teammates is also a big part. some people I've played with don't team as well. they don't prioritize orbs (say for instance, there are two orbs the other teammate can get, and one of those that i can get, and the other person then going for the orb I can also get, which wastes time and lowers the possible score), or just don't play well with me in particular (sort of like matching styles, it may not mean the other person can't team well). getting used to what your teammate will do with certain orbs helps a lot. some people I team with poorly and will only get around 33 or so. some people (such as reborn) I can team with pretty well and easily get 45+ (on air; air is basically my reference altar). other things that usually depend on a players individual skill affect the game too. these include hugging (holding onto an orb when it's going nowhere); however most pros don't do this (hence them being "pros"). however some people will hug orbs slightly as they pull them into an area for another teammate to pull in. this stalls the orb from going in by about a second or two (being 2 minute rounds, those seconds can add up). basically, when pulling in an orb thats at an angle your teammate can't reach, click off the orb a little bit before its in his/her reach, as it will move another 2 spaces on its own, and will also allow the other person to pull it in as soon as its in his reach. this is faster than waiting to let go until after it is in his reach. now he has to wait another second or two before he can click on it to pull it in. those are basically the main things that affect the game, but with a lot more words than necessary :) if you have any questions or want me to clear something up just say so. -
I'm not religious, but it is "One nation, under God" and "In God we trust." Runnning as the "head" of a nation that says this, it doesnt make sense why she shouldn't be religious...

That's probably one of the reasons they gave them up, yes. But they forfeited a HUGE moral bargaining chip that could have been used to give them time on nuclear development. The fact that Bill somehow brought that about is undeniable. Hopefully, Fox and it's bastard children can't find some way to spin this against Obama or some other craziness, but I'm glad it happened nonetheless. You know, I saw an episode of Family Guy making fun of Fox for its more conservative views. Funny how no one complains that every single other news network is 100% extreme liberal and Obama is God. Loving the one-way world we live in...-sarcasm-

Massive Token Numbers at Great Orb Project Minigame
Cpchris replied to BeatleMusic's topic in Help and Advice
Most people that "stack" can already score 30+ easily on air, which is usually high enough to beat whatever team they're against. Stacked just makes it so you can score even higher and get more ess. and beatle...beatle beatle beatle... (you did push that orb btw, but i guess I should drop that...) I know a bunch of people that got 1m tokens. The earliest I heard of someone getting 1m was a friend who got 1m sometime in october (last year, and gop came out august 12 or 14, so it was a couple months). Who knows, I'm sure no lifers got 1m even sooner. And 1m tokens, assuming you do it constantly would take around 3 months if you played 5 hours every day. F2P that is.
