Since this is indeed a change, anyone who has invested in cogs may exchange them for a number of ships with equal price. Combat-outfitted Cog Cost: 100,000 (Note that this is cost, not upkeep. There is no more upkeep for combat oriented vessels) Upkeep: None Capacity: None, except for a crew and their supplies Galley Cost: 100,000 Upkeep: None Capacity: None, except for a crew and their supplies (Less than Cog) Special: Shorter range than Cogs. More effective than Cogs in Mediterranean. ---- NOTE: Only trading cogs are wiped every five year period. Military ships carry over like regular units.

Almost forgot. Remember that cogs cost 50,000 every five years. To make this simpler, I am wiping cogs every five years so that you have to repurchase them. Admirals and experienced fighting crews stay the way they are, but the number of cogs will resert every five years. Much easier to keep track of than upkeep. Second thing, Kievan scouts discover that there is a mountain passage behind the Mongolian citadel that is allowing them to smuggle food in. They also discover that there is a Mongolian force heading towards said citadel. :thumbup:

French War in Sri Lanka The status quo was maintained, as the Sri Lankans did not come forward to attack, and the French could not attack the enemy soldiers which hid within the nearby houses. Unless someone creates a route through the wilderness to the Pacific, the armies will have to pass through Mongolian territory regardless. It just changes how long the route is through Mongolia. Also it is possible you can pass through a different Mongolian lord's land, meaning you could find a sympathetic ear or one that isn't your enemy.

Try a few hundred thousand for sparse border patrolling. It would be more efficient to have larger armies that were ready to respond, rather than covering the entire border.

The weather wasn't even the worse thing about it. When sailing around the horn of Africa, it's a meeting of two different oceans, meaning lots of tension and instability between them. It also has a habit of forming whirlpools. Ah sorry Doom, forgot to do that. Corsica has a single castle and several thousand soldiers. I don't think the white spot near Croatia is supposed to be there. Unless someone can figure out whether that's a country or not, you can take it for free. ----- For this alliance, all we need is to go five hundred years ahead in technology, make France twice as powerful, change the name of the religion of Eden to nationalism, and change Icu's name to Napolean. :thumbup:

You could send troops by land instead of by sea, through the land routes I posted before. Of course it might be hard to get to Sri Lanka that way.

Your forces never actually engaged the Sri Lankans. All the casualties were from diseases and storms. :thumbup:

French Expedition to Sri Lanka The French navy of twenty two cogs set sail for Sri Lanka, taking the only route by sea: around the treacherous horn of Africa. They were beset by heavy gales as they attempted to cross the area into the far east, causing five cogs to crash against the rocky shoals. Meanwhile, another two cogs were heavily damaged and forced to beach, where their inhabitants were taken prisoner by the South African tribes. After arriving in Sri Lanka, the soldiers quickly learned that the "heavy gales" were actually rather mild compared to the usual dangers in the area. They marched to the home of the local strongman, which was a nicely walled manor with several dozen guards to keep out the poor. The French forces quickly pounced on the strongman and killed him. When news of the murder trickled out into the rest of the island, the strongmen began to levy their huge peasant armies. The main French army hurried into the fortification, realizing that they would be overwhelmed by sheer numbers if they tried to flank from the outside. With a large and angry force outside, the French forces began to lose hope, realizing that their food supplies were rapidly diminishing. Further, the interior spring which supplied the strongman could not supply several thousand soldiers, and the water that the soldiers could dredge up from other methods were contaminated, though it didn't stop them from drinking their fill. Casualties continued to mount from dysentry and other water-borne illnesses, though thankfully other kinds of diseases did not strike.
