Ye Olde Hegemony
I would've won that war, had my aircraft carriers not all sunken at once! Or the time when the coalition launched a massive attack on Indonesia, and despite the fact that I had fifty supercarriers, not one of them managed to respond to the invasion.

Ye Olde Hegemony
Well as soon as I can find the world maps from the previous Hegemonies, then the far east will become open for the empires, instead of just traders. Maybe open up Africa so that you can exploit its resources like in every other Hegemony we've ever played.

Ye Olde Hegemony
Archi's reign of evil terror has begun. ---- Oh, assuming that the Europeans survive the Mongols coming at you (they will receive a few reinforcements, but probaly nothing big), then I will be opening up the east to colonization, warfare, and trade. I've been playing out events in the East as I've been doing battle reports, meaning it may not be the same as the maps that you have stolen off the internet.

Pirates!
(Carried out by allies?) As soon as Isabel wakes up, she checks herself to make sure her wounds aren't bad, before leaping back into the fray with the Pirates of the Carribean-Elven swordmistress, skilled leaping attack thingy strategy.

Pirates!
Isabel repeats her swashbuckling Pirates of the Carribean style fighting style against those noobs.

Hooray, let's try to raise a civilization once again with a bad climate for crops and Sarah Palin as one tenth of the gene pool!

Ye Olde Hegemony
Basically this is only part of their forces. I have to give them reinforcements every five years or else you would simply outnumber them and prevail due to your budget resets. :)
-
Pirates!
Isabel goes charging into the fray, slashing at the noobs with her elven speed and dexterity. The main tactic is to use her light sword's incredible speed, parrying in one half of a second and slashing with the other half, all the while leaping and dodging. She does this to some Pirates of the Carribean music. Think Yoda.
-
Pirates!
Isabel continues with the strategy, making sure to be inconspicious, so that she doesn't draw attention to herself.
-
Pirates!
Isabel waits cautiously behind her ally (Grim) in defensive position. When an enemy comes to attack Grim, she waits until she spots a weakness. Then she takes advantage of the oppertunity and flanks them, using her great sword speed to catch them off guard.

Ye Olde Hegemony
It wasn't a defence plan in this case, but it helps remind me. You don't have to send it in a recent PM, but if you don't, I might forget it.
-
Pirates!
Isabel leaps onto the ramparts of the base with her amazing elven agility, hoping to see Grim. Then she comes alongside him and starts fighting the enemies, standing in defensive stance.

Ye Olde Hegemony
Maybe it's because I haven't received any notification of it on my PMs for over two weeks. I never check the thread when doing battle reports, only occasionally when doing plague reports, since they're all on one page. Also, I trust everyone to keep their budgets in order, since I don't keep track of those that carefully, except when you start spending huge sums of money.
-
Pirates!
Isabel checks her wounds to make sure everything is nicely patched up, so that it doesn't cause her any problems. Assuming she is only slightly wounded at this point, Isabel heads towards the base, but only if she won't have any problems fighting with her injuries.
-
Pirates!
Isabel tries to find a place to hide somewhere in the forest.

Mongolian Theater The powerful Kievan army bumbles along its newly constructed supply routes into Mongolia, claiming dozens of miles of pristine wilderness, without encountering any Mongolian forces whatsoever. Unfortunately, that didn't mean Europe was out of the woods. A surprise force of fifty thousand Mongolian horsemen rode south into Persia, before swinging back up behind the Kievan army and towards the European heartlands. The unprepared continental Europeans were saved by the forces of a small island nation clinging to an active fault line in the Atlantic. General Rakvel and his five thousand Hlaupari from Iceland rode out to meet them, knowing the consequences for a surprise Mongol attack could be dire. He knew that he could not meet the Mongols in open combat, for the Mongolian horse archers would easily slaughter his forces. His forces would have to attack the Mongols in unfamilliar terrain, away from the steppes where they lived and trained. The Mongolian host rode through the desert, south of modern-day Turkey. They encountered several Turkish tribes, whose horse archers gave the Mongols some trouble in the unfamilliar terrain. However, these were quickly crushed. Messengers from the tribes rode at once towards the Byzantine Empire and northwards to Kiev to inform them of the surprise attack. The messenger heading west to the Byzantine empire arrived before the Mongols could make it over the mountains in Turkey, but it was too late to warn the Europeans. The messenger heading to Kiev was intercepted by a unit of Hlaupari, who quickly passed the news to General Rakvel. He immediately saw the oppertunity, and set an ambush in the mountains. There was only time to bring five hundred Kievan knights and two thousand peasant archers, who were living as landowners in the area, to the battle. Five thousand Hlaupari, five hundred Kieven Knights, and two thousand peasant archers against fifty thousand Mongolians were not very good odds, but Rakvel knew he had to take the risk. The conditions were not ideal either. Rakvel's Hlaupari had to hold land, which constrained the advantages of Hlaupari mobility. The land was mountainous and arid, conditions that the Hlaupari were not as accustomed to. Finally, the Mongolians had to stopped or delayed at all costs, a constraint that Rakvel did not appreciate, as the Hlaupari often prefered gaining the advantage and damaging a force before retreating and attacking again in the future. Rakvel had chosen a set of mountainous crossings, the easiest way to pass through the terrain. There were three trading roads in number, roughly wide enough for a large wagon drawn with two horses to pass. The problem was that Rakvel had no knowledge of which mountain pass the Mongols were taking, if not all three. The mountain passes all crossed a single large chain of mountains, roughly five miles apart from each other. Rakvel drew his forces up to the mountain chain, and told four thousand of his Hlaupari to dismount. The remaining Hlaupari waited on horseback on the trade routes a mile past the mountain chain, allowing quick reinforcement if necessary. The knights were split evenly between the mountain passes, prepared to block passage when necessary. The Mongolians were in marching order. The flamboyantly dressed heavy lancers rode in front, five thousand in number. Ten thousand light lancers rode behind them, while thirty thousand Mongolian horse archers took up the rear with fourtyfive hundred heavy dismounted lancers and five hundred naffatun. As the heavy lancers rode within several dozen feet of the mountain pass, the battle began. Rakvel blew the first horn, and the Hlaupari stationed further up the mountain on the pass launched boiling oil from various improvised devices, scalding the first several rows of the heavy lancers. Then the peasant archers fired a volley of arrows, before a thousand Hlaupari leaped out of the shadows of the pass, and charged with their chain weapons, doing heavy damage against the disorganized lancers. Another thousand Hlaupari charged next down the pass in smaller groups, as the dismounted Hlaupari climbed to the side of the road and slashed the Mongols with their chains from the side. However, the Mongolian general was not fazed, and ordered his horse archers to fire. Despite hitting some of his own men in the back, the arrow barrage penetrated the light armor of the Hlaupari, causing Rakvel to send his soldiers back. The Mongolians moved their dismounted soldiers forward and began to advance again, but the Hlaupari were ready once again and slashed the soldiers that advanced, while taking moderate casualties from the spear armed soldiers. The Mongolians began overpowering the Hlaupari, forcing Ravkel to bring his remaining forces from the other passes to the fight, leaving only skeleton crews to guard against a Mongolian sneak attack. Meanwhile, most of the Mongolian army had already fled and taken the other pass through the mountains, leaving only a small force to fight the Hlaupari. Ravkel immediately saw this and ordered his battered forces to retreat down the pass and intercept the Mongolian force. The Hlaupari barely managed to reach the river crossing which all the passes led to before the Mongols, as the pass he was defending was shorter. The Mongolian general was incredibly irritated and ordered his forced over the river crossing, even when he could've set up his siege engines and taken them out slowly. Rakvel ordered all his soldiers into the river, sensing that defending on land would be futile, as the crossing opened wider as it came to shore. The Mongolian horse archers continued to rain arrows down on the fight, killing many of their own men. It looked like the fight was turning, but the Mongolian naffatun came into play, decimating the Hlaupari. Rakvel drowned as he was tossed by the Mongolian calvery, as did many of his men. Meanwhile, the Mongolian horse archers, which emerged unscathed from the ambush, rode ahead towards Europe in raiding parties, while the lancers regrouped and prepared to join them. However, Rakvel had asked the local people to begin damming the river days earlier, and the stunt proved worthy. As the wall of water from the broken dam slammed into the disorganized lancers, they were decimated and swept down the river. Casualties Iceland 5000 Hlaupari Rakvel 500 Kieven knights (from local area and not part of the army) 2000 peasant archers Mongols 10000 Light lancers 2500 Heavy Lancers 2500 Dismounted Lancers Result: Tactically a victory, though not as large as the Icelandic government wanted. Strategically, a major victory. Probaly saved Kiev, Poland, and Bulgaria from being steamrolled in a surprise attack. Plague has not managed to spread- Pirates!
So now it's up to me for this game to start? I'll go and start the update then. However, I usually write the update over an hour, while doing other things, like building a second timber house in HH because my first one is full of mutton. Okay, keep your eyes peeled for an update in about 10-15 minutes.- Pirates!
Heh, I've always been a strategy gamer at heart. -Hides world conquering ambitions- To answer your question on the other thread, the next update will be this evening, after I eat, like usual. Also, remember the motto of dwarf fortress. Losing is fun!- Something Zombie Related
