  1. That would make runecrafting a complete novelty skill (like smithing is now). What should be done is make armour also expensive to use: make everything degrade and the prices about 10-20 times as high. But alas, runescapians hate it when a feature gets "nerfed" even if it would balance the game. My idea would be to give all monsters in game some kind of elemental weakness that makes specific spells hit a % harder on them like Icestrykes already have with firesurge. Fire giants weak to water spells but resistant to fire spells, for example. If you can kill monsters by casting less spells, magic becomes economical for PVM without having to change anything else in game. SoA seems like a powerful but unnecessary addition to magic. A powerful spell powered by an unusual rune. Zaros Rune pls...
  2. This skill is strange. It looks like a mini game because theres just 1 dungeon to raid. Its like the agility skill with only 1 agility course available all through out RS. If there were more Damonheimish dungeons scattered through out RS then it would look more like a skill. Beginner dungeon, intermediate dungeon and so on. Also, I don't get the tokens. You need the dung skill requirement to use a scroll or wield the item so why put a token thing into the system?
  3. I'd still play RS if it became class based. As long as we can switch classes the same way we change spell books. Runescapes classes are more like attack styles, changeable at any time simply by flipping your equipment. But with a non permanent changeable class system that limits your equipment, prayers and spells, combat will be more diverse. No more hybrid warriors wearing dhide, tank rangers or mages that freeze then KO with a melee/range weapon. Not only does it fix the triangle but it also encourages players to form parties to cover for their weaknesses instead of hybriding. I have nothing against hybrids but this system does encourage team work. Also, imagine the possibilities of new classes. Healer class with no fighting ability but has healing spells and group buffing prayers to support party members. Summoner class that can't directly fight but summons multiple familiars in various ways to support the party. With new classes comes new equipment, new prayers, new spells, new dungeons, etc. There might even be group training options like combat exp share and such. Has lots of possibilities.
  4. I'm actually more interested as to why he chose the 2nd age of RS, who this mage is and what happened to the mage rather than the rewards from Shattered Heart. Wasn't the 2nd age when Zaros was still around? Also, a heart rune? A forgotten type of rune? I don't think we'll get new spells but there might some interesting back story about what kind of magic was used during the 2nd age. Maybe even more forgotten runes.
  5. I thought the staff's spec was designed to counter KO from melee. All these high end weapons that came out, taking 3/4 players hit points in the least number of turns possible, a defensive ability or spec like this was due. Soul split, blood barrage, divine shield, deflect melee curse and SoL spec; pile all you want, you're not gonna kill a mage with melee.
  6. I think players will mostly use Surges for PvM while Barrages for PvP.
  7. Abyssal Whip, Dark Bow and finally Staff of Light. And mages and rangers also got black mask style slayer support. That staff has +15% magic damage. I wonder if that'll get higher in future added mage weapons. Also, another damage mitigating item. It counters KO!
  8. They don't need to change the spec bar usage on the claws. Why? Because its a melee weapon. Most likely it will simply be over shadowed by an even more POWERFUL melee weapon introduced in the future. Same applies to godswords. If it was a range weapon or something that boosts magic then that'd be a different story.
  9. Looks like the Oculus Orb wasn't designed for you to shoot yourself in your own movie. But you can use it to shoot other people playing as actors in your movie.
  10. It does look like that castle in Tail of Two Cats quest.
  11. I think I remember somewhere on the forum a player asked Mod Emilee about why meleers got turmoil and mages and rangers didn't get an equivalent type of support curse. She replied, mage and range versions of turmoil will be added later or something along those lines, can't remember.
  12. If money isn't so important, I would suggest combat using the normal spell book. Get yourself some sacred clay robes and go mage some monsters. Battle spells are auto castable so you won't need to click all the time unlike alching. Also SC robes doubles the XP of both the base XP and damage XP of the battle spell. Interestingly enough, in pest control, damage XP is cut in half during the mini game but not base XP when casting spells. SC robes will still double your base XP normally even in PC. A lot of slayer monsters are magic based melee so mage robes gives defense agaisnt them too. Sure not as much as d'hides but I've always wondered why hides would be more resistant to magical forces compared to actual magical items. Go to Gutanoth and safe spot blue dragons with mage while wearing sacred clay. Try Kalaphite Guardian. They're so big its difficult not to safe spot them and they have no mage defense. Use slayer dart on barrows. Your ammo recycles there with a chance of barrows armor drop. Wait till you get the surge spells. It'll be easier from there.
  13. Well Jagex is a company focused on satisfying their customers and to do that, they don't want to offend their customers. There are a lot of obsolete and unbalanced content in the game mostly because of giving what the majority of the players want. For the sake of customer satisfaction, the customers come first before the sake of the product. I can understand that but they must have had a good reason to tweak the stats on the BA items. They should have stuck with it. They'll never be able to improve Runescape in the way they want if they keep changing their minds on just a few rants. They'll lose the ranters as players but thats good ridance, IMO. They'll always get new players players.
  14. Wow, makes me want to get my agility up. That skill needed more integration with the other skills. Now if they'll only make Fire Making more useful somehow other than destroying resources. And if they are improving mini games, I wish they'd improve Stealing Creations. Not the game itself but that game needs more rewards. Some people have thousands of SC points not knowing what to do with them. Also, the fighter torso got nerfed. I won't be surprised if they start modifying stats of already existing equipment as part of their combat triangle rebalance thing. It seems like it'll be done over a period of multiple updates instead of one big shocking one for the rebalance.
  15. Summoning itself isn't the problem. Its the combat level of the player itself is messed up. If summoning reflected a higher combat level, leading you to believe that player has better combat effectiveness, then shouldn't equipment worn at the time along with combat items like food and pots also reflect on the players combat level? I was thinking a cb level player of 130 wearing nothing isn't gonna win against a level 100 player equipped with the best stuff their skill levels allow them to use. For me, a summoning pouch is like a pot or a food item in your inventory. So summoning's reflection on the combat level "for me" seems off... Along with relation to equipment and how your character is geared for combat.
  16. I always thought that your prayers being drained when changing to ancient magic was because the prayer points had to be offered to Zaros for him to give us the favor of his magics. Kind of like how the prayers slowly drains when using it to gain favor from what ever god the character prays to. BTW, a little off topic, maybe. I remember that when Juna got mad at the character for helping the goblins defy Bandos, her reasoning was that the character becomes the enemy of all gods. Bandos brought the goblins to RS and in doing so, he owns the goblins like the character would own a weapon. We did not have the right to defy Bandos of his possesion. But if you remember, Zaros did the same thing. Itcharin brought the mahjarrats to RS but Zaros took them from him. Willingly or not, Zaros influenced the mahjarrats to defy their original god. I like Zaros because he seems so defiant in a good way. Like our character.
  17. What about the passive effects of familiars that boosts combat skills? What about the Wolpentinger scroll that boosts magic levels. They don't need to attack along side you, they just need to be there for their invisible boosts and stuff. Then again pots seem to be better at it.
  18. I guess Nomad's quest is this year's only GM quest and the ritual quest isn't one. I just recently finished WGS and looks like Lucien wants to rule over the other Mahjarrats using the Stone of Jas as leverage. He might bring it to the ritual. I hope Azzandra doesn't die but I can't remember if he ever mentioned if he's going to attend the ritual himself.
  19. I played soul wars once thinking I could train my slayer that way. The game itself isn't bad but its a total lag fest. Theres like 400 people on the battle field at one time, you can't see what you're doing. I never played it again. Although I think you can get 30 blue charms for like 32 zeal pts or something. I thought GM quests would be... epic. I mean, like an important part of a long going story line. Players hardly know Nomad. Unless Nomad is a mahjarrat.
  20. Aside from his goals of being a god, Lucien doesn't really want to slaughter all his Mahjarrat "brothers". At least from what I could remember, he wants all the known leaders of Runescape to be replaced by Mahjarrats. He wants to rule over them as the lord of the Mahjarrats too. He needs the stone of Jas to do this during the ritual. Some kind of "insurance" to convince his fellow Mahjarrats to side with him and pick him as their leader because some of them are Zarosians. Nice quest idea though. I do agree that Zarosian Mahjarrat allies will be quite helpful in fighting Lucien.
  21. You can cannon them in DIR. I also trained herblore using mage ess pots from them. :)
  22. The prayer curses are invisible and the magic curses require stat restores to fix. But do they stack together if used on the same target?
  23. The old magic curses have always been useless for their original purpose. People just use them to train magic while wearing metal armor. I guess if their effect stacked on their target but... thats not gonna happen.
  24. I'm 78 RC and never really had a problem with runes but yeah, magic needs the highest level of rune to cast their best battle spells. And the damage, at least in PvM, doesn't really give the mage an edge. Jagex would probably argue that the consolation that you get for the cost of casting battle spells is the base xp which melee and range do not have. Kill a 2 hp chicken by melee or range and all you get is 2 hp worth of xp. Kill it with fire surge and you get 90+ xp. But then again who wants to kill chickens?
  25. They may just add new staves with varying magic damage % boosts instead of modifying older existing ones. But it is annoying that some staves have never to be used melee attack stats that are better than their magic attack stats. It might also be the reason why they nerfed the extreme mage pot. As in they don't want the bulk of magic damaging power to come from pots alone. They want some equipment involved too.
