What is the current system for choosing them? Out of curiosity of course. It wouldn't have anything to do with having certain specific friends, now would it?
-
That's exactly what you're doing right now... just saying.
-
This is exactly what is wrong, you are incapable of understanding the problem. It's okay, I give up. And please, in the future, don't call me an idiot. I think that's a banable offense these days. Leaving this alone now to avoid your banhammer.
-
Not according to your mods, yet another cause of anger. And Player A almost always has the most correct information.
-
Lord in the heavens above. Are you actually thinking about what you're typing? GOD :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: Yeah so now we have to include every detail, history, future, assumptions and possible update affects connected to our answer just incase a troll enters the conversation ans nay-say's our method? Great thinking, bro! I see nothing wrong with what he said. Just because some troll comes along after you and says something different, doesn't mean your arguement gets thrown out the window. And of course you have to provide detail if you want to back up your method. Let's take a fury vs glory arguement. Player A says: Fury is best. Player B says: Glory is good too, and 15m cheaper. Obviously, this could cause some thinking for the OP to decide whether or not 15m was worth some extra bonuses. Player A says: Fury is better, and gives some evidence as to why 15m is worth the extra bonuses. Player B says: Glory is cheaper. Then of course the OP would take Player A's advice more seriously, and there would be no need for Player A to come back and flame player B. It's a lot easier then that for an idiot to sound smart on the internet. Another problem is that Player B will believe they are right all along and argue to their last breath.

There is no mechanism in place from preventing anyone from giving false or bad information. That is horrible if you are giving out good information. Please, start frequenting H&A, you will notice this trend.
-
This is the internet. People post things that are not facts as facts all the time on here. Person A is doing their best to help. If they weren't there the OP would take the bad advice of Person B. It's a huge problem in that specific forum, you can chose to ignore it but it is one of the roots of this conflict. Then I don't see the problem. You post a guide for TIF users, and only TIF users get to see/benefit from it. No-one takes it, claims it, or does anything else with it. If selfishness is the motivation for "hating" on that, I'm sorry to say tough luck. To compare that with my situation, guides I (or any other Crewbie) write are published on the main site, in databases or whatever. If I went about behaving like some users have, attacking and insulting others because I felt they were ignorant or stupid, or simply because I didn't like them, and eventually got myself thrown off the Staff (rightfully so I might add), would that mean I get to demand any work I did for the community should be undone? Does the community deserve to suffer simply because I happen to have a rage fit? I think not. Like I said, there is a difference between sinking to a troll's level, and being a better person. Eventually whoever asks for advice will see the difference between a troll and a better person, and thus value one's advice more than the other's. AoW guides are (lets face it) more up to date and generally better then main site guides. Why? Because they are personal projects, managed usually by a single person who invests themselves in it. In that sense it is different from your situation. If it is their very, very explicit wish to remove the guide, then why shouldn't it be removed? If it isn't then that personal investment is being claimed from them, taken from them. The community will not suffer, usually that person will repost it somewhere else. Also, if these people are so "bad" then why keep their guides?

Yes, the mods were nice enough to leave a clan topic open in H&A because we knew it would be useful. Removed by the clan leaders. From what I've heard they aren't feeling too positive about the way these forums are dealing with people who contribute their time, knowledge and experience.

This is in reference to the H&A forum, but applies to a lot of discussion here. OP asks a question. Person A gives an excellent answer. Person B (troll) argues that something far inferior, is better. Person A takes the time to in detail explain why their correct answer in in fact correct. This is the annoying part is it can take massive time. Person B fails to comprehend and still insists their method is best. Now, if person A walks away now they are doing OP a disservice. OP cannot know which is actually best if they are asking in the first place. So what options do they have, abandon their hard work and the OP or argue. This doesn't seem so bad as an isolated incident, but when it happens EVERY SINGLE DAY WITHOUT FAIL IT WILL DRIVE A PERSON CRAZY. That is how it is out of context. When you swim through a sea of trolls and burst at a one or two of them, it shouldn't be as big a deal. I know the user they were directed at. He often posts in ways that mean he is either a troll or stupid. It is very, very, very frustrating. This is a huge issue with the H&A forum, that people are allowed under the rules to give absolutely incorrect advice. When you dedicate so much to helping the community it is really horrible to have to deal with this sort of crap.

I heard there was a really good interactive dungoneering guide in H&A in the form of a clan, I wonder if that will be removed too. Also, there goes the hope for a Tip.It Nex guide that is actually any good.
-
First, some of those are out of context. Don't pretend they aren't, I've recognize them and I know. The fact of the matter is it IS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING when you are trying to help people and trolls interfere. This makes people mad, it's natural. Please, try posting a little in H&A and you will understand. Isn't the bottom line what everyone contributes to the community? Don't the contributions of individuals-who-I'm-afraid-to-name-specifically-for-fear-of-being banned outweigh their... zeal when dealing with certain types. They tried to explain in the locked thread how it is possible to become frustrated easily in the environment here. They are 100% right in that regard. Edit: @ Jaffy The copyright thing is in regards to a forums guide, not a website guide. He wasn't attacking you.
-
Despite the fact that due to some fine print it is legally Tip.Its, I personally think that it is theft. Honestly, how does it reflect on this site if this sort of thing goes on. Guide writing should be encouraged. Under the current system I would NEVER write a guide for this forum if, even though it was my personal guide, it could remain here against my wishes. I would like to see the thread taken down. I think a public apology would also be appropriate given the current situation.
-
No, it will let me, and I presume others like me, to judge the situation for ourselves and gauge whether or not we want to be part of this community. The way it is now I honestly don't trust the mods here if they keep us in the dark. Since this effects everyone, everyone has a right to know.
-
Yes, I agree, I have tried to stay impartial and not get too mixed up in all of this but... It doesn't look well at all when you (the moderation) isn't public. Because the people you take action against often are. We have all been watching and from the perspective of most users it seems, what has happened is really wrong. I love this website. You have no idea, there is no way I would be playing this game if not for this. But that is why I feel it is all the more important that somehow this is resolved, that there is closure.
-
Once again, typed out a decently long response then deleted it. Too scared to post anything critical.
-
I think there needs to be a new policy concerning how H&A is modded. Today was a bad day for this community. I'm afraid to say what I really think. People who are openly critical of the mods are getting banned, what is this turning into?
-
Then don't hesitate, DO IT. Extremes >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Fury
-
Void, for more reasons then I care to post. Essentially though penance won't boost your DPS at all or be worthwhile in any monster hunting situation.
-
That's a good suggestion. There's plenty we don't know though. Hundreds of hours of research worth. My running list is already much longer than I intend to tackle on my own. If there is anything I can help with, PM me.
-
GE almost certainly.
-
How the runes ZMI give change as you level runecrafting? The average amount of each rune per 1k essence at any level? Hmm, there isn't much left that we don't know.
-
I have the same problems with the fire cape, it really sucks. As for the Strykworms, you need to be on task to kill them.
-
I would leave the super attacks in the GE, you will be able to sell them when the next bonus exp weekend hits. The others sell if you need the cash, you likely won't make back that money. If anything their prices will drop even more.
-
Super Attacks will go back up with the next bonus exp weekend. I predict September or so. Decanting now will make them easier to sell then. Might as well leave them in the GE for however much you want for them and try your luck until then. The economy right now is experiencing a bit of deflation so chances are prices on claws and tasset won't go up. Good news is that 10m isn't much money, 4 hours worth at low incomes.

Use the best boost prayers you can, for their cost they give a massive boost to dps. The boost is much cheaper then ovl, to put it in perspective. Edit: Ninja'd, Quyneax, you should keep score of how many people you ninja in here.
