This guy is correct. Maples give most profit due to nests. 9 workers is enough to get the max number of nests. Coal is the 2nd best money maker to use.

The Steel Dragon Guide (Outdated)
GlobalSmack replied to Blaze The Movie Fan's topic in General Guides
When this guide was written, Steel Dragons were one of the highest leveled monsters one could fight. Dragon Platelegs used to be a several mil gp. If this out-dated guide is to get updated, you should probably re-familiarize yourself with the game some more. You lack much knowledge of what new things have happened to many of the combat-related places, items, and skills. Currently i see the guide lacks -new locations of steel dragons -changes in value of item drops -potential effigy drops not mentioned (and already mentioned) -Better magics -Better Armours -Familiars -Better Potions Only reason why i ever kill them now if for the potential vissy/effigy drops and as slayer tasks. The weapon and runes that drop just help to break even. -
Currently working on gathering information for each location of the new area. Give me a good day or two to propagate this with some good healthy information :D The goal of this guide will be to provide information as to the statistical parts of this skill. A small portion will be focused on HOW TO. Due to the constant flux of changing prices, I won't give a strong focus to price rates. I will touch on it a little though. GUIDE PROGRESS Getting Started Recommended Items Locations Ceremonial Swords Burial Armour Tracks Cannon Repair Rewards Summary Getting Started [hide][/hide] Recommended Items [hide][/hide] Locations [hide] Ceremonial Swords [hide] Making a Perfect Sword Creating swords is not difficult and it can be pretty easy to keep a consistently high percentage. Start off by getting your hard hits out of the way (Anything 4 or less). Then do your mediums (Anything that is 3 away) After that, do soft hits that are 1 away from their mark. This is where you start to make choices based on Cooldown. You should be left with only sections that require 2 hits. Start with the tip of the blade first. Always hit with soft hits until you reach the required 8. If you don't have enough Cooldown to simply make soft hits to finish out the blade, you will need to use some medium hits until you either run out or reach a point where you can finish out doing soft hits. It is very possible to hit a hard 5 when you need a 4. Hitting a medium 3 when you want a 2 happens as well. And a rare 2 can come out of a soft hit. This variance happens. Keeping your blade from breaking is most important. Just avoid making medium hits when going from 4 to 6 and from 6 to 8. Here is a full list of suggested hits if needed [hide][/hide] Times and Rates [/hide] Burial Armour [hide] This is probably the simplest way to train here. It can require very little clicking from the user. How you make armour is simple. 1) Get Bars 2) Smith Armour 3) Deposit Armour 4) Repeat An ideal inventory will consist of a hammer, noted ores, and 25 empty spaces. Based on the number of game ticks actions take, the most inventories that can get would be 19. 15 is a bit more realistic. XP RATES Prices are always changing. For GP/XP rates, check the linked google doc. Prices are updated based on Grand Exchange Guide Prices. http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AmzuAfbFuFSVdC1RT1lRSW45ZDJPdENuQ2F4ME1kdkE&hl=en Also, Sacred Clay Hammers can be used to make ceremonial armours. If you plan to make armour that will give an XP rate lower than 120k per hour, these hammers would be very helpful. The 10% and 5% boosts from bought rewards and following Current Instructions is factored in before the clay hammer doubles xp. (XP * .1 * .05 * 2) [/hide] Tracks [hide] Building tracks is good if you are a low level smither. This activity is not recommended for high XP gains. If you need instruction on how to make tracks, you can watch a tutorial the the gnome there gives. Surprisingly, this section of the workshop is the only place where the dwarfs don't expect to be given everything for free. They actually provide the bars that will be used for their tracks. This is unusually odd considering how they expect humans to provide the raw materials used for burring dead dwarfs. During all of the dwarf quests, dwarfs have shown an extreme animosity towards humans. I sure hope the dwarfs lighten up everyone gives them tons of burial armour and hand-crafted swords. [/hide] Cannon Repair [hide] The xp from the Cannon Repair is alright for mid-level smithers. It requires players to rebuild 4 sections of a cannon and test it. Each complete cannon grants the player with 3,846xp. The 1st part of the cannon can require Steal II Ignots to replace broken cogs. The testing phase will also require 2 Ignots to make balls with for testing. This means anywhere between 2-12 bars may be required for completion of a cannon. Each cannon will take about 3.5 minutes to repair on average. This pace would come out to 17 cannons per hour. You can expect to see 60-70k xp/hr repairing cannons. This activity doesn't seem to yield great xp and still has a rather high cost. Not recommended if you have over level 70 smithing. [/hide] [/hide] Rewards [hide] [/hide] SUMMARY [hide] [/hide] *All information gathered in this guide was retrieved with a Smithing level of 90.*

For my Black Demon and Abby Demon tasks, I can kill and bank ashes pretty easily. They are both fairly easy to kill and bank with or without a yak. Nechreals are a bit more tedious to bank while killing, so I'll take an urn to their tasks. I also bring urns to tasks like Greater Demons, who can fill up an urn every 125 kills. Just keep in mind that every urn is 40-50k gp worth of prayer xp. Each infernal ash is almost equivalent to a dragon bone both in xp yeild and price and will usually keep within a short range of the dragon bone's value.

I'd recommend trying to find friends to 2-4 man with before considering doing floors solo. I have a few 100+ dungeoneering friends that have never stepped foot near w117 or any of the dungeoneering clan worlds. They've done all their floors with a select group of friends, usually doing floors as duo and trio teams. See if raiding in small groups with friends is a viable option. As for when you raid your floors, I'd suggest doing them similarly to how a 5-man team would typically do floors. Clear monsters only when needed (guardian doors and difficult puzzle rooms). Do as many bonus rooms as possible and skip when the extra rooms don't seem to be worth the extra time. Contrary to what was said earlier, the SS Hood is still the #1 bind you will want to have, even if you run maps solo. The SS Hood allows you to rush and not get piled as heavily. For now, your bound items should be: SLOT 1: SS Hood > Prom Plate SLOT 2: Prom 2h or Primal Bax Play around with your ammo slot if needed. Some people like to have Saggi Arrows each map, some like the Surgebox, and some just use law runes to help with their C1's. I say that's a personal choice I think you got the right idea for your floorst. 1-30 C1 and 30+ as full team/map works fine. Nothing is wrong with running some of the the other abandoned floors as med/larges if you got a team that wants to run those floors. I can't say much about any of the lower level DG clans out there. Staying ahead of the curve helps avoid having to use them.

Well, for most of the skills, it's better to simply not do stealing creation. Skills like Smith, Con, and Craft are done mostly to save money regardless of the time spent getting tools. To determine if you will spend less overall time skilling by getting tools, simply compare your normal xp rates with the bonus xp rate on the chart. If you're getting less xp normally, then get some tools. Take mining for instance. At 4.5 tools per hour, you'd get about 31k bonus xp an hour while playing stealing creation. If you plan on mining slower items like coal, mith, and addy then clay tools may improve the overall time spent gaining xp. If you're powermining granite or digging concentrated gold, which gives 40-80k xp an hour, then using tools will slow you down in the long run. The only skills I would recommend using tools for would be Fletching and Woodcutting. Construction, Smithing, are Crafting have the gp saving factor, so they are also very useful to get clay tools for.

*added combat stats to the listing *added space to determine how much extra xp you are actually gaining (this is basically how much xp/hr you gain while playing stealing creation)

This is a simple tool that will allow you to create a set of goals and find out how many Stealing Creation tools and points you will need to complete it. The spreadsheet pulls information from the high score table, so the only input needed is a name and ending levels. https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AmzuAfbFuFSVdDlpYWpmamc2NDlERjVJM21xQjlTRnc&hl=en&authkey=CIeW8-MK Tell me what you think :)

Well, I had some goals...then Jagex threw me a curve ball that I was unable to resist. I've been using all the play time I have available for Dungeoneering. I've found this new addition to the game to be very enjoyable. One thing that almost every MMORPG had that RuneScape lacked is Group Instanced Dungeon Raiding. The closest thing available was group boss killing, if you want to consider camping/farming a single monster spawn as a close comparison to Instanced Raids. Dungeoneering fits the gap with near-perfection. I have very few complaints with this new activity. The fact that they made it a skill rather than a mini game was a great idea. The most common thing done in RuneScape is train skills. Mini-games don't get nearly the same amount of time players give to mini game (aside from games with xp rewards like Pyramid Plunder or Stealing Creation). The fact that this activity is a skill will generate a continuous flow of players actively participating in the skill. If were a mini game, the population playing the game would be nowhere close to what would be ideal. So I think Jagex made a great decision in making this activity a skill. One or two years down the road, this will still be an activity that people will be playing often because people will want those levels. This wouldn't be the case if it were a mini game. The activity itself was implemented very well. I love how they incorporated a player's skills into each raid. It gives players with both high and low stats a challenging experience. Changed I'd like to see: Improvements with 'Solo Raiding' As this is a skill, I think people should be able to participate by themselves if they choose. I think some better reward rates would've been nice to have. Better Grouping System I know Jagex was trying to prevent people that wanted to 'grind' levels, but it made it confusing for many players. Either a tweaking to the floor system, or a better way to educate players would be great. Things I'd like to see in the future: Larger Dungeons, Larger Groups I love the way things are now, but I know they could get bigger. As people train this skill more, I'm sure high level updates will be in its future. I'd love to see dungeons that offer larger rooms and larger bosses. I think it'd be great to have HUGE, massive raids that' would require 8-10 players. Perhaps in the distant future, Dameonheim won't be the only place to train Dungeoneering? MY DUNGEONEERING RATING: 5 of 5      [spoiler=MERCHANT LIST]just a small addition...been so worked up in this skill that I haven't bother with other skills/merchanting

hmm...that is interesting I suppose if you have a lower level, then that is possible. I can get all of them mined before the first one respawns though. I'll have to make a note about that, since it'd be better to avoid the surface crowds. ....i usually can get rid of other miners within the first 15 minutes or so
-
the fact that banking takes about 4-5 seconds...I say no. I don't have xp rates for dropping, but I'd imagine it would slow down by a little bit. It would cause you to stop mid-run though the gem rocks though. If you bank after you mine all the rocks, by the time you get back, they just start respawning. So even for the few seconds where a new player logs into your world, you can still easily claim all the rocks. The main goal is to control the rocks and get them while they're spawning.

Just made some adjustments...it was a little unfinished before I went to bed yesterday.

This guide should give a closer look at gem mining and ways to make it extra efficient. INTRODUCTION Requirements: Access to Shilo Village Completion of entire Karamja Dairies 20 Mining (this is the minimum...the higher, the better) Rings of Dueling or Amulets of Glory NOT REQUIRED, but access to a Dragon Pickaxe and Mining-boosting familiars can be helpful Gem Mining Benefits: 30k+ XP per hour 750k + GP per hour Good source of Uncut Gems INVENTORY Here is an Ideal Inventory of items you NEED to carry with you. ARM: Dragon Pickaxe, Rune Pickaxe HAND: Karamja Gloves 3 (no substitute) RING: Ring of Dueling NECK: Amulet of Glory BACKPACK: EMPTY MINING 'HOW TO' Here is a list of the process you will be doing: Teleport to Shilo using your gloves Mine the gems in an easy-to-remember pattern DROP 2 OPALS * As gems respawn, repeat the mining pattern Teleport to a bank and dump all the gems REPEAT *There are 15 total rocks, so after two trips through the rocks, you have 2 extra gems. It's easiest to drop between respawns. When you start mining, a clear world will be best. Higher level miners will have an easier time bullying others off their world. Lower level miners may have to hop around. Just remember, this is a public mining area, therefore it is ok for it to be a competitive activity. Once you claim a clear world, it's best to have the rocks respawn in a pattern. Typically, I'll go from east to west on the surface, then run a circle around the underground. You want to be able to easily predict and know which rock will spawn again next. That is the basic approach of how you will be mining. Optimizing Gear Familiars: : Obsidian Golem | Level 73 Summoning | Boosts Mining +7 | Lasts 55 Minutes : Lava Titan | Level 83 Summoning | Boosts Mining +10 | Lasts 61 Minutes Any Foraging Familiar can also be beneficial here. Pickaxes: Metal Pickaxes, use the best one you can Sacred Clay Pickaxes, they are comparable to rune in speed and lasts about 15k xp. Due to their short life span, I never recommend using Sacred Clay Pickaxes for mining. Penance Horn: Gives double xp without removing the dpick's speed. Exactly how much time it takes to fill and how long they last is still debatable. Use them as you see fit. XP and GP Rates As you can see, it's just a simple repetitive task...but how does the XP and GP gains stack up? Here is a graph. Link to Google Doc of This Graph The time taken per run will vary, but the XP and GP gain per run will remain the same. 3.5 minutes is my personal time using a Dragon Pickaxe, Lava Titan, and Level 90 Mining. Higher levels may be faster and lower levels may be slower. If you want to know roughly how much you can potentially make, time yourself for a few runs to find how long it takes. Then find how many runs you can do per hour. If your average trip takes 6 minutes, then you only do about 10 trips an hour, which comes out to about 20k XP and 500k GP an hour. CONCLUSION Hopefully, this may give you a new option for your mining training. You may take advantage of its decent XP rates and good GP gains.

Well, the options aren't really that vast... A: The Abyss B: Grahhking Nature Runes C: ZMI D: O_o Great Orb Project\ EDIT: I like that smoke idea...sounds interesting....it's been ages since i tried rcing

lack of production can also be a factor...

Personally, I find it rewarding to unlock parts of the game and have access to all the items out there. So regardless of its benefits, I think getting full void is a great idea. In fact, I think getting every piece of void armour is a great idea.

I don't know of them off-hand, but each of the large Star and Penguin groups have threads on the RuneScape.com forums. EDIT: W60_penguins - Quick find code: 75-76-208-60714961 Stars4fun - Quick find code: 75-76-216-60568229

Stun: 100k xp/hr 2.4 gp/xp CURRENT PRICE OF SOUL: 223 also, SC items give 33300xp each. If you can manage to get 3 or more clay items an hour, you can cut your cost in half and save time. Non-combat games can get you 3-5 clay items an hour easily...the equivlent of getting 99900-166500xp for half your train. If you can average 22 points a game, you're looking at about 75 hours of SC and 55 hours of Stun Casting (130 hours). Otherwise...it's a 110 solid hours of Stun Casting. This is actually what I'm working on now...90-99 using sc+stun....I'd rather save 10mil gp and cut out half of my casting time.

I'm a huge fan of the Superheat+Mine. I'm going to assume that you have a dispensable amount of gp that you can afford to spend on natures by looking at your summon lvl and post history... It's not too difficult. You can actually superheat an item, click the rock, ect...all without losing time. Overall, you still maintain the 50k xp for gold, plus you get about 40-60k smithing and magic xp at the same time (assuming you have gold smith gauntlets of course). Give me a shout if you got questions.
