  1. No :( Right now I'm following the progression outlined in this video: Even though I can do a lot of pseudo planche pushups now (the first progression), I still can't do a single wall planche pushup (the second progression). So I'm just doing weighted pseudos now to train for the wall planche pushups. Then I'll use weights for those too until I can do straddle planche pushups (the third progression). After straddle planche pushups finally comes the full planche pushups, which is my long-term goal. Not sure how long it'll take to get there... I'm shooting for a few months.
  2. I haven't been making much progress towards my planche goal, sadly. I think this is because despite doing the "grease the groove" method for planches like I did for the one-arm chinup, I'm only increasing my reps w/o increasing the weight. In other words, my endurance is going up, but not necessarily my strength. Going to start doing pseudo planche pushups w/ 20 lbs in my backpack and then add more weight every time I do 5 pushups with that weight. That's basically how I developed the chinup strength so quickly, so theoretically it should be the best way to train my planches too. Did 3 pseudo planche pushups w/ 20 lbs just now. Next goal: 5 pushups w/ 20 lbs :D
  3. Sold all mage and melee armor except for veracs and akrisae, since they're identical to all other barrows/GWD gear... Except they have a massive prayer bonus :)
  4. Yeah, some guys define the friendzone simply as a girl not being interested in a relationship or sex with you, and leave it at that. I define it as a girl not being interested in a relationship/sex with you, while you want to have a relationship/sex with her... In other words, unrequited feelings. In your case, it's just a platonic friendship since there's no feelings on either side. Even though you're technically "just her friend." It's a misleading term... that's probably why nobody in the PUA community uses it. They just call guys "orbiters" if they're trying to get with an uninterested girl. But I don't really like using PUA lingo. It's nerdy >_> And I think most guys in this thread value relationships and female companionship over sex. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I think they're both equally important. But we've already discussed that here :P
  5. What if you want women to generally "friendzone" you? I have plenty of female friends who are quite attractive but I genuinely wouldn't want anything more than what we have, and I'm pretty sure they feel the same way. That doesn't stop me flirting with other women, though, and my communication skills are developed enough to know when other women don't want me to "friendzone" them. If you don't want to have sex and/or a relationship with them, then you're not friendzoned.
  6. They don't prefer one type of man over the other-- they want (and need) both.
  7. Your anxiety's stemming from wanting to get something from her, rather than give something to her. And you're afraid of the implications of not getting anything from her. You can't get anxiety for wanting to give to people. While I'm not going to jump to conclusions and state that you're friendzoned, I will however state that you're acting like a guy who women generally friendzone, rather than a guy who women generally fantasize about. Think about it-- does a guy who has girls lining up to be with him spend 3-4 hours talking every day to just one girl that he hasn't even done anything with? No. If you're going to insist on doing stuff like that, do it after you two are getting romantic. You're just giving her free attention right now with nothing in return. Which is fine if you're not interested in her, but I don't think that's the case. The more you talk to her without "making any moves," the deeper you cement yourself into the friendzone. In other news, my dad emailed me this. Food for thought: [hide=Capacity for Intimacy] David Brooks: Studies show that the heart of men grows smarter By David Brooks Syndicated columnist Posted: 11/06/2012 01:48:03 PM PST If you go back and read a bunch of biographies of people born 100 to 150 years ago, you notice a few things that were more common then than now. First, many more families suffered the loss of a child, which had a devastating and historically underappreciated impact on their overall worldviews. Second, and maybe related, many more children grew up in cold and emotionally distant homes, where fathers, in particular, barely knew their children and found it impossible to express their love for them. It wasn't only parents who were emotionally diffident; it was the people who studied them. In 1938, a group of researchers began an intensive study of 268 students at Harvard University. The plan was to track them through their entire lives, measuring, testing and interviewing them every few years to see how lives develop. In the 1930s and 1940s, the researchers didn't pay much attention to the men's relationships. Instead, following the intellectual fashions of the day, they paid a lot of attention to the men's physiognomy. Did they have a "masculine" body type? Did they show signs of vigorous genetic endowments? But as this study -- the Grant Study -- progressed, the power of relationships became clear. The men who grew up in homes with warm parents were much more likely to become first lieutenants and majors in World War II. The men who grew up in cold, barren homes were much more likely to finish the war as privates. Body type was useless as a predictor of how the men would fare in life. So was birth order or political affiliation. Even social class had a limited effect. But having a warm childhood was powerful. As George Vaillant, the study director, sums it up in "Triumphs of Experience," his most recent summary of the research, "It was the capacity for intimate relationships that predicted flourishing in all aspects of these men's lives." Of the 31 men in the study incapable of establishing intimate bonds, only four are still alive. Of those who were better at forming relationships, more than a third are living. It's not that the men who flourished had perfect childhoods. Rather, as Vaillant puts it, "What goes right is more important than what goes wrong." In case after case, the magic formula is capacity for intimacy combined with persistence, discipline, order and dependability. The men who could be affectionate about people and organized about things had very enjoyable lives. But a childhood does not totally determine a life. The beauty of the Grant Study is that, as Vaillant emphasizes, it has followed its subjects for nine decades. The big finding is that you can teach an old dog new tricks. The men kept changing all the way through, even in their 80s and 90s. The men of the Grant Study frequently became more emotionally attuned as they aged, more adept at recognizing and expressing emotion. Part of the explanation is biological. People, especially men, become more aware of their emotions as they get older. Part of this is probably historical. Over the past half-century or so, American culture has become more attuned to the power of relationships. The so-called Flynn Effect describes the rise in measured IQ scores over the decades. Perhaps we could invent something called the Grant Effect, on the improvement of mass emotional intelligence over the decades. This gradual change might be one of the greatest contributors to progress and well-being that we've experienced in our lifetimes. [/hide]
  8. Four years ago, America went black. Now the question is: Will it go back??
  9. He made it pretty clear that he hates being in the number 1 spot, so it wouldn't surprise me if he let it run out.
  10. Good to hear, Noxx. That's basically the "best" attitude to have when you go out. You may find this video interesting-- I watched some of this guy's videos around this time last year and it was a huge game-changer for me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8k9zCD4CnjE
  11. Would make more sense if they just remove the adrenaline system altogether and rebalance all of the equipment and possibly special attacks. All they really needed to do was give LP boosts to non-Nex gear and possibly keep the monster-weakness system to make certain weapons useful.
  12. Saw Wreck-It Ralph tonight with a friend. I enjoyed it :D Lots of great video game cameos and subtle references throughout the whole movie
  13. Well in this case, do you think that there will really be much of a difference depending on who's elected?
  14. This brings up the question: If you're voting for either Obama or Romney simply because you consider both of them to be "evil," but the one you're voting for is the lesser of two evils... then does it make more sense to vote for a candidate who isn't "evil" in the first place and therefore quit supporting the ridiculous two-party winner-take-all system?
  15. Not sure if karma is trolling, or just doesn't understand how goal-setting works >_>
  16. Getting a job that forces you to talk to strangers (especially hot girls) will also massively speed up the healing process. In my case, I was a cashier on campus.
  17. Lol, the same thing happened to me too basically. :D I posted about it in-depth a couple of years ago: http://forum.tip.it/...60#entry4334031
  18. Did they nerf the really fast drop-x and clean-x?
  19. Defeats the reason to venture into teams and learn, because of the effort involved. Even if the effort was justified by the returns, we have two years of proof that the general population does not want to face that effort. Without the team aspect, 5:5ing will die out over time, essentially lowering the exp floor to whatever the solo rates are on average with teams due to a lack of learning. Lower exp rates across the board over time become a larger deterrent for the skill than any learning or community issues will ever do. Overall there is more harm to the skill than good here. It's completely different from a normal rework when looking at, say, Runecrafting. That had more positives than negatives and was overall healthy for the skill. I agree that most of the RS population does not wish to put in the effort into learning "elite" 5:5s. However, if what you're saying is true-- that as a result of that disinterest, elite 5:5s will die out-- then elite 5:5s would already be dead by now. Which is why I don't see this update as a threat to elite 5:5s. Not to mention the fact that the efficiency junkies are becoming more and more common these days, and that demographic alone will keep elite 5:5s from dying.
  20. You're talking about Runescape here. If you don't enjoy grinding and solo skilling you would have quit this game the moment one of your skills reached level 30. There's a big difference between "enjoying" grinding and merely tolerating it. I think most players belong to the latter category. It's called "grinding" for a reason, after all :P
  21. What are the implications of widening the social gap in a nutshell?
  22. The way I see it is, you've got 3 primary options for DG: 1. Solo w/ abysmal XP rates 2. Use a Jagex-themed world for better XP rates, but with strangers who most likely suck 3. Join a clan or DG with friends for best XP After the update, your options will be: 1. Solo for good XP rates 2. Join a clan or DG with friends for better XP I don't see why this update can upset anyone. Last time I checked, most people hated using the Jagex worlds.
  23. I think you're underestimating the social aspect of the skill. Even if you're getting 350k xp/hr solo, it's going to be very easy to get burnt out solo'ing. It will feel more like grinding. In other words, without a team to keep you company and interact with, DG becomes a lot less fun. Teams will still exist because a) they're better xp/hr and b) they're more fun.
  24. 1. If range 2hs are the "best" pure in your demographic, then get your range level up. If you can't beat em, join em. 2. Turn your public chat off when you go PK'ing so you don't get distracted by the trash-talking. 3. You're a f2p pker with 9m cash. ALWAYS risk death to go for the kill. It's not like you're losing millions of GP if you die-- you're just losing a rune scimmy and 2h 4. I'm assuming you're 1 def? Those pures became obsolete when everybody jumped on the bandwagon because they thought they were awesome. Rune pures were the "best" last time I checked. 5. Consider gravite equipment?
