Yeah things have changed now that 200ms are so feasible. And not that I agree with Jagex's decision, but I think this may be one reason why they are making the boards members only. You can not get a front page rank anymore. Magic has 5 spots left, Smithing has 1, Mining has 3, Agility has 3. Slayer, RC, Farming, and Summoning are really the only skills you can compete in anymore. And farming you can't really because it is based in actual time and not just play time. Hell summoing and RC and the only ones left where you don't need over 100m. When any highscore boards is structured like this (with an absolute maximum) it has the inevitable consequence of stagnation. I think jagex is trying to combat this stagnation.

Speaking as a member of said majority, my problem with it is that any and all achievements I've made, or will ever make, in-game will be wiped from the official rankings like Kaida23 had never existed. Nobody should be made to feel that expendable. As I said, although this is my own personal opinion, if I was to stop caring about the game enough to quit and cancel my membership, it really wouldn't bother me if I was removed from the hiscores as I only care about them when I am actually playing the game. I can understand where you are coming from, though. I think Athymy makes a good point here. He really speaks to what is healthy motivation for playing, regardless of Jagex's most recent highscore update. If you are playing for ranks than it had better be because you want those ranks for you and you only. Playing so that others will somehow appreciate you more because of your ranks is the wrong reasons to be playing. Don't play for someone else's enjoyment; only play for your own. If you played for someone else's enjoyment you will see everything you did as a "waste of time." If you played for your self you will just see it as an enjoying time. That said I think that this update is total bullshit. Also Athymy do you have any plans to make a bid for the top 15? I see you are powering through magic now and you have a lot of fast xp still open. It would be nice to have another fellow poster in the top 15.

sleeping hasn't gained any xp since he got 200m fletching afaik dunno his plans Congratulations to him on 14 200m skills! That is crazy. I hope he throws down on some buyables. He can't just let Suomi run away with rank one. I would like to see some competition between them for 4b xp. Tezz has more faster xp left, but Suomi has a good lead. This would also be a nice competition for first to 18 or so 200m skills.

I just noticed that Water has the weekly and monthly record for crafting. A pretty impressive feat for F2P. To my knowledge he only used emeralds to get those records. Quite a bit of dedication to pull that off. Prayer record F2P next? lol.

With the double loot weekend depending on how fast you can kill the zammy boss in god wars he may be faster effigies than crawlers.

You can get like 100k-120k farming xp/hr (not counting actual runs) by using grand seed pods. I got to 50 farming on my account back in the day with out ever having done any actual farming in about an two hours, but that was because I was making up the training method as you go along. Instead of logging out to the lobby right after you use each seed. I use the dueling arena (I am sure there is a better location for this, so ill leave that to someone else.) But since you cant use the pods inside the fence if right after you tele to the arena run out side the little opening. Stay near adjacent one of the perpendicular gates. Open the pod and run back inside the gate and then back out and open another one. The gnome should have appeared by now and will be chasing you down. To stop him form getting to you, you must do one of two things. If he comes from the north run south to the sqaure just after the south gate, but inside the fence. If he appears to the north do the opposite. This will make the gnome get stuck behind the gate so you can step one square out and open another two pods. If you get the rhythm right you will have a line of gnomes stacked up behind each gate. They will disappear after a while one at a time. When I did this seed pods were around 2k each so this was about 1m gp/hr so it wasn't cheap, but certainly do able. **Warning** I have no idea if this is considered bug abusing, so do it at your own risk. If someone could find a better place for this technique you may be able to get faster rates. The only reason I used the arena was it was the only place I could think of with two gates a 90 degree angles like that and there the gnome wouldn't appear behind you. Also it is help to do it there because if you mess up and he catches you, I had an inventory full of dueling rings to bring me right back quickly.

Water has been kicking ass in F2P. 3.3m prayer this week, with almost 1m today. Quite impressive for F2P. I am curious to know how many big bones Water has saved up. Also it appears that Suomi has taken a break from crafting, and gone back to crawlers. Probably because his refer-a-friend didn't work, so I am guessing he doesn't want to bust in to his D-stones. It seems that he has actually had quite a lucky today for effigies (knock on wood) getting 950k RC xp for only 850k Defense xp. Which means he was getting around 90k RC xp/hr =P Jake edges ever closer to 200m fletching and his 14th 200m skill. I am interested to see if he decides to max out firemaking after since he had the brief stint smithing. Roger Al is killing it with slayer and just passed Enrix for rank 6 and it seems he will have that on lock. I am curious to see what he does next because he has some impressive skills, so depending on his cash pile and goals he could enter the top 15 in the future. Elvis is doing a bit of everything, but still getting some pretty good xp. Dapledo is slowly working his way to 100m mining, only a few million xp left.

Nah I didn't think of that. It seems that running sqirks are around 4.5m/hr so this would be faster than running bones. However you would have had to gain around 2m farming xp from picking the fruits, so you would not get as many points at vinesweeper. Despite that the sqirks are fast enough that they are worth it over bones. This means that you could get around 23m total xp more than what I projected with bones. EDIT: Also @Jebrim you should do the agility party of my record day on Jebrim III. Considering you are starting out fresh, go their from level 40 until you have enough tickets to max =P "Brimhaven Agility Tickets: No max At an average of 15xp per obstacle and an average of 5 obstacles per ticket Assuming you started at lvl 40 agility. You would need 468,000 @ 1k tickets, 300 @ 100 tickets, 25 @ 25 tickets, 10 @ 10 tickets. In total you need to collect 468,335 tickets Spend Agility Tickets: 164,838,278 xp Spend the 468,335 tickets in the highest increments possible to get the most xp. Make sure to use Karamaja Gloves 4 for the bonus xp."

[spoiler=How to have a record day] So you wanna have a record day? The Set up: 1) Soul Wars: 50k max zeal Only use range and mage while playing the game getting all of the zeal. Do not get more than 150m Attack xp or HP xp. If you are getting close to going over switch to ranged or mage. Stay at 13m strength and defense. 2) Pest Control: 500 max zeal Again don't let your self get over 150m attack or HP while getting these points 3) Penguin Points: 50 max points Just save these for the record day like PC and SW zeal. 4) Dungeoneering: Get exactly 142,927,273 dungeon xp. This will result in 14,292,727 Tokens. 5) Construction: Spend about 6b+ on zombie impling jars and open all of them to collect tons of long and curved bones. Enough for 21hours of running them to Barlak. 6) Effigies: 500 max (Assuming you need at minimum 16 bank slots) Cannon cave crawlers for these to avoid too much cmb xp. Again do not get over 150m attack or HP xp. 7) Vine Sweeper: No max points Get exactly 40 farming and then save up 199,962,776 points 8) Brimhaven Agility Tickets: No max At an average of 15xp per obstacle and an average of 5 obstacles per ticket Assuming you started at lvl 40 agility. You would need 468,000 @ 1k tickets, 300 @ 100 tickets, 25 @ 25 tickets, 10 @ 10 tickets. In total you need to collect 468,335 tickets 9) Slayer points: 64,011 max points Slay until you have 64k points, Do not go over 150m attack, or get any strength/defense xp. Use mage/range to slayer if needed. The Record Day: 1) Spend Soul Wars zeal: 462m xp Spend 20k points on Strength, Spend 20k points on Defense, Spend 5k points on Attack, and spend 5k points on HP 2) Spend Pest Control zeal: 280k xp Spend all 500 points on Attack. 3) Spend Penguin Points: 123,750 xp Spend on any non-cmb skill except farm, dungeon, or agility. 4) Spend Dungeoneering Tokens: 14,292,727 xp You will have 14,292,727 Tokens. Spend them all on xp. 5) Spend Vine Sweeper points: 199,962,776 xp Spend them all on farming xp. 6) Spend Agility Tickets: 164,838,278 xp Spend the 468,335 tickets in the highest increments possible to get the most xp. Make sure to use Karamaja Gloves 4 for the bonus xp. 7) Effigies: 87,780,000 xp Use all 500 of the effigies. Don't investigate the farming or the agility options. Use all of the lamps on Dungeoneering. 8) Spend Slayer points: 1.6m xp Spend all 64k points, 400 at a time for 10k slayer xp each time. Assuming this takes you about 2 hours to open all of the effigies, spend all of the points/tokens/tickets, and you need at least an hour to use the bathroom/eat. That leaves 21 hours to run the curved and long bones. 9) Construction: 69,300,000 xp Run as many bones as you can during this 21 hours, you should be getting around 3.3m xp/hr. So in total your record day would result in a staggering 1,000,177,531 xp O.o I just did these calculations for the fun of it. I realize that no one will ever do this nor ever come close. It would take probably around 2 years of play time just to set up such a day. aren't demonic thrones better xp? Yeah Demonic Thrones would be the best option for the ~15 hours it would take to get 200m from 99, but this would cost 185b gp, so I decided to leave that out. And for the remaining time, or a next best option, would be doing talon beast pouches. Those are around 3.7m xp/hr, faster than running bones to barlak. I also leave this out because it is probably impossible to get all of those nail beast nails with out going over 150m atk/hp. I also ignore any refer-a-friend/bonus xp type of things. In which case you could certainly get more xp than this. But the whole point of this was to show that it is possible to get 1B xp in a day. Also a side note about soul wars. I got the "50k being max zeal" from the wiki and we all know how reliable the wiki is, so I have no idea if that is true. If the cap is less than that you would have to do demonic thrones in order to get 1b xp in a day.

What is absolute fastest melee training you can do? If you don't care about effigies or drops. You just want the purely fastest melee xp/hr? Is it still AZs @ 110k/hr?

Good job Jagex  Now if they adress the reasons people chose to bot in the first place maybe runescape will last another 10 years. This is exactly the suggestion I don't like. People will target the grind and Jagex will do all they can to minimize it. This may include substantially increasing Xp rates. I WANT grind; that's what RS is about. I'm hopeful that when "targeting grind" Jagex won't just fall back on the easy option of making things faster. Jagex have said in the past that they love the fact that different skills are different speeds, that there are fast skills and slow skills, hard skills and easy skills (they said this when defending the Ivy/Sawmill training update, where they made woodcutting very easy, but they WANT woodcutting to be very easy, and I don't think they want RC or agility to be that easy.) I would hope that this philosophy remains when "targeting grind" and instead of speeding things up they make more updates like herblore habitat hunting, or Jadinko firemaking, where they provide an alternative training method, not massively different in exp rate (I know HH hunting is best in game but hunter was always a fast non-buyable, along with Thieving, always was meant to be so) but the new methods just provide a different feel to the motions of training the skill, or don't involve so much money or boring endless purchases and sales on the GE, or otherwise shaking up the way we train, and giving us more options to play how we prefer, whether it be for lesser exp or for equal exp. "Targeting grind" in that way is something I wouldn't mind at all. It isn't the xp rate that matters. What matters is that the click intensive method of full concentration always always always needs to be faster than the afk/minimal concentration method. Jagex tried to solve this problem with Make-X slowly being introduced to many skills. The problem with that is that Make-X is not optional, so this strategy is not viable because there is no click intensive method. Runescape is a grind. That is always what it has been about. What it needs is an option for the people who want to level up quickly and get to "end game" content, which would not be making the xp-rates faster. This does not address the feeling of a grind. All is does is speed up the grind and piss off the players who play for the grind. What the game needs is a way to break up the pre-99 levels through many different training techniques. Ie. a new method being the optimal one every 2-3 levels. This breaks up the monotony of a method being the best for 70-99 and such. However, through out, there always need to be an option to make the player grind (click intensive). This option has to be a faster xp rate to appeal to the players that play for records and ranks. ie. more effort = more reward.

You'd be better off bringing knives/chins since you can hit faster with them. No because you would have to not be wielding your CLS/Rapier. If you just have air runes in your inventory you could spend out a spell to grab a far away crawler drawing it close and in range of the cannon and on the next attack turn go back to gaining melee xp and more dps. Chins/ barrage may be faster kills/hr than melee, but this should only be used if your goal is effigies and that is it. If you are trying to get 200m skills you should get melee xp. Ie. suomi's case.

Would bringing combat spell runes to cave crawlers speed up the kill rate at all? Like to grab the ones that the titan doesn't get to in order to get them in the range of the cannon? Obviously the spell wouldn't be for dealing damage so you would just use the cheapest spell (wind rush) unless certain spells have further range than others, in which case a different optimal spell would be used. So does the titan do enough work or do you think this would make a significant increase in kills/hr?

That's not efficiency, that's skill. Efficiency only determines which method is most suited, though you could of course take into account that you burn yew logs faster (which would surprise me as magic is exactly the same). Post above me said there is no skill in rs. Disregarding him I would agree but my point was more that if you missed ticks with magics vs perfect with yews (2 different players) I would consider the one who burned yews without missing ticks a more efficient player than the one who used magics because the one who used magics essentially wasted money and time even if they got 200m at the same pace. Naturally the person getting equal/slower xp with magics is being comparatively very slow, but considering that they'd burn yews at the same rate and that other person would burn magics at their rate, the person burning mage logs is still more efficient. That has nothing to do with what you consider 'pro', efficiency is defined. Wow I finally understand why there is so much controversy over the whole efficiency debate... People are [bleep]ing stupid and have absolutely no clue what the word efficiency means. Thank you DESUPTY_NUMBER1 you have enlightened me to the thought process of you and the like.

Overloads are P2P I think he mean to train this in P2P because he said . Yeah I intended that method to be used with frost bones for it to be faster than the 1m/hr you can get at an alter. The idea of Water burying a ridiculous amount of big bones gave me the idea for this trick. Would love for someone to test it. Basically do what Ari does in this except with frost bones (or even regular bones just to test the idea cheaply) and overloads in every other position going down up down up. This may result in 1/2 tick burying making it the optimal method for prayer.

Water got 200m cooking and his 5th 200m today. After he got about 200k firemaking xp and then some prayer xp. I am hoping he goes for 200m prayer because that would be quite the achievement in f2p. Although maybe not for the poor man's sanity. Also new training idea. i'll state this first off that I doubt it will work at all, but maybe. So the idea is basically burying bones like you can clean herbs. However obviously there is no animation for cleaning herbs and that is why you can go so fast. Herein lies the method. using overloads to cancel the animation similar to fishing and other skills. If you placed an overload potion every other spot going down up down up in each column of the inventory you may be able cancel the animation of burying bones thus burying many per hours. If this works and you can bury more than 5.6k an hour this would be faster xp than using the house alter. Again I doubt this is possible, but it was just a though and would be pretty easy to test.

You calculator is broken in several ways, especially for drumgun. First off since he has 200m cmbs but not slayer you still have him gaining melee xp from slayer thus giving him negative hours which makes no sense. Then you have the effigies form slayer as nagative which adds hours to his investigation skills. Your 50k/h slayer xp and 2.4 melee xp are extremely arbitrary. Also I am assuming that 50k/h is because you have people actually slaying for slayer xp which is certainly not optimal.

Drumgun is slowly creeping up on 180m wcing and will soon have 10 200m all lined up in a row. It looks like Tezz isn't too focused on 200m fletching. He did some teaks with adze while making bolts it seems. This is a quite efficient method for him to max his next two closes skills to 200m (Fming and fletch.) But then he went on to gain about 1m smithing xp. It also seems that he is harvesting herb base on his frequent, but low gains in farming. This is also a good strategy for him to make some extra cash and get his farming up. After powering to 100m, smith, fletch, wcing, crafting, and herblore, he seems to have stalled on mining. He has had rather meager gains compared to some of this other skill. But when he does get 100m mining he will have 10 100ms in a row. Suomi should have 200m herb in the next few days and we will get to see what he moves on to. Hopefully maxing slayer because Roger Al has been powering through slayer and is catching up, though still quite far back from taking suomi's rank 5. Elvis is crawlering and is actually being the most efficient player right now. He broke 100m strength a few days ago and his RC is climbing fast with all of the effigy xp. Water is powering through cooking, passing 150m yesterday and will soon have his 5th 200m in F2P, quite the feat if you ask me. I am curious to see what he moves on to next, does he have another buyable planned, maybe fming? Or maybe another combat. /mini update

Crawlers. Surely slayer before crawlers? And he said he might do craft before crawlers just to get 4bil quickly Maxing craft and blocking an effigy combo before maxing combat at crawlers, oh the horror of the xp waste. Also if he has the cash why slay before crawlers? Just max slayer there with effigies and then move on to RC.

Congratulations to Dark Lust for breaking the 400m month mark. Also does anyone else think that Suomi might beat tezz to 200m prayer? He is running out of time, but he has caught up immensely. He is down about 18m from Tezz, but Tezz only needs 31.5m more xp, so I doubt suomi will be able to outpace Tezz 2:1, but it will come down to only a few million xp.

11806 hours left, so obviously Gemeos2 owns Jebrim, especially when he reaches 200M cook and maybe even The Milestone Cape (80) How much is an account with all level 1's Thai's calc doesn't work that well for skills under 99 because it assumes you are using the maxed methods, though it can be used to guesstimate. EDIT: Dark Lust has just today left to get another +12m in order to break the 400m month. And it looks like suomi has two more days based on his monthly gains
