  1. GRX

ColAvanor replied to teenageloser33's topic in Art and Media
It actually doesn't really fit the color scheme.. blue - grey vs cyan. The grX text could use another font.
  2. I played around a little with my sig. Spiffed up the car just a bit and added lines to the road. Tried a new approach to the text. It's a bit low quality now, but I think I can redo it better should you like it. Anyway.
  3. I'm not completely sure, if you agree with me or not, but just incase the latter. I didn't say that ripping images is cool, or that the one buying ripped images should be punished (though the law says so on stolen property). I said selling traced images is cool and if they go for as high as 500k, it's the buyers fault. Money talks, ya know.
  4. We weren't talking about copying lineart were we? The case was tracing a photo, if I'm correct. It's practically the same thing as if he would take a picture of himself lying on the ground and then tracing it (Since the tracing progress effectively eliminates anything worth "copyrighting" in the image). Would you concider that cheating? I wouldn't. I think the aim is to produce the most eye pleasing result, no matter how "difficult" it is to achieve. What is the value of a thing being "pixel" anyway...everything is pixel. If it looks like crap, I don't give a damn on how it's made. More often than not people could generate better looking images by brushing in PS than trying to pixel. I see no point in worshipping a picture just because it must have taken ages to make. (and yes..there are pixel images that take advantage on the medium they are using or have a catchy style) Though a traced image isn't a true "pixel" sig, it can surely kick some pixelaced wagon. Should you have a problem with it, blame the one buying it, not the one creating it.
  5. I wouldn't concider tracing to be in violation of copyright. I wouldn't call it ripping. I would call it a way to substitute for drawing skills.
  6. Seen about two of those animations...not a great fan. How did you make them to get those pixel edges to begin wtih? For me they are a joykiller.
  7. Well, I wasn't just going to blur the image around and slap some lines on it? Was I? I put together about six images, added a road and put your car ready to rock the open highway (erm...desolated country road). Took about 2,5 hours to mangle, skew, distort and force those images (all taken from wrong angles) into one piece, but I think you can't really spot the different parts that well. It's nothing that special, though I fancy it personally. If you don't like the text, I hope you like the rest. Since the typography is the easy part to fix. 2 color versions. *feels dissapointed after seeing his work again* Oh yeh...I didn't blur anything, cause I find that a trivial solution... I distorted the perspective! Hope ya like.
  8. That moustache is off. I'd say. The final result isn't looking that much like Stalin mostly due to the lower part of the face. (We at Finland know pretty well who that VERY evil man was...Sure showed him at fenno-russian war).
  9. Well, 200k won't get it this time. Addition to personal collection. Hmmm..begins with a "W"..white partyhat?? (joking  ). Anymore comments? :(
  10. here's an unused pretty sig!
  11. Don't diss Entangle when he is right. There is nothing but a single filter used...sure the bottom one has two.
  12. ah, my display is so super bright... the sig is actually pretty bright for me. Checked it out with school's CRT and all I saw was black. (almost). Redoing the fishes and working again with the light as I get home tomorrow. Thanks a lot for compliments and comments. Azvy, I'll pay as I get the full colour version. Or will it cost extra? Going to give the lord another try in this weekend also. About bigger sizes.. all my sigs are done at about 4 times the resolution seen. Major pain shrinking them  . I still think that my skills won't cut it at, say, wallpaper size.
  13. It's trying to be melancholic (sp..) and thus the darkness. It's never particulary fun to sink to the bottom, I'd say. Yeh, it lacks a little content. Have a suggestion, what should I be adding? I tried adding the seahorse to the name and frankly pretty much everywhere, but I pained me to much to shrink the huge detailed one into 10 * 20 pixels... I think I'll just save it for a future project.
  14. I haven't made sigs in ages. Got an inspiration and brushed a pretty nice 200*500 seahorse. Started designing a signature around it, but I went further and further away from a fitting scene. The result is a tad empty and does not include the original seahorse at all (aha! there might be yet another sig coming...). It's a bit different, and a bit pointless... The fishes on the left (they are fishes...not bubless) were on the right at first and functioned there better, but the texts didn't seem too good while on the same side. Had to swap the suckas. The object on the left is a treasure chest (arrrr...pirate booty). Give me a comment, I like to think of it as a WIP. I'll surely take any CC into concideration. Thanks all! Oh yeh, It's brushed in PS. A few hours. Especially pleased with the ocean floor (those wavy things took some time...). PS it is for sale
  15. You are making the undisputedly best signatures on tip. . That one for Nad is my favourite signature of all times. Thank you!
  16. Hmm, my my. I must have played my cards well around here. (tyVM keiph and venomai). I haven't done anything half decent apart from the underwaters but I always get remembered by those. For a noob who hasn't done any other GFX than the sigs to this forum those compliments are really encouraging. Oh yeh, to make my list of 11 strech to the official limit of 13, I'll add Forsaken (a lil bright, but stylish) and Vlad (great design).
  17. The first few lists were based on what? The current first page of the media board....sheesh. If you really want to find out who people think have had an impact on these boards, I think you can still find some old threads concerning the issue...with some more real names on them. I don't really know Witty's work and have never seen Theakman2 or DromarUK so Nad's list of 13, is a list of 10 to me. Though I would add in RoyalFlush. Some great persons with nice touch. Artistic in a way I could never be.
  18. You should concider neatening the lines up and perhaps adding some detail to the simple grass and stone. I think that the victim's left hand looks unnaturally placed..just feels akward. The shading is partially inconcistent (sp...), just look at the black boots...the other one is twisted... A bit simple but ok pixel sig.
  19. Since there is little room for actual artistic input in the coloring of the particular picture (as mentioned before), I critisize you for missing the spots, where you could have made a diffenrence. The colors selected are subtle and pass together well, but I have a hard time getting why her eyes are completely blue? You could have made the little details around the neck/chest area in different colors. Now the gap in the dress is, well, the exact same colour as the dress. (as are the dots and other things..). As a wild guess I would say that the coloring is mainly trough "color" layers? Though noticably, you have made the blade wider and frankly, made it look like plastic. It's matte, not shiny and there is a deeep shadow up right (compared to shadowing in the picture overall). I think the color choices are well planned and work in harmony but the blade ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ is ruined.
  20. Is that supposed to be drug-related? I that case, it's against forum rules... :?
  21. The torches a lot better now, good job. Redo the shadow...now it's a black stroke around the corpse? I'd suggest making the dragon scales a little less uniform, they are making the guy look real flat. Nice job!
  22. Ok, get rid of the lens flare. The planet is quite ok, but your starfield is currently a noise filter. Use brightness/contrast to make it look more like stars and then erase/clone them around to create a more realistic starscape.
  23. That's wicked! Great job [bleep]. Can't really give any crits. PS I don't know what OC is, but it's due to start airing here in some time.
  24. You are a sad person. First you think to yourself "those pixel sigs gotta be easy to make". Then you work probably over an hour to produce that pile of crap. Finally you spend EVERY defence you know to protect your ego. The good old "I was bored", the "only 5 mins" and the grand finale "it sucks". omg, those really adjutate me.
