"The next Runescape update will be in approximately 30 minutes."
I've only actually seen it once for beta updates and I been on most of the day (at least lobbying). They are using 'warm fix' for all the beta stuff where possibly (warm fix meaning it doesn't need a server restart much like a hot fix, but it does not take effect until you reload the game much like a cold fix) and almost none of the beta fixes have any impact on the java client thus not needing java game to even know it's happening.

03-Apr-2013 - Dungeoneering Dual Wielding and Charming Imp
It has to do with the skeleton of the character. The right arm has more joints than the left arm, and the whip animation needs them. This plus the fighting stance. How it is setup the front (off-hand) arm can't really swing/flick a whip in a quick practical way without a move that would very obviously lash your round the face and/or tangle it with the whip in the rear hand. It'd be impractical to create a unique stance just for whips off-hands as it'd be really complicated to make it work with all the slight variants of main-hand posing plus whilst the animations vary the basics rely on the attack/defend being roughly in same place to look like they marry up. Plus it'd be wasted labour and rendering power to add more skeletal structure to the front arm just for the sake of 1 weapon..

Then don't run south? I don't think he meant literally south where you can run in any other direction and be home free. They circle the camp and pick specific chock points where they can get the so called lucky. So the corp cave, around where the sword of edicts is located, around the Daemonheim entrance to name a few. But eventually you have to head south to get out. Not true. Run to Ghorrock head through to ritual site take the boat around to fremmy area then make your way down.

There is a specific sticky on the beta forum for users with powerful CPUs getting 5 FPS and under for Jagex to setup in house builds with same GPUs to test why they don't like it.

Tbf all the crash fixes are quite probably helping FPS behind the scenes. Afterall something working wrongly enough to cause a crash, even when not actually spewing out a crash is likely to run slow, hog memory etc. Plus it does all kinda come down to how easy an issue it is to solve and ironing out crashes will help get more data on fps issues since more people can play for more time to help see what exactly is eating the fps and whether it is an ongoing issue or an initial load issue

I think drop piles have changed, items now don't drop dead in the middle of a square, but sort of scattered about. I haven't seen items not dropping in the same square yet. It really has nothing to do with the grid system, that's not going anywhere any time soon. The randomness is nice, but they did state in a dev blog a while back it was possible to minimize the grid by 10x. Exactly even if they did minimize the grid it's not going anywhere. Pretty much all games have a grid it's kinda impossible not too - the trick is just shrinking the grid to such an extent that it gives the illusion of free movement. Afterall If our players occupy a 1x1 grid space its clear we are on a grid. At 10x10 there'd be signs we are stuck to a grid but it'd be more fluid. At 100x100 it'd be basically imperceptible that we are attached to a grid. Also what they say they CAN do and what they WILL do anytime soon are two very different things.

They do seem to be trying to stack, it's just not working very well. Places like banks etc where people are largely stationary it stacks up after a while, moving places its not keeping pace. Stacking/placement seems to be an issue in general as seen in item drop piles where they are all a bit messed up and skewed (especially notable in areas where drops get 'caught' in the air because they clip into surroundings or in dg where they hang off tables) and as already mentioned in patchnotes where players were appearing offset from their true location.

Seems interesting. I may give this a shot. Future reference whenever you put a QFC from the rs forums put it in qfc tags. There's a button on the post with a "R" symbol, that way people can directly link to the forum rather than having to enter the qfc manually. I edited it to have qfc tag in my quote. Wouldn't let me as I tried to edit it. Also another suggestion I'm pi9loting with very good results (still a bit of lag and shitty camera) [qfc]334-335-816-64910685[/qfc] Edit: currently getting 20-25 FPS with this suggestion. Whilst both ideas are good in getting the game to run faster I think they are bad ideas to use. The beta is about seeing how it runs and Jagex using this data to make it run better; if you 'hack' around in the backend of the browser doing things standard users won't/can't do to make t pick up speed you are just giving Jagex false data on how the game runs for a normal user. If enough people partook it'd skew the whole data set and cause them to not fix very real issues as it appears to be working better than it is.

But other than the water all those colours are in-game now. The change is just to do with the new way of rendering it, though I do agree some could do with toning down a bit as they are too bright now.

Plate: 400k each as Pi said. Laquer/chi: 150k each or so, 7.5m for legs. Bones: 80k each tops, not sure since I'm saving bones for superiors now. Spices: 3k each? I heard (from clannies) vampyrism still goes for a good ~7m which would value bones at ~700k no?

Whilst your point is good you are talking some nonsense: 1) They aren't just using people with the best computer. I know plenty from the random selection with god awful systems, not to mention all the gold and silver guys aren't all on good systems. They are using people with a variety of systems to test how it works on the variety and address issues. 2) They are not trying to make it run on phones at all for now. In the QA on youtube from Tues they expressly said for now they are only focussing on the pc and are entirely ignoring tablets/phones. My bad then. I assumed that for the people they were selecting, they would aim for mostly people with medium and high end machines so that they wouldn't have half their beta testers unable to get the client working on low, if that, for the first week or so. The second point doesn't surprise me, though I am still assuming this is the ultimate goal down the line or else this doesn't make much sense (the format of the new client). Well yeah its obviously a long-term goal they even said you could try but the current interfaces aren't designed for touch input (implying of course the new ones are). I'd guess for main launch its just pc, whilst interface is designed to use touch, then bts in the following months they'll work to get it up and running on android systems etc as best as possible.

Why you can't look at the stats yourself when you click on them and figure it out is beyond me but: Tigers - Combat Bands - Morale Harem - Seafaring

I think span is one of the areas that needs a redesign for html5. Like previously mentioned the islands all look so densely packed now you can see them all it kinda loses it's sense of scale, in the sense of being this empty space dotted with floating islands. Wouldn't be too hard to do either just systematically drag all the islands outwards and redo the transport animations to allow for the expanded distance. Also no settings are carried over, just like eoc beta this has its own setting file due to be a separate applet (hence music etc. being turned right up when u first load) Being able to see so much of areas also kinda shows up the ugly as well eg Sarim, especially the jail, looks really quite ugly when you can see it all from afar where as DA Cwars, slayer tower, wiz tower etc. have all much more clearly been designed with the greater view range in-mind

I can see their point whilst it does have more to do in PvP situations it also effects other things. Eg LRC seeing gold deposits further away Larger dungeon areas seeing spawns further away DG being able to see monsters before you get there. They all would give slight advantages, hopefully though they do increase it over the next few years whilst dwindling java support since only rather cruddy machines can't deal with html5 (once its up and running properly)

NDA was repealed almost immediately. JAG I don't think there is a way to view, but you have 5 (maybe 6) questions. You have to answer 3 per check and it does give you prompts for your answer. Firstly the character count is exact to your answer (eg if its 7 characters allowed your answer had 7) and the default text in the box before you click into it shows the first letter eg 5 characters allowed default text of z**** would be shown if your answer was zelda or zonks or zones.

It feels like first time play is going to be a much more painful experience if they don't get this optimised loooaaaaaads. I think they ought to of trapped us at an initial loading screen whilst the assets for the 'start' of the game were loaded (eg burthorpe, taverly, and various basic models like trees and low-end playerkit) then once in-game it should be forced to load the rest of whats needed where you are but also have a background load going on to load in all of the assets. Granted it'd still be a bit slow like now and launch where EVERYONE gotta load it, but it ought to smooth out things longterm.

Maybe a leaky leak of something we not meant to see yet to do with regenerating something at altars and/or the altars themselves. Or could just be random word smoosh - I mean whilst standing at GE beat on various log-ins loaded burthorpe, herb habitat and yanille before crashing when it got to loading up my character.

And C++ can be compiled into a HTML5 (JavaScript) application. See BananaBread for an example (https://developer.mo...ail/bananabread). Whilst I see people's point with C++ I disagree with it being a good move. Unless I am mistaken C++ would make Runescape become an actual program (like lol or wow) opposed to a web-based applet and one of the biggest selling points RS has always had is being no major download web-based play anywhere. It wouldn't make sense to make a move that would ditch that entire legacy and selling point, it'd be like Xbox suddenly deciding instead of making a new console it's a subscription TV channel that runs games in the cloud; it'd alter the whole premise of the brand.
