  1. I would not agree at all that all skills are a novelty, most have a definite use to the overall game. Attack, strength, defence, hp, magic, ranged, summoning and prayer all confer some extra benefits the more you level them through improving combat. Slayer runs quite high up with most slayer monsters offering reasonable profit through drops Fishing and Cooking are necessities of the combat market too - sure YOU might not use them, but if nobody did you wouldnt be buying those fishies you love so much. Etc. About the only ones that lift out massively as having very little boon to being trained at all are Fm, Mining, Smithing, Agility and Construction. Mine and Smith are easily fixable via squashing content down to appropriate levels and adding some new high-end content. The other 3 really need complete overhauls that offer fundamental alterations to what the skill can do to make them have much in the way of practical uses.
  2. Or they could not. Since the 750,000 tier is gone, it looks like free players aren't going to get in regardless. Jagex has said that if 750k is earned F2P will open up, even after they bumped the rewards for 750k down to 500k. We are under 450k votes with like 25 hours remaining - it's going to take a sudden surge of votes to get 500k, 750k may as well not exist as a tier at this point. Never say never. We had math equations predicting 208k at 2 week end and that doubled. I was just saying the 750k tier still exist even if it's not gonna be earned. That is true but mathematical predictions at an early stage are likely to be off by a fair margin - they rely on the assumption the existing curve of vote rate will persist indefinitely - a fact which is unlikely to be true given any length of time, not to mention the various PR stunts of course had an impact. What is interesting s the convergence of misplacedme's estimations in the past 24 hours or so By votes during the most recent log: 460,098 By votes in the last hour: 457,361 By votes in the last 24 hours: 450,687 By votes since logging began: 465,490 She's(?) not using any fancy predictive algorithms just simply projecting the last Vote per minute (from the 5 min logs) Vote per hour, vote per 24 hours and votes in the entire time of the poll forward at a flat rate to the final timeframe. The fact that all 4 are converging suggests, baring any miraculous change to voting, the estimation is getting quite accurate. Which puts our final tally quite neatly in the 450-460k ballpark, which in turn implies even with a final PR stunt to create another bump (based on how the prior ones worked) we aren't going to hit 500k very easily at all.

  4. Oh no you can still summon it at will, it's just a tick box that causes it to take a slot in the pet house and appear around the house; though they very rarely spawn in house unless u got empty rooms around or set them to baby. Too big.
  5. The pets would run away from you... Fair point. I don't really count the menagerie, because pets themselves are more or less completely cosmetic (SGS ones not withstanding, but those have zero interaction with the menagerie), but I can see why others might and the summoning obelisk is useful even if only modestly so. Not true. Once fully grown the SGS pets can be put in the menagerie from the customisation interface; same as any other pet. Of course this is really pure cosmetic but it is interaction none the less
  6. The pets would run away from you... That's but one room. Hardly justifies the skill as a whole. But it does count as a 'single meaningful utility update' that occurred 'since its inception' hence why miss lioness choose to bold that part of the post which she quoted. Guys stop being such douche[canoes] and stay on topic, he made one generalization, chill the [bleep] out. Will be updating first post with proposed ideas. @MotherBrainII, good points, I'd agree, though as other's have pointed out the Menagerie update has been kind of nice, less of a crowded bank (lol because P2P banks get crowded - since when?). YEAH GUYS, CHILL OUT. YOU GUYS ARE GETTING REALLY RAMBUNCTIOUS, YOU ASSBLASTING SHITFEELING BUTTTRENCHES. I want at least a deposit box in my PoH. Maybe a full fledged bank. Just a graphics update would be nice, though, and maybe an option that allows us to move around rooms without having to demolish them. You sir have won the thread.

  8. I knew what it does - I just have never heard it called the 'scroll button' only ever heard it called the scroll wheel with which you can middle click.
  9. If you use the rest of your keyboard functionally mouse based movements are better as seen in almost all games that require it. Thats why wasd is so much better then arrow keys for movement because you have other functional keys near by and you use the mouse for moving in the "third" dimension. Meh like I said I find using the arrows to be less hassle; for me it works better and I get more done. I also hate WASD and change controls to arrows in most games that allow - I just can't get on with WASD.
  10. Oh the middle button/scroll wheel - that makes sense now. Thought pressing and swivelling sounds like more hassle than using the keyboard imo.
  11. I must admit I'm not even sure what people means when they say the 'scroll button' so yeah I'm as clueless to it doing anything to do with camera controls.
  12. All the D&Ds are pretty much on par, Big Chin for hunter Stars for mining Evil trees for wc and fm Circus for mage ranged agile fm and thief (with the right quests and 1 skill per event) Penguins for any skill you like Possible to do a skill route on trolls thou a bit of a pita God Statues for con & pray/slay Tears of Guthix for weekly xps Sinkholes are quite handy for free dg xp at lower levels too and/or skillers wanting dg lvls without the hassle of finding teams thtll take lvl 4s
  13. Some overworld use would be nice for some more examples of what could be done: One off Edgeville repair work Mixture of one off and repeatable repair works around West Ardy to make it into a normal city repeatable ones being like patching up buildings otherwise shops shut etc. Similar things could be done in the Varrock slums and Burgh De Rott
  14. Interesting how at this stage all 4 estimations from Misplacedme's graph are starting to converge, guess this means (excluding any sudden surges) it's getting pretty accurate to where the final tally will fall: Total votes on March 1, 2013(estimate) By votes during the most recent log: 443,010 By votes in the last hour: 442,988 By votes in the last 24 hours: 451,583 By votes since logging began: 471,573
  15. ^I'd also add no-one is asking for it to become something that is not a gold sink - people simply want it to have a practical use. A gold sink most don't train due to it providing almost nothing of use is not a very good gold sink at all. I mean PoH do have a few useful features: 1) Portals 2) Altar 3) Obelisk 4) Costume storage 5) Pet storage 6) Armour repairs 7) Tool racks/shelves 8) Teletabs 9) Bookcase for lore lovers/bank clearing. Unfortunately almost all of these are some what negated these days 1) Lodestones eliminate all but the Canafis portal as useful - and that one can be ignored easily with things like fairy rings, Draken medallion etc. 2) Altar still has a use, but in terms of training speed it is better to use someone elses, and even if you do want your own you only need level 72 3) Obelisk sort of has a vague use, but it was never that great - there's plenty of other easy to hit ones right by major bank hubs (eg edge) 4) Costume storage is brilliant, but with flatpacks can be obtained with almost no training 5) Pet storage holds a use atm but they intend to move all pets into the customisation interface negating the need for pet storage 6) Armour repairs are of course awesome, but thats like lvl 50 something to build and you can use other peoples 7) Tool racks and shelves have been rendered almost entirely useless via leprechaun storage and the toolbelt - the few items they still offer that aren't on there can be easily gotten from other locations. 8) Teletabs still have a use (mostly home tabs for modified teles though) but again can be done at very low levels. 9) Bookcase still holds use but its not exactly ever been a HUUUUGGGGGE use and again very low level to get it.
  16. They said one 'early 2013' and one 'late 2013' So Jan-June and July-Dec I'd say may-june is likely for the first one Sept-dec for 2nd
  17. The triples are story missions, just like all story missions they happen once.
  18. They did mention creating streets with friends/clanmates. Something like that would allow skill plots easier me thinks - eg theres certain skill type rooms you can only have 1 of so you have to work together with your houses to get everything on your street. Eg a room holding a mini-game direct entry portal so 1 person could have a dg doorway, another could have a pair tht go to the swars graveyards or a trio to cwars. Plus have some buildings seperate from houses you need a buttload to build supplied by atleast 2+ players; heck could even require teamwork to set some stuff up. Eg have dungeon rooms you can add say 10 of a monster to but to do that 4 of you need to craft special staves using rocks from the dungeon, enchanted with the monsters remains then perform a capturing spell around a monster (kinda like thunderous trap) in the main game world to make 1 spawn in the dungeon. And could make higher monsters need more people.
  19. So your icons are against you getting a trio then - seeing as missionary and occultist are in different trio sets. Really you want Whaler + Assassin + Occultist up or Botanist + Missionary + Convict or a 2+1 combo derived from them otherwise ur icons aren't doing you no favours for stories.
  20. Have you got the icons setup to encourage the right sets? Seeing as you need 1 of these combos: Whaler + Assassin Whaler + Occultist Assassin + Occultist To get that trio (obv swap in Miss, bot and con for the other set) and in total there are 21 possible adventurer arrangements only 1/7 odds of the combo you need, let alone them spawning the story. [spoiler=Combos] Whaler Whaler Assassin Whaler Botanist Whaler Convict Whaler Missionary Whaler Occultist Assassin Assassin Botanist Assassin Convict Assassin Missionary Assassin Occultist Botanist Botanist Convict Botanist Missionary Botanist Occultist Convict Convict Missionary Convict Occultist Missionary Missionary Occultist Occultist
  21. Slightly untrue. All we have from jmods is that they want to do an overhaul of the skill, nothing about when. They also have indicated mining, smithing and summoning are up for overhauls. Problem with those being overhauled is for the most part they are still useful. Mining makes money, and summoning well summons. Smithing would be the only one that could be more useful, but i honestly am unsure as to what they could add to that. Construction, as Vezon was implying, literally has little to no use. I wouldn't say they are problem free. Summoning is rather clunky and awkward with many combat familiars never having truly worked correctly and since Eoc it feels very dated. Mining and Smithing's issue is they are predominantly pointless due to 85+ being required for level 50 armours; their rework (from what jmods have hinted) won;t be a huge upheaval just a nice correction in that existing content will be squashed down to level appropriate region and we'll get a bunch of new things to do in the higher end. Many people suspect this is likely to come with the 'level-my-x' update Jagex have mentioned as being able to upgrade things would give easy content to add to fill out blank space in smithing and even mining if they add special ores and such for this process.

  23. If i'm not mistaken, the old thing Jagex did to interfere, was increase the awareness of the 2007scape poll and release the game early? Yes, but those are both very obvious PR stunts they pulled out of the bag when votes started to flat-line. You can see it quite clearly on misplaced graph, right where the curve levelled off to near flat they suddenly spammed twitter and fb and moved the vote to the front page with an instan vote button producing a nice bump. Then as it started to flatline again they suddenly pulled out early access servers to create another bump. Certainly they are not doing anything wrong to play the pr game, but it says a lot when they have to take such dramatic steps, both at points when the voting was flat-lining to bump things along. Not to mention dragging most of the 750k+ tier down to 500k+ At the end of the day, the people who aren't going to vote aren't going to vote, these "dramatic" steps of marketing only help to spread the word and get a more true interest in the servers. If Jagex didn't market it as much as they could they would be stupid. I see you acknowledged there's nothing wrong with it, but you seem to speak of it in negative tone like it is a problem. My only issue with it is the fact they did not make a consistent effort, instead they pulled out gimmick pr stunts each time the vote flat-lined whilst also toying with the vote tiers. It's one thing to promote a vote, it's another to have it there for a few days then suddenly when its doing poorly spam it all over ur social media outlets and promote it to the front page with in-game ads. Then again when it starts failing to suddenly get the dev team spending insane hours getting the servers up for early access. Just it's one thing to advertise such a poll, its another to pull out sudden pr stunts when it is noticeably performing poorly, especially in light of the tier alterations and delay to TWW caused by it.

  25. Huh? Date: 2013-02-26 22:30:00 Live Users: 53,122 [50.19%] 2007 Users: 52,714 [49.81%] Yeah cause obviously my post was psychically accounting for changes several hours after I posted it. Jacmob's gold farmer nuke certainly made a dent in the gap though.
