  1. Jagex, Zynga, Blizzard, and a few other developers have successfully won lawsuits against gold farmers. The opinion of one lawyer means nothing against actual legal precedent. No, it's not "just a game." It's a business, one that real people work real hours in order to feed their real families. Jagex have said for a very long time, as I've already said, that they don't like gambling and that they would be implementing updates to get rid of not only the gambling methods but the casino operators. It's a simple case of these people were playing with fire, despite being repeatedly warned that something would be done if they got out of hand, and now they got burned. They have no one to blame but their own egos. Then find another game, because like or not that's not how it works here. That is why it's called a warning shot. Judging by the response to the RSOF thread, bans will be coming next. Gold farming is not the same as ownership of an account. You're literally comparing two separate and completely different arguments and using them both as the same for purpose of defending a stance. As for "Then find another game, because like or not that's not how it works here." that's not even an argument. That's a "[bleep] off because I CBF actually defending a stance with real logic." Cases against gold farmers are often, if not almost always due to a breach of the DMCA DRM clause, circumventing access control. They do NOT involve whether or not the ToS are binding or enforceable in regards to whether or not you own or only license your account. Goldfarming and account ownership are related however because the goldfarming cases predominantly hinge on the fact the accounts and gold are NOT owned by the users, but by the game company and therefore it is illegal to be selling them for money.
  2. Looks like a rune altar, but certainly not one already in-game, so I'd wanna say soul altar but we are only due easter, though I spose with the new guthixian replacement holiday and lore stuff it could easily be the actual altar. Or perhaps creating an altar or recharging or something.
  3. Major problem with this is that it introduces new gold into the game, which causes inflation. If it is Player versus Player and only one of them can win a portion of the money because of 5%-20% reduction? How is this causing inflation? Money is removed from the game! Doesn't even have to be player vs player for it to avoid inflation really. Use real world type odds from poker and roulette and stuff where weighting is like 35:1 against you (for standard pick a number roulette) Win payout could be 10* your bet and it'd still eat money. Eg say you bet 10k In 36 games 360k would be taken from players. 350k of it would be eaten by loses. Whilst a winner would get a 100k payout. Still -250k in the economy. Same principle current hosts work off the odds are always in favour of the house and the payout for winning, whilst generous, is low enough that it doesn't exceed what the house takes in. I can't see jagex making it be player vs player thoguh. and if its just player vs comp it could cause inflation if people keep doubling bet every time they lose. lose 1m bet lose 2m bet win 4m bet and make 1 mil unless the % taken by the game is extremely high or chance of winning very low, both of which will discourage people from playing, it will cause inflation. Well like I said - using real world type odds the win chances ARE very low in exchange for relatively large payouts if you win - and plenty of people still do that, even in rs where h/c is weighted against you people play. And even if one or two richies play the system betting larger and larger to offset loses not everyone can do that, plus even richies trying to play the system aren't guaranteed to beat it. There could bet 1m, 2m, 4m, 8m, 16m, 32m and then run outta money without winning just the same as anyone else. And even then their tide can be stemmed by house limit on bet size and max bet per day. It'd be naive to think any sort of gambling is going to offer odds good enough to make inflation possible, it's just not how gambling is setup the entire premise of it is that the house is ALWAYS at an advantage and enough of one that it ALWAYS makes more money than it pays out.

  5. I think do all 3 of the first one. Against the rules, break the things used for it AND offer a legit replacement.
  6. And to add to that. A quote from you on the RWT banned thread. "I will admit in dicings hay-day I partook in selling gold. Making max cash+ daily in Mew2 and seeing my friends do it and get away with it I thought "why not". I thought I had sound reasons to sell.. Most went to tuition, but I did make two "big" purchases (custom desktop and iPad)." And a quote from earlier in this thread. "Please tell me why I deserve the mute? I don't spam and I don't use offensive language. Therefore I have broken no rules. As for being banned. I have done nothing to constitute a ban(scamming/rwt/botting) so don't tell me I deserve a ban when you don't know me" Nice contradiction Vann. Saying you've never rwt yet you have admitted previously to rwt. This is why we can't have nice things. [/hide] To clarify, I meant I'm not actively breaking any rules. As for that post on the other thread, I haven't sold gp since 2011. It was a means to an end as you see I paid off university debts with it and got a computer/iPad for class. Since selling I have regretted doing it and have been against rwt since then. I agree the impact of rwt on runescape is bad and where a lot of the front men for rwt are hosts, they only constitute a small portion of gp sales. @Hedge- I owe you 1B? I have to say I find this stance quite laughable. RWT is bad and wrong and I've never done it since the time I did do it, at which point it was totally justified because I only did it to pay off university and buy myself new stuff. I mean I haven't broken any laws at all since 2011 when I murdered that guy and murder is totally wrong, but it's okay because I only used it as a means to an end. I needed some cash from selling his stuff to pay off some credit card debt and buy myself some nice new shoes.* *Disclaimer - This statement is in noway factually true, I know this should be obvious to most but someones bound to not understand.
  7. I should imagine it's a bug; according to info in bts videos etc they recoded magic recently to work the same as range and melee so it's likely old checks for only magic attacks have been overlooked and don;t recognise the new system correctly.
  8. So the long and short of all that is the best general setup is: 5 Morale 5 SF 5 Combat 3 Judge 3 Merch 4 Ox Aka the one we had several pages back before it was all recalced?
  9. No the explanation of that (given by jmods at some point or other) is that the Balance and Chaos elements are sort of outside time. They exist in all places at all times - hence why Chaos gave predictions in the letters to them future past and present are all one in the same. Hence why a meeting we have not had yet is where he knows us from. Kinda like the whole Dr Who River Song meeting in the wrong order thing where each time they meet she knows him less but he knows her more.
  10. Them new posts sound cool my only concern is 'redistribute high level armours' kinda implies each set is going to be one thing only so we'll end up with situation where your armour might suddenly be a type you don't like. I'd much prefer it if, for example, you smithed/got as a drop unwearable 'Virtus Plate' (or w/e) then when not in combat and at an anvil/crafting station/imbuing station (melee/range/mage) you could turn it into Virtus top (d) virtus top (p) virtus top (h) or virtus top © - all untradeable but have the stats then you can switch it at the same place again. So back at an anvil you can make it plain to sell or swap to hybrid or w/e
  11. Crazy talk. He is a Mahjarrat no question about that. Plus all the Mahjarrat exhibit distinct skills that vary from each other but specifically Zemergoul's zombie hordes are not that different from Sliske's wights. Enkhara also compelled people to do her bidding, even turning Anthankos into a bone guard to control him. Bilrach also has a buttload of slaves that seem to be borderline thralls. From examples of stand out examples Khazard could recede into the shadow world to survive, Hazeel has means to die and be resurrected etc. Also the Origins of Gielinor video kinda hints at the fact the Elder gods are dead (Gielinor was their last creation) combined with the Tokhaar waiting for instruction from their master (an elder god) for all these centuries plus the visuals of their size and form make it very clear Sliske isn't one of them.
  12. The way they said it very expressly called it a 'new armour system' and suggested all existing armour would have the choice of going defensive or offensive. Hence why I think level-my-x is likely they already mentioned in an 'other news' fairly recently about a soon to be out eoc tweak being our gear getting stronger with us so oft times, for example, your levelled whip will be stronger than a fresh bought chaotic.
  13. Hard to say but from the way they say it ALL armour sets are gonna start at a ground 0 with basic defence and lp stats and then (presumably using level-my-x previously mentioned) will be able to gain more def + lp by choosing the defensive route OR hit bonus/other offensive things with lower lp and def gains. eg Bronze Plate would be say 100 lp 100 def Hit level 1 - pick offence of defence Bronze plate (1d) would be 200lp 200def Bronze plate (1o) would be 125lp 125def 25 hit bonus Or w/e Thats how I'm taking it anyways.
  14. Does it not make it clear that they are against it when they purposefully removed most of the gambling methods AND in this month bTS expressly said they would be implementing changes to rules and content to stamp out flower games? Certainly it is currently within the rules, but it is rather a naive argument when Jagex have made it clear they are against it and have been working towards removing it. Continuing to do it, however legitimately, is done so in light of it being a practice Jagex are trying to remove and likely to become rule-breaking at any moment.
  15. Go into noticeboard and check the each of the task lists. - Make sure you have it set to only display incomplete tasks. Odds are your missing a task that they added in/tweaked with various game updates or one of the Burthorpe tutorial ones.
  16. Doesn't sound like it simply prayers and pots boost your stats therefore making stats mean something makes them more useful
  17. Very interesting stuff, even if most of it's already in-game. The upcoming armour reworks for choice of offensive or defensive sounds intriguing - sounds like level-my-x for armour at least. Stats meaning more sounds like a nice move as well, make pots and 99s worth it again. Momentum becoming a toggle instead of an ult sounds good too - will make slayer tasks a lot less faff.
  18. I wouldn't say necessity Day 1 > Pincers 0 totems I have rocktail soup, death lotus body, death lotus legs, seasinger body, seasinger legs, tetsu body and 2/4 tetsu legs found and that was with a good smattering of failed scroll voyages along the way and a few I skipped due to too high reqs/stories
  19. None that I am aware of, by this point most people seem to of realised co-oping isn't exactly brilliant - faster tasks yes but all this means is more time travelling too and from a slayer master for less overall xp and drops. Plus since none of the rewards are that useful or necessary fro Comp cape not many people bother with it that I know of. Best bet seems to be friends and/or clan mates.
  20. Maybe it's because so few of the characters are human? All the Godwars bosses are voiced. How many of them are human? In the FAQ they said it wasn't voiced because so many of the NPCs involved feature heavily in other quests and content and they don't wanna only partially voice them, but equally don't have the dev time to voice everything.
  21. I'd ask when did you get the barmaid event? Sure you just did it then checked and got the marketeer, but did you get the barmaid event today or did you get it yesterday and just not complete it? (ergo it's not todays random event, its yesterdays)
  22. I'd put that down to keeping the list managable :P. Prerequisite quests naturally take place before the quests that require them. E.g. you need the whole quest line of Recruitment Drive > Wanted! > Devious Minds > Temple at Senntisten (as well as Wanted! > Slug Menace > ROTM) and there is no way Recruitment Drive takes place before Wanted! :P. See I'd assume that it's just the inclusion of all the parts of the Zanik line that throws me, like why do that for one series and not for others? But this is Jagex we are talking about...
  23. Yeah my bad on that one I meant Jas not Guthix - too much Guthix on the brain in this thread!
  24. Only these quests • The Lost Tribe • Death to the Dorgeshuun • Another Slice of HAM • Land of the Goblins • The Chosen Commander • Tail of Two Cats • Enakhra's Lament • Fight Arena • Hazeel Cult • Temple of Ikov • Desert Treasure • Tale of the Muspah • Missing My Mummy • Defender of Varrock • The Curse of Arrav • While Guthix Sleeps • Ritual of the Mahjarrat • The World Wakes • The Firemaker's Curse • Temple at Senntisten Are to be considered 'the past' as of next week and all it means is 2 things: 1) Any game content will use npcs/events from these without requiring them. 2) When you begin any of them there will be a small message to say they are essentially a flashback. From RSOF Runescape Timeline sticky My problem with this list is some quest series aren't entirely in there: eg Missing My Mummy requires The Golem Icthlarin's Little Helper The Restless Ghost Gertrude's Cat Diamond in the Rough Stolen Hearts But none of these are included in the past list so presumably aren't the past? Based on the fact all parts of Zanik story are listed.
  25. I think no, to me the point of a costume room isn't outright instant access convenience it is the boon of being able to keep more of these armours sets and such to hand without eating bank space at the price of slightly harder to get too. If you changed that it'd be a nail in the coffin on PoH and also make the costume room pointless, they could just give us bank spaces instead. To me it's a nice design to have some boons, eg extra costume storage, that come at the cost of slightly decreased access compared to the bank. In the same way the extensive fairy ring network is a great boon to getting around but at the cost of not being directly accessible unless you are near a ring and having to jump to Zanaris before you move on.
