Copyright can't touch anything other than images. The text is self-written and under no way infringes jagex copyrights. Maps could go either way. But yeah legally they can't stop people writing guides. It only can be legally attacked against if its libel, which guides are not but things like tip.it times articles could be accused of, or if people try to charge for it, as that is also technically illegal as you are making money off someone elses copyright, even if indirectly

A walkthrough is supposed to do just that--walk you through it. Is it? I expect my teacher to "guide" me through the subjects I need to learn. However I don't expect them to hold my hand and tell me every little step I need to take. I don't understand why runescape would ever release such guides though: they more or less destroy a big part of quests, the finding of the items. (If they wished for items to be found without difficulty they couldve just made them pop up in your interface, or layered in bare sight). A guide does teach you and not hand hold. But a guide and a walkthrough are different things. A walkthrough walks you through it step by step. Same way tip.it quests walkthroughs detail everything

Bot prevention (not solution)
1) Will delay bots by all of a couple of hours so pointless. 2) Unfair to skill pures and new players who happen to train 1 skill rapidly 3) Why? Theres no reason for a quest for most of them; so it'd just be awkward and clunky and delay bots by all of 15 minutes while they do the quest 4) Unfair to skill pures 5) Unfair as it enforces trianing other unrelated skills 6) Unfair on poor noobs and would delay bots by like no time at all.

Saradomin, Guthix, and Zamorak will team up and push a pillar on Zaros. Sorry. Don't forget the incredibly annoying interface you have to use! Also the random dungeon with no explanation just to use Dungeoneering in a quest! The only thing being ROTM couldn't be more justified in using DG; what with daemonheim being where Bilrach is and Bilrach being a mahjaratt who'll have to attend the ritual and what not.

Same they'd make an awesome pet, let them grow into sort of adolescent bloodveld somewhere in size between tiny and harold

Lord Drakan used to serve Zaros, so he might have tought him a spell or 20. Lord Drakan in turn might have passed that knowledge to his most loyal servants. The allignement doesn't fit, as you said, but those *are* powerfull spells, so they could have just opted for power. Strictly speaking ancient mage isn't just Zarosian. Lore says a lot of powerful battle magic was lost/forgotten during godwars, so only the immortal Mahjaratt's seem to know it now; and evn they are pretty much 50:50 zaros and zammy. Most logicall route would say its mahjratt magic (as they are powerful mages) that they shared with allies; so Zarosians, Zamorakians of the time and now us the player. But yeah drakan was zaros then went zammy.

Temple Treking/ Burg de rott updating info
Bumping this as the guide on site still includes many errors and lacks info on various things (all of which this topic covers nicely) and its been weeks now with no fixes to certain MAJOR issues (eg the paragrpah about follower level effecting number of enemies which is just completely wrong)

Hopefully new spell is kinda like a leet cross-breed of ancient effects sort of like shadowy blood ice that smokes.

Quests for penguin points
They can and have. Actually yeah that is true, not seen one there in AAAAGGGGGGES though, my mistake True, but you need to complete Fremennik trials to even start Fremennik islands. As the guide says you need to start Fremennik island to get to the island, the fact that you have to complete Fremennik trials is kinda' understood. I was more pointing out the fact it said u just need to start trials for misc and etc opposed to completed and jsut making it clear for the other islands so op don't try and start quest for a neit peng to only find he can't

Branches of Darkmeyer suggestions
I'd suggest the guide needs some general editting all over, a lot of the parts inside darkmeyer itself are kinda vague and awkward comapred to the jagex quest guide, which just makes tip.its look shoddy. Other than that Misdrievus Vakan should be she not he I believe, unless I'm highly mistaken the character had female breasts; could be mistaken though. That aside main suggestion is tree puzzle 3 and perhaps 4, could do with solution images that are tidier solutions and thus easier to follow how they solution works. Puzzle 3: Top line green blue green blue then a line of orange. Then in remaining 2 lines do 1 line of green blue green blue and the other orange Puzzle 4 has less mess to it, but could still be tidied up a bit The final battle: Red - bit awkward it is NECCESSARY to use 1 blisterwood weapon not just recommended. Green - Wrong, he can still be meleed in the air; check the update thread in gen discussion plenty of people (myself included) did it with only polearm and had no toruble hitting him. Bold - Worth noting he rarely uses his melee attack and the mage attack hits much harder Italics - Worth nothing he can also freeze you ontop of a blood pool if you move to slowly Underline - As cited in the update thread in gen discussion (page 9 or 10) the mod who made the quest confirmed darkness is avoided by moving the camera to face away from vanstrom, not by simply turning your back. Could be worth mentioning, especially as the mechanic seems a bit hit and miss atm. Blue - Totally fails to mention that throwing the vial produces a puddle and that vanstrom must be over the puddle to take damage Oh and the final attack eatting for seems needless, I was on like 170lp no food left. It seems to hit you just enough to leave you near dead, but won't kill you.

Quests for penguin points
Seems like a good list cept slight flaws I see. Ghosts Ahoy - Free entrance to Port Phasmatys (Not required to enter Port Phasmatys) Why on the completed to access new areas list since it is not required at all to reach the place? Fremennik Isles, The - To get to Neitiznot and Jatizso Fremennik Trials, The - To get to Miscellania and Etceteria Lunar Diplomacy - To get to Lunar Isle Last I checked you need to complete Fremmy trials before any of the boats will take you anywhere, as they distrust non-fremennik Lost City - To get to Zanaris Not neccessary for pengs, AFAIK they can't appear in Zanaris

It does it is a reward from ROTM (but it doesn't mention slayer in it). No proof that is the slayer dungeon, slayer dungeon could be in october updates. But yeah rotm does have a new dungeon in rewards, so could be.

Assuming this is about the vanstrom off cam for shadow attack, perhaps that is why I managed to have him on cam but no damage? I use resizeable, so perhaps the "edge" areas that are extra to the fixed display (eg area reward interfaces etc covers) are considered "off cam"
-
31-Aug-2011 The Branches of Darkmeyer
Fair enough, but either way I 100% know I didn't take my cam off Vanstrom and actively rotated it to keep an eye on him and I didn't get hit by shadow attacks at all.

lol wat, thats blatently RSOF unreliable nonsensical babble. Camera view would never effect combat. Plus the sheer number of good reliable questers on this thread who have beat him and avoided damage from the shadow attack by just running away kinda proves otherwise; especially since standard combat tactic is to keep the camera on the foe. I certainly kept my camera pointed at Vanstrom for the entire fight all 3 times and no shadow attack damage. Yeah. Jmods often post nonsense that turns out to be incorrect tbf and thats certainly not a jmod name known for reliable info. But like I said I never turned the camera off Vanstrom and I avoided all shadow damage.

Why does it rule the Stone of Jas out? I would say that its not possible for it to be anything other than the stone. After all, Drakan's sister never says that whatever it is that hes obsessed with is in his possession. Because she said he FOUND/DISCOVERED the stone and locked himself away WITH the stone to study it and hasn't been out in centuries. Which is also confirmed by some of the dialogues with sentinels in upper tier who also clearly indicate Drakan is locked away with the stone. So yes it is in his possession. Which rules out Stone of Jas. If the Sentinels do say that, then i guess it can't be Jas. However, I have Screenies of her chat and she never explicitly states that Drakan has it in his possession, only that "He's locked himself away obsessing over some old stone." I swear she explicitly says he has it down 1 dialogue routes, I recall reading it; unless it was jsut my english analytical mind breaking that sentence down to the implicit suggestion he has it as shown below. If he didn't have it he would be obsessed by/with it not obsessed to over it. Obsessed over it implies ownership so one can constantly tinker with, explore study etc the object. Plus the tense factor, an object you don't is generally obsessed while having the object is usually obsessing. Eg Susan is obsessed with a bag in topshop vs Susan is obsessing over her new bag. Plus theres the locking away factor, if he doesnt have it but is obsessed by it he'd be logically be out looking for it not locked away; especially given the fact he has been locked away for centuries. Based on that sentence alone there is some wiggle room, but the specific wording is suggestive of him owning the stone, but yeah I swear one of the sentinels very clearly say he's locked away with the stone; but their dialogue is effected by what route you go with the choices so some could miss it.

Then what about this? It explains Drakan's dominance over the land, theories on where he came from and the tale of a Queen from a far away land ruling before him; which is backed up by other books to be the Queen Effitertir (something like tht) who was an Icyene and ruled Hallowvale with her husband until Drakan seiged the city cpatured jher husband and forced her to surrender the city to him. Which is also further backed up by Drakan's sister telling us this Queen is Safalaan's mother and he is half Icyene. Nothing in there says mahjratt, only portal-type reference is something think that he (Drakan) came from beneath the ground of one of the castles and even that is suggested to be tunnels leading to a flaming abyss type location and not an actual portal.
