It was a bank holiday in the UK today, and no it was not second in the bts it was last: http://services.runescape.com/m=news/behind-the-scenes---august-5 Erm no. MONDAY the 29th was bank holiday. The no game update thread in future updates jsut said it wouldnt be today due to the bank holiday. Ergo normal week update is tuesday not monday; this week bank holiday makes stuff a day late. And it is quite clearly third in BTS, with mini-game rewards and edgeville update listed after it.

Turn off resizable play mode? It would lower you're view range in-game. which can slow you down, but also shortens the click distances. Bout all I could think of, oh and un-bank small pouch could help. Few more ess per run will up xp rate and it uses virtually no extra bank time. Just do fill small and med on step 3, takes like a fraction of a second longer. Though the overall xp/hr outcome on 3 pouch vs 4 pouch is debatable and the better xp/hr seems to vary from person to person on tht matter. But in purely mathematically terms the fractional extra time banking and emptying at other end shouldn't outweigh the xp boost.

Consoles will fade out after a few generations. There's no real reason that we need them anymore (apart from Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo insisting that we do). It won't be too long 'til we download games straight onto out T.V.s that are basically giant tablets. All the necessary components to read & play the games will be built into the T.V. That's how I see the future playing out, anyways. Back onto topic, I don't think the console is the way to go. Handheld systems and smartphones/tablets have much better for a game like Runescape. And if the free-to-play version of the game will be accessible via the consoles, something needs to be done about the botting problem in f2p. Needless to say, new players logging in to see gold spammers and being unable to gather resources or kill basic low level creatures aren't likely to continue to play and eventually upgrade to p2p. If you want more subscribers and their money, you need to craft a half decent game (i.e. fix the so many rampant problems RS has). I would agree but tv/vhs combis and tv/dvd combis were and still are the over-priced not made by big brand items that have a tendency to **** up. They never managed to make the VHS and now DVD/blu-ray player redundant, so I don;t see why the games console will go that way anytime soon; especially given the nature of a games platform. Plus if tvs had it built in, each tv maker would end up with slightly different games engines that couldn't run every single game anyway, so it would only make a specific console useless. Eg sony tvs could intergrate a PS, but it wouldn't run wii or xbox games. The chances of 1 universal platform being forms and shared between all tv companies is quite slim. Then there's the factor TVs aren't concerned with that tech at all yet; internet tv, on demand services, streaming, hd and 3d yes but no signs of gaming interest. Plus they keep wanting to and making tvs thinner and thinner; games consoles need space for storage etc and get hot so need collants etc which wouldn't fit in the slim line tv. And parental control issues; games and consoles can be confiscated easily..but if its in the tv itself its harder to use it as a punishment would likely make it an undesirable move to a large slice of the gamer market. Maybe some day, but I can't see it happening any time soon at all.

I fail to see why consoles are a step back since mobile gaming exists? Mobile gaming kinda pre-dates the console boom anyway (gameboy anyone?) and has been a constant presence in nintendo ds, psp etc. It's an entirely separate market to console gaming; in the same way pc gaming is a separate market to console gaming. Console gaming isn't going anywhere anytime soon, because it's always gonna to be possible to do it bigger, better and more immersing on a console than on a portable device.

[Mod Edit: REmoved bad quote] Personally I find all 3 consoles have their merits and limitations and suit different game styles differently. Though there is some overlap between xbox and ps obviously and there my choice is based on price + if its got online play which set of friends is likely to buy it.

Hi I have actually also thought of this too - as you say the characters have an interest in the region and one does tend to get abit emotionally atteched to the characters while trying to level them up. However, I see the problem for players who don't play Temple Trekking as they, as you have said, will have a party of level one characters. If Jagex made a quest like this then they would be spammed by players whinning about the unfairness in that they have to play a mini-game (which they don't want to) in order to be able to solve the quest easy. But none the less I think it is a good idea. Also no way that smiddi, jayene and dean would be used. The lore behind them is that they are escaping burgh de rott with your help. Pazuzu, Zachory and Rolayne on the other hand may be as they are going down there to help the fight.

Learn the difference
Actually, they are grammatically correct, with regards to the people writing "sell/buy x". They would however, be wrong if they wrote "selling/buying x" but still meant it in the aforementioned context, i.e writing "buying iron longsword", but wanting you to buy it. Writing "buy iron longsword" is a petition for you, the potential customer, to buy the longsword, therefore it makes perfect sense. Although I agree that it isn't a handy way to barter in a game where all communication is text-based. It's not grammatically correct. Grammatically correct would be: Buy my iron longsword or Would you buy my iron long sword Or even grammatically flawed but still "correct" in terms of meaning. You buy iron long sword Without the extra words that turn "buy" into an instruction opposed to an action "buy iron longsword", while grammatically flawed, most logically derives to meaning buying as it is just in the wrong tense. After all on its own buy means to purchase and sell means to make a sale; so "buy iron long sword" being yelled can be assumed to be voicing a persons intent. As such they are voicing an intent to purchase an iron long sword. Opposed to adding in command words, as shown above, that turn the statement into a command or instruction which makes "buy" apply to the other party and thus shows the speakers intent to sell. Unless there is a word to shift the focus of buy from the speaking party then its meaning won't invert, as it were, to mean the speaker is selling. Orally spoken you could make "buy iron longsword" convey a meaning you wish to sell one, but in just a textual format the meaning is that you are buying by all measure of grammatical construct and general rules of English language.

ConsoleScape
The cross-platform issue completely went over your head. There's a fair few examples of games on pc and ONE console that can interact, there's no qualms about that. The cross platform issued raised in the article is specifically about between consoles; nintendo, microsoft and sony won't allow their consoles to interact with other brands of console. A nintendo game can interact with Wii and DS users, but not with xbox or ps A playstation game can do ps and psp but not xbox or wii or ds An xbox game can do xbox, but not wii, ds, ps or psp

To be fair: Jagex have confirmed ROTM isn't the "end" for the mahjratt. It just ties up the on-going ritual story arc, and according to the 15% membership news post ties up Lucien's plot. We still have several big mahjratt based plots to bubble along nicely AND jagex did say somewhere ROTM will actually start off 1 or 2 new mahjratt stories (eg sliske). I mean there heaps of mahjratt stuff left to do. Hazeel's next step, Azzandra restoring Zaros, Jhallan post-ritual, Zemergoul's next move in his quest for varrock and us nicking Arrav's heart, Enkhara and Anthankos on-going feud, General Khazard being stuck in the shadow plain and hating us, Bilrach's dealings under daemonheim. They didn't say RotM would give way to new Mahjarrat storylines. If I remember correctly, Paul's devblog said that the quest will give rise to several interesting overarching storylines only touched on previously. One of these is undoubtedly going to be the Dragonkin. Also, I don't really see much point in having individual Mahjarrat related quests post RotM and I expect to see most of the loose ends you mentioned tied up in the quest itself. Afterall, what's the point in having a quest with Zemouregal just attacking Varrock again only with added power. The only Mahjarrat I hope to see with his own questline post RotM is Sliske, mainly because he has close ties to the Barrows brothers and Nex which would be interesting to see more of. Also, if ANY of the the signature heroes are in this quest, I'll go find the dev that ruined arguably one of the best and only good storylines left in the game and put his head through the computer screen. (lolemptythreat) They said it'd start 2 or 2 new stories, finish 1 or 2 (aside from the ritual) but touch on most of the stories as obviously all the characters will be there. Also there's plenty of story left in the mahjaratt post-rotm; afterall they mostly have many nefarious plans to play out and the ritual is just a distraction from the norm. Plus Zemergoul obv won't attack varrock again since an Arrav descendant is there, doesn't mean he won't come after us though. We did save Arrav from him afterall. If you actually think back over the mahjaratt quests many of them story-wise have very little to do with the ritual itself, aside from the obligatory deciding to head north. To me i view the rotm as the story of the mahjaratt, but all the other stories around it that continue are stories about specific people and their doings, who just happen to be a mahjaratt.

I laughed heartily at the notion you thought this would be disc based. It'll be done via the online download systems, wii store, playstation store and xbox arcade

But what do you want with a god that has not quite the smartest followers ;) There was just more built up potential about him. They pretty much slammed a door in a godly beings face and simply said well that's the end of that. I think a godly being like him needs to be reintroduced and no let fizzle out in such a horrid way. They didn't finish him. They have lots of potential left to progress Bandos lore/bandos avatar plot arc, all they did was end the cave goblin zanik plot arc. You need to realise just cause something happened in a finished story arc doesn't mean its finished with, each story arc has loads going on that isn't exclusive to that 1 story. Like how temple knights featured in the sea slug series, sea slug has finished, but temple knights haven't.

Elder God lore would be the hardest to get without some form of comeback or convoluted plot. After all all species post-date elder gods, in fact the only person to have ANY idea about the is Guthix (and perhaps Seren) I guess Armadyl may be in the works though, afterall we got his fortresses in clan citadels, and there was mention of a flying city ages ago. Wouldn't be surprised if it turns out the city is still there filled with armadylian followers and all sorts of things presumed lost in the godwars.

Vampyres = intelligent civilisation that rule Morytania

Personally I think: Hallowvale's remains are both north and east of the meiyerditch but only the northern area is Darkmeyer, as the vampyre empire seems small in numbers and civilian needs due to the vampyre's sheer power and unstoppability. Then I expect the eastern area to be a further slum, but slightly better standard of structure and living as it is the remains of the city and perhaps houses Icyene who are being tithed. Afterall the lore states Icyene lived in the city, and were still there when it was attacked and captured, so one would assume they are still there SOMEWHERE under drakan's rule. And what we know of the species it may be feasible they are treated slightly better but used to feed Drakan and the high up vampyres on a better quality of blood. Of course purely speculative as all we know for sure is Darkmeyer is north of meiyerditch, but guess some blanks will be filled this week; perhaps even tomorrow.

Double XP weekend
No jagex only ever called it "bonus xp weekend" And I point out the mistake wherever I see it because it is a falsehood and shouldn't be perpetuated; especially as in prior weekends the continued use of the wrong name has lead some users to planning their entire weekend around double xp and thus ending up being majorly screwed as their numbers don't remotely pan out as expected. Besides there's nothing wrong with correcting inaccuracies, even if just in name, as it makes for more coherence of information etc.

Yes the building assumed to be Castle Drakan, or at least own by one of the Drakan family, is the one at the northern end of the currently accessible area; its the one we draw pictures off from the wall during 1 of the quests. Which fits in nicely with the Leather Book (?) which clearly states Darkmeyer is north of mieyerditch.

Double XP weekend
As already covered EVERYTHING that gives bonus xp normally is disabled. This means all sc items, ba horn, goldsmith gauntlets, ectofunctus, gilded altar, brawlers etc. etc. everything. Plus "double xp weekend" is a myth its BONUS xp weekend, owing to the factor the multiplier ranges from 2.7* to 1.1* with 2.0* only being held for a very short portion of the time.

I'd like to point out all of what I said came from actual in-game lore and some theorising based on reasonable assumption. Not random made-up facts that appear on rs wiki. I'd say given the suggested grandeur of Hallowvale it is perfectly reasonable to assume Meiyerditch itself isn't part of the original city. Everything about it is a purpose built ghetto imprisonment. The original city would of had a gate and stone buildings and statues and all sorts that the meiyerditch area just completely lacks, there's no even ruins to evidence such structures. And there is no lore to 100% say meiyerditch was hallowvale, just its in that region. In fact lore does mention a refugee camp outside hallowvale that was later enslaved and tithed, which fits much better with meiyerditch than the idea of it being the city itself does; though it could also be burgh de rott or mort'ton. Plus it is 100% in game factual lore Drakan took over Hallowvale and Drakan now rules Darkmeyer so darkmeyer = hallowvale and its 100% in-game fact that darkmeyer is north of meiyerditch. Oh and as for the east gate being the dragonkin castle, personally I don't buy into it. No real evidence for dragonkin being in that area and the fact the most powerful dragons are all more western suggests so were dragonkin, afterall they made dragons to defend themselves. I just think it may be a architectural similarity due to prior allegiances; the castle ruins in wildy with dragonkin logos certainly suggests Zaros links and early zaros > zammy converts (eg drakan) probably retained much of the building styles. And it is true since it first came out its similarities have been minimised to be a distinctly different building.

Because, if you read the article, all 3 refuse to do cross-console support which makes it 1 or none atm. And the wii format is much much much easier to port the point and click format too.

23-Aug-2011 New Rewards for Minigames
It definitely seems certain games have a "dead" region where if you haven't got item yet you will get it and post-first item the chances scale upwards dramatically. I wouldn't be surprised if it was something like 1 win increases odds by like 0.02% or something starting at say 2% Until you hit like 60% then it starts going up in 1% increments to a max of 80-90% region
