I personally believe that zezima let n0valyfe pass him as a courtesy. At that point, n0va had announced that he was going to quit soon (after his next 200m I believe) and said that getting rank 1 would be nice. Zezima slowed down a lot for a couple weeks until n0va just barely passed him for a day. Right after that, zezima started powering through skills again. This is correct. I think Zezima let him take it for about a day, it certainly wasn't very long. And yes, Zezima is effectively the face of Runescape. He was even in the guiness book of records at some point.

If Elias and Telmo had kept playing like they were, basically driving one another to get higher and higher xp gains, I think they'd be in the top three, with probably Aasiwat first in my opinion. He had a very balanced skill set before he left, with lots of xp in slower skills like Slayer too. I reckon Suomi would be fourth, even though he would probably still have the least time left to 200m all. And Zarfot probably fifth. But if we're going to play this game, why not go back to Zezima? If he had any interest in getting 200m all and hadn't had that big break, he would clearly still be first and would be very close to 200m all.

planning to watch jagex kill it mile by mile inch by inch gradual self destruction and laugh the whole time in real time as it happens. I will be surprised if Jagex endorsed rwt isn't fully fledged in 5 years. Also, I think that the when Jagex introduces these updates they said they were planning to combat, that will be the major turning point.

There's also the spammers. Jake's fc is plagued by a group of 4 or so who join the chat for the sole purpose of spamming. They literally just lobby sit, spamming and flaming, and make a new account everytime they are kicked and then continue, rinse and repeat. This will go on until Jake makes the fc ranks only, and still carries on afterwards sometimes. Its probably too much effort to be worth it for Suomi to open his.

Playing Runescape is not incompatible with life in general. I study Physics at uni, and still have plenty of time to play. Its all about getting the balance right for you, if people enjoy RS enough, and have the finances to support themselves, I have no objection to them playing runescape 12+hrs a day. After all, its their life at the the end of the day. If people are living off benefits when they are perfectly capable and healthy to get a job its another matter, but since you generally don't know the personal circumstances of someone playing RS, you can't assume thats the case.

Really feel for all the high ranked f2p'ers. And all the high ranked players who quit, I really think Jagex need to do a hall of fame type thing, it wouldn't exactly require much effort to copy the current hiscores.

If you want to see a fast dungeon, go to wesellfloors fc, buy a floor and follow Mida veel around. The guy is insane. On a team with two ranks, a random and two leeches they finished the floor (every single door) in 14 minutes. I'd love to see them do a floor with all ranks.

I know. I was just getting into it when I checked 200m thread and saw, and I thought well, I want 85 dg and can play Skyrim whenever. But goddamn it, I so want to go back to it :wall:

The thing with Runescape is its the players who started obsessing about reaching the highest levels; one of the Gowers said that they originally envisaged a dedicated player reaching 60-70 in a skill, and that getting to 99 was just crazy. Xp rates have increased since then, but the point remains that competitiveness between players is what has driven 99 in all but a handful of skills to be seen as near worthless in terms of achievement, and this large number of 99 skills has lead to Jagex creating high end content that now requires that grind to 90+. I think that Runescape definitely needs a well defined end game, more bosses like Nex, perhaps a special ranked PVP tournament for maxed players, and once there is a decent amount of 80+ content for all skills, raising skill caps to 120. Being maxed makes you one of a couple of thousand now, which is no where near as special as it used to be. And don't release any new skills until the current ones have been improved, 25 skills is more than enough for now.

I did it with worse stats and gear than you: 77 ranged and using Karils, without an archers ring. If you use the pillars correctly during most of the fight, you should have a lot of brews left over by the end. Did you pray eagle eye/rigour the entire fight? As you are using super restores regularly anyway, you might as well. And when he is nearly dead, you switch over to the diamond bolts I assume? And again, switch to diamond whilst he is charging his special. The biggest piece of advice I can give is to use a Spirit Kyatt - have a pouch stored in your tortoise, then at the end summon the kyatt. Then run behind the pillar and spam the kyatt's special move. When Nomad shouts 'Face Me!' run out from behind the pillar and let him hit you once. Then go back behind the pillar. Rinse and Repeat. This is the simplest way of dealing with this final stage.

There is (was I suppose) a guy called Jake in Tezz's fc, who people used to joke about giving Tezz the name. Guess he actually did.

Suomi, you're not just using the counter to determine that? Because when I activated mine the counter didn't show the bonus xp, but the bonus was added to to my xp when I hovered over the skill.

Leeching floors 35-40 goes from 5k-6k tokens a time. Also, wesellfloors are great, after buying a few floors they started keying my floors with three ranked members, and in one large I was leeching in they reached the boss in 12 minutes 0.0 . Most floors (opening every door) take 20 minutes, but you have to bear in mind that you'll be getting very fast experience, I got 180k tokens in three days, which ain't too shabby.

Near the top, Runescape has become a significantly more competitive game. Having a billion experience isn't enough for a top 100 rank anymore (which is crazy imo). Zezima was at Uni whilst he was number 1 - I'd say maintaining a top 5, and probably soon top 10, position, is now almost impossible without making RS the priority. Not that this is in any way a bad thing, just saying that is how it is. And seeing as how breaking into the top ten is now almost impossible unless someone quits, the top 100, then two hundred etc. will also become highly competitive in the future. The only people who are really in a position to say that their goal was 200m xp all who explicitly said so were Suomi and Paperbag that I know of. Both of them have showed that they are capable of achieving 200m xp in all skills if they are in a real life position that can support such a goal and if they can find the motivation to keep going. I don't know of any other 2b+xp players who have set this as a goal, and to be honest, even 2B xp isn't even close. When people with orders of magnitude less experience than 5B start claiming that as their goal, I would pretty much ignore them. Of course, I am a total hypocrit for posting this, as it is my goal to max, and I am further off that than some of the people aiming for 200m all are off their goal. :(
