  1. But then again, nothing says that xp is the only way you can grow your rank. You can still grow in MA ranks after 5b xp, for example. You can still get more money. There really is no end to the game, and nothing completes it other than fullfilling whatever you want to do on rs. I agree that the game is grindy, and I think skills like agility could use a rework so that it would be more fun to train them. But that can still only go so far. Even dungeoneering and slayer, which are some of the more variated skills get grindy if your only goal is to get as much xp as you want. To the people saying that rs is the grind and that it needs to be that way: Changing the training methods to methods that's a bit more fun to play still wouldn't destroy your grind. If I understand correctly, and feeling this way my self, to some extent. Even for people that like grind based games, it's not the grind itself, but the setting and reaching of goals which are the main point. So changing the methods (without changing the rate of gaining xp very much) would be a win-win situation, unless it's very important for you to brag about getting 99 rc before runespan/abyss, slayer before EoC etc.
  2. Are you really going to leave that poor pendant at 11k xp? (Grats!)
  3. I might attend this. Haven't attended any tif-events since TET still was around. Looks fun :)
  4. In a way we've got player owned armies through MA, and player owned kingdom at MTK. What about unleashing your elven armies in Kandarin?
  5. If it changed its price to the median trading price for the last four hours or so the first few days, that might have worked? That way the insane high prices would more or less be ignored. The problem is that it still could be manipulated, and I think Jagex really want to avoid that.
  6. I'd recommend killing her with ranging, but i've found that you can make quite a bit of failures and still do her alright. Make sure you're praying protect range, and that you're out of melee range. Kill the worms that spawn, and make sure you're quick when touching the artefacts after each stage (pay attention to her health and move closer to the artefact when she's low on health) Other than that just practise (and make sure you're using super-antifires, I've forgot those way too often)
  7. We obviously cannot apply RL to video games and stay serious; it's still fun to try ;)
  8. It could be that the Gielinor atmosphere (or even just the kalphite give) contains a higher percentage of oxygen than what our dear Tellus does. Also, while on earth, insects couldn't grow extremely large because of their inability to keep the structure up, it is already known that the gravity on Gielinor must be lower than on earth - and thus they can grow much larger. If the kalphite king/queen are too big even when according to the lesser gravity, I don't know. We can still use the magic explanation. (why is the gravity lower, you say? Considering how our person without big troubles can carry hundreds of kilograms, even run a bit with it, it would be fair to assume that the weight of it must be lower than on earth)
  9. I agree that the 5k requirement is insane, and that the ones that like to do that still have their cw games cape to show. I do not, however, agree that it's not their fault for botting. There's nothing that forces a person to get the trimmed version of the comp cape, that's just for the very dedicated, and part of the rules about that cape is (no matter how dumb it is) 5k games. There's a reason they split off the most extreme requirements into the trimmed version of the completionist cape. There's no bonuses to getting the trimmed cape exept golden instead of silver smoke on the cape. How this is something you "must grind through in order to enjoy the game", I cannot see.
  10. Thank goodness, I forgot my bank code generator when I went home for christmas, and wondered if I would make it back before the offer expired.
  11. One of the problems with the cw requirement (apart from that it's so much larger than any of the other trim requirements) is that it doesn't require you to make an effort. In my opinion, changing the requirement to some number of cw wins instead of just games participated be an improvement. You wouldn't be able to loaf through games, and a bot would not outmatch a skilled player.
  12. Have you focused your journeys on the skull region? It could be that you're getting more voyages from the arc than others.
  13. I got owned by forgetting to focus on some and got a scroll on a scrimshaw instead of the armor iwant :P Don't worry. It'll probably be quite some time before you'll get the resources needed to make that armour.
  14. She came back for me after the first day. I hope its daily because the xp was good. She comes back when the new rs week starts. at midnight before wednesday, gmt.
  15. I'm going to exaggerate a bit now, but the point still stands. Say you can gain 1,000,000 xp/h in a skill. So to gain 50k xp you have to train that skill for three minutes. If you get those 50k xp for free, then that will spare you 3 minutes to reach your goal (of level 99 or whatever) On the other hand, lets say we have a skill where you can only gain 100,000 xp/h, to gain 50k experience points, you would have to train for half an hour. So with 50k xp for free you save 30 minutes of training to reach your goal (of level 99 or whatever) now of course, if you train a skill with less than 200k/h you'll get less than 50k bonus experience. With 100k xp/h you'll gain 25k. But that still saves you 15 minutes of training - which is more than those measly 3 minutes from your 1m xp/h skill. What this doesn't account for is money spent. If that 1m xp/h skill also costs insane amounts of money, then you'll spare both time spent training, and time spent getting money for that training. There's calculations to measure how much a cost has to be for it to be worth it, but I'm not going to go into that now. that said, since you save the same amount of time on any skill that's slower than 200k/h, am I right to think that the most expensive skill at sub 200 xp/h often would be the best choice for the aura? (exluding boredom etc, which obviously makes hunter the best choice anyway)
  16. Oh wow, self control until the last exam the 17'th is going to be difficult.
  17. I'm not sure exactly why, but that's one of the coolest pictures I've seen here in a while.
  18. Which would mean 50k bonus xp from the aura, and 50k from the hammers. I'm still wondering if I'm going to use it on construction or on something slower. Depends on if I've got time to do a slow skill for all 30 minutes, or if I have to just do something fast.
  19. Am I the only one that found it a bit odd that the "code" for water surge was 10x water 7x air 1 blood 1 death, when with the eoc it simply requires 5 air and 5 death runes?
  20. Wow, wtf, srs? Isn't that just a bit over the top? I can see why they do it though, december means exams the first half and christmas the second half, so the online numbers probably go down a bit. But again. 50% xp in december! WTF?!
  21. 105$ is what a new ps3 game costs in norway, without any packs :(
  22. Are there many CW strategies that truly take nearly the full 20 minutes to deploy? That's one of the only cases I can really think of where it would hurt legit CW fans. If there's an even match, where the end result after 20 minutes are like 1-0, 1-1, or other low numbers, then the chance of 0-0 games becomes bigger with a shorter match. I'd say 20 minutes are a good time. Would changing the requirement to 5k wins, and accepting all played games so far as wins or something work as a solution. that way they'd need to play to win unless they just count on statistics to win half their matches.
  23. I can't think to wonder if a skill reward that required more than just 2m xp to get would be benefictial to the skill. If you needed, say 20m xp for a semi-trivial boost (lets say a possibility to add a +2 boost in str on some of your equipment), would increase the minimum time needed to be invested into dg let more people get a good taste of it. The more probable thing would be people raging about it, because going through the first 10m before you get the hang of it would be just as bad as it is today. I mean, people complain enough about getting their rapiers.
  24. I think persons are different, with different personalities, and different ways to behave against others. There's absolutely people who are way to harsh with others within the dg community, as there's everywhere. The reason I got into dg, was because of people genuinely interested in teaching dg, and learning how to become better themselves. When I've done (and still do) mistakes, I've usually had them pointed out, so that I can learn from them, but I've not been flamed for those mistakes, because everyone knows that we all start out as in-experienced. I've had people yell at me for things where It'd be enough to just point something out, but It's not the community as a whole that is like this, but rather individuals who (in my opinion wrongfully) believe that yelling at people will force them to improve. I think it's terrible that the dg commnunity has a word for being just a bunch of ragers who aren't interested in letting fresh people join, and it's not at all my experience as a whole, but I hope that that's something we can work with as well - trying to be friendly and inclusive to others. On the other side, I hope that the "regular" mass of rs, those not in touch with this community would try to not just paint a stereotype on us, but rather look at us as a group of individuals, who all have their good and bad days. We're not one homogenous group.
