  1. Maybe have your strength level be the percentage of the weapon's damage that you have access to? So at 99 strength you'd get 980 damage out of your chaotic rapier (Or whatever the bonus is), while at 80 your max would be 784 and boosting to 115 makes it 1127. This sounds like a good idea. My main concern with EoC is that levels, potions and prayers have almost no effect on your damage output. I realize they are currently far too powerful in the live game, but by tacking all stats onto equipment they are essentially doing the same thing again, but instead of needing ovl/turm to compete, you need the best/priciest gears. It might not be so much of an issue yet due to the smaller difference between barrows-GWD-Nex, but as better gear comes out (such as via POPs) it seems likely to get worse.
  2. I did the Academy start to finish, and somehow missed out on one of the ranks in the middle, so got 95% complete. The thingy popped up at the end, so hopefully its ok.
  3. Can't imagine they would intentionally do it, but the lag is pretty unbearable. For comparison, my last dungeon timed 30 mins with DGSweeper but the end time by Jagex was under 20 mins (recall that Jagex counts ticks, so if there is server lag you get a reduced time). Pretty big difference...
  4. Its funny because the event is essentially a carbon copy of the Easter event, FAQ states that they ran out of money to produce an emote for the event, yet the SOF and Solomon departments manage to output intensely detailed gear with their own emotes, sounds, everything.
  5. Just got a pumpkin amulet from my free spins. It doubles experience, 68k based on newspost. Also apparently works with the double experience weekend. Not sure if that means 4 times XP or 3 times XP...
  6. Does this mean they have activated more of botwatch? Can we expect to see more than just adbots at Botany Bay?
  7. @LogDotzip, do you NEED thousands of dollars to support your family? No, never. Recent posts were arguing that people have to sell gold or they will starve - I was making the point that this is never the case. I used the word 'usually' describing that most gambling profits require time input too, obviously I know this is not always the case.
  8. If you are earning thousands of dollars per week in a video game, perhaps the reason you can't provide for your family is because you are spending all your time in a video game. If you used your time some other way, you would almost certainly be able to provide. Gambling isn't fast money, you usually need to be playing long periods of time to earn real money with the fairly slim odds. There are plenty of jobs someone with a broken leg can do (any desk job...) and if a college student is struggling, any time they spend in game should be working a real job. 'No jobs available' is rarely an excuse, any unemployment office could set you up with plenty of interviews, no matter the situation. (Whether the jobs suit you is another thing, but if your family is starving you shouldn't be picky.) There is a reason why Robin Hood was an outlaw: because committing crime is wrong, even if it is for a good reason. Same thing applies here, you entered into a contractual agreement with Jagex upon signing up for the game, by breaching it you are in the wrong, even if your intentions are good, there is no excuse.
  9. I'm sure I read on rsof that the darts only work on current bosses. I thought that would be the case, but they allowed them to work on the new KBD. Obviously he wasn't new, but he was reworked with new drops so I would have thought they would prevent use on him if this was their policy.
  10. Kalphite King was meant to come out this year, do you think it would be worth saving the darts for him? Would Jagex even allow them to work on a freshly released boss?
  11. Is anyone aware of any lore surrounding Living Rock Creatures? If not, I am gonna predict that the mage will appear in a future (higher-levelled) quest to explain them :) Based on the monkey addy scim task, we might see another monkey quest too.
  12. Talk to the Quartermaster in Burthorpe. I spent a couple mins looking too, post wasn't clear =S.
  13. Yay for turning off challenges in 99 skills. Boo for yet another double cash weekend on SOF.
  14. FAQ are out in the Future Updates section of the RSOF. Kinda strange that summoning is doubled but bones on a gilded alter/ecto are not.
  15. @Barney, sure we are blessed but that doesn't mean we should allow things we consider wrong to just go by unnoticed. Otherwise we can extend that false logic to anything. "Oh, the president has been stealing money from the taxpayers for years? Well, lets not make a big deal out of it, we are still so much better off than in other countries where they're dropping cluster bombs on people."
  16. For the most part, I would agree. Just because you are offered incentives to play doesn't mean you have to, and I know that the majority understand this. I am talking about a minority of players, though, and events like this fuel the kind of play styles associated with gaming addictions. Besides the first, there were reduced returns over the weekends, so at least there was less incentive to play non-stop. From the sounds of it this one will be 2x all weekend, which does reward those on for 48 hours. If they are willing to do so, maybe they are already addicted and the point is moot, but in my opinion this encourages extensive play hours (for the vulnerable minority) and sort of acts as a 'gateway' to such addictions. Nuke Marine is right, there are better alternatives. I guess the reason I appear to be one of the 'complaining little [beep]s' is because I thought Jagex realized the negative effects such events had when they announced their 'rethinking' and began offering alternatives like the necklace. Because the responses are making me paranoid, I'll try address some concerns in advance: -I am not suggesting that Jagex is forcing you to play non-stop. I am suggesting that some players will be encouraged to do so, and that Jagex should have considered them, even if they are a very small minority. Even if Thus doesn't care they get blood clots, for some reason I do. -You might not think video game addiction is a real thing, that's fine, I know it is not a recognized disorder. I am of the opinion that it is, based on media reports and literature I have read, and this is the basis for some of my opinions. -Someone is going to make sarcastic comments that I believe every silly little thing is an addiction, that's not true. I believe gaming addiction is real because sufferers continue despite the adverse physical and social effects it has on them. I don't believe you are addicted to candy just because you have a chocolate bar once in a while.
  17. Keyword: Actively. ACTIVELY. I meant it with this definition: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/actively 7. Grammar a. Indicating that the subject of the sentence is performing or causing the action expressed by the verb. Bonus experience weekends are the subject, which are causing the action of some users to play extensively over the weekend. Sorry if my word choice offends you; please try focus on the meaning of my posts rather than pedantics.
  18. Gwasha that is not what I was saying at all. If anything, I am saying it should be broader - like mad may necklace. Maybe you get a timer and can use ten hours of bonus experience in smaller increments whenever you see fit. This would discourage unhealthy play and reward everyone equally.
  19. *Points to main post* Is it really that hard to see? They are offering great rewards for those who are on during these hours. This encourages some to play extensively to reap the rewards only available during these hours. Even if it was not their intention, even if they don't actually say the words, it still encourages this type of play. Choose to read it how you wish to, if you enjoy these weekends and do not see any negatives then so be it. It's the internet, I am not going to change your mind, nor will you change mine about how events like this do more harm than good.
  20. Ok, it seems like people like to misinterpret. And hyperbole. I have no problem with people playing long hours. Hell, I have played 6+ hour days myself. But that doesn't mean Jagex should actively encourage you to play a full 48 hours non-stop to try get all the benefit from the weekend. Bad analogy: I also have no problem with people smoking, but I don't believe we should have TV ads which encourage it.
  21. Thus, bonus experience weekends are not new? Giving free players something this time is nice, but it is not difficult to see how these do more harm than good. If you don't believe it is harming the game, at least see that events like this convince a minority to players to stay on for ridiculous hours to try gain the most benefit out of the 48 hours. Its not healthy.
  22. Where does SOF or Solomon appear in their post? I wish I could slap you irl. Uh, I was just listing the updates we have seen over the last few months.
  23. Dammit Jagex, this is not the way to attract and keep players long-term members. If anything, this is making the loyal players fed up with the constant bull getting thrown as us, and only attracting short-term players unlikely to stay for the long haul. How their updates for last few months appear: SOF SOF Solomon SOF Solomon *Lie about how much we care about the game* SOF Solomon SOF *Goes back on their word, harming game and angering players* SOF SOF Solomon SOF.
  24. ^ I agree, the prices are ridiculous. Shouldn't microtransactions be...micro? Seeing there is almost no cost to Jagex after R&D (other than website maintenance etc) for providing them, nothing in that store should be more than a dollar or two.
