Agreed, one of the better ways of making RuneScape better would be to rework everything from the ground up, but the community will definitely cause a problem. Either by throwing a tantrum because the game would have become too different, or by becoming bored due to no actual new content being released in a while. Granted, there is a lot of people who will welcome the change with open arms, and there are also other ways in which people would complain (be it valid complaints or not), but what I mentioned is just two examples.

Wouldn't the friend's chats just congregate into one single world, repeating what is currently happening?

Yeah, I agree. Chances are that the players that play OSRS are older players that played back in 2006-2008, while EoC would have many more younger players that don't have as much school work to do.

I recall Zezima saying that he just randomly happened to be the first to get to 99 Slayer. Just a stroke of luck, basically. I could be wrong though.

Lol, I went to do Warbands for the first time ever, while waiting in Wildy, first thing that happens after 2-3 minutes, someone trying to kill me already. Used Freedom, walked towards the wilderness wall, GG, ~200HP left, nice try though.

Oh, I don't know. But you know what? If you can find me a game that has the same quests, the same lore, the same skills, the same world map, the same characters and the same people playing, I'm totally in.

The reason why Zezima will remain #1 to me? Because, for him, to get a skill to 99, it was "Pick a skill you want to do, then stick to it, persevere until you are at 99." Once he realized that the game was getting progressively easier over time, instead of complaining about it and quitting, he simply stopped playing competitively and started playing for his own enjoyment, sticking to whatever skill he was training (summoning at the time) until he reached max level.

How long will the servers last? Hold on, let me check my crystal ball. ... ... wait, turns out it's a watermelon. Oh well. Can't really know exactly how long the servers will remain populated, but I'm thinking that as long as enough people have an interest in old school PKing, it should remain populated enough. The problem with OSRS is that without F2P, very few new players will come in, while many more will be leaving. Quite a shame really.
