  1. This man has a point. If Jagex would grow a pair of balls and alter the items used in chance games, this problem wouldn't be anywhere near as bad. Instead, like I've said, they've been pissing about and fixing the problem in their usual fashion: aesthetically and with no real effect.
  2. Indeed. I come from a family of law enforcement, and they've seen cases where friends/family vouch for the innocence of a guy charged with robbing a bank, despite a couple dozen witnesses, his face being on several different security cameras, and him being pulled over while driving the van carrying the money in a high speed chase. Family and friends will pretty much always vouch for your innocence, that's why they are your family/friends. Funny because I didn't see Glaco's post until you quoted it - anyways, have your suspicions or not, I know where I stand/stood and I play the game to enjoy myself. Hence the reason I have quit 6-7 times over these 8 years and have at least 6 different accounts, because I got either bored of the game or the style i was playing wanted to take a break or try something new. Botting fulfills neither of these I would assume, and thus I have never really seen the draw to it. If I don't enjoy something I won't do it, seeing as Runescape is a means of relaxation, not stress, for me. I'm not saying you're suspicious, I'm just saying your friends vouching for you doesn't mean squat.
  3. Libertarianism. Non aggression principle. Free market. Anti-statism. I guess if you twisted them to mean something completely different, they'd be suitable reasons.
  4. You have to be 18 to gamble in a casino. Also, gambling companies are about the most regulated industry in existence, with every single aspect heavily regulated to deter crime and protect the gambler against shady casinos. In the United States, running an unlicensed gambling ring is a federal offense.

  6. The automatic mute silences players for two days, correct? That's what I've seen from the posts on Reddit. Consider that a warning shot that Jagex is taking this seriously now.
  7. They did warn you, they've said ever since the first "Say neigh to gambling" update that they don't like gambling clans. Again, I'd support a perma ban for all gambling hosts, but that's just me. I'll judge you however I want, because it's unethical, Jagex clearly doesn't want you doing it and had to hand out punishments to make you stop because despite their constant reminder that they don't like gambling clans and were working on ways to remove them, you still kept pushing your luck, and you don't have any "right" to do jack [bleep] as a paying member because ultimately Jagex owns the game and they have the power to alter the conditions and remove you if you are a detriment. Incredibly, how you play a video game isn't some majestic facet that is invulnerable to criticism. And you can judge how I play all you want. Good luck spinning "Omali logs in for an hour or so every day and might do some fishing or slayer" into something of controversy.
  8. Regardless of whether it is a written rule, Jagex has already well established through small updates and on the forums that they don't like gambling clans, don't support them, and would be removing both the gambling methods and the people using them. The people getting muted because of this have essentially stood on the railroad tracks watching the train come in, and then complained when they were run over. You're not going to find much sympathy from Jagex or players because many of us are absolutely sick and tired of walking into the GE and seeing masses of people standing around going "h/c 2x legit join cc xXxpwnsj00xXx." Even if you weren't part of it, the very basis of your gambling has ruined the game for many people, including myself, and it has spawned nothing but trouble for the community and for Jagex. And I caught crap a few months ago when I said it was Jagex's fault for introducing the dice that sparked this widespread gambling, and now it's the community's fault for making it as bad as it is. So anyone banned/muted for running a gambling clan gets no sympathy from me, because I would have banned you the minute you lit the torch, not wait until the whole [bleep]ing village is burning down like Jagex has a tendency to do.
  9. Having the ending partially spoiled for me didn't stop it from being as powerful as it was.
  10. All around the grand exchange, The hosters chased the Jagex The holsters thought twas all in good fun Ban! Goes the Jagex.
  11. Paint.net is a decent picture editor. I use it to crop/edit/touch up photos for my website.
  12. That is rare, and about as believable as "No, officer, I wasn't selling that man drugs. We're good friends so I gave him cocaine as a gift and he gave me a hundred bucks for my birthday that he missed last month."
  13. Jagex heavily tracks data, which is how they can (claim to) track gold as it funnels through several mule accounts and eventually to the seller and then the buyer. I'm sure they could set up an algorithm to send up a flag when player A trades player B a heavy amount of stuff in one game and then Player B does the same in the other. Then again, Jagex has always been kinda soft on trust trades.
  14. Is that image from Reddit? Because I looked up Mod Mike's profile on Reddit and he never said that.
  15. Typical stereotyping. I've been hosting gambling games for 2 years and have yet to scam a single person. Yes, there are many scam clans, but there are also established clans that condone scamming and will refund any scam that occurs in them. My clan for example. I agree gambling has led to more rwt and such, but no different than stakers selling gp. If you want to see a truly legit clan check out "flowers". Thanks, Vann Like any other trust trade, I could care less about the people who scam in gambling. The widespread use and detrimental nature of gambling in itself, not to mention the Grand Exchange and area outside of it have been successfully shit on by gambling clans in just about every server, is one of the cancers that is killing RuneScape, and if I were heading Jagex I would've put my foot down FAR earlier and completely rid the game of the items people use, and if a person directs someone to IRC to circumvent the lack of in-game gambling items, they'd be perma-muted on the first offense with no appeal.
  16. Playing RS2007 has angered me to today's RuneScape. Not because of the content, not because of Evolution of Combat or any other implemented features. It's because of the tick. In OldScape I can move stuff in my bank and inventory incredibly quickly and with no pause. In the regular RuneScape you can't do this. If you move stuff too fast it'll either snap back into place or it won't be picked up at all. It's crap.
  17. Because Jagex always does upgrades like a construction worker at a college campus, knock down everything you need to work on and then rebuild it one by one so the place is littered with scaffolding and garbage for a year or so. You can see this in RS2007, the dramatic differences in various cities and areas in terms of polish and functionality.
  18. F2P has a way of paying without becoming members, it's called RuneCoins and Squeal, so Jagex does have an incentive to keep them happy. Your argument is old and obsolete.
  19. You'll see more updates coming to free to play because they aren't the coinless purses they used to be. In the old days, free players were either potential subscribers or lost causes. With the introduction of Squeal of Fortune and Solomon's Store, Jagex have added a new tier to the free to play experience: Players who don't want a subscription but still occasionally buy Runecoins or spins (more likely Solomon since Squeal will give members items).
  20. Good. The less real world traders sorry, completely legitimate players, auto-talking sorry, legitimately typing their gambling scams sorry, completely legitimate operations in the Grand Exchange, the better.
  21. "I programmed my bot to appreciate asthetics, and he says the new layout is awful."
  22. I did, but that has more to do with RuneScape being completely nonfunctional on my computer. I can't get the main game running for more than a few minutes before my display driver crashes.
  23. I'm going to take the "We won't discount x-hundred thousand votes just because it didn't meet some arbitrary figure" and they'll implement 500k regardless.
  24. Or they could not. Since the 750,000 tier is gone, it looks like free players aren't going to get in regardless. Jagex has said that if 750k is earned F2P will open up, even after they bumped the rewards for 750k down to 500k. I see. I was not aware that the 750k tier still existed, since Jagex bumped a bunch of stuff down and it's been scrubbed from the website: http://services.runescape.com/m=poll/rs2007-server http://services.runescape.com/m=rswiki/en/Old_School_RuneScape#Frequently_Asked_Questions
