  1. Prices of everything would skyrocket,ESPECIALLY high levelled armor, as it would be the new highest sign of wealth. I myself would be a little miffed, as I worked my butt off earning me green mask. I would, however, have no problem with it were I to get the cash for it even were it the measly 9mil I spent on mine. Actually I wouldn't have that much of a problem with it anyway, since I'd no longer be afraid of losing it when dying (and unlike most I keep it because I like wearing it, not because it rises in price)
  2. Hmmm, I may get flamed for this, but I feel the need to say it nonetheless: My views on scamming have nothing to do with friends. I'm not good friends with many people in rs. If anyone in rs gave me a phat, and said:"Take this and never talk to me again",I'd do it in a heartbeat (there are a total of 2 people who are exeptions to this). My reasons for not scamming is that I object to it morally. If I knew someone who had stolen their phat, and they died, you bet your arse I'd keep it. Otherwise, friend, foe, or perfect stranger, I'd return the rare. Actually I wish someone would trust me enough to lend me something of that much value, but it's not something I'd ever ask of anyone, as I could never ask something of someone that I'd not be willing to do (you'd have to pry my mask from my cold, dead hands :P ), for the same reasons I'd never do it (namely the fact that I don't know how much I really know them, combined with more and more people in rs becomming greedy)
  3. Though I don't know what he's doing, one time i did find a rubber chicken and some leather I hadn't had in my inventory when I logged out...
  4. Heh actually if I can get permission from the OP, and the first post of his rant (the rant got locked, and the first post hidden) I plan on posting a rant on rares which, interestingly enough, has nothing to do with their player-set prices (*gasp*) People often insult the RSOF, but I've seen some posts (mostly in the rants board) that are just as well written as the best of tipit's.
  5. That is THE funniest thing I have ever heard about rs  I'd say have a cookie, but that merits something bigger (BTW I have one of these :P)
  6. I think the guy who posted that video meant that it was not of him...maybe something he just found somewhere on the net and put it on youtube.
  7. Actually one of my goals (well, more like a dream then a goal) is to have someone die with a blue phat, pick up the hat, and get a screeny of me returning it :)
  8. My fav skill has ALWAYS been mining. The last time a skill suprpassed it was when I had 10hp... :P My first week in rs was nothing but mining and smithing.
  9. Bah those "you know you play too much runescape when..." things are only funny if they're true. How many people here have seriously done that happy meal 1mil thing? Thought so. Here are some plausible ones: You know you play too much rs when... You go to an atm and enter your runescape PIN. You find out you have rl plans that can't be broken, and the first thing you think is "Damn now I can't finish getting that mining lvl today" Your first thought is runescape whenever someone mentions coal, iron, mithril, gems imps etc. You see the word phat (pronouonced fat) and read it as p-hat (I'm very guilty of this one) Around christmas you see someone wearing a santa hat irl, and you think "damn I wish I had one of those in rs" (used to be guilty of that one) I put a bunch more in that "You know you...when..." thread in the forum games board.
  10. How many runescappers does it take to change a lightbulb? 50 1 to change the lightbulb, and 49 to complain about how much better it was before.
  11. Waste. Of. Money. You can find any info that book has online for free, most probably on this very forum.
  12. Actually that's not a bad idea... a functionnal holiday drop would be cool.
  13. When you fight someone with melee (be it pvp or pve), your sword never actually touches them... Destroying a bunch of paper hats, masks and santa hats would theoretically crash the economy... When you hit someone with a 2h sword, as opposed to swinging it properly you kinda slap the guy with it... It takes more skill to make a platebody then it does to make a chainbody  Warhammers are flat, as opposed to being wedge-shaped as the real ones were. Oh yeah and you can shoot fireballs at demons, smelt bars with your bare hands etc.
  14. I've stood up for my fair share of newbs. Back when I was powermining for lvl 85, there were lots and lots of them who'd gather the iron I was dropping. No problems here, they're not bothering anyone. Many of them actually ASKED me if they could pick up the iron I was dropping (one of the main reasons I dislike all the people who say that newbs are always rude). That usually put a smile on my face, seeing not only people being polite, but being polite without promting and with nothing in it for them (as they could pick up the ores either way). Now, for some reason, there would always be someone, usually a mage shooting at scorpions, who woud feel the need to yell out: "Lol noob he's powermining obviously he doesn't want the ores" Such people would get a good 5-10 minute lecture from me about the deteriorization of the rs community caused by people like him.
  15. 85 mining (currently 86) and buying a 9 million gp green mask (currently closer to 27m). Both done on f2p.
  16. tadaa! multicolour ftw! Btw the "hey" doesn't flash like the "yel@" does
  17. I noticed this while ranigng lessers today, it's quite amusing how part of their mouths don't move properly  Btw I have already submitted a bug report, but I thought I should share this with you all should jagex fix it. Oh, I wouldn't mind knowing if anyone else has seen this, with other lessers, so if you've seen this elsewhere pics would be appreciated :)
  18. Sorry blaizken, I just don't like yours. IMO telling "you know you've been in rs too long when..." jokes that no one actually does is like telling a russian person a joke only a canadian would understand. You know you play rs too much when: You run out of space on your friends list You run out of space on your ignore list (both common but a VERY large sign that you spend too much time in rs) People start recognizing you. People you've never spoken too before. Random people walk up to you and say "Wow you're still here?" (happened to me several times today while ranging lessers) You know the defence bonuses of armor you're not wearing. At some point, you think to yourself "10k more xp then I'll go to bed" You start recognizing the "regulars" of all your favorite training spots. You know what the maximum number of gp/ an item that can be held in the game is. You know what the max amount of xp you can have in a skill is. You see someone wearing a santa hat, and rs is the first thing that comes to mind. You look forward to christmas, halloween and easter for the holiday drops. You go to burger king, and are reminded of a phat by those paper crowns. You see the word phat (commonly used misspelling of fat, kinda like leetspeak for white suburban kids who think they're from the ghetto, blastin their rap music in their mom's S.U.V., you get the point) and mentally pronounce it as p-hat. At least one of the things on this list made you smile and nod. I'm guilty of all of these (exept the last one) :P
  19. Busba, instead of complaining that the Editor "ignored" your criticism, why don't you buckle down and write an article for us? We always accept well-thought out and well written pieces, so why not try your hand at it? And I'm sorry if you think your comments were ignored. They were not. Just because we didn't jump and change everything to the way you'd like it to be, does not mean that we ignore our users' comments. On the contrary. We take all the comments we receive very seriously indeed, and where we feel it's warranted, we implement changes. We have over 100,000+ users in our Community, and not all of them agree with you. So as I said, if you have an article you'd like to submit, we'd welcome it. Or why don't you suggest some topics? I'm certain the Editor would enjoy receiving some different topic ideas... Very well said  If I didn't know any better I'd swear you were raichase in disguise... Anyway, on the subject of the article: I for one found it to be fairly well written, even though as an f2per very little of it had anything to do with me. I will, however, say this on the subject of quests: The more a quest drives you crazy, the happier you'll be when you beat it. This is true for just about anything you set out to do. I suppose that's just the optimistic way of looking at things, but the article really was an "is the glass half empty or half full?" piece. (Some say the glass is half empty, some say it's half full, I fill the glass while no one's watching so I can watch t.v. in piece :P ) I will agree 100% though that jagex has done an exellent job on the new graphics (though IMO they should have kept ALL the graphical updates for the next year or so hidden, and work on completely re-doing the whole rs graphical system, rs3 anyone? IMO that would have been much cooler). I recently (as in yesterday and the day before) fire blasted my way from 59 to 67 mage, all on lessers (well I started on mossies, but then opted for the tower's lesser). I was very pleased with the new looks. The only problem I have with it is that I also liked the older graphics. Something about lesser demons and moss giants amused me. The new ones look very out of place next to the rest of the rs graphics.
  20. I usually only trust people as much as I know I'm worth to them. A rune smith can make millions off of me per week when i merchant, so i'll gladly lend my smithing friends a few hundred k, I know I'm worth more then that. There are a couple exeptions to this (gave a friend a mil to help a clan bank, clan went belly up, got the money back) but they are few and far between.
  21. Go back and read the third paragraph you quoted, though I'll bring up that point again: Merchants aren't stupid. They know that even if no one wants to buy their phats now, that eventually the price will rise again and people will pay their price. Rares are the only items in the game that go up in value if you hold on to them. If I buy a d chain, and the price drops, I'm going to sell it to cut my losses. If I buy a green phat, and notice the price falls, I'll simply hold on to it. The price will rise back up eventually, and I'd much rather wait a while then lose millions (which I'm sure most merchants would agree with)
  22. I have no problem admitting that I play rs, for 2 reasons: 1)I don't really care what other people say about me (unless it's funny and I get a good chuckle out of it :P ) 2) I'm quite good at making someone look bad. Personally tailored insults are quite handy if someone gets a kick out of mocking you. At leats I don't... Says the man who... Most teenage guys play some sort of video game, and most teengae girls don't know enough about them to judge which games they play, so I see no problem in admitting what I play. Some of my friends will mock me, but in the immortal words of Carlos Mencia: "Friends are later or you're gonna be with you're homeboy/homegirl/friend/whatever and you're gonna be like 'hey dude let's go to 7/11 it's always open' 'like your mom!' (insert wierd laughter that only carlos mencia can do) " *chuckles at Carlos Mencia* Point is that any even remotely close friend you have is going to insult you on a regular basis, it's what friends do(well at least with teenagers). If you're that worried about what the guys are gonna think of you, then you obviously don't hang out with the guys very often.
  23. 1)Rares will NEVER drop in value in long the long term (They have been known to drop slightly after a large raise in price, but this is different) 2)New people DO get into the rares game. If they did not, then the price of rares could not rise. There is no supply and demand if there is no demand, and as such the price could not rise if there weren't new people bringing more money into the rares market. IMO rares will eventually peak at a certain price, but it won't happen any time soon, and when it does, rare prices will REMAIN THE SAME, not come crashing down (Do you really think a merchant is going to sell his phat for less then he bought it for? Not a chance in hell since he's someone in it for the money anyway) One of the unique things about rares is that they're the only items you can hold onto when merchanting. It'd be stupid to hold on to a d chain for a couple months before selling it, but you can do that with a phat. Because of this, if a merchant has a hard time selling a phat, he can simply wait for the economy to catch up to his prices.
  24. No one's taking the editor down. He simply wrote down his oppinions, and we wrote down ours. This is simply hillarious. I'm at 85 mining and I can honestly say it makes better money then merchanting (at least in f2p) As for the other "useless" skils, what purpose does anything you do in runescape serve? I know someone currently levelling their firemaking, simply because he wants a high total level. Nothing wrong with that now is there? Tin Copper Bluerite Iron Mithril Adamantite Runeite. Most people can't even mine all the ores we have (note that other things you mine are not ores) Heh a dragon pickaxe is one of the few things that would make me go p2p :P Dragon is a sign of wealth, not a combat armor. I seriously doubt that you own people with dragon because people don't pk in dragon. And why do rangers and mages need lvl 85 armor? You're already getting a boost at lvl 85 and it comes from your level. Actually, we all know that jagex isn't going to cave in and make lvl 85+ armor (don't correct me on technicallities) Hmmm...see, the thing is, there were people with 99 attack and strength BEFORE the whip came out. You don't NEED a whip to train your strength. You can just use a d hally/scimmy/any other freaking weapon/your bare hands to train your strength. Barrows is not too cheap when you consider repair costs. Also, I'd like to point out that LOTS of people do barrows runs. If too many of a good get into the market, it's value goes down. Dragon is not overpowered, as it's not even as good as barrows and it's many times harder to get. I didn't quite understand that either, it did seem kind of pointless to have the top range and mage prayers above the protection prayers... However, we have PLENTY of prayers, and levelliung it more can make a HUGE difference in combat.
  25. My 2̢̮â¬Å¡Ãââ on better armor: There are 2 reasons why I believe this is useless: 1)As said by many before, higher level armor isn't really an option because of just how strong the current armor/weapons are. 2)This is osmething not covered by others: What happens once you get your lvl 80 armor? <--This is billy. Billy gets tired of his full rune. He decides that he needs full dragon instead. He goes out, and buys full dragon. Guess what Billy goes to do now? EXACTLY what he was doing before he bought his dragon armor. The only difference is that now he's doing it in dragon armor. If he found it boring before, odds are that he'd still find it boring after he gets his dragon stuff. Same can be said about higher levelled amor. If you're getting bored of runescape now, that's not going to magically change just because you're doing it in new armor.
