No. The important thing to remember is that if you reduce the weight of something it is easier to move. Metagaming: Maybe Drake should be asked first.

Dungeoneering Again
(Since Ross told me to regen) Name: Elderflower, The Younger (Prefers Flame Walker Xarax) Background: Elderflower was born to the druid peoples of the Millenium Forest, where she she grew strongly apart from the naturalistic way of life. At first her parents believed this was just teenage rebellion, but at her 18th Birthday, when she was supposed to choose her path, she chose to become a Flame Walker, spreading the 'Blasted Earth' which the druids sort to keep at bay. Within a week she had left the encampment, never to return, heading across the Broken sea to the Howling Steppes, calling to the heavens to grant her the title Flame Walker Xarax. Appearance: Deep red skin, the kind your get if you are in a bath that is too hot. She wears a robe, cut off above the knee, of crimson, with silver trim. She has no hair, shaving fully every day. Her pupils are dark red, the mark of a Flame Walker, with the iris surrounding them a silver with red fleks. Alignment/Personality: Guided only by the will of Jeremiah, the God of the Flame. Traits: -Strength 1 -Skill 5 -Toughness 6 -Charisma 1 -Willpower 13

Something vaguely interesting...In the 1980s, when all the CEOs and Big Bosses of today were getting into bussiness, there was a move away from Wine to Bottled Water. Now, wine, as many of us know, has lots of different types, with a varity of flavours and there is a certain skill in knowing a 'good' wine... Water, on the other hand, has one, maybe two types. Yet you can buy water at $2 a bottle, with practically the same qualities as tap water, which costs less than a penny. So we moved from buying a product to buying 'freedom to choose'. From something real, definable and different, to buying a label. So we now have a crop of CEOs and Executives who's early career decisions involved buying something you could get for free. If you then look at the banking crisis, where you had loans given to people who had no income, and then sold to other banks... You can see a pattern: People were buying something which has no practicable value, at vastly inflated prices... This has been your late night logic session, brought to you by Archimage A, powered, by the BBC.

You can build an extra bay if you have the technology OR You can buying an extra bay if someone else has the technology.
-
Space
Yes, it is wrong. You can build an extra bay, while buying an extra bay requires the seller(IE a country) to have the technology.

I had been thinking of a ship to ship war game thing. You design a ship(space of course) and then battle with other people. The catch being that you could only have 20 things(or something) on the ship.

Ok, what are you spending that on?

I think we should all just take a deep breath and leave Hex to spread his misery... Seriously, it is just making everyone more aggressive and prone to outbursts which will just end with him reporting us for things we said in the heat of the moment. So, before you respond to any more of Hex's posts ask yourself this: Does my responce solve anything? When he posts that he alone fixed Dungeoneering, we all know it isn't true. We don't need to be told again. When he posts that he was wronged during Hegemony, we all know the context. We don't need to go over it. When he posts 'I have come up with this idea' and it is an idea you said earlier, ignore it. We know the truth.

I find it is more often the case that people mis-interpt the rules because they are written by people who already know how the system works, thus don't explain it in enough detail. Or when the rules are based on a traditional understanding which is often subjective in nature. Check. Except, as you know, many of the things people take exception to are not actually against the rules... So reporting something 30 times doesn't help, when PMing someone once could solve the problem immediately. And what flaming is defined as varies from forum to forum...So a newcomer who sees a heated debate may feel the rules are being ignored and feel free to break the rules...Which is not acceptable. As such the defination needs to say LOOK, THIS IS ALLOWED, THIS IS NOT. You ARE allowed to have a heated debate, you ARE NOT allowed to hurt people's feelings intentionally. And yet is persistantly ignored, hence why it has been restated. Its a statement of fact. If you want to join a game I do not have to respond to your posts, therefore I do not have to let you play. Anything else would be akin to slavery... Check, it was only there to reinforce that the Moderator AND Player have responsibilities. Check. It might as well be removed then...

Did anyone except you say thats what it was? I am pretty sure I said: It is just a 'These are the people who agreed to it, this isn't what one person thinks.' Its also a proven fact that people who try to put up shelves without instructions get it wrong more often.

Well this was my quandry...Obviously the people need to agree to these guidelines, otherwise they are pointless and will simply be ignored, meaning new users won't be helped by following them. At the same time I did mention that people could be added by a majority vote, and could be removed only after a month of inactivity...and would require someone to say 'I think they should be removed'. If you are only showing up once every month and a half then I don't see how you can partake in a proper roleplay? If said person then wanted to rejoin they could with a simple vote...taking one, maybe two days. But ultimately 9. doesn't need to be included. Perhaps a compact version of the rules could be drafted with the extended version in hide tags. Since many of these issues have been outstanding for some months and it would be good to get concensus before they rear up again. Redraft: (I am rubbish at formatting so feel free to add lists and such)

I don't want to meet people who are going to turn up for five seconds, post 'OMG WALL OF TEXT' after reading one opening post and then disappear. The rules should be written in the same style as the rest of the Tavern...and what people who have joined the Tavern have actually said is that they don't know what is going on most of the time. If you want a fluffy rule system to attract people then you could just post 'All Tip It Rules Apply'; it would be completely uninformative and pointless, but easy to read and unintimidating. And personally, I don't give two stuffs about attracting or repelling new people, if people want to join, great, if they don't, I won't know about it because they won't post.

Wyvern, it sounds good on paper but when it came to actually doing it which games would be included? People are often quick to believe that their game is the best ever and dismiss everyone else's. Hegemony is a shining example of the Tavern's History and something that we all can agree deserves a special place. People already do it. I disagree. The suggestion is either ignored in game or it becomes a discussion point, which is off topic. It also makes a moderator's life more difficult. I disagree. It gives people an option they may not have considered. I disagree. If a moderator doesn't want someone to play a game then they can ignore them, any other rule wouldn't work. It fits with the general style. Then why not include it? Its more to cover: Player: 'I shoot my guns at the UN' Mod: 'You are arrested' Player: 'OMG! THE MOD HATES ME' Not really, these are the rules(or some redraft of them) which the tavern agrees to follow...It is only fair that newcomers should read and respect those rules if they are going to post here.

1. I will let Rocco answer that. 2. 3. In your own words: 4. http://forum.tip.it/topic/277722-official-quit/ I am not annoyed that you left and came back...I am annoyed that you made a thread stating that you quit and then you came back... 5. Also: You can't always have what you want. You claim that you are free to post constantly that you should have what you want, but other people are not allowed to have what they want. 6. Mather sums this up best:

Archimage has been kicked out of the computer room (Boo) and is now operating out of the Cat Room (...), using a chest of drawers as the base with the laptop in one of the drawers(Prevents overheating and I don't like Laptops). Of course Archimage will have the last laugh as the Computer room is now stripped of its Flat Monitor, USB Mouse and Keyboard, and Headphones. In its place is a PS/2 Mouse and Keyboard(With way to many functions), a cathodic ray tube Monitor and no speakers. Also, Archimage currently has an obession with the word 'Practicable'. Nah, it just didn't do it for me...Posting what I am doing and thinking just isn't fun.

Hey all, all puzzle cards have been updated, as has the website. Also, brace for the 2090-1 Update. The Swiss Habitation fleet safely arrived at Planitia, with no sign of pursuit or interception by any other power. Norway has announced a new type of tree, designed specifically to combat the effects of global warming and has begun planting them all over their country. Norway has continued to experiment with cutting edge technology, most notably the wormhole gun. America has produced the first Heavy Destroyer at Station Alpha, the USS Enterprise. The USS Enterprise is a significant improvement over older designs, sporting around a third extra space with 50% more weaponry. The USS Enterprise was named after the main ship in the 20th Century Computer Game 'Space Viking' and is set to be the first National Ship to go beyond the Solar System. Russia resumed its war with China and crushed the final defensive lines, removing China to Central Africa. The Argus Array has detected faint emissions coming from the Arch star system, it is assumed that these are radio messages from the Descarans. Jen Sonla, crew member of the ISS Unity has been arrested after she attempted to mine ore without a permit. Her capture was part of a joint operation between America, Russia and Britain, largely expedited by her willingness to give herself up. The Russian Second Fleet has clashed with the American Third Fleet just off Jupiter. The American Third Fleet, consisting of three escorts and two destroyers, had been running patrols in Satan's Ring, attempting to preserve their natural wonder against resource hungry miners. The Russian Second Fleet, consisting of five escorts, one destroyer and three transport vessels, had been on a resupply mission to the Norwegians orbiting Triton. Reports of who fired first are unclear, but it seems that the first casualty was the American Escort Alberto which was hit squarely in the Bridge by two Torpedoes, fired from the Russian Escorts Politz and Gronzi. The Politz was the next to be destroyed, being hit by an hunk of deck plating, from the destroyed Alberto, thrown by the Tractor Beam on the USS Kingsley. Within a few minutes the majority of ships were crippled, with the Russian Destroyer, Lenin, and the other two American Escorts, Colorado and Nixon being destroyed before the boarding stage could commence. The American Destroyers, Utah and Cleveland docked with the Russian Transport Vessel Magnitogorsk, while the Russian Escorts vied for position, eventually the Doser and Marx docked with the Utah and Cleveland, respectively, the Gronzi and Magon withdrawing to guard the other two transport vessels. The Americans were armed with personal deflector shields, level 18, and Meson Compressors, level 9, against the Russians, armed with Phase Compression Rifles, level 14 and Fusion Grenades, level 4. The Russians had a numerical superiority of six to five. The Americans on the Utah gained the advantage to begin with, using automated turret systems to attack the boarding Russian without risking their own personal, forcing the Doser to bring in an armed Fusion Torpedo and fire it down the corridor. The Americans, anticipating such a counter, had stationed their forces away from the blast zone and rigged emergency forcefields to contain the damage. The two sides then began corridor crawling, with the Russians gaining an early advantage when they split the American force by capturing a key junction and then having Russian personal from the Magnitogorsk help form a pincer against half the American forces. As half of their troops were slaughtered, the other half retreated to their fall back positions, providing stiff resistance for another seven minutes before being overcome. On the Cleveland the Americans were far less prepared, since they had a slightly larger garrison to make up for their substandard automated defences. It was also decided that they alone should board the Magnitogorsk while the Utah soaked up the Russian Offensive. When the Russian forces from the Marx boarded they found light automated defences and a sparsely defended corridor network. Within the first minute of the offensive the Cleveland realised that the situation was hopeless and began the five minute destruct sequence. The Russians continued to push on though, quickly breaking the back of the American resistance and deactivating the self-destruct system. The Magnitogorsk, while not crewed with fighters, put up a good defence, using the on-board transporters and Fusion Grenades to great effect, annihilating the American attack force with ease. As the battle drew to a close the Terran First Fleet, consisting of five Destroyers and six Escorts, arrived asking what had happened. On Earth American hostility over the Russian attack on the Third Fleet, and Russian hostility over the American attack on the Second Fleet boiled over into a pitched battle in Alaska, cut short by the American use of Orbitally Reflected Particle Cannons. The Terran Federation, Britain and the Australian Commonwealth signed mutual non-interference pacts and stated that, if a war erupted it would be on American and Russian Soil. South America, sided with Russia against their traditional enemy. Tensions then began to cool between America and Russia as leaked Swiss sensor scans showed that a Terran Ship, inside the First Fleet, had cloaked during the time when the opening shots were fired. The Terran Federation stated that the Sensor Scans were fabricated to inflame a war against the Terran Federation. The United Nations then announced that America was launching a full scale invasion of Russia. Which America vehemently denied. Russia then launched a massive Nuclear Strike against America, which entirely bypassed the American countermeasures due to a communications failure within the American Security Network. Within minutes key cities such as Detroit, Washington and Kansas were irradiated beyond recognition. Russia, aghast at it own success, especially against an enemy which was not in the midst of a invasion, was spurred into a follow-up invasion by South America, which launched its own major invasion through Central America and the Caribbean. Within two weeks the United States of America, with the notable exception of California, has been subsumed by the Russian Bear and South American Jackal. California had the fortune of being opposite from Alaska, the Russian Landing zones, Florida, the South American Target and Washington DC, the Russian Target. When Russia and South America finally prepared to turn their full attention against California, the remains of the American Defence Net had recovered and a significant level of resistance was offered. Russia, bloated on easy success, quickly signed a peace treaty to preserve the tenuous status it holds presently. South America followed suit. With the balance on Earth shifted decisively, and unexpectedly, towards Russia, it became painfully apparent that the next few months would either see Russia become the sole inheritor of Earth, or would see Russia collapse under its own weight. Britain has begun an evacuation of citizens to the Eden Halo. Trading its land and ground capacities to Russia after the evacuation is complete. The Huge Queen Elizabeth Shipyard in orbit will, however, remains under British control. Turkey has, unlike every other power, turned its sights to below the Earth, rather than above it, digging a huge complex of tunnels deep below the planet's crust. The Terran Federation is suffering under even greater inner chaos than before, with French Nationalists taking to the streets in an effort to restore France to a sovereign state, completely oblivious to the Russian Giant. The Terran Federation elsewhere is progressively looking more and more like the sick man of Earth, its traditionalist, army swelling, tactics netting nothing but the err of Nationalists everywhere. The collapse of the Federation seems imminent.
