Half of his comments were sarcastic, humourous jokes which were quite spammy in their nature. So is Bubsa, but we all love him. True though, Lead was a bit eccentric but every forum needs someone like that, a friendly figure with thousands of posts who spends hours on the forum posting everywhere and everyone knows him :

When I first joined ScapeBoard (this board's predecessor) I saw all the trolls with over 1000 posts as a group of friends (10 or so) that the whole board idolized and wanted to be. Kinda like the popular kids table in a middle school cafeteria  When I eventually became one of those "well known posters" on ScapeBoard I only had 400 some posts but it seemed everyone knew me and we all talked on MSN. By the time I had 1500, then 3000 posts I had over 40 people on MSN and we were, like I imagined, a tight nit group. It was wierd though because there we so many of us, and we were all friends: rsn_Lead, Vas, Dusqi, TopazJewel, SwtKittn, Bubsa, Oergg, runesmithie, Das, pkerdudejr, mad4u689, and over 30 more. Then Scapeboard closed and I, like many others, sort of left. I came back a years later and found this seemingly post-apocalyptic world; everything was different and so many people had left. There were still a few people that I recognized, but mixed in were tons and tons of new people, which at first mad me kinda sad for some reason. It felt like all my old friends were gone and these new people were trying to replace them. As the months passed I posted rarely, but occasionally, and I began to make some new friends and acquaintances. Now, two years later I know a whole new group of people along with the half dozen of the old times still around. It's a great group we have here at tip.it, and I'm glad I came back. Sometimes it seems the new people are all way to young; but I have to remember that I joined when I was only 13, not the 19 I am today. :) We are a close not community, as you can tell from the threads like "What do you think other tipiters are going to be?". We all know each other and all get along (for the most part), keep it up guys \ It's also sad that with school just starting up again and me having a killer semester (Genetics, Quantitative Analysis, Organic Chem II, and Advanced Mechanics of Physics) I won't have much time for posting :|. Well stay strong guys and have fun, I'll see you occasionally on the weekeneds

http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/ ... na/h-9.htm And that's just one example. Not do they only have more military equipment and vehicles than the United States, most of it is even more advanced than the technology the US possesses. I have no idea where you got the claims from. Also, China could very easily invade Taiwan if it wanted to; It's only restrictions are international pressure against itself should it choose to do so. http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/china/navy.htm They have a massive navy, including nuclear submarines, torpedo boats, etc. 1. They have trained nuclear marines 2. They have stealth planes 3. They have aircraft carriers. Ah, I didn't know about the H-9. However those aren't even out yet and they the Chinese are hoping they will be as good as the 20 year old f-117. And I still say their Navy lags behind massively. I don't know where you're getting your info that the Chinese have their own active aircraft carriers. They bought one from Russia but it is nonoperational. They are studying trying to develop their own 40,000 ton one, expected to be built by 2010. The US currently has ten carriers, at 100,000 tons each, with another being built. They also have a new larger and steath carrier being built, with three of those already paid for for and under construction. WikiPedia: Presently worldwide aircraft carriers are capable of carrying about 1250 aircraft. US carriers account for over 1000 of these; the second leading country, France fields around 72 aircraft. So China doesn't have the naval air power. Okay, thats settled. When it comes to other ships like I said they don't have systems as advanced as those on the Aegis Cruisers, and while they may have a few nuclear subs they pale in comparison to the number that the US has. WikiPedia: However, despite these advances, China's newer vessels are still outnumbered by older ones that it has to keep in service out of necessity. Thus the PLAN still lags behind other navies in the region such as the United States Navy, the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force and the Republic of Korea Navy in terms of overall unit quality. Korea? Honestly now, if they "greatly" lag behind the quality of a navy from a country the size of South Korea, I don't think the US has much to worry about... for now

I really don't see the worry about China. They plan to get a chinaman on the moon in 2010. Wow, so there like what, 40 years behind the US? Fact: If China declared war on the tiny island of Taiwan they wouldn't win. Well they wouldn't loose, but it would be a stalemate. China has the man power but technologically it's stone age. They don't have the Patriot missile system, the Aegis Radars, they use aging Jets bought from the USSR in the 70s. They don't have rail guns, they don't have a missile defense system, they don't have a significant amount of special forces. Most notably they don't have - Trained Nuclear submarines - No Stealth Planes - No Aircraft Carriers This isn't the 1200s, more men doesn't mean you can win a war. Better technology does. And as far as military tech goes, China isn't even remotely close to the US. -Russia and Japan? A bit closer. -The European Union? Closer still, but arguable not quite there. -China? Lol. Wake me when they start launching F-22s equivalents and have a fleet of 12 nuclear aircraft carriers. Then I would start thinking they might pose a threat.

Well said Mil. I do believe that most of the people who posted meant "Medal of Honor or similar". After all who is to say a "Medal of Honor" is better then a "Hero of the Soviet Union" or "Victoria's Cross"? There all equal really.

Gah, hard to narrow it down. I'll say two from vastly different genres. Douglas Adams - Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. So random, so classic Tom Clancy - Red Storm Rising. It's a 700 page long nonstop description of how WW3 would act (in 1985) if no one used nukes. It reads like a giant Command and Conquer level but when you read it you need a map of Europe in one hand and a computer with Wikipedia near by so you can look up all the different tanks/jets/Russian ships. :)

Hey thanks. Oh and good idea to think it over, I spent a good 2 hours on a plane ride thinking about it. I was going to save this topic for something special but gave in and posted it sporadically :) Most are given to people after they die doing something that saves others (jumping on a hand grenade that kills you but saves the people around you). But it's possible to get one while still alive, granted its beyond the reach of anyone reading this forum. This short pageabout what 4 WW2 Medal of Honor recipients did to earn their medals is a great read with jaw-dropping acts. Like I said, simply amazing. If you see someone wearing one you immediately think "Holy... What did this guy do to earn that?!"

Emmies look a lot cooler to. The San Fransisco airport has a display about sound and video and at the end are an Oscar and a Emmy for Best Sound. The oscar is smaller and so polished you can barly tell it's a man, looks like a piller of gold with a head. The Emmy on the other hand is huge, over twice as big. It's very intricately carved and that sphere the angel is holding looks unnaturally perfect in shape. Picture

Well said dusqi, people seem to forget that. Poor Colin Powel he fought the entire Bush staff trying for peace, then when he lost that battle he tried to convince the UN, failed horribly, and now is unemployed thinking "I was right... and they fired me."

Let me add to the "Nice guys finish last" discussion. It's true. Simple really, nice guys are polite and usually a bit shy and not only after sex, so they don't bring it up as agressivly. On the other hands the guys that don't care about school, go to parties, and are only looking for sex end up getting it. Part of the reason is a lot of girls are like guys on the topic of sex --they want it and they want it dirty but make no mention of this to anyone. Aggressive guys give this to them and bring it up at parties where everyone drinks, etc. They usually hook up and do there thing while the "nice guy" stays at home and studies. A week later he brings flowers and a poem to the girl's house but she doesn't answer the door because she's off with the guy she slept with at the party. This isn't the case in most relationships but it is why pretty much all the "hot" girls in HS go out with total putzes that have no future in college. Oh and if you think valentines day is bad when you have a gf, imagine how awkward it is if your "kinda dating someone, but not really, but your both kinda more then just friends" I mean, do you buy them something? Would that be saying too much? Do you not buy them a gift? Would that tell them you don't want a relationship? :-s

Hmmm. Move to an African tribe. Kids there have fun and they don't worry about material things even boring stuff like school. :-k

I know what you mean, but look past that. The question was "If your future son/daughter was to get one of these in the future, what would you be the most proud of?" Field doesn't matter, its prestige of having it in your family

An old lady on the subway told me a few years back "Marry for money, have affairs if you want love" :-s

The Nobel Prize. A Pulitzer. An Oscar for best Actor. A Superbowl Ring or a World Cup trophy... There are dozens or awards, trophies, medals, etc that people would kill to own. Own one of these and people look up to you, it's something your family (or country) will be forever proud of. Question is, which one is the the Cr̮̬̉̉me de la cr̮̬̉̉me? The king of all trophies? The common answer is "well it depends... there all completely different!" Yes I know that, but that's not the point. If your future son/daughter was to get one of these in the future, what would you be the most proud of? It was hard for me to choose my top 3, but after a while I pulled it together. My 4th runner up was an Olympic Gold Medal. My top three are as follows: 3.Academy Award (Oscar) - I'm not talking about one of those side ones for Best Sound Editing, I mean a real one. Best Director, Best Actor, something with meaning. The Oscars are the most watched award show in the world and winning one of these brings international lifelong fame. 2. Nobel Prize - The Nobel Prize, over 100 years old. Peace, Medicine, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Literature. Winning one of these tells you that at that moment you are the single most important person in that field. It is a prize that rewards a lifetime of work that benefits humanity. This international and immortal award is so powerful that hearing that you won one would make any man cry. 1.Congressional Medal of Honor Unlike nearly all other awards, having this one shows that you put your very life on the line for your friends and country. It's hard for me to describe the meaning of this medal. I'm sure you have all seen them on TV, movies, etc, and a lot of you are probably baffled he as to why something like this could possibly beat the international Nobel or an Olympic Gold. Well clearly those people haven't seen someone who won it in person. I work as a banquet server part time in the summer and in December. Last year on December 7th there was a formal Veteran's Ball that we were catering, everyone there was over 70 and was a WWII vet. As I was walking with a tray I passed a man in a tuxedo standing next to a table, he had a certain definite aura about him, my neck hairs stood on end and I just stopped walking. He turned and immediately viable was a blue ribbon with a gold star tied tightly to his neck. I had never seen a Medal of Honor before and I previously didn't even know what one looked like, but one look at the thing and I simply just knew. I looked at the man's face, who looked right in my eyes. I had the sudden urge to shake this man's hand but my job didn't allow it so I just said "Sir" and bowed my head a little. He just nodded slightly and I hastily turned away as went back to my duties but couldn't help that both of us got teary eyed from the encounter. Well what about you guys? Top 3 awards?

well... There you go. The PSP has replicas of PS1 games, the DS has new games with a new interface. +1 for the DS from me.

Ouch, I cringed reading that even after I saw it coming. Ears are interesting, unlike nearly all our other sensory organs (skin, tongue, nose, eyes) they can't heal. Well sure parts of them can, such as the surface, and to a lesser extent, the eardrum. But the cilia (tiny hairs) are one of the few things in your body that don't regenerate(and can't be fixed by medicine). You have cilia in two key places in your ear: you ear canal and your cochlea. The latter is a spiral tube that is the heart of you ear. It picks up the motion of the eardrum and inside it is a liquid and tons of cilia, or microscopic hairs. The inner liquid sways with the vibrational motion of the ear and the cilia pick up this motion of the liqiuid and relay it to neves that go the the brain. Point of me telling you this is loud music makes your cochlea move violently and your cilia literally get ripped from their roots. You can't feel this but after each loud session of bass or iPod jam out session you are lossing thousands of these hairs that don't grow back. Your hearing worsens everyday, not only are things quieter but you soon loose the ability to hear high frequencies like the white noise of a TV. Anyway, point of me witting this, is guys, keep that in mind and try to restrain yourself a little bit when jamming out in the car ;). This wasn't a problem in the past, but with MP3 players and quality speakers teenagers are loosing their hearing at an extraordinary rate that they will realize when they turn 30. Wow that was kinda a tangent. Anyway cilia are also found in your ear canal. They clean your ears for you. They act like a conveyor belt and move all your ear wax to outside your ears, so you don't need to use cotton or anything... problem is, after using cotton for a few years you scrape the inside of your ear and with that you loose all your cilia, so once you start manually cleaning your ears, you have to for the rest of your life. Too bad I didn't tell you that sooner huh? Lol.

Burj Al-Arab. Trapical had a link to it in his post. Lol, I was like "yea... I just posted about it 2 posts up..."

Yea, Dubai likes spending its oil money of ludicrous buildings. Well hey, power to them, better then using it to buy weapons and nuclear materials right? Kind of old news, but still hilarious how they built this hotel, that is rated seven stars out of a possible five. Lol, they didn't even say 6 stars our of 5, no they went all the way to seven. Take that Hilton. http://www.funlol.com/funpages/seven-star-hotel.html

Was'nt that on the News like 2 years ago? Thats when i heard of it. :-w Most people first heard about El Nino as a word and phenomena around the late 1990s. El Nino (and La Nina) was temporary anyway, and it went away after a few years. (But people still use the term El Nỉ̮̱̉o isn't a one time thing. It happens every 5-7 years. It has been doing so for over 300 years. 1993, 2000, and 2006 are all years that that magic number has fallen on.

There in-game cheats, you have to buy them after you unlock them by getting red bricks.
-
Oh man I love that game! Battle of Hoth is wicked fun if you play it after a long break of not playing the game. I have every 97 gold bricks and every cheat. The "x2, x4, x10, etc" score multipliers are really hard to get but GET THEM. They all add to each other so right now I have like "x3840" on at all times. Once I walked into a level and touched a single silver stud, I got the entire screw filled up. Lol.

Global warming makes the entire world warmed by a fraction of a degree every few years. It doesn't make it 50 degrees warmer in the midwest all of a sudden El Nino is the cause, it moves the jet stream north which blocks Canada's polar air from moving further south. Doesn't anyone watch the news anymore?

Wow, so much negativity. I'll address a few points: Your ears would pop! - Two replies "so what?" and "not if you equalize". The 'so what' reply is simple, ear popping isn't painful and perfectly natural; thats why it happens, your body intentially fixes the pressure for you. But if you don't like the feeling, equalize the pressure yourself. Funny thing really, I literally just finished my PADI Scuba Diver registration course, and a good chuck of it deal with pressure. There are two ways to equal pressure in your ears intentially. 1 - Pinch your nose and try to blow out of it until you feel it in both ears. 2 - Swallow while wiggling your jaw side to side. This second one is harder to explain but you should feel/hear a weird sound in your ears, this is your pathway opening up and allowing air to leave/enter your inner ear. Do one/both of these in the elevator and you'll be fine. You can go up to 35,000 feet without trouble in an unpressurized craft by doing the above. Terrorists - The building is wider then the Sears Tower. It would take a nuke to topple the thing. Wind - Whats with all the jet stream talk guys? I may be wrong about this but isn't the Jet stream in the tropopause? You know, at like 28,000 feet? We're under 10,000 here. :| Granted, building it would suck with winds as fast as they are up there, but once its built the cone shape of the thing would help with the wind quite a bit. You could also fine a city that doesn't have as many high altitude winds. Building Materials/cost - Steal wouldn't work. Titanium might, but thats $100 a pound if you buy it in bulk... The WTC used 200,000 tons of steel. Thats 400,000,000 pounds. Now how much bigger is this building of yours? Using photoshop I determined that the WTC has ~936 pixels and your cone has 75,000. So your building is ~80x as big. 80 x 400,000,000 pounds = 32 billions pounds of Titanium... over twice the world's entire output -.- I don't even know if Titanium I-Beams are strong enough for that weight. And you certainly can't use concrete as a base foundation in the basement, it would turn to power under that weight. Hmm, well the future will hopefully hold some advances to all that. Other Problems - Find a crane that can build this thing. As it is only like 3 cranes were ever made for buildings over 90 stories tall. They break them down and ship them were needed and only half a dozen people are trained to use them and they travel with the cranes. - Pumping water to the top floor wouldn't be fun, I'll tell you that. Oh and once its built could you imagine the property tax on that thing? What is it in cities, 9% of the building's value! : In conclusions, hmm what if you built it as a diamond... 500 floors above grond, 500 floors underground...

have to do with your qualifications? Simply put, I asked three of them the question and included their answers in my past posts. It's hard to put into words, thankfully at the last minite I found this very handy image courtesy of Merck. Now from what I gather the nostril is one of the two openings on the exterior. The nose doesn't have the same thing in the back. It's not like the nasal cavity is just a tube with two more holes in the end that go to the throat. Note how in the above diagram there really aren't simply two small holes in the back of the nose. You may argue that the rear openings are such holes, but compare their size and shape to the size of the two nostrils located on the tip of the nose. As for fish? Most modern fish have four nostrils, two on each side of their heads. Water flows through the front nostril into a little sac that holds the organs of smell and then out through the back nostril. So the fish can't breathe through its nose. In my opinion their noses aren't even really related to our human noses: they have these separate sacs under their skin with chemical receptors on it, we have cilia in our sinuses that take partials out of the air as we breath through our noses. It's like comparing fins to arms, you can't. :?

15 min.....haha youve obviousely never taken any type of medical or anatomy class. you would have known you have four if you had...you can tell just by looking at a skull even Christ, this is why I hate the internet. The reason I spent 15 minutes was trying to find a good reputable site that explains the nose in layman's terms so I can link to it here so others can read it. Never taken a anatomy class? I'm a Biology major with 3 semesters of Comparative Vertebrae Anatomy under my belt and am currently enrolled in a Gross Anatomy course with a lab that has 4 students per cadaver. I'm a T.A. of General Micro and Macro biology here at the college and have been studying the material for years in preparation for the MCAT. My mom is a nurse, my dad is a surgeon, and both my brothers and enrolled in Medical School (a M2 at the University of Wisconsin, and a M1 at the University of Warsaw). I welcome debates about technicalities or minor definitions but I'm sorry; a personal flaw of mine does not able me to put up with someone, probably some high schooler in AP Bio, insulting me in such a unfounded manner. Ahem* now back to the subject, I will quote from Gray's Anatomy (which I assume you all know is a medical text, I'm not referring to the show). Granted this isn't written in layman's terms meant for a Runescape board but it appears a few other people here claim to know this material so they should be able to read the following and deduce, as I have, my reasonings. You have a duct from your nose into your skull, and a multitude of internal ones such as the one from your eyes to your nose (partially explaining why when you sometimes have a bad cold you eyes are affected). If anyone here is interested in a career in medicine and has questions, or simply wishes to intelligibly debate this material further in depth then what I have written here, I welcome a pm or an email at [email protected]
