  1. This is interesting about the 2nd largest star pictured in the first post, Betelgeuse: Astronomers predict that Betelgeuse will ultimately undergo a type II supernova explosion. Betelgeuse would brighten at least 10,000 times as a supernova, causing it to shine with the luminosity of a full Moon (mv = -12.5). This would likely last for several months. It would look like a brilliant point, the brightness of a full Moon with the color of an incandescent bulb at night, and easily visible in daylight. After that period it would gradually diminish until after some months or years it would disappear from naked eye view. Then Orion's left shoulder would vanish forever.
  2. By the way, and I the only one really craving to play Spore right now? I mean in the Civilization stage when you get to space you can click on any or the stars you see and you will go there. There are suposed to be like 100 million planets you can visit, each one designed by another player somewhere and now a copy of it is under CPU control. Oh Maxis, why did you you tempt us with the E3 video when its not released until July 2007!
  3. Wow, all this talk about how big the galaxy is, and then knowing the Universe contains trillions of galexies!!! Its insane!! Oh and Popular Science now believes there is more then one universe. Several in fact. They predict there are actually around 10^500 universies just as big or bigger then ours. And they all have their own laws of physics. ...*head explodes*
  4. Well there was that senior prank... Other then that some fune things I've done at college include - Go for a 2 mile run with some friends at 3am when it was snowing last week and none of us had flashlights... or jackets. - Went to the Science building at 1am and played MarioKart on a 100inch projector used for powerpoints in lecture - Had a bokken stick fight (bokken=katanas made of hardwood) in the coutyard of our dorm at ~2am Yea, me likes college
  5. Current games like Guitar Hero have in the options menu a thing that lefties can select and it makes the game adjust accordingly so.
  6. Indeed, only one thing can be said to that news: :D
  7. You guys seriously owe me a cookie or something... Nintendo's restricted site for the Press - http://Press.Nintendo.com/wiipreview username - guest Password - nintendo :-w
  8. That would be pretty fun, but I don't want to have to sit out there for 10 hours. On a similar note, if I were to preorder, what's a good store to preorder from? (I think I have the choice of EBGames/Gamestop, Target, Walmart, Best Buy, and Circuit City in my area...) Good question, my room-mate is planning to preorder from Amazon.com, but I don't know his reasons. Anyone else have any thoughts?
  9. Not sure about the Wal-Mart scenario but my roomate was outside BestBuy for the 360 lauch. He said the store opened at 8am and he got there at like 10pm. He was 8th in line and by 6am there were about 40 people in line (the store only had 12 systems). Anyway, he said it was fun. Everyone brought chairs and lots of blankets and hot choclate and they all sat around talking about games and playing DS.
  10. Oh...snap. I wasn't going to camp outside of WalMart/BestBuy but then I saw that new RedSteel trailer... Wow. I am sold, hook, line and sinker. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghMBHjA3pms
  11. On a vaugly related note have you people seen this video? http://www.gameklip.com/v/1336/ I never realized just how much they exagerated the PS3's potential.
  12. 179 British pounds = 335 U.S. dollars That's not very fair :/
  13. I personally love the fact that Sony is releasing with 400,000 units next to the Wii's 4 million. :-w Its obvious Sony isn't ready to release the system but it simply can't push the date back anymore. Oh and http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=2568

  16. Spiffy. Before I was born I got an ultra-sound and it showed I was female so my parents decided to name me Jessica. Then I was born and it was noted that I was a male. :-s Pity. Anyway, Guys: Any Roman name "Desimus, Salantath, Archaious (pronounced "Arr-kay-ous") How sweet would it be to have that name? Girls: Rachel.

    Loituma

Without further ado, I am of course talking about This This has been posted on the forums before but this thread isn't as much about the song as it is about it's side effects. Alright so college starts up and 1 week into it crazy crazies are already afoot in my dorm. I live with 3 other guys in a pretty sweet 3-room dorm and two days ago just as I found "A million thank-you's" one of my room-mates found the pure-awesomeness I linked to above. Known as Loituma it's a repetitive flash that has a clip of a Finnish song "Leva's Polka" set to some anime girl spinning a leek... don't ask. Anyway he had this thing running for like 30 seconds and I walk over with the other 3 guys and say "Lol, what̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s that?" Then we just sit there watching it, mesmerized for like 2 minutes. Then as we leave it playing in the backround we read the comments about it on that site. Someone posted "the ending is awesome" and even though we all knew it never ended we agreed to leave it on for 30 min to see if it does end. It doesn't of course ;). But as we sat there we learned the first of many powers this song possesses: It slows down time. Seriously, it does, trust me. As the minutes were literally crawling by, we started watching the "thank you" counter I also mentioned above. Someone said "I wonder what happens when it gets to a million..." and then we also decided, just for kicks, to find out. Finally, one of us has the brilliant idea and says "Let̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s leave the song on until we get to a million." It was 11pm but we all agreed and fell asleep with this song playing from one side of the room and the thank you counter counting aloud on the other side. \ I woke up extremely refreshed the next morning 30 minutes before my alarm clock went off. I brushed my teeth tapping my feet to the tune and the noticed the others were also all awake. We had 40 minutes before classes started (which means 65 minutes since the song was playing) and we took advantage of the time to eat a large breakfast. That̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s when we all noticed something else: Food tastes better when Loituma is playing in the backround. The counter was only at like 350,000 thousand so we all left for class and left them both running. In between each class it was very refreshing to come back to the room and hear the song playing before I even unlocked the door. And at 10pm that day the counter reached a million and we shut them both off. Then the four of us just sat there in silence, not really sure what to do. About 30 seconds later someone started the song again and then we all smiled and went back to out homework, all of us noting that Loituma makes homework gets done 3x as fast. Seriously.
  18. Yeah, short hair gives you coooooooooooties :-w Anyway, short hair can be great, like on a certain topic starter :3> Care to share what you mean there? :P I like emo short. ;) He saw a picture of me with my new haircut heh. Breaking your own 'no picutures' rule there Forsaken?
  19. Thing I see about short hair is really hot girls with pretty faces can do it and it brings out their face even more so everyone notices it. Example: Halle Berry. Problem is, in my opinion, only like 1% of girls are hot enouph to really pull it off. Unfortunatly, as I state judging on the dozen or so of my felmale classmates that have short hair, they seem to do it for conviniance and think they will look like Halle Berry or simular if they do. Well, sorry to say, short hair doesn't make you look instantly hotter if you aren't so already.
  20. Wow, I never had so many people agree with me in one thread before :) Overture18, I agree that is a good look for that face
  21. Agreed, I love the wave in long brown hair ^_^
  22. I am a Biology major so not nessesarily suposed to be a believer in such things, but I do take note in how everything seemingly works together without any real reason. There is something more to life then the physical, and I don't think we will ever know what that something is.
  23. Hair an inch long = looks butch to me, no other way to put it Hair to the ears = No offence to the girls out there, but it seems like half of girls now have this due to convenience. Unfortunately it seems only like 20% can pull it off and still looks sexy. The rest look like this: Hair to the shoulders = Can't really go wrong, to me this length looks good on everyone but if you hair is the typical brown and you do this without highlights or something it looks really plain. Hair to the base of the shoulder blade = I have always liked this style on my lady friends. It's really feminine and if its silky smooth guys find it irresistible. ;) Hair longer then that... = Looks medieval. <1% of girls can pull this off and look fantastic/exotic. The other 99% just look like Russian peasants from the 1800s. -.- [Admin Edit: You cannot place peoples rl images in threads ~Alduron]
  24. I actually agree with you on this one, it would be an excellent move on their part to re-do the game in secret and announce it like 1 week before the ps3 came out. FF7 has countless hundreds of millions of fans around the world and a remake would make the ps3 sell like hotcakes. ...however, as un-fanboyish as I can put this, the Sony-Square alliance is infact coming apart. Where Sony once had rights to the entire SquareEnix compnay, now Nintendo is slowly piece by piece buying it back from it's rival. As of now Nintendo re-acquired the lisence to Final Fantasies I, II, and VI. It owns the "Crystal Chronicals" timeline of Final Fantasy, and it full out bought the entire Final Fantasy Tactics license from Sony. Don't get me wrong, I will bet my life thrice over that if FF7 is re-released it will go on the PS3 and not the Wii or 360. However Final Fantasy lovers should heed in mind that Sony won't be the forever producer of the game series.
  25. Yea, they aren't making any FF7 remake. Thanks for finding the links Anesthesia, saved me a good 5 minites \
