  1. MP3 players a very useful in college and beyond, I recommend having one if you have over 1 Gig of songs. Be sure to look at different brands too.
  2. Not to belive everything you hear I always used to agree with all my families views on other religions, politics, and things in general. In college I really learned a lot about different life styles and now have to hold back from starting arguments with people I used to agree with. Also after a rigorous college Biology course I notice half of marketing is complete lies, 2 examples that piss me off: For example it's practically impossible to loose more then half a pound of fat a day, thats even more true if you try to do so for more than one days in a row; yet literally dozens of companies have people that "lost 15 pounds in 3 week" In Bayer commercials it shows Tylenol and Alive and says "these pain relievers won't do a thing if you have a heart attack. Only Genuine BAYER will save your life if you have heart trouble. What a bunch of misleading bull. Yes, Tylenol won't do anything because its not aspirin, its ibuprofen. Aspirin can save you, but the 5 cent aspirin at Target will do the exact same thing as the $20 a box Bayer. Makes me what to beat the crap out of the snobby over rich marketers at Bayer who make old people think they will die if they don't shell out there Social Security checks for a overpriced chemical that hasn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t changed at all since the 1700s (At least Pfizer and the other drug companies use their profit pay off their R&D) Phew, that was a nice rant.
  3. Ooooo.... pretty... Thanks :) Unfortunatly it runs a little slow for me, but its still awesome. Oh, and no, you can't save
  4. I think iPods are pretty decent, but I hate the people that blindly buy them without even glancing at the competition. Personally I'm happy with my 5Gig Zen Micro.
  5. True, I am not exactly what one would call "focused on the task at hand" when I am studying, and out Gen Bio prof is insane. Our tests are on 150+ pages and all his questions are so specific its not even funny. For example on the test covering Glycolisis, Krebs, photosynthesis, and enzymes we had the question: "How many hydrogens are needed to make 72 ATP in a pony?" First you have to know all of the metabolism, then count the ATP released, calculate how many Glucose needs to be burned, add in all the Hydrogens used in ADP and NADH, etc, etc. Anyway, I know physics is going to suck, but luckily our orgo prof is a really enjoyable guy, or so I hear; I'm only a 2nd semester freashmen. Both my brothers are seniors attempting to get in Med School as well. One got accepted to Madison with a 30 MCAT, the other didn't get in anywhere with his 28 :/ I'm really hoping for atleast a 29 and planning to apply to Northwestern, Madison, and Case Western.
  6. There isn't really anything to get, because it isn't really a "game" Its like MSPaint, you can draw lines and play around with the colors to amuse yourself or if you're creative you will make little projects using the materials given to you
  7. New slug-killer machine! Oil overflows, falls, hits the burning wax, explodes the oil, flames lick up setting wax wick ablaze, plant catches, bottom trail removes wax line and it starts to rain on the slug as he grows slowly, top line is a fuse to a mixture that will burn letting a hail of sand to dissolve the water producers and then a tidal wave of salt explodes the slug ^_^
  8. Awesome Smavey, I wanna try that now ^_^ I have also made tons of wierd devices, I need to start taking screenies :)
  9. People gets scores like that. Why can't he be one of them? Then again there was the SW_Raichu case...
  10. Congratulations, that̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s quite an achievement. To those who question the difficulty of getting in, I actually work for admissions at my college. I enter applications and am part of a rotating group of student reps that sits on the admission committee. I am a 1/5 say on who is accepted to St. Norbert college ;) Anyway, our average ACT is 26 and GPA is 3.5 First we look at is the ACT, teachers will tell you ACT/SAT doesn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t matter but that̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s really BS, a good ACT will get you accepted faster then a few extra hours of community service or a difficult class schedule. - If it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s 18 or below you are denied, it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s that simple. - 19-22 is borderline we look at community service and the GPA (it better be high) - If you get a 23-26 we look at the GPA; if you̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢re at or above average you get in, if your not you better have a lot of AP classes or be in a lot of sports. - If it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s above 27 you are pretty much accepted. Essays are honestly not read as often as they are hyped up to be, at least not in my college. I suppose they are like tie breakers but I read them for amusement more then anything. ^_^ In my experience if I come across someone and ask my boss if he thinks they have a chance of getting in he says ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬Åwhats the ACT̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ
  11. Seven thousand. More honestly, four times a week for my in-the-dorm exersise I do 3 1/2 minutes of sit ups and 2 minites of continuous push ups. Its a great exersise, its 7 minites and in a year you have toned abs and a decent upper body/biceps/triceps. You don't need a gym or any equipment for that matter ;) On topic, I never really count my push ups, I listen to music instead. I imagine I could manage 70 or so if I really went for quanity.
  12. Motherload is an awesome game 8) Merry Christmas to you to :) It would be fun if this was the start of a tradition where on Christmas Day everyone posts something small that they found on the net that they enjoy.
  13. There isn't really a point you just, as said above, screw around and try stuff. You can also make cool looking scences with the flammable walls 'CERA'
  14. The thing is a "slug" I guess that can be turned off, it eats water t grow and is killed by salt. The sand puts out fires and eats away at 'spouts', which can be made and they produce additional water.'
  15. Merrry Christmas everyone. I fiqure all of us can enjoy this Java game... thing that I came across on fark.com http://ishi.blog2.fc2.com/blog-entry-158.html Scroll to the bottom of that page to find the thingy. At first glance there are 4 liquids (water/oil/sand/salt) )that stream down and you can watch the physics as you draw lines to move them/collect them. Once you enjoy that, play with the options on the bottom. You can make plants (that suck up all the water they touch) create fire (that burns oild and plants) as well as other options. I seriosuly just spent 4 hours putzing around trying things. ^_^
  16. If you sleep 6-8 hours everyone has at least 6 full dreams every night  You just can't remember the first 5, and you can only recall the last one if you wake up during it. Fun experiment: Get 6 watches and set them to go 90 minites apart with the first starting 90 minites after you fall asleep. Have a pencil and paper/tape recorder next to youe bed. Fall asleep. You will be rudly awakened in the midst of dream #1 and it will be clear in your head, write a sentance or two about it and fall beck asleep (should be easy to do so if you just woke up in REM, or dream state) Repeat until morning and write down your last dream then look over the list. Half the time you won't even remember writting down what you just wrote anything and the most of the time you will have no recollection of them untill you read what you wrote then it will suddenly hit you. :) Something easier that I do is whenever I have a cool dream I record my 45 seconds description and save it as a WAV file in a hidden folder on my computer with the date. I now have every cool dream of the last 4 years (55 or so) and its wierd to listen to them since 90% I completly forgot I had.
  17. I'm assuming you guys have heard of jibjab.com, they make about one flash a year thats well put together and has a familar song as the melody. Anyway they just released there latest one "2-0-5". Its entertaining enouph to be worth 2 minites of your time
  18. Yea, I also have that song; they play it in the 1st movie when Neo is shown a simulator that he thinks is the Matrix, he is walking past the huge crowd and startes staring at the Lady in Red. Anyway cool vid I love the wall jumping. Also, I speak sparce Russian but the sound quality isn't exactly high, and I'm not exactly perfect. Sorry
  19. Its so hard to say... even if you look at a great series, whats better the original to the clearly more entertaining sequel? For example Goldeneye is the precurser to just about every fps on the consols but those who have played the sequel, the original Perfect Dark, seem to agree that that game vastly improved on the concecpt while keeping the same controls and multiplayer levels. Which game is better? Then you have to look at the genres; is Mortal Combat better then Sim City 2000? :? Anyway here are my favorite in their genres: Adventure - Orcarina of Time FPS - Goldeneye/Perfect Dark RPG - FFVII Stategy - Red Alert 1 1st Person puzzle - Myst/Lighthouse Pure Multiplayer - SMB Melee Overall I'm afraid I would have to say Goldeneye, but its close
  20. Thank you ImageShack for the hosting.
  21. Correct me if I'm wrong but I belive its federal law to register for the draft when you turn 18 in the US. By register I mean you get a card in the mail and you fill out your birthday and SS# so if there is a draft they know you excist. Also if they call, as they did to me, jsut say that you are in college/you have just been accepted to college and your parents can afford to pay everything for you (even if thats not the case) No one in their right mind would try and persue someone to leave a college that there not paying for to go fight in Iraq.
  22. Dream house? Something modern in a nice community. Perhaps lake front. Dream Job? Physician. You can't complain about the money  and in reality you save someone's life everyday. I mean seriosuly, how can you beat that?
  23. indy500fan - I once again stand corrected. Gamefaqs doesn't lie  I was decieved, Gamespot and PcGaming only listed that 2nd date. VOV - Well aparently PD simply perfected them all. Also does Tribes really have everything listed? Anyway this is all really besides the point. The focus of this thread was backround on Rare and what people think of the new PD.
  24. At first I thougt my sources that gave me that list were terribly wrong, but I did a little research on Gamespot, quite possibly the largest game site on the net. Rouge Spear (DC) - Release Date: Nov 21, 2000 Unreal Tournament (PC) - Release Date: Oct 25, 2000 Perfect Dark - Release Date: June 30, 2000 Hmm, lets see here... Perfect Dark came out before both... So tell me, why again is everyone yelling that UT had Capture the Flag and bots? Last time I checked now practically every fps has those. My point was PD had them first. What's your point? (forgive me if my data is wrong, I only checked two sites) EDIT* Read the next post
  25. I stand corrected on that base, alas I never played Unreal Tour. Sorry for excluding it. If Microsoft didn't buy Rare most of the programmers wouldn't have left. That̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s the point I'm trying to get across here. If this merger never happened Rare would not only have continued producing games for Nintendo, but the games would actually be good ;) Uh... thanks for restating what I just said...? :? I didn't conquer it yet but its a prequel and Joanna first met Elvis in the middle of the original. Perhaps he is seen with another character sometime though? We can only hope. Also, since no one really seems to know what this game is even about I'll post a small plot summary from what I gather. Possible Spoliers -Joanna, her dad, and some black chick are bounty hunters fighting against the private armies of large corporations like dataDyne. -After rescuing a scientist he downloads some information into Joanna's dad's head and soon everyone wants him dead or alive. He eventually kills himself to ensure Joanna's safe escape from a stand off. -Joanna goes to find a Dr. Carrol (yes, THAT Dr Carrol), who is at this time a normal human scientist. During there meeting the black chick that used to work with Joanna comes in, clearly a traitor, and shoots Dr Carrol in the gut. Suddenly Jonathon (sound familiar?) busts in, saves Joanna and they escape to the roof where a well trained, and clearly well funded small army and dropships are waiting. "Dr. Carinton sends his greetings" is heard. ;) -You fly to Mexico to investigate some Mayan ruins (Again, at this point in time you're wondering if there related to the Maians of the original) Anyway you discover that dataDyne is reading hieroglyphs that indicate of visiting aliens/gods. Datadyne then finds some sort of immense power source inside the ruins and they extract it with Joanna in pursuit. That was level 10 and thats as far as I got since finals are coming up and I can't really play it that often these days. I'm wondering if it meets up directly to the original. That'll be kinda cool.
