This has been discussed many times at the official forums, jagex said that it's not technically possible. So no, it wouldn't work.

The gold leaves is expensive and there's a small amount in stock. So why not be able to smith them? It should be level 60-65 (Credit to salamander) to make it, you would need a a gold bar and a hammer, maybe you could get 1-2 leaves per bar. Thank you.

Brute force attack, they try every possible combinations, they WILL break your password, the more characters you have in your pass the longer time it will take (There can be 35^x combinations, x=characters in password).
