advice on shading: if posable imagin the whole scene in 3d, next work out what the light source is and where it is comming from, then you should be able to see what is in shade and what is in light, oh and to keep it simple only do two or three colour shading, none of this anoying pillow stuff, that is more complex and often gives it all a very plastic feel. also, look at how light affects everyday objects, how the curves are effected, shadows etc, this will help you to see the shading in your mental 3d mode. people, people, calm down, and slow on the flames, spam, and tangents. i also think that 16 squares would be better, 64 is just mad, and dont go saying do 8 or whatever, cos havings squares that small puts people off doing it. heres a good idea: why dont we lose the squares, give people a bit more freedom and the ability to use instinct, let them do however much they feel like doing but no more than a quarter per person, that sounds fair to me. and if you want it to get started so desperatly then why dsont you start it? oh and another note, on top of this all, i feel that an avvy s to small to have quite a few people colabing, maybe 2 doing an avvy, 4 at max, but its just to small to make a good colab imo. i guess ill be the first, hmm, well what your asking for is complicated and would take a while, and its WAY to overused, originality and simplicity is the best way to get a free sig/linework. i do like the idea of a demionic butler as oposed to the useral noob. hmm, the description is much like a MXM sig of old. ah well, no i wont do this, good luck finding someone who will (if you can) PJB21

couldnt agree more. if your bored take up pixeling or getting high, the later is more expensive so i suggest the first. it doesnt matter if your bad to start with (you should see some of my firsts :oops: ) theres many kind helpful people here, including me, who can he you, please do it, if only to help save us from buddy related insanity! hey, im pjb21 and this is my pixels works, dating from the time of this post i guess. im currently 16, and doing my final exams, but that will be over on the 26th of june, leaving me with a long summer holidays. plans for the future is basicly getting a job in graphics design, and working my way towards that. media art and english are all strong points for me, and so im sure ill find something i enjoy. but yeah, enough about my life. ive been pixeling about dunno, 2 years now, on and off. this forum is what started it. currently havent been doing that much, pixeling anyways, i prefer some of the smoother digital art forms, and after all pixel art isnt really needed anymore, its dieing, shame, but it is. so im doing photography, vector, 'cartoon', 3d modeling, havnt got any decent digi paint software, shame cos i got a graphics tablet. im probably doing other stuff ive just forgoten. i have deviantart, feel free to visit me there, simply click here newest at the bottom oldest at the top MINI TIME! lol. 100% zoom at top, 300% under for a closer look. feel free to comment on it and say what you think, but no flaming, i really cant be bothered to break open the fire extunguishers between the mods. yer well thats about it. oh something else, i was thinking whats the smallest size font you can make, and i got to 3*4 pixel with it still being able to define what the letters are with out to much problem, i doubt anyone can get smaller with the letters still being easy to read. here it is: new avvy, this one for rybek or 'the mage doo' (cba to do 3x zoom, maybe later, now is later =D) and then the linework for anyone interested in doing there own shading and colouring... the green is summon a noob, im guessing the red is summon 'T3H 1337!' or somming, cos that spell he is using is lv 22, so hence it must be the lower of the two.

it helps if your more discriptive, such as is your character a boy or a girl? what are they wearing? what skin tone/hair? what axe? an idea for a background. think about it.
