  1. Getting depressed over an A minus is generally pretty stupid. I agree with you. Generally. But growing up is tough stuff, and it's easy to find depression in seemingly stupid things. I don't think people are getting more depressed, I think people are just talking about their problems more than you've noticed before. A bunch of people have thought tenth grade was hardest, I think it's really that age group that's hard. Sweet sixteen really stinks. Dunno if Ive ever had a social slump. Ive been kind of frustrated before because of a really stupid medical condition, but nothing really depressing :D
  2. I love that song, but I've never found the lyrics especially incredible. My favorite lyrics, just to be different from all the other posts this thread will get, are as follows: My Bonnie looked into a gas tank, The height of its content to see. She lit a little match to assist her, Oh bring back my Bonnie to me!
  3. When you present your poll results to the class, be sure to examine possible sources of error. For example, I prefer not to answer. The answers you are getting are only from the group of people who choose to answer, and that can mess up your results. Teachers love analysis like this, bring it up in class and you're grade goes up a full letter grade at least  I play Day of Defeat, a realistic WWII simulater multiplayer game. It has desensitized me to violence, but I don't think it can cause me to be violent. There is no way to transform the "click and shoot" impulse into a real-life "point the gun and pull the trigger" impulse. On the other hand, listening to eminem made me start to swear more, until I realized what was going on, and now I generally avoid swearing. But I still listen to eminem.
  4. Mark Twain has some good ones...lemme see if I can find 'em... ^Can be read either as a criticism of religion or a fear of God. I just thought it was clever Self explanatory Put your education to good use! Why go to school if you never apply what you learn? What seems like a radical opinion today will someday be considered normal. What we consider a normal opinion was once radical, and it is rapidly becoming old and out-of-date. I love this one. Basically, venting your anger by swearing loudly can sometimes be much more satisfying than peaceful meditation or religious purity. I am never disrespectful to anything that I find worthy of respect  People never give a differing opinion the respect that it deserves. ..And I'm not sure if I remember this one exactly, but this is close... We are all vain, every last one of us, vain and conceited and self-absorbed and proud. The only difference between people is that some people are better at pretending to be humble. I'm not saying I agree with all of these, but I found them amusing

Wow. That is awesome. You don't even have to look for deeper meaning, it has depth on the surface...if that makes sense... Thanks for sharing. :D My personal favorites, although I am not exactly "well versed," are The Tyger by William Blake, High Flight by John Magee, The Jabberwock by Lewis Carrol, and another one (you'll like this last one best if you have read Shakespeare's Hamlet  Enjoy :D And, don't let me forget...Alexander Pope's immortal "Epigram Engraved on the Collar of a Dog Which I Gave to His Royal Highness": I am his highness's dog at Kew; Pray tell me, sir, whose dog are you?
  6. Well, I don't use any of those free tools, but I assume that whenever you use them, there is advertising space on the page that companies pay money for. Google just provides you with a good tool that you can use for free, and they get money from advertisers, who are provided with a ready audience for their product. Really, google is "selling" a company exposure to an audience that they attract with free services.

Dunno...they do have a pretty cool sound, but it doesn't sound unique or special, really. The problem is (at least in this video) they don't seem to have great equipment, so the sound doesn't have that studio quality that makes it sound....polished and cool. They sound pretty standard to me. Maybe I just need to hear a better recording. :?
  8. Haha that hideous text is my handwriting   I was playing around with scanning my rl signature and playing with the image in photoshop. By sending the contrast through the roof, I got those grainy bright colors to come out of the pencil line, and so I wrote my online name and used it as a sig ever since. I don't think I'll change that, but I might play with it to make it look smoother if it does look bad to everyone. No, Prince William is not in there. Every image in there has significant personal meaning to me, that's the whole point. The list of stuff you gave, that seems like all the stuff you would put in, and I'm not you. Although I do think cartoon characters or some DoD (game) images might work. I'll play with the image, maybe post a new one soon, any new opinions are appreciated :D
  9. Haha, I thought your name was cooler before I found out about the spongebob reference... As for the image, it definitely made me chuckle. Nice one  Maybe if you increased contrast or played with brightness/darkness of the trump image before you inserted it, it would look more natural in the rs world.
  10. OK, I tried to edit last post, but it didn't work :? Anyway, here's what I've done: - Little more glow around the name and front image - Changed color of that glow - Made all background/collage images a little more transparent I have NoT yet tried deleting any images to make it less cluttered. What I'm shooting for is this: At first glance, you notice name and front image Then, if you are interested, you can look closer and discover interesting images in the background. Does this accomplish that? Are the text and front image the obvious main focus? Are the background images clear enough, or are they just way too cluttered to examine them at all? Should I actually start deleting images  ? I don't mind them being messy, just so long as they're not incomprehensible. Thanks for reading, everybody. Go ahead and be cruel when you criticize what I've done :D
  11. Yeah, I have turned up the transparency on the background images to make them less bright. As for the guy being over the name, all that he's covering up is the 5 and 3, which aren't really important. So I personally think that's okay. Anyway, the focus is really supposed to be on the name and the guy over it. As for it being too messy, that is what I was afraid of. But my idea is that if you glance at the image, you see name and guy over it. Then if you take the time to look closer you can see all these images meshed in behind. That's the idea, anyway. I'll play around with it and post a new one in.....about 6 hours maybe. Thanks for the help everyone :D Feel free to keep throwing me some criticism.
  12. I think the picture makes it look bigger than it is because all those women are really short. Picture a really lanky anglo guy standin next to it. His head would be near the top of the TV. It's still a huge TV, and I still want one, but it's not as big as it looks.
  13. I like the smoke, the chain, and the green eyes, but other than that its hard to see what things are. What is the blue streak at the top? And I can't tell what that red thing with studs is.....obviously armor, but otherwise...?
  14. 18 views and no replies? :? Cmon guys, all you have to do is glance at the image and post one thing about it that you don't like. The worst that can happen is that I make fun of you..... Anyway, here's what I have made for my new, non-rs sig. Good? Bad? Ugly...?......Anyone...?......Bueller?..........Bueller?
  15. ha ha dark ice, you need sharper knees ^^With my lower lip!
  16. Hey everybody 8) I made my current sig a while ago in photoshop. I like it well enough, but I am no longer playing runescape. So I wanted to re-make it using images from outside rs. And I figure, if I'm remaking it anyway, why not ask around to see what suggestions people have? I'm not experienced at image manipulation or anythin; so I used a fairly simple process to make my current sig. Each image is on its own layer, and each layer is semi-transparent (except name and character on top). The only effects I used were outer glow on each image and stroke on the text. When I make the new one, I want it to have the same "form," but if you have any suggestions about ways to improve, things that look awkward, etc, go ahead and post here. Rate my sig if you want, I don't really care, I'm really just looking for simple ideas on how to tweak the "form" when I make my new sig. And of course, what kind of pictures do you think I should use? All help is appreciated, thanksabunch :D
  17. Stay close friends and wait is what I'd say. What else can you do? She knows you're interested, and if you stay close to her she might get used to the idea.
  18. I liked X&Y just fine, but all the songs were exactly the same. So I just listen to the best three or four. Another album like X&Y would be just more of the same. So I'm glad to see Coldplay is going to change, more of the same would be really boring. And what exactly is a transvestite phase?
  19. ^^Yeah, that pic reminds me of the German sniper in "Enemy at the Gates." Craig'll probably do great in the role. And let me just say, I myself am blond, and I am thoroughly offended by the completely insensitive blond bashers on this forum! jk but seriously, what's wrong with hair dye?
  20. even if I did wear makeup, I wouldn't be able to put it on without my contacts in anyway.
  21. Scruffy5389 replied to frogmite's topic in Off-Topic
On the topic of men wearing makeup, it is so completely and rediculously unfashionable in my particular case (don't ask) that the man wearing it would be an instant outcast. Or at least an object of ridicule. This is not the way it should be, though. You can be sure that the males paid to look good (TV and stage actors, models), all wear makeup because it does, in fact make them more broadly appealing. I bet George Bush wears makeup extremely often. Heck, Usher and 50 Cent and probly eminem all wear makeup. They'd just die before they admit it. If someone wants to put all that on, let 'em. I personally find it attractive if the girl doesn't use too much. Some people don't even need eyeshadow, but wear it anyway and it makes them look like something different than what they are. So makeup is not needed, but helpful. And certainly not immoral. I like this thread idea btw. Finally, an open-ended "why" question that is not so broad and abstract that no one can really write enough to answer the question.
  22. Does the teacher keep the money, or donate it to charity? If he/she keeps it, it is obviously extortion. If he/she donates it, I would say it is still wrong, but you're going to have a hard time getting police support, I bet. Anyway, I would probably go to the principle before the police. If you go to the police first, you're showing that you're not willing to try and work the situation out peacefully. But if you try and be a diplomat and go to the principle, you can at least try to work it out. If he is completely uncompromising, at least you tried, and then you can go to the police. Besides, what if it's just a big misunderstanding? Make sure you know what you're getting into before you get the law involved. I hate when teachers pull stupid stuff like this. Even if it's all for charity and they think they're doing the right thing, they're imposing their own values forcibly on others. Kind of an infringment on natural freedoms.
  23. that's gotta be an urban legend...squirrells digging in flower beds is normal behavior for a foraging animal. And if it does find crack, eating it would kill it like the article said, and I'm pretty sure that it wouldn't want to sniff it more than once. That's still a hilarious article, though. Especially:
  24. Can you engrave stuff other than letters and numbers? If so, don't put an apple, put a banana or pineapple!
  25. As far as I know, people generally go looking for agents, not the other way around. Either you are so sexy you have to wear masks and baggy clothes to protect passersbys from your pure beauty, or you're making that up. (Or by "tried to contact you" you mean they sent you some junk mail.) I know this, of course, because I, myself, have to wear baggy clothes and a fake moustache to stop people from staring for more than 5 min or so. But I still have to beat the agents off with sticks  Not tryin to mock you, man, just sayin that that's hard to believe. And btw, a little healthy ego never hurt nobody  ...As for glasses, I personally look lousy in glasses. But a hot girl can look even better in glasses, and I've heard girls talking glowingly (is that a word?) about guys in glasses. Glasses do not a nerd make. (is that a sentence?)
