forgive my responses in quote - they're in italics.

This is actually a very tough question given that even the most unused feature for me may be essential for someone else... Given that, I'll divide my answer into the following: Skills: Firemaking. Tip's guide for this used to claim that firemaking was "essential for all life in RS" or something along those lines. Now, I think they have come around to conclude this skill is worthless, worthless, worthless given that there are about 100 ranges throughout RS. Cities: Several come to mind, but NARDAH. Yes, in the desert. Yes, near the agility pyramid. Yes, THAT pyramid that hardly anyone uses anymore. While Nardah is a close bank for many things out there... like leveling on crocodiles  , nothing brings you closer to a bank (and tele) than Al Kharid with a glory tele. Most who train out here most likely do the glory route, though I could be wrong - I'm sure SOMEONE must use this place outside of the quests in the desert. Quest: (EDIT) Rat Catchers. (MAAAAAANY others could be added) The Cat pits which have been mentioned... (Games Room...*sigh* what junk...ADD PRIZES!!) Gameplay Feature: Chat effects. They look stupid, are annoying, irritate my eyes, and which is why I have them ALL turned off. Why then should they be here in the first place? Gameplay Feature, Round 2: The "Manual" before the Knowledge Base. This game is too complex, too dynamic for that junk... The KB was waaaaay overdue, and while it has let us all in several "secrets" only known to JaGex, Tip's guides and the Archive of Wisdom beat it by a 5:3 margin IMHO. Other Junk worth mentioning that has been said before: Trade Screen, Banking System, Chat Box... ugh, the more I think about it, the more I realize, the gameplay in this game is excessively complicated and extremely user unfriendly.... EXAMPLE: Why do I have to "add X-person" as a friend in order to respond to their private message? Come on, make the friend's list/ chat "feature" better while you're at it. Rant .out[/b]

Collecting & Anti-Littering Guide - Over 700k items so far!
Greedom1 replied to RAHK's topic in General Discussion
I love this kind of stuff -- makes about as much sense to collect junk as it does to level past 99 (get over it, they're not raising them!) Anyways, here's mine (none were ever purchased except from a general store in several cases): Empty Buckets: 7,520 Lockpicks: 192 Bark: 232 (who the heck collects bark!!) Proboscis: 296 (!?) Tiaras: 19,561 Power Ammys: 362 (technically not junk, but they might as well be...) :) Curries: 1824 (Again not junk, but seriously... who makes this many curries? NOTE: if you can show me more than 1824 curries in inv you get a free prize from me...) Total value of prize 100k or so... My herb seeds from toadflax to guam are too insane to count. (And that's after gifting away over 400 to friends). whew. I'm embarassed :-$ :anxious: -
Personally I spend a lot of time in whatever city is best for the current skill at hand. Since I enjoy farming and it's close to the cammy tele, I enjoy Catherby. However, I have to say your point about Yanille is spot on. The hordes don't descend there and the quiet is nice for power training things like crafting as well (hide crafting too). For especially high levels, I'm sure Yanille is a welcome respite from the noise around the rest of RS.

AHA!!! Off-topic, but proof that they nerfed silver crafting! There is no longer make-x for silver crafting... argh. :) :wall: :x

does forum.tip.it contain the elite players of RS?
Greedom1 replied to Lode's topic in General Discussion
where are some of these other forums located? (as in site addresses) DI specifically... I hope i'm not breaking any rules, but I'm just curious. -
(From a law crafters perspective) 66 law crafting was okay when essence (from macroers, no doubt) was about 28-35 gp each. With the update of pure ess (and essence stocks from those same macroers depleting), it's simply too costly to runecraft on 66 when essence is 100 gp ea +. I never liked trading the essence as the runners were keeping the laws anyways. World 99 is a better fit for me, and something I'll likely do for a few days to get a few levels.

what herb seeds did you get? low? or higher ones? or a mix? Nicely done btw.

the best use of multitasking is for those skills that are mind numbing boring like smithing, crafting. First, think crafting is entirely useless and too expensive? Then stop reading now. Myself, I have over 15k hides to tan and craft, and then alch the bodies. Do I do this on an empty world? No! I do it on the most crowded bank as possible at Al Kharid (p2p) and watch for deals and occasionally offer free hide crafting... that way you don't waste time trying to sell your wares and you can mix up the time it takes to... tan...over...15k...hides. 88 crafting and counting btw. :)

Reminds me: a possible Dragon Defender and (as it has been already said) Drag Pickaxe are probably more likely than any of the others.... Personally I'd like a Dragon bstaff (or Lava/Mud mix) with all of the elemental runes (not air) on it. The three on one (earth, water, fire) would be unbelievably handy.
-
Interesting idea but what about the following: Dragon Pickaxe Dragon Full Helm Dragon Platebody Dragon Kiteshield Dragon Super Happy Fun Death Party Hat Ok, maybe it's a bit much, but if ANY of those came out, I'd be giddy.

I want to give a hand to whomever wasted almost 4 mill to find that out. Thanks! Next time you want to find something out, consider just alching a d chain... They're almost low enough... :) Or you could look at the knowledge base. It says quiet clearly it makes 24 bolts. And to find what anything alches for. Value it at the general store then times that by 1.5. Thanks for those tips - I read about 80-90% of the kbase info for the new crossbows, but they were spread out across like 5 different guides. I was not aware of the 1.5 times price of general store (I thought it fluctuated a bit). Thanks!

If I did my math right (4 mill gp = 300k tokkul), that's 13.333 something per tokkul. Given that, 13.33 gp = 1 tokkul. At 1.5k tokkuls per onyx bolt, that is STILL 20k per bolt. If a dueler needs only 15-20 per duel, then ok. But still, these are for the serious of the serious.

Understood (on the last point especially). I think the key is that it's within a social group, and not a phrase/acronym that is used between groups. In an age when the internet (again, tubes) is continually developing subgroups within groups within others, it's extraordinary to me to see how something as inane (and honestly unfamiliar to me) as a silly internet acronym can be rife with meaning and significant content. As a social scientist myself, I get off on this stuff as you can tell. :3> Time for bed, and thanks all for the replies.

My point is, things like BTW (by the way) or AFK (away from keyboard) are placed within a context of a statement and are merely internet shorthand. However, FTW is nonsensical in that it is a exclamatory statement which has nothing really connecting it to the previous sentence. It's somewhat of an enthusiastic outburst, but I really don't get it. I think one reason why the (even more bizarre) interpretation of "**** The World" has gained traction is that if there is a curse word in there, it makes it more understandable and acceptable. For example: (For ****'s Sake) As in letters: ef, ef, es. <-- filter won't allow it. (I apologize for skirting it slightly.) Everyone can handle that even though it has no real meaning. The addition of curse words both provides substantive interpretation while at the same time providing little or no significant meaning. <-- Try to wrap your head around that one! :wall: :-k I'm no linguist, but I'm sure they must have problems with things like LOL or the godawful ROFLMAO... I frikin hate when folks type the latter as unless you're literally rolling on the floor, it's a tad much. Moral of this story: next time you find yourself using FTW (or really any similar phrase spoken or typed), ask yourself, does this really make sense or am I merely using a vernacular that I've seen/heard others use? The mysteries of the spoken/written language - they astound me. :) Thoughts?

I still don't quite understand - these darn internets and their tubes :) (consult Senator Ted Stevens (R-AK) for more info.)
-
I've searched for this (here and google) and have come to two conclusions: 1. There is no true consensus on what this means. 2. Often it is put into a post with little or no contextual meaning. So. FTW means apparently: For The Win **** The World Others: Free The Whales Farts Timed Well Overall, it's a meaningless phrase, but I find it frustrating when I can't figure out exactly what someone is trying to say. Perhaps maybe I'm not in the know enough, you know? Let this thread die a quick and painless death, thanks :) Note the following on this topic found elsewhere: http://toutcute.com/index.php/2006/03/0 ... a-gamer-3/ And a fun thread on the topic: http://forums.gamedaily.com/lofiversion ... 94671.html

One of Jagex's many grammatical mistakes.

Nigh, not neigh. :shame:  -
Yup - extremely useful as you are teled almost right outside the smith place. for power smithing, the ecto furnace is unbeatable, with al kharid a close second. This method is especially useful if you're in the area questing -- two boat rides to moon clan, turn on lunar spells (with ore/bars in inv), get teled to relekka, tele back, run a trip of astral (if you want to be productive)and turn off lunar, get teled back to relekka, should take less than 4-5 mins.

Thanks - I'd thought this would be quite helpful for some. :)
