am I the only one who sometimes withdraws all their gp at a time for simplicity's sake? (Thereby I keep it towards the bottom.) I agree with organizing by skills otherwise.

this has been said before - but I have zero problem with it. Nor do I have much of a problem with a guy playing a girl character or vice versa.

World 99--The Bowstring Company. Next Event on Friday!

There are better ways to level crafting at high levels, but in the lower levels this is outstanding :) -
Very true. Efficiency may mean you lose out on small drops in the short run, but if by training you reach a higher realm of play (ie. high slaying), then in the long run it would definitely be to your benefit.

A Simple Herblore Guide. Mods, please move this!

nice guide - it's a shame super sets are as low as they are... *pines for the days of 15k ea or more* :3> -
Good luck, however giving out 30M isn't gonna show them it's just a game, now would it? :shame: And you can't show me, since I KNOW it's a lot more than just a game. :notalk: I guess what I meant was that when I give away money, I encourage people to do the same in the future...whether it be taking time to help out a lower level, or to give someone a few supplies to gain a near-level. Of course, I never find out if they actually do "Pay it forward," but I have seen some people respond very positively to what I have to say when I respond to their saying "00MgG d00d!! WhYd j00 g1v3 me 2mil?!!?" I had my first drop party yesterday when I reached 90 crafting -- only 4 friends could make it and I reveled in dropping/giving about 1 mill in items. Jabraulter, though some may find your ideas lunacy, I am impressed and somewhat inspired... Personally, I think a major goal would be to be able to give away every last item I've worked so hard for for so long and still be as enthusiastic about it as the first day I grew to love this game. If I could reach that lofty ambition, I wouldn't beat the game for sure, but neither would have RuneScape beaten me. :) :D :-w

Have fun mostly - other things are merely a means to that. Skilling and doing/finishing quests are the best part about RS.

did that make sense to anyone else? I was thinking the same thing --- Blaziken, explain? Well, what I meant was you said lower level tree spirits drop nature runes more often, didn't you? If that's not what you meant, I will report my post at once and try to get it removed. I thought you meant lvl120 tree spirits dropped nature runes more often than 159, forgive me if I'm wrong. If I am indeed wrong I must have misread. Ah... I understand. You're saying once you reach a cb level where randoms are 159s - no turning back then. My point about the 120s vs 159s is basically that if you're a pure of some sort and can kill 120's faster than you can kill 159s (at an equivalent level) then it's overall more positive. I would seriously consider training there a bit for the natures if it wasn't for the lack of combat xp. But I've said that way too much already :)

round 2.5 22 nats mith axe irit seed 5 nats steel axe steel axe steel axe steel axe 2 nats mith axe herb (guam) 22 nats herb (harralander) adamant axe uncut sapphire 22 nats irit seed belladonna seed herb (guam) adamant axe herb (avantoe) Decent nat rune drops - it's actually decent there if you're somewhat of a pure (low combat) with a lower combat tree spirit (like the 120's or whatever). 159's take a bit longer... If you cannot craft your own natures, but have finished the fiary ring quest, and have a decent (but not too high) combat level, you might find it worth your while to check this place out. However, without giving training xp, these things stink overall.
-
round 2: mith axe 22 nats herb (irit) adamant axe 22 nats 22 nats steel axe nothing :( steel axe mith axe steel axe herb (kwuarm) steel axe steel axe lantadyme seed herb (harralander) 22 nats toadflax seed steel axe uncut emerald <--- means a dhalf could be dropped as well. (More to come later...) Also note that a dds appears to have no significant effect (apart from the dd special) as I believe you cannot poison tree spirits. The best method (safest) is to hally them using the plant next the tree to block (I lagged twice when I was there). These would be a viable training option if you hallyed them, especially for the natures) if they actually gave xp... Otherwise you're better off training elsewhere.
-
I've killed about a dozen in this first trip and gotten the following: knife 22 nats mith axe mith axe adamant axe steel axe toadflax herb (unided at first) mith axe 22 nats belladonna seed mith axe 22 nats avantoe seed mith axe They are HORRIBLE for training as they give crummy xp, but if you want to last longer, consider hallying them as there are safe spots... By the way, how did you get 3 to appear at once? Only one comes out for me. (maybe at different tree I guess) Also the large rock in your pic, upon examining says, "I guess it's not a rolling stone." The other says, "Rock, but obviously not roll." It's a fun area - worthwhile for about 15 mins, and then you can be on your way... Perhaps tree spirits will be a slaying task?

a skill that doesn't get enough credit... your opinion on fm
Greedom1 replied to weasel's topic in General Discussion
Uhrm, bullseye lanterns weren't there first time the skill was released. Can't you call that improvement? Bullseye lanterns are made using smithing and crafting. There is no reason that crafting couldn't also include the making of a "firelighter" (or a tinderbox) that merely lit an existing lamp. Still no real need to have it as an exclusive skill.... Saying a bullseye lantern is an improvement is correct, but Firemaking as a skill needs to improve by a factor of 10 to be considered worthy of it being its own skill... :| -

I find it disheartening that apparently anyone who has a strong opinion on this is relegated to being called a 10 year old.... Regardless, firemaking as a skill has not improved and it is still the same schlock it's always been. By leaps and bounds (maybe into an abyss...) it is the most useless skill in all of RS. No reason why crafting couldn't have a "portable stove" component to it or something (as a substitute for fmaking). And excuses like shade burning and mining helmets are ignoring the point of the original post, which is that firemaking as it is currently, needs to be updated in a significant way. Future posts on this thread should offer ideas for improvement as opposed to tearing apart other tipiters... I'll start (and a nod to those who have mentioned much of this before) -Bonfires -Instant smithing locations (logs+ore and even hides? to start) -Make firemaking combat-centered... (stay with me...) As in, allow a fire to be lit that improves the effectiveness of a sword by making it hot -- think a dragon scimmy (h). Or... perhaps a fire could be used to make fire arrows (why why why are they only used in underground passage?) OR - make firemaking and herblore combined (add a special potion to a fire for a tanning fire) to allow an instant tanning location for hides... <------- I would droooool for this. I'll stop now before you think I may have become a 10 year old... :( -
mostly time. "Skill" only can be considered in terms of trading and choosing the right inv or equipment to fight monsters... Given that the almighty fire cape (about the -only- skill-based reward in the game) has caused so much consternation and stress, I'd venture that most RS players are mosly time-oriented.

bleh - firemaking is junk. No significant use apart from total levels. It's been said before and will be said again many more times before JaGex updates anything firemaking related... Speaking of... maybe I'll burn a few k maples... :) -
if you read market forums, don't forget: a/w or auto/win (often for a higher price, but where the buyer can win a sale by bidding a certain amount.) thanks

I know, I know, no pic, no proof... But when I did over 40 quests in the span of 2 months (without doing Tears once), plus over 5 mill xp gained in the same time... I got 145 in my bowl. Yes, I was shocked. Now, I get about 80-95 per trip.
-
bleh - this minigame is doomed to be played by the mediocre (or the bored) as almost any prize worth earning is tradeable.... I like that Jagex is mixing the game up a lot (HONEST, I am...), but the dumb economy is so overblown that most who play this game in the coming weeks will do so for its novelty, but not because it is truly entertaining and a significant gp moneymaker... :-k

I think its even in a quest quide,an F2p one, where you have to help a witch to make a potion, you'll need some burned food, try to 2x cook rat meat (or any other meat)it'll work. If regular meat works (like beef, bear, chicken, etc) and fish doesn't, there should a mention of this in the cooking guide as a footnote... EDIT. I tried with a chicken and it worked. Apparently only "turf" animals can handle a little extra heat.... Maybe the delicate meat from the "surf" animals cannot handle being cooked on a range... Seriously, who cooks fish in such a crude manner anyways? Sure fried fish can be delicious, but come on there are so many better ways to cook it... :) :-k
-
several replies suggest that you can burn food by "recooking" on a range. I've just tried this with fish from sharks to trout and IT DOES NOT WORK. If you have proof that you can do this, please share, otherwise test the method before advising others.

I use Nardah for Dust Devil Slaying, Run out to the Carpet. Get to Nardah Bank and go back. Fastest Way. I never said no one uses it, just that personally I don't. I stand corrected as several of you have pointed out -some- use for that city. Without a bank though, I think it'd be almost the loneliest place in RS.
