  1. Okay, I understand the idea. However, I'm still a little foggy on why another stack of gold would help. If the idea is to speed up paying folks - why not create a stack of "checks" with each being 50k or something. Another stack of gold coins doesn't seem to really solve the problem.
  2. Agreed. From the thread subject title to the post itself it was a bunch of gibberish to me. I'm interested in your ideas mate (original poster that is), but next time try to convey them a little more effectively... Chalk this up to "grammar-snobbery" if you insist. I'm done and done and done and out son. whats wrong with it now u get the point don't you? Honestly, no I don't. Please explain a little further if you could. Worker piles?

  4. Nice idea, but be honest with me - have you been watching the History Channel tonight? They had an episode or two about the middle/dark ages - one of which prominently featured the recurve bow. Not to take away from your suggestion if you were - I was just wondering.
  5. bump for any new thoughts / ideas / critiques / suggestions ... Enjoy :)
  6. I understand your point, but a few would be nails for brutal arrows, bolts, and bolt limbs. As far as smithable armor though, you're right. (Smith X anyone???)
  7. Add the following: Gnome cooking minigame. Every recent quest save for the Ice Troll Isles quest. In general, way too many of their updates settle for being island or "fringe" quests/minigames where the new locations are underground or off on some far off area. Much of the map does need development, but it seems that too often Jagex rushes a new quest or update and just shoves it off to an unused corner of the map. They don't really care about it, we don't either, and the bs continues... (for a good read, try Harry Frankfurt - "On BS") Personally I don't see the quest "reward" as sufficient for determining whether a quest is good or not. Rather, I feel that if it introduces new usable areas of the map it is much more important. The quest itself plays the largest role, but how worthwhile it is to you is another matter. Speaking of reawrds, of course I use the Keris dagger and the herb patch from My Arm, and the balloon rides, etc... (I love farming and slaying, what can I say?) But I think we can all agree that a new area that we can all use (productively) is a lot more fun than a few k exp or an item you'll only occasionally use. (Think: ape atoll, elven lands) For this reason, I felt that the Ice Troll quest area has been the best recent (quest) update. Others come to mind of course, but none come as close.
  8. I don't think anyone enjoyed the rat catchers quest. (I'm just saying...) :)
  9. *pauses in combat while reading this thread and thinking about those raw monkfish stinking up my bank* *lags out at aberrants with no prayer left* I hope those dumb fish go extinct... *whew that was close*
  10. Thanks -- glad you understood what I was getting at. I posted some additional thoughts on a later post on page 1. Obviously demand can be a factor here, but it seems that a lot of the market fluctuations (until the whole March BTS thing) had a bit more to do with supply than demand alone. After all, the majority of robin owners buy them for the status or speculative value, not the range bonus. Even at 2-3 mill for a robin, that extra +2 over an archer helm made demand for them almost minimal. On ranger BOOTS on the other hand, the added range bonus truly is worth the cost as there is no suitable replacement while range training. As such, even for 1-2 mill they could be considered a bargain, so it's possible that demand has more to do with their cost increase. (At least more so than the robin.) Throw a few kinks in the "normal" range set market and you can see why a few hiccups would ensue... :) Again, to reiterate my first point: you cannot discount the masses who may do the level one and level 2 clues in sheer number, but the "clue farmers" (as someone mentioned) are most likely the more mature/motivated players. You can only expect them to focus their attention on clues that are most profitable on average. Of course, level 3's clearly take the cake here.
  11. Spot on. Though there are some slight tangential discussions to be had you've figured out (earlier than some, later than others) that the way to make it in RS is to stand on the backs/shoulders of others. Obviously some skills require training (mining, hunter, fishing, agility) and cannot be bought. Yet if your goal is gp and/or skills, clearly collecting everything yourself is a bit of a waste. The trick of course is to buy the raw materials while trying to make a little bit of profit / least loss in value possible. Either way, good luck to ya.
  12. ^ That would actually increase the supply of robin sets and hence reduce the price.. NOT increase it as you seem to suggest... For Robins this may be true as they're a level 3 clue, but not for Ranger Boots which are level 2. I do about 7-10 clues a week and none are level 2s. Mostly this is because of the monsters I kill, but also because apart from ranger boots, level 2 clue rewards are worthless. A bigger initial impact on the price is likely the added "junk" for the clue rewards. Whereas before Robins basically shared space with God Armor and then God Pages, now there are Cavaliers, blessed dhides, etc. The same for Rangers as well. However, these items have been out for a long time, and this really doesn't explain the increase in price. Overall I think the sets are increasing in pice (yes both the robin and the boots) for the following reasons: -Less level 2 clues being done. -More junk and clutter added to rewards -Market effects: as semi-rare things shoot up in price it tends to inflate the effect other market forces may have. In other words, Ranger sets become more expensive because people hear that they are more expensive. If someone now speculates that they should increase in price, they expect to charge (and pay) more for the same itmes. As they plunge in value the same holds true. I think that it's not any of these causes in particular that explains the current price of Ranger sets, but the latter could explain the recent skyrocketing of the items. Additionally it might be interesting to see whether the recent increase for robin prices may be following (not leading) the increase in the price of ranger boots. People figure that if rangers increase in price by 400%, hey why not boost robins up 50% or more...
  13. I agree with most of what you're saying except that Jagex isn't clear exactly what "item scamming" is. Clearly swapping a noted iron scim for a rune one is item scamming. Trading someone when you're on the edge of the wildy isn't as clear-cut. I think there needs to be a deeper discussion about the rules of the game before we get into castigating the behavior of individuals that are playing the game as it is currently designed. When Jagex decides to finally address these issues with a serious backbone, then I think that might be the time we can truly have a serious discussion about this. Until then, Jagex's half-measures will leave us with an incomplete discussion.
  14. I play because I enjoy the game obviously and I have time to play it at the moment. (Both are interconnected IMO.) On your second point, I help out the same friends over and over and over and over. I rarely give freebies to newbies or noobs. Rather, I find that giving a friend a 1-5 million gift (that is truly appreciated) is much more valuable to me than 10 or even 100 gifts to strangers. Some may jump and call me selfish or even perhaps exclusive. I would argue that I'm merely exhibiting the behavior we all show in our daily lives. We will give our family unlimited efforts while only giving a minimal degree for complete strangers. I'm sure almost all players are similar to me: they have 1-5 good friends on RS that they would trust their entire bank and RS life to, and then the vast anonymous hordes. The former receive those 1 million gp+ gifts of items/materials with no questions asked; the latter are lucky to get a 10k gp break on a standard trade.
  15. You've gotta be kidding me... Keep your eyes on the road son! :)
  16. Hi scores and skill capes are killing* RS. *If you want an explanation, be patient, I'll post eventually about this.
  17. This was the hot topic and I believe there is already a thread about this. (Edit - here: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=608661) Luring: part of the game IMHO. ("Luring" being defined as Dagg Kings luring and not trade luring in Edge...) The later is a bit questionable and should be fixed by Jagex.
  18. Correct me if I'm wrong, but zammy coif: +9 range bonus. (Robin has a +8). (Just got the zammy coif last night in a clue FTW!) (EDIT: Nevermind, they have a +7 bonus.) So where the hell is the market for zammy coifs people? (Robin sells sooo much faster....) Ranger sets just match and are apparently desirable even though certain items (ahem robin) are now outdated.... Btw, Ranger boots have been increasing not because of pures, but rather the fact that more and more players are doing level 3 clues as they are more profitable. I would suggest that among the players that consistently do clues, most do level 3s. For this reason, ranger boots which were 650k for a good year or more about 16 months ago have shot up to 1.8 -2 mill or more now. (They were only 1 mill even 5-6 months ago.) Do -NOT- underestimate the effect third age has had on treasure trails... It's made people look at TTs as a worthwhile endeavor. I mean good grief, it made me finally jump on board. :)
  19. Though I've seen this guide for awhile and it was invaluable on my quest to get a second pair of cooking guants... took two tries and WHAMMMMO! Second cook guants. <--- should be a quest ffs! That was frikin tough. :)
  20. The agility shortcuts were way too long overdue. They need to expand on these and instead of offering newer ways to train agility, offer new uses for the skill. Any attempt to do otherwise is an exercise in futility. On topic: I think the methodology of the poster isn't the issue. Rather, just the too often understated point that Jagex's idea of a "high level" isn't exactly the same as ours.
  21. I know there are crocodiles, but not crocodile -claws- yet. For the water, I think it should be from one source/ type to cut down on the confusion. Then, the mage/monk could bless accordingly.
  22. managing your inventory while skilling or even in combat is one of the central "skills" of this game. Any efficient player uses some form of what you're describing - but grats to figuring it out on your own. Here's some others: Firemaking: put the tinderbox in the middle of your inv - saves time from clicking on it and all the logs (as it's generally closest to the logs in total). Herblore: similar to fletching. Combat: if you alch your drops, leave a spot or two available near where the alch icon is in the mage menu - but keep priceless gear like your guthans spear or whip far away from here. ;-) Farming: not quite the same, but basically organize your inv with all seeds, equipment, and tele runes so you don't have to bank that often. (Bring a duel ring and/or glory in case you do.) Ok that's enough. Also remember organizing your bank is pretty clutch as well. But that almost goes without saying. Thanks :)
  23. Yes, "affiliated" as in a business relationship. When miniclip gets players (hits) then Jagex clearly earns several pennies/pences per click. Miniclip and its owners have no creative or organizational control over RS, they're more like a standard vendor of any product.
  24. I don't use Miniclip anymore if that's what anyone wants to know. So...Booooyah!
