Try waiting for some responses next time before you post. *thinks* Lurking really should be the next skill on Tip.it's forums...

Where Are All The High Level People From??
Greedom1 replied to nightspirit's topic in General Discussion
US --- 114 (by the time you update this it will be at least!) :) -
It's possible it may not have the same enthusiasm from new members coming on board (2005 and early 2006 especially). Jagex may be AGING, but it's most certainly not dying. Lastly, though your post has interesting ideas behind it, it's poorly written and argued. Next time craft a better argument/post in the first place and your ideas may get more attention. Thanks-

Useless for you... immensely profitable for me (with 82 herblore FTW!)

Which slayer master do you go to usually for tasks? Duradel How long does each task set usually take to do? About 2 hours as well. Give or take an hour. (Pretty large standard deviation... lol.) What do you do or use to complete your tasks? Whip / D scim / Guthans to heal. What is the best drop you've gotten from your slayers tasks? Rune Boots (several), but I love them herb seeds - less than 250k exp to lvl 85 farm! :)

Though I know many players RC fires for quick XP, I'm really most interested in fires from drops alone...

Which item in your bank gathers the most dust?
Greedom1 replied to mrmyk's topic in General Discussion
The 10k or so body runes I carried over from f2p about 2 years ago. Haven't used a single one since. -
Maybe organize the list by skill? Since flax and crafting hides (you could add that as well), jewellry all fall under crafting. Just a thought. Additions: Short: Mining rune (addy depending on level) If I think of more, I'll let you know. Thanks-

Looks like we have a winner - "enrix" (at least when the pic was taken). Obviously you can tell he doesn't need a prize - given he has tons of cash himself. It's difficult to say with certainty that they're ALL from drops, but given his slayer loot (black mystic, et al.) it's more than likely.
-
Drum - if you have it - 111,111 airs aint bad in itself - but I know there's a few people hoarding their drops - just wondering if it's even possible at this point to get 1 million of anything (other than gp) from drops alone.
-
Of course I know people sell em / use em / drop em / try to eat em! What I'm looking for are some pics of some serious collections of fire runes.
-
This isn't a request for fire runes, lord knows I have enough... I would say there are easily several thousand high level meleers out there that do nothing but bank the runes they get from drops. My question is -- do any of you have 1 million fire runes? (If you've bought/traded for/MADE more than say... 5k fires it doesn't count!) I'm talking fire runes purely* coming from monster drops. I know I've been playing and collecting my runes a long time (about 2 years), and I'm only up a little over 140k fire runes. I'm sure some can easily double or even triple that... So, any pics please? I'd love to see! If you're close or think you have something decent (i.e. over 200k), please post as well. * 99 44/100% pure... just like Ivory Soap.

I am a huge fan of bones to peaches, but overall guthans is MUCH more efficient. If you're smart about the way you do your inventory, it'll work just fine using food/guthans/bones to peaches or all three. So many people are afraid of the repair costs with guthans assuming they are going to wear it the full time slaying. Me? -DEPENDING ON TASK- I wear rune body, dragon legs/shield, etc and switch to guthans to heal. This way I don't wear down the guthans (as rune/dragon works just fine with 90 def.) Personally if you're on the fence, buy the Guthans. It's the only sane way to truly level slayer (given all the slayer monsters in the tower, etc.) If you have the patience, do bones to peaches - as it's the best way to slay dust devils/ bloodvelds/ etc...

Any high lvls that refuse or cant get a fire cape?273 names!
Greedom1 replied to antonwhy's topic in General Discussion
Greedom1 (112) -- no cape. -
I guarantee people will use this for a week or so, and maybe on one or two tasks, but the vast majority will soon go back to their whips and cannons for slaying kalaphites. The exception is for KQ slayers... there's a possibility this *could* be superior to Veracs at the right time. Still, given its inconsistency, I doubt most will use this dagger if other methods work well (and more consistently).

AGREED! Ugh, that irritates me so much... Good thing I made about 40 of them...

A Nice little tidbit for the New Keris...

Please no more rumors and some actual pics please? -
Maybe this is spam, but... Meh. (EDIT) It likely is. So I'll elaborate. RS Dreams? Give me a break. Dreams are supposed to be about pirates and ninjas... Preferably Ninjas kicking pirate butt. I mostly dream of people and places*, though I will say that dreams tend to follow those things you're often anxious about: so if you REALLY want to get to lvl 85 mining for example, perhaps rune pkers or even Rock Golems may show up in your dreams. My advice? Dream of hot chicks/guys... it's way more fun. Speaking of, g'dnight! * Most boring whatnot EVER! (Last night it was me adding ingredients for a chicken marsala!)

Obviously any smart individual would agree with you too! :) (Myself included.) It's basically a no brainer that anything taken to the extreme is bad for you. Be it drugs, alcohol, gaming, sex, gambling, etc. I do disagree with you (slightly) that any attempt to prescribe the "amount" of play is somewhat of a non starter. (In your post you gave no indication of the appropriate time to play.) But to lay a straw man argument, for some, even 6 hours may be perfectly workable considering their situation. If you were to suggest that "any more than 4 hours a day" would be detrimental, then obviously this could inaccurately label some as addicts. Stay with me with the below metaphor! please :) A metaphor of course could be alcohol. Most definitely this will be imcomplete, but please bear with me. We have all heard (hopefully) that a person's weight, attitude, tolerance, stomach contents, and personality all affect drunkiness... More studies attempt to define what a "drink" is: be it a shot, a glass of wine, a pint of beer, (kegstand ffs!!)... you get the idea. MY POINT IS: all this attention to detail misses the point. While it instructs an individual to understand and appreciate the value/concerns of alcohol, it does nothing to help them determine if they have an addiction or not. Obviously this topic is interesting to me -- but in the RS world we have to realize that gaming is as pleasurable as it is painful. As any addiction can be. Of course, it is your responsibility to determine what works for you.
-
Addiction is relative, but keep in mind many are also "functional addicts." This means their playing of RS is not a detriment (at least seriously) to work, family, school, meaningful relationships etc., but on one level they have lost control. I would say that most players are at one level heavily interested borderline addicted, but this isn't inherently a bad thing. Think of it as being a fan of a band. You may go to their concerts, buy the cds, listen to them repeatedly, buy posters, tshirts, etc... but you most likely grow out of it eventually. This is a big part of growing up for anyone. We "get into" things in what is most likely an effort to figure ourselves out. An addiction turns into one not only with time but also intensity. As you begin to lose touch with reality or begin to see those aspects of your life (work, family, school, etc.) take a hit, I would consider maybe stepping back a little. Generally though, as people mature, they understand balance much better. That is, even though they may play this game even 10 hours a day at times, they do so responsibly. Perhaps it's the weekend, they have the day off, etc. Anyways, just be smart how/when you play, common sense really isn't that hard to figure out. If you think you're playing too much, you probably are. Of course parents think that anything done for more than 1-2 hours at a stretch is crazy... this is of course your fault. YOU made them crazy when you were born; just enjoy that anytime they give you too much grief. <--All in good fun of course! :)

Jagex, update everything before you send it to the game....
Greedom1 replied to dude_of_war4's topic in General Discussion
I agree. There's no reason they couldn't update it when a new quest/minigame/whatever comes out. It's not really that huge of a burden. -
How long do you think it would take to..
Greedom1 replied to Defender2516's topic in General Discussion
a year to a year and a half with a 1500 total :-s i took me about half year to complete all the quests starting at level 3 Depends on your game style. If you're efficient/use all guides etc, obviously you can shorten it. I would say though for a decent player, about a year and a half seems a tad generous - I'll settle for 9 months. :) -

Greedom1 replied to Defender2516's topic in General Discussion
If you're crazy and play 20 hours a day, this post isn't for you. Given an 8-16 hour day of playing RS (which is still extreme), I would still say for all quests you'd need minimum 18-20 days. (about 3 weeks). This of course assumes that the player got all those pesky required items for those quests themselves. I could have cut down my M.E. part II quest time by at least 2 hours if I didn't have to go all the way around the RS map (twice!) to get all the dumb items. If a player had full item help (read: mules) and full stat requirements, put it at about 8-10 days then. It hasn't been proven, but I think that's a fair guess. Average player to get 232 qp (232 as of Jan 7 07), I would say a year to a year and a half (factor in about 1500 - 1650 total skill at this point as well). -
miniclip. I'm soooooo glad too - i don't think i would've lasted long with f2p's banner ads to start out with. Miniclip had (maybe still has) it's own layout/format which is much better imho for starting out. Also, I had all chats off for the first 3 months of play. Best move I ever made -- I enjoy the game immensely since I was never put off by taunts/gripes from f2p players. I turned it on (only by accident to buy a rune kiteshield off of these forums!) Here's to RS history :)

Excellent point. Think about when you first got your driver's license (in the US at least it's called this). You get out on the road, you are a dumb noob. Maybe you wreck, maybe you don't, after awhile you feel like you own the road. So now you've been driving 5, 10, even 20 years... scared - even upset by those dumb "noobs" like you once were... Except for the fact that a stupid squirrel/deer running in front of your car one day may make you swerve and become a "dumb noob" wrecking your car all over again. <--- The Runescape equivalent could be alching your whip, or other countless dumb actions. Moral of story: none. Play the game, ignore the noobs, and when you run into them, run over em and keep going! :)
