"rocking" is a bit of a stretch. ...though the "lobbies" "swordies" phenomenon isn't a surprise. Any phrase by itself may seem ridiculous but take the total of the items sold everyday and you will find that pluralizing them makes communication much easier. Many times the abbreviations help out our less than stellar spellars* #-o though any intentional shortening of a word has linguistic origins that are worthy of a research paper or two. This topic honestly should get more attention than it is likely to get -- please remind me to search a few JSTOR articles to jog my memory... * Just don't post. Just don't.

Bank: Nardah Gen Store: West Ardy seems like a good choice - I use all the others every now and then. Specialty Store: Rune shop on Lunar Isle... (the one that tries to run away from you!)

You are correct. =D> The obvious answer wins my respect.... But assuredly not my admiration, because disco is dead dude! :boohoo:

Half of the quests in this game have "no reason" for existing 2 weeks after their debut / or a player finishes it. This room, like many others in RS will be the focus of so much attention right now like a proverbial prom queen. In a month, no one will notice this lame room, nor the tower for that matter. <-- First one to call me out on this (pm's only) wins 100k. Date: March 17th. (It's St. Patty's Day, and I will mostly likely be drunk, so it may end up being 100 gp, so don't say you weren't forewarned...)

When your eyes are bleeding as much as they were, I'm sure it would be pretty tough. On topic, the game is definitely easier as you go along. However, Jagex most likely expected this from the very beginning as they made the highest levels some the most difficult to obtain. Sure 1-70 may seem like forever when you first start out, but 90-99 is a challenge for anyone in any skill. Sure, some skills are easier now because of updates (like cook-x), but think about it - they've made some of the newest parts of the game more difficult... do you have a fire cape? Killed the dagganoth kings lately? Or tried to level construction or farming without loads of cash or time?

As many others have said, these satchels and flasks seem somewhat worthless (only holds 1 cake, 5 bananas and a sandwich I think.) So they're not that good for agility training....

What world were you in btw?

Thanks - glad you like this idea. I really like your suggestion about the monk "blessing" the magic water. Though a bunch of dialogue boxes seems almost overkill. A simple right click "bless magic water" would suffice. And for those worried about herblorists profiting too much, perhaps it could cost 500-5k per blessing.

I agree with making perhaps the seconds untradeable, but not the finished potion. (Note the Super Poison with the nightshade being untradeable.)

This is an interesting idea, and far superior to the eye vomit that is Fally world 2. It still needs a lot of work, namely, how do you prevent folks from camping at these shops (you know it will happen) and then sub-leasing the spots out to other merchants (who cannot get an available spot). Also a mess of 200 shops is largely a waste of time. They should be grouped into sections that are more or less focused around skills or items. (As it sorta is already with the fally world 2 maps you find). Examples: Skills: Herblore (vials, herbs, 2nds) Fletching (logs, strings) Smithing (ores, bars) Crafting (hides) Prayer (bones) etc, etc. Items: Runes Food (hi / low, cooked/raw) Armor (dragon, rune, etc) Weapons (whips, dragon, rune) Barrows Items Barrows Sets Treasure Trails Rares etc, etc. --- It would then be up to the individual what category (or categories if there was a way to cross-list things) an individual wants to sell their items in. Anyways, with A LOT of major tweaking, I'll support.

Jekyll and Hyde - What herbs do you give him?
Greedom1 replied to Blackspells's topic in Help and Advice
ok i'll start over with what i know from this thread :-) Thanks - btw, Avantoe gives Super Att (4) (not super Str) :) -
Or, it could just be a way for mages to get easy help and herblorists to make huge amounts of cash really fast. Unless these were untradeable, this wouldn't require the mages to train other skills. I think that if the water was to be taken from the mage guild or prayer guild, the prayer guild would be much better, since pures would have to mess up in order to make their own pots. Personally these potions (and all potions) ultimately should be tradeable. Very few other skills have items that can be made but are ultimately untradeable. I know there are a lot of things about these potions that would probably be a financial windfall for some herblorists, however, herblore is expensive enough as it is to level up super high. I'm only lvl 83 and I've easily dropped 15 mill into it (haven't broken even yet). Personally I don't think the effect that these may have on some high level's bank accounts is a huge negative. If the potions are difficult enough to produce, remember time is money, and they'll sell according to the amount of work that goes into em (I'm assuming 15-20k per potion possibly). The second idea you have about pures needing to go to the prayer guild is an unintended benefit that makes them a bit more exclusive. Really I just think there is a natural need for these potions. How Jagex would implement them would naturally impact a lot of the concerns that may be raised, and we can only speculate at this time.

(reserved for any additional notes) I'm sure someone will point out suggestions that have the same effect using the mage skill to swap between Ancients / Modern / Lunar. First, I think this is a workable idea, but somewhat at odds with how Jagex designs the game. They intend skills to build off of others. The way I've described could impact how players use Magic by the introduction of an update to the training of the Herblore skill.

UPDATE: After the latest quest released on 5/15/07 - Dream Mentor - Jagex has effectively released a spell that makes these suggestions obselete. The spell is: Spellbook Swap (lvl 96) Change to another spellbook for 1 spell cast Astral x3, cosmic x2, law x1 (More info here: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=655351) Intro: I don't know how many of you get frustrated with using a particular mage style and not being able to simply use the benefits of other styles. Yes, house teleport tablets have allowed many to use Lunar or Ancients while still teleing to Modern Mage locations, but these are insufficient in my opinion. So my solution: Introduce three new potions into the game that upon drinking, a character's Mage Style changes accordingly. The three potions would be the Modern Mage Pot, Lunar Mage Pot, and the Ancient Magicks Pot. EDIT: Given several replies, I also argue that these should NOT be usable in the wilderness, or if you are skulled, or in combat. They should operate like the Home tele - they would take about 20-30 seconds to change the mage styles in regular areas and would not work at all in the wilderness. (So, please no more replies with "These will ruin pking." Because if they are used in the manner I just described, they would not ruin pking. Okay?) The Stats / Required Items: (Obviously not all of these exist at the time being, so use your imagination.) Level 84: Modern Mage Potion: A sip changes ones' mage to modern mage and there is no effect if already on Modern Mage. Vial: Empty vial filled with holy / magical water from monk's or mages guild : Either would work, but this would make it also sufficiently difficult to abuse. Herb: Cadantine: Only other use is for Super Defense at the moment. Seconds: Ground Giant Tortoise Shell: These are a semi-rare drop from the giant Tortoises above the gnome maze. (EDIT: The Dorgeshuun update on 3/20/07 has a use for these shells as you can sell them to a NPC. So it seems that Jagex is eliminating any future use for this item.) Level 87: Lunar Mage Potion: A sip changes ones' mage to Lunar Mage and there is no effect if already on Lunar Mage. (Must have completed Lunar Diplomacy Quest for effect to work.) Vial: Empty vial filled with holy / magical water from monk's or mages guild : Either would work, but this would make it also sufficiently difficult to abuse. Herb: Dwarf Weed: Only other use is for Ranging Pots at the moment. Seconds: Snapegrass* (WaterbirthIsland / Lunar): * If possible, Jagex could make the Blue Flower from the Lunar quest pickable and this could be substituted. Level 90: Ancient Magicks Potion: A sip changes ones' mage to Ancient Magicks Mage and there is no effect if already on Ancient Magicks Mage. (Must have completed Desert Treasure Quest for effect to work.) Vial: Empty vial filled with holy / magical water from monk's or mages guild : Either would work, but this would make it also sufficiently difficult to abuse. Herb: Torstol: Only other use is for Zamorak Potions at the moment. Seconds: Ground Crocodile Claws: These (the claws) obviously don't exist yet, but whatever the second for this should be somewhat difficult to obtain, but also relate to the desert (where Ancient's is normally located). Discussion / Uses in game: Personally I think these would be incredibly useful for people who play this game like me and want the advantages of certain mage styles without the hassle of changing them all the time. Obviously any update is going to have kinks, and this will not be any different. For one, it could completely change the nature of pking - theoretically allowing one or two people to successfully use (abuse?) the benefits of each mage style. This may even bring back solo pking in a big way. Possible fixes include: limiting the amount of time that an individual has to change their mage style (as in only once every half hour or so). Or to make it impossible to change while in the wildy and/or in combat. And lastly, considerations must be made with the herblore side of these pots in particular. Basically they should be sufficiently difficult to make to correspond with the value that these may have to the individuals using them. I've tried to come up with some ideas for levels required and seconds that achieve this, but of course Jagex could introduce something else into the game that could replace any of these. The inspiration for me posting this was NOT to dream up new ways that mages can own in the wild. Rather, it is to make herblore more interesting (especially for higher levels), and to make overall the other styles of mage more attractive to the general RuneScape community. Final Notes: I've tried to search for this on the suggestions forum, but didn't find anything. If there is a similar thread (expressing this same idea), please let me know. (I'll plan on editing this as any suggestions come in. Thanks~)

Jekyll and Hyde - What herbs do you give him?
Greedom1 replied to Blackspells's topic in Help and Advice
Don't trust runehq's guide to this - I want proof that two different herbs both give super strength potions (which doesn't make sense considering the rest of the data). Avantoe should give a Super Attack, not a Super Strength. Also the potions for guams, marrentills, and tarromin seem a bit out of whack as well. The other herbs all give the highest potion (4) of the herb below. Also there's no really good reason he wouldn't take torstol either. -
What do u think of the random events? Here's my opinion
Greedom1 replied to Buzz9's topic in Help and Advice
If you're close to a bank, give him a cadantine herb. He'll give you back a Super Restore (4) potion. (Worth at least 8-9k). If you give him other herbs, he'll give you various pots as well. If you're curious, just ask, it's something I've researched for awhile. Edit: I see a lot of other folks have done this for awhile. Anyone know if there's a place I could find with information on this? I know Runehq has a table with it, but some of their potion rewards are questionable as in two herbs give super strengths? Nevermind, found it here: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=609212 Anyways, just give him the cadantine. -
I consider myself an expert in the abyss, I have written a rather informative guide. That noting method I have found to be very slow, abyss will always be the fastest. I can do what I want. I can afford another d hide set and glory, it just takes an extra hour that I could spend getting an extra 200k. I have died only once before this incident via the abyss on my second ever trip, when I didn't take my one click teleport. Did I ever mention that I was mad at this pker for killing me? NO, I accepted it, I never blamed him for anything. I know the rules of the wilderness and don't need to be reminded. Obviously you didn't read the whole thing. This topic is about the kind person who gave me my items back. Please level up your reading skill. I did read the entire article, and the majority of my comments honestly were directed at the Tip community in general. It seems that a lot of folks that RC in the abyss spend a lot of time complaining about RC pkers as being scum. I was merely addressing that. My apologies if my comments were taken as an attack on you personally. Thanks~

Very nice of the guy, but if you're in wildy lvl 1+ you cannot blame a single soul for attacking you (not that you were, but many do). Regardless, if you seriously made thousands of natures, I'm sure you could have afforded another glory and dhide set (x 10). Gimme a break, but have people forgotten the noted ess/ store method? It's safe, relatively fast, and mad easy even for the lowest levels. People who abyss RC should expect the risks. That's all. It's why its in the bloody WILDY. Your's again, was not a rant, but a compliment, so again, kudos to the kind fellow who gave your stuff back. More should be like him, but if not, you shouldn't be upset...

I disagree with all of these. The helm change was a good idea, but if these items you mention were dropable, then you'll see mules intentionally selling fire capes, barrow gloves, rune defenders to people (and allowing them to pk these items). Scams would happen, more complaints - and overall this would ruin these minigames/epic quests and their rewards which is the whole point to them anyways. (The only reason I ever got into questing in the first place were the barrows gloves as the max reward from Recipe for Disaster.) EDIT: After reading the rest of the posts, clearly the fire cape should remain unwearable if you haven't finished the minigame. Other suggestions include the item being destroyed if dropped. I like these ideas a bit better. Anyways, good change Jagex. By the way, I know the Recipe gloves are mostly superior to cooking/goldsmith gauntlets, but nobody has mentioned these gaunts. In fact, you get em back for free...

RuneScape Levels and Experience formula
Greedom1 replied to Jard_Y_Dooku's topic in General Discussion
This really makes my leveling to 99 seem so much less heroic, sexy, and otherwise awesome and so much more... well... like counting from 1 to 99. (With some added flair thrown in of course.) Great, you just summed up billions of hours wasted, and millions of dollars in only a few lines of code.... :wall: Makes me think that maybe reading a book and seeing the sunshine does have value in it after all.... Nah! :notalk: Woot! Another level! (Thanks though for posting this - I'm sure it will help out some of the tip.it community.) -

Highest Rank Player without a 99 skill?
Greedom1 replied to Mordendravid's topic in General Discussion
Cannon gives half hp exp (from normal 1.33 per 1 slay exp) if I'm not mistaken, right? If so, then I suppose this is possible. BUT, he has all melee stats at 86 as well. These alone would give him 86 hp (unless PC has something that would allow gains in ATT, STR, DEF without a corresponding gain in HP). Is this the case? -
My Experience With The Strung Rabbit Foot
Greedom1 replied to Dino_Da_Gino's topic in General Discussion
Dino - thanks for this research. When the necklace first came out, I really thought it was going to be awesome for sara brews and the like... needless to say, I was horribly disappointed. After a much smaller sample, I decided it was garbage, and I soon went back to slaying and farming. Thanks again though! -
Highest Rank Player without a 99 skill?
Greedom1 replied to Mordendravid's topic in General Discussion
What I'd like to know is how Renez got 86 hp while also getting 86 slayer... How did he level slayer (86) to within only 7k exp from hp (86) when the ratio is 1.33 hp exp for every 1 exp for slayer? Thoughts? Is this the result of some massive hack or just insane gameplay, please discuss.
