im most likely gonna do flax since its cheap and has no other req, orbs takes too many supplies and walking and dhide takes a bit too long, any1 have anything to say to that? feel free to point out anything i may have missed Try gems - especially if you like thieving or want to level it. -Pick safes in Rogue's Den -Make into ammy's or rings -Alch the ammy's (not strs -- sell those in edgeville to pkers) -Mine gold either in crafting guild (slow) or in several of the good gold mines around RS. (Keldagrim mine if you need 500+) -Buy strings in ardougne or from other players. (try lunar ftw!) This isn't the fastest or best way to level crafting, but it's something. Plus you get thieving, mining, magic, and craft exp this way. I wouldn't suggest it for training, but you'll need dueling rings/rings of forging one day most likely. In your level range, gems and jewellry are still worth pursuing if you have em.

If you're going for lowest cost: flax to strings (you make a profit) Faster / cheap: soft leathers to coifs If money is no object, buy green hides (leathers if you're rolling in gp), and make to bodies, alch, repeat. well like soft leathers cost about 200 gp for 37 xp each green body alch for 4.6k-300(nat)-3(1.5k, the hides)-60(tan), thats about 300 gp cost for 168 xp, isnt that far better than doing soft leathers Yes it is. However, soft leathers don't give any alch exp as opposed to when you alch the green bodies. For your purposes, I would say coifs are the way to go as hides can be bought for 100 ea or so on f2p and tanned rather quickly... they weigh a TON less than dhides... Or you could buy them 200 each as leathers (I never did this myself, but would suggest it.) Don't forget that buying green dhides in bulk is hard to do in non-world 2 worlds... usually it's 1.55- 1.6 or so for bulk on forums. That said - grats on leveling crafting! (fyi, in my crafting adventures I've made over 30k coifs and over 20k tiaras... I got on the green hide wagon rather late in the game... 86+)

Well, given that I'm about 28k through the 35k or so hides I've been tanning, I figure now is a good time to ask... Is there an offical hide tanning (al kharid) world? This is for dhides, so would be members only. Lately I've been going to world 26 and seen one or two other tanners there as well. Any help would be appreciated. (as a side note, whatever world this is would also be a good world for non-crafters to go to get free 84+ crafting...)

Ok, any ideas? :)

Neither of these methods give any expansions to the herblore skill which is what these potions are all about. These just happen to be a new potion idea to make switching mage styles easier than you described. If Jagex wants to come out with something else in the 85+ herblore range, I'll welcome it.

Values? What do they mean and do you feel you have them?
Greedom1 replied to Greedom1's topic in General Discussion
Of course we live in a world of gray. My dichotomy of option A/B or 1/2 isn't rooted in the real world of course as morality and ethics always have overlaps and varying degrees. However, for purposes of my point, I feel they are still quite valid. (A bit of a tangent here...) As for your statements, note my sig. I mention my skill totals, quest totals, and other "accomplishments." It is included more for my own benefit rather than the rest of you all. Though the crafting, herb, and farming lvls do help out quite a bit on trades... Anyways, god knows that I read my own posts more often than the rest of you probably do. (I know I'm not alone in this.) Perhaps it's my own editorial style, or perhaps it's a touch of ego... however, note the link when you click on "View your posts." http://forum.tip.it/search.php?search_id=egosearch. -

Should We Have TRIMMED Quest Capes?
Greedom1 replied to runescapeloser22's topic in General Discussion
As much as I'd love to see a quest like this, I think something else is needed to make a trimmed quest cape. Unless the quest you speak of is about the equivalent of getting a fire cape, I think it'll be a joke. Even the hardest quests: RFD, DT, MEII, and say MM combined are barely close to that difficulty. -
vultures like carrion, rs noobs (and myself I will say) like random death piles. It's only a problem when the noob causes said pile by dubious means. In that case, someone deserves a serious thrashing... of the DK kind.

Nice find! =D> Edgar Allen Poe is rumored to have slept/drank in the local tavern/restaurant in my town. No word on whether he buried a tell-tale heart under the porch though... ;)

Alching/Dropping Rares: acceptable practice?
Greedom1 replied to vitaoma's topic in General Discussion
+1. Off-topic, but your point about "classes" in a way could be also extended to those who played the game early and often... leveling up certain skills (smithing) and earning millions in the process. This of course is back when a phat went for about the same cost as a rune baxe. I do agree with you, but any game (or even any business endeavor) favors the early participants. Early skills were created by persistence, stupidity (the graphics in RSC were awful ffs!), and of course a bit of luck. Rares are a bit of a stretch though at this point given their value. I will say that they're a bit of "insult to injury" now all things being considered. They make an uneven playing field even more uneven as they don't reward patience or solid gaming, but rather a moment in time back whenever. However, clearly Jagex is okay with this, and it does create a new wrinkle for many players in the game. Though it does encourage players to stomp those beneath them (staking) to attain a boatload of money to purchase one of these pretty little phats. -
Ugh. Clearly the debate forum isn't for me. Filled with posts that both entice, inspire, annoy, and overall frustrate me beyond belief. Focus on only a couple of points at a time folks! I enjoy lurking, and would like to comment but don't want to do so for a post that covers the bases about 4 times over. That said, all of you have your facts wrong. It's springtime outside, and most likely the weather will be nice in the next week. Take a step or two out the door, take a breath. Ahhhhhhh. Then come back in and you can feel free to debate the hell out of each other. At least you'll be refreshed.

Alching/Dropping Rares: acceptable practice?
Greedom1 replied to vitaoma's topic in General Discussion
Erm - alching/dropping rares isn't really something we can argue about here. Rares are not the driving force behind the RS economy, but rather their value is derived from it. If you're talking about the rare market, then of course "burning" or alching/dropping will have an effect. However, one person alching a phat will not change the value of coal/yews/etc. in game. I would have more to add but this thread is clearly going south in a big way soon. -
*cough* *cough* He asked about christmas crackers not christmas chisels. Though if you REALLY have 845 of em, loan me 5 or even 45... I'll trade some hot snazzy chisels... they're worth the same from the shop...

Should We Have TRIMMED Quest Capes?
Greedom1 replied to runescapeloser22's topic in General Discussion
In a way you're definitely right, though quests like Fairy Tale pt II (and fairy rings) make everything in RS easier... including new quests. But you do have a point there. Finishing all quests legitimately becomes harder as more are released. (I finished all quests about 4 months before the quest cape came out... and then finished them in succession until Hallowvale. Once they did come out, it took a bit as Darkness of Hallowvale wasn't a good motivator at all... kept me from getting the cape for about two weeks.) -
Should We Have TRIMMED Quest Capes?
Greedom1 replied to runescapeloser22's topic in General Discussion
How about this: Quest Cape for finishing all quests. (Tough, but not hard for a persistent player.) Mini-Game Cape for maxing out all minigames (could you imagine how hard this would be?) Quest + Mini Game = Both trimmed. Mining AND a Slayer cape would be easier than a mini-game cape... Here's what you'd need for the mini-game cape (in my opinion of course): -Barb Assault (Lvl 5 or 500+ points) -Bar Crawl -Castle Wars (2900 tickets or enough for Gold/Blue Armor... or more) -Champions (finish all challenge scrolls) -Chompy Hunting (4000 kills) -Gnome Ball (Score 5 goals) -Gnome Delivery (120 points on reward token) -Tai Bwo Wannai Cleanup (reach 100% approval) -Pet Care (have a grown cat) -Rogue Trader -Rogue's Den -Sorceress' Garden (would need be a change that would show you have completed all gardens) -Temple Trekking (finish rt 3... 5 times?) -Trouble Brewing (10k Pieces of Eight? or more..) -Thazzar Caves (Fire cape) None of these unless changes were made that showed you completed X amount of times in each "mini-game." -Barrows -Blast Furnace -Games Room -Kingdom Managing -Mage Arena -Mage Training (Full infinity is already a reward in itself, but it could be added) -Pest Control -Pyramid Plunder -Splitbark Armor (same as infinity) Now, if you were to take ALL of the requirements in the list above, it would take you a very, very, very long time. I would argue that fewer than 100 players (possibly less than a dozen?) would be even close to those at the present time. -
 They just added that page.... maybe today or yesterday. It wasn't there when I wrote my articles.. I again have a feeling Jagex is paying attention to what I'm doing. At any rate, talk is cheap. They (or their lawyers) can say whatever they wish, but things like the Handbook speak otherwise. I get the sense that Jagex's lawyers really aren't earning their pay. Yes, gaming is supposed to be a GAME but given the status of their game and their company, I have been consistently disappointed with the professionalism of their company. I know I'm straying a bit off-topic with this... Though as much as I know many appreciate Jagex's efforts to have a handle on the pulse of the gaming community (and fan sites as well), some of their communications (posts on forums, notices of new quests/content) are horribly unprofessional. Yes, I know it's a game and so the developers are allowed to be a bit loopy. However, there should be a big difference between the natural loopiness of the developers and the communication they have with their customers. If you think I'm splitting hairs, consider the absurdity of "official" Jagex policy being listed on the forums rather than being posted in the main game screen. Jagex is remarkable in their efforts to let us in on a lot of what they are doing. However, sometimes I'd rather be left in the dark and see more mature/professional communications from them. (In forums or otherwise.) Kudos to qeltar for pointing out in part 2 the problem about luring and their (initial) attempt to hide their official policy. Fine, Jagex may be filled with avid gamers, but they need to realize that they have responsibilities for even the youngest and stupidest of us, no matter how much they want to believe otherwise.

I must say at the least that Part 2 was much less whiny than Part 1... It's nearly impossible to respond to all of the author's points with any definitive point of view as several were spot on and others were full of holes. As much as I'd like to, I think the time I'd spend on a post responding to his article would be a total waste. Perhaps a new Article part II thread will reinvigorate this topic? (Btw if one has been posted, please let me know as I would disagree with a mod locking a new thread that is focused on part II... I'm considering creating a new one given that this thread pages 3-7 are a bit frustrating to get through.)
