CD-RW Drive Problems
Well if it boots DSL fine and not puppy linux then it's a problem with the puppy iso or the way you burned it.

Runescape for a console
Well they were most defently lying about playing runescape on a psp. The psp does not support Java, does not meet the minimum requirements, and does not have a high enough screen resolution.

~ All Kinds of Crashes Every Few Minutes? ~
You don't need a super G wireless adapter because it would be no good with your current wireless network. You would need to have a super G router to be able to use a super G wireless card. A suggestion for people trying to help people next time: Don't help if you don't know what your talking about. You almost cost this person money on something that will be no better than what he currently has. Anyway to the OP, it sounds to me like some interference is on the channel. Try changing the wireless channel in the router's settings. To get there type in "192.168.1.1" on the computer that is wired to the router.

Video Card question
Nope, there is no such thing as external video cards. The 502mb of ram is 512mb but some is probably used for the graphics card. You could possibly upgrade your ram to 1GB to make your games more playable. The Wow thing you may be able to fix with a simple driver update. Intel has greatly improved their drivers in the last 2 months. Download from here.

The reason I'm asking this is because I'm unsure what to do. My school does not offer any and I would like to take some computer programming course, but I am not sure what to take. I'll be using an online course. EDIT: I looked up a bit on Java online courses, but with that, I'm not sure where to begin. Is there a good starting place with Java, or does anywhere work? Well it depends which way you want to go in coding. If you want to go with webpages then you want html, phpbb, and javascript among others. Or if you want to you want to make programs and other things you can learn C, C++ (note: different languages), visual basic and a lot of other languages (named the most popular off the top of my head). I say before you take any specific language course you take an introductory to programing course to show you the basics and how to do coding in any language.

How do i screenshot videos?
Well if your trying to screenshot a video in Windows media player, then you can't. It's there to prevent people from copying them. You may be able to screenshot in other video players, you will need to look into that.

67c is getting up there, but ti should be fine for a laptop because there suppose to withstand more heat. Your laptop may have a function to shutoff your computer at 70c to prevent damage. You can go into the bios and change that, but it's not recommended. What processor do you have?

My Video's Keep Going Weird!
Windows media player may just be rendering the video wrong because of a bad codec. You can download a codec pack that may fix it. Download from here

sounds like the battery is nearly dead mate. From what you are saying, when you open up more system dependent tasks that take a hold of resources your laptop dies correct? if it just goes *ping* dead it's a good guess your battery is nearly dead and isn't supplying enough power wattage to keep the system at that level. also the fact that your wireless isn't being given enough juice to boost it's single is another sign and on top of that the cell age is 6 years old. Re-place the cell (E-bay it) if you are sure it's not software causing the crashing, i doubt it though and also does it run fine if you just leave it on, not plugged into the mains or in use? Thanks, thats very helpful-not that I'm glad to hear it. Do you have any idea what the price range would be? Also, what do you mean by "i doubt it though and also does it run fine if you just leave it on, not plugged into the mains or in use?" I don't really understand what you are saying there. Thank you. I have some doubts about it being the battery. Did you try my advice about the overheating? Also download the program called speedfan and post your temperatures here. Does it still shutdown when you have it plugged in? If so, then it's not the battery.

Crysis Demo
I downloaded it and played it. The graphics are amazing even on medium settings. The game play was decent but was really up to me expectations and the hype. It's really like a Farcry with better graphics and set in the future.

Good for RS?
That computer is perfectly fine for runescape. If the game is running lag free (which it should be with those specs) then you don't need it faster and you probably wouldn't notice the speed improvement anyway. Runescape is more based on internet speed (ping time, not bandwidth) than your system specs.

My Video's Keep Going Weird!
Have you tried re-installing you video card drivers? It may be your video card overheating or malfunctioning. Have you tried playing the video in another video player? Do other videos work? What are your system specs?

.
thats probably the main reason. If your going to post then atleast post something helpful. I have seen and used many computers past 6 years old and they worked perfectly fine. Anyway, it sounds to me like overheating. Try cleaning out all the air vents with compressed air and make sure nothing is blocking or covering them.

Question about cpu usage and anti spy ware software
Well your cpu may be normal, it may be not. You did not tell us what you were doing when your usage was like this. If your computer was idle when it was using 50% then thats not normal, but if you had programs open or were playing a game it could be very normal. For the virus/spyware programs above, they are all good but please note that hijackthis is not an automatic spyware remover and you have to check what you want to remove manually. It shows both good and bad processes so don' remove everything.

Random unexplained problems [Resolved]
Well your supposed to have no errors on any test at all. So I would say it's bad ram. Open up your computer and see how many memory sticks you have. If you have more than one take them all out but one, run the test and keep doing that until you find the bad one. Test them all just incase more than one is bad.

You choose. AMD vs Intel.
That made no sense at all. If I get what your saying is that Intel has better processor compatibility with the motherboard. This is not true, AMD is better for that because it doesn't rely on the chipset for compatibility like Intel.

what is wrong with my comp? should i just upgrade?
Oh great we have a troll. Seriously, go take your fanboy nonsense someplace else.

You choose. AMD vs Intel.
This has a lot of factors you need to look at. Like price to performance ratio. Currently AMD and intel are tied for this or AMD is a little better in some price ranges. Intel currently has the performance crown in the upper division of processors like the E6800 and the Q6800 because AMD has no offering in the price ranges right now. All of this may change with AMD's new phenom processors coming out very soon, which include tricore and quad core processors (tricore will be out in january, the rest in november I believe). Now this is the desktop I was talking about, but in the laptop section, it's very different. Currently Intel is winning with laptops because AMD doesn't have too many processors to choose from. With AMD all they really have is the Turion models so they don't really have a budget, midrange and high end chips. With Intel you can get the whole thing like the Celeron (budget), Core duo (mid), Core 2 duo (high end).

Well if I remember correctly from school that error means faulty ram. Download the program Memtest86 and run it over night and post back what it finds.

Random unexplained problems [Resolved]
Still not that hot for a Pentium D. They can be up to 70c without worry.
-
Random unexplained problems [Resolved]
Nope, and those are not hot. For the guy thats going to be coming in and saying I'm wrong that his idle temp is high, well, it is, but the full load temp is not and that is what matters.
-
Random unexplained problems [Resolved]
Well not every tech guy knows what he's doing. Did he atleast check if it was overheating? Chances are when he replaced the motherboard he cleaned the dust and put new thermal paste on the processor which kept it from overheating, until now. Download the program Speedfan and post your idle (when the computer is doing nothing) and your full load temp (such as running a game) It also may be faulty ram. Download Mentest and burn it to a cd. Then you need to boot from that cd and run the program overnight and see if it brings back errors.

earphone plug problem
Try to re-install the device drivers. After that go through the sound control panel and make sure everything is set correctly. Ditto on back up your data before sending it in. You might not get the same laptop back. With the data snooping he was talking about, yes it does happen but it's usually done by 3rd part support people. At the manufacturer's factory they don't have time to snoop because of the large quantities of computers.

what is wrong with my comp? should i just upgrade?
Well if you didn't have an anti-virus or anti-spyware running and you got a virus, then it's not the firewall's fault, plain and simple, don't argue back (because I know you will). There's plenty of other things I could argue with you about but it's not worth it because you will not listen. Come on man, suggesting Nortan over Bitdefender?

what is wrong with my comp? should i just upgrade?
Well since you formatted you kinda didn't need the Hijackthis log :P . Well since you posted it, I looked at it and theres nothing wrong. Your internet speed is not fast, but it's fine for Runescape. Windows firewall is usually good enough for most people but others will suggest to get a different one. If you do decide to get a different one, Zonealarm is an excellent free one.
