My computer is extremely slow
The system idle process does exactly the opposite of what you think it does. The idle process does not use that much cpu, it basically shows you how much is available. For instance if the idle process is using 90% then you have 90% of your available cpu resources and your computer is currently using the other 10%.

what is wrong with my comp? should i just upgrade?
It's http://www.speedtest.net  . I also think it's a software issue. That computer is still pretty fast, it would have no trouble running Runescape.

Which computer is better? UPDATED
Almost (if not) all processors out now are 64bit. A 64bit processor can run in 32bit or 64bit depending on the operating system. Most likely the operating system that comes pre-installed will be 32bit for compatibility.

Which computer is better? UPDATED
The laptop is better on everything besides the hard drive. If your trying to use this computer for highschool and college (a total of 8 years) then don't plan on it. Any computer you buy now will be totally out dated in 8 years time and possibly unusable for most work by then. Think of 1999 computers now. The monitor has an awful response time. This one is a bigger screen size and better response time for $10 more.

Untubu Setup-NEW QUESTION!
Well it was easier calling it an emulator than explaining what it really is. I didn't want to go into technical jargon and then have somebody argue that it technically would be and all of that.

Untubu Setup-NEW QUESTION!
Well Wine is the best Windows emulator on Linux. Make sure those programs work under Wine by checking on the website here. Although there are numerous alternative programs to do what those programs do.

Vista game compatibility issues
There are very few games that will have issues with Vista. They are either fixed by using compatibility mode or by a patch. All new games should be built for Vista and have no problems. All Steam games work under Vista, including Half Life2.

what internet provider /connection to get?
Um cable internet is usually better for gaming, it's usually faster all around (ping, down and up). For gaming you don't need fast download/upload speeds, it's more about ping time. What you say cable does is true but that can be better than what DSL does as to how far you are away from the central hub is how fast your connection is.

How do I Convert protected WMA. music files into MP3?
Winamp can convert wma files to mp3. Winamp can not convert protected wma files. Hence why they are protected. Protected means that they have drm in them so they can not be modified and can only be used with one device. For example Itunes drm songs will only play with itunes or the ipod (only songs you buy from the itunes store would have the drm). WinAmp 2.8x series or later should be able to circumvent this due to technology types. Good ol' diskwriter plugin would convert to '.wav', if I don't miss my memory. ~Mr. Devnull No it wont. Read up on drm and you will understand why it can't. If it were that simple do you really think people would be complaining about drm restrictions? Merciful gave the only way to get around this and it's illegal in most countries, which is why he could not provide a link. It may not even work anymore because Microsoft patches the drm every so often.

PS3 Wii or 360 !!!!!!
Then they correct it when official numbers come out. They could be off as much as 1million units so people should take those numbers with a gain of salt. I could be wrong, I read that this is what they do on their forums like 6 months ago.

Mac on a PC? is it at all possible?
Well you can boot OSX on a pc, but not easily. You can not just go to the store, buy it and pop in the disk and click install. If you want to try and install OSX on a pc and have enough time on your hands you can try this. This is the only way to do it (that I know of). http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page You can install Mac OSX on a blank hard drive but the hard drive has to be in a mac computer  . The reason OSX will not install on a normal PC is complicated and you probably don't care for me to explain it.

Which Linux Distribution?
Ubuntu is my distro of choice. Ubuntu is coming out with a major new release in 2 days so I would defently try it when the new version is out.

Ipod help
What videos are you watching that 56kb/s is normal? 300kb/s is a lot more normal, 400-500kb/s is ideal for the ipod but it will take a lot more space per video. Some people would argue that a lot higher than that is normal of upwards of 700kb/s. A general rule of thumb would be a 2 hour video takes up 450MB of space, using 500kb/s which would be very good quality on an ipod.

New gaming mouse
Those are all good mices that I have been looking at but they are all right handed. I don't really care if it's wireless or not but if it's wireless then I would like a rechargeable battery.

New gaming mouse
Well I need a new gaming mouse since mine is getting old. There is one problem, I want a very good one (better than my current mx510) and it has to be left and right handed, I don't care if you need to put a face plate (like a new logitech I saw) or you can just use it both ways.

Lil' question
Yes they can. External hard drives can work the same way as an internal drive.

Internet Not Responding
Eh, wait... you're trying to run Norton and NOD32 at the same time? ... I don't mean this in a rude tone, but apparently you didn't catch what I said about NOD32 clearly enough, so I need to spell this out well...: Norton can not be running while NOD32 is. THEY WILL CONFLICT!!!!! Put simply, block Norton from starting up at all temporarily, and fully unleash NOD32 against any threats to your PC. NOD32 will not fail to catch any threats if they exist. : ... Just one tip, don't let NOD32 disturb Norton's quarantine folders while Norton is down. Other than that, everything should run well. Good luck, and let me know what happens. ~Mr. D. V. Devnull What are you a talking advertisement for NOD32? It's not God's given gift you know.

Faster Internet, Graphics Card?
Well your ping is fine in that. It maybe speedtest's server. Try it with different sites like runescape and bbc.
-
Faster Internet, Graphics Card?
First try this: Go to start > run > type "cmd" type this in (without quotes): "tracert -d http://www.google.com" Then post a screen shot of the whole thing so we can look at where the lag is coming in.

Project Falcon - The new generation of Xbox 360's
Not as much as people think. On the internet you see it a lot more because people always complain about broken consoles. You never see a person post something saying "My 360 works fine."
-
Faster Internet, Graphics Card?
Well a graphics card will not make Runescape run any faster. Runescape runs almost solely on the processor. Your internet is fine for Runescape, except for the ping. No broadband internet should have that ping. There has to be something wrong. Try re-setting your modem and router. If that doesn't work, call your ISP up and see whats wrong.

PS3 Wii or 360 !!!!!!
Right so the 360 is the only console with expensive addons  .

streaming question
Well to add to what darkblade said. If you have a hard cap on your download limit per month I would suggest downloading them if your going to watch them more than once. If not, you will need to re-download the video everytime, which will eat up your bandwidth.
