  1. You probably removed your sound drivers/program, you will need to reinstall it. Find out what the model number of your device is and who makes it. Go to their website and download the correct drivers.
  2. You could get by with playing it on low settings at 1024x768. Make sure you patch the game before even starting it. The game was very buggy and with the newest patch it has become a lot more stable.
  3. ^^^^ Any source on that information?
  4. Are you sure your using this one?
  5. I assure you, with the programs posted above, you can't get too much more secure. I don't think Norton could do a better job than those, it may even do it worse. If you insist on wasting your money Nod32 is a good virus scanner it cost about $30. For anti-spyware Ad-aware and Spybot are the best programs that are free or paid for. Ad-aware does have a Pro version with ad-watch I guess can be more secure and slow down your PC just like all of the other money programs.
  6. I actually looked at Crysis, but then when I saw the system requirements, I went looking for other games :P I don't know much about system requirements, but I could tell a laptop wouldn't run that game very well :anxious: I'll check out the laptops specs when I get it, and post them here so you guys can help me find a game that's fun and runs smoothly :) google. System requirements lab. Did you even read what you quoted? He doesn't have the laptop yet so he doesn't know the specs of it.
  7. Get COD4, it's a must have. Crysis is also very good, make sure your laptop can support it first, it has high system requirements.
  8. You asking if Norton is anyu good is going to cause WWIII on this forum...... Anyway, you may not be able to get free software that can all of that in one, but you can get free programs that will do all of those things. Antivirus: AVG Free here anti-spyware: Ad-aware and Spybot here and here Firewall: Zonealarm free version here Anti-phishing: IE& and Firefox both have antiphishing built into them I believe. So upgrade to IE7 if you haven't already. EDIT: Joe you beat me to it, oh well, I included links :P .

Thats a very good computer for that price. It comes with 2GBs of ram which will suit your needs perfectly with all of the media stuff you want to do.
  10. Are the games fully patched?
  11. It sounds like a driver problem to me. Those two games that aren't working are newer games and probably need driver updates to work (I believe Bioshock had a problem like this). Download the newest drivers from http://www.nvidia.com and then try to play it. Whoever suggested that his card is overheating and suggested speedfan :shame: . Speedfan does not show the gpu temperature, he would need to use the program RivaTuner.
  12. I can understand something like Halo 3 ok underage, but GTA is one of the exceptions I have...on the news one day, an 8-year-old kid went out in the streets in real life after playing Vice City and shot a real police officer. :shame: Oh please Jack Thompson has gotten to you (wiki it if you don't know who he is). Just because he played the game doesn't mean he got the idea from the game to shoot a cop. Most people can play the game and realize that it's just a game. If they can't, they need some physiological help, which the game is not at fault for.
  13. Of course, the reason I saying all of this is not to be a **** but to help you. It would be a waste of everybody's time to look at a log like that. Make sure the definitions are updates on the scanners before using them.
  14. First of all, you don't need to post a new thread, use the same one. Second of all you didn't do what I asked, you need to scan for spyware and viruses BEFORE you post a log, I know you didn't, so don't say otherwise. If you remove the entries from here without removing the rest with ad-aware and spybot you will have problems. If you actually want to fix a computer, that is what you have to do.
  15. You need to read the whole thread before you post :P .
  16. No. don't be lazy, you will not remove the spyware that way. For you wanting answers to an old version of a hijackthis log is one thing but for you wanting to ask for what to remove on a log that size and for the amount of spyware you have is crazy.
  17. First of all go to Windows update and update your Windows for the latest patches and install Internet Explorer7 because version 6 has more security holes. Then download the new 2.02 Hijackthis from here. After that download Ad-aware and Spybot and scan for spyware. Then scan for viruses (if you don't have a scanner, AVG is a good free one). Then after all of that post a new hijackthis log (with the new version). You definitely have spyware on this computer.
  18. composite would be better than VGA for your tv to hook up the 360 (plus the 360 doesn't have a vga port). If you do have an HDMI port, use it, it will give better picture, but component will give you HD also. VGA A conversion kit would do nothing because you can't take a lower quality source and get a better picture out of it. To find what HD you have you need to look at the resolution such as 1280x720 (768 for widescreen) would be 720p and 1080 would be 1920x1080 and "p" is progressive (mostly lcds and plasmas) and "I" would be interlaced (tube/crts).
  19. It's probably just a computer scanning IPs trying to find an unpatched computer to exploit, it happens all of the time and is usually nothing to worry about if you keep your Windows patched, have a virus scanner and a firewall.
  20. You just raising the security in internet explorer (version 6 too, when the newest and safest version is 7) is not going to help with too many viruses, if any at all. How do you know those programs are keyloggers? Even if they are, you just unchecking them is not going to work, they will probably just start up anyway because they are not easy to get rid of. The proper way to remove a keylogger is to scan with your antispyware and virus programs and remove them that way. So let's see, you are telling people to have better security but you don't have the newest version on internet explorer which has more security holes, gave information that will not stop a keylogger but convince novices that they are safe and all of your pictures are not in English on and English speaking forum.
  21. Ditto, do not get refurbished. It would be a great laptop if it wasn't refurbished :P .
  22. Did it say getting list from master server up the top? If it did, the master server was having problems at that time, it should have been fixed by now. Here's another stupid question, at the top is it set for internet and not local? when I came to the server menu, there was an empty list. i made sure it was set on internet. I wated and nothings happining, so I clicked the refresh button. now its saying "waiting for response from master server" every time i refresh, and nothing happens. I'll try waiting a bit to see, but any other solutions? May be your firewall, disable it and check again (make sure to re-enable it afterwards). I had this problem the 2nd day when the game came out but that was a problem on their end and is now fixed.

  24. What is prestige mode? I have heard people talking about it in COD4 but still don't know what it is. Anybody know what the highest level that you can reach is?
