  1. LCDs can have screen burn in but it's different than plasmas. You can fix the lcd screen problem. This has happened to me before when I disabled my screensaver and the wallpaper was burnt in. Use Jscreenfix. Turn off the screensaver completely and let this run for a couple of hours (make sure the monitor does not turn itself off either). http://www.jscreenfix.com/basic.php Press f11 to run it in fullscreen.
  2. Heh, I'm using 3 sticks of 1Gb as well, plus I'm using my flash drive for extra memory just because I'm running Vista. I've got a second flash drive but the damn thing is too slow to be used for extra memory :wall: You can only use one flash drive for readyboost at a time anyway.
  3. Well what have you tried to fix this from suggestions from the last thread? This will help us to not suggest the same things again.
  4. Touching the metal part of a screw driver is not grounding yourself.
  5. Forget about the mac address, if he knows how to hack wep passwords he can certainly bypass a mac filter.
  6. Or you just skip the wireshark thing and just secure the router with WPA which is very hard to crack. Seriously if you just secure it with wep and use a mac filter to only filter out the hacker, I could still get in under 10mins. I'm not just saying this either, me and every other person who knows how to use google could get in with a wep secured router. WPA would take weeks of brute forcing to get in.
  7. Cruiser already said how to get back into the router. Press the pin hole on the back of the router to reset the configuration. This will then change the password to the default one.
  8. Newegg had a sale last week, 750Gb 7200RPM hard drive for $100  . Too bad I didn't have any cash to take up the offer. Holy  ! I have an 100GB hard drive on my laptop, only used up 15GB. What could you possibly use 750GB for? Hidef movies and video editing are what is using up a lot of my space. Then another 95GB in installed programs. Not counting virtual machines in Vmware and my music collection.
  9. Well a movie maker project file is not a movie. You need to export the project to a movie file type. Click "publish movie" under the file tab and then upload that file.
  10. XP drivers: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_175.16_whql.html Oh and D_V this should have nothing to due with ram voltage. If it's overvolted it will either work exactly the same or crap out, depending on how much more voltage you are giving it. If you said bad ram, that would maybe make a little more sense. I currently have my ram overvolted with no problems.
  11. Well I've never heard of a purple screen of death so I'm going to take a shot in the dark. Try updating your graphics drivers. http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x ... _whql.html
  12. Well space could be going to system restore. Go to disk cleanup to remove old system restore points. Start> all programs> accessories> system tools> disk cleanup Then when you get there go to the "more options" tab and click cleanup under system restore. (path may not be exact under windows xp). System restore can take up to 6GB on a 40GB disk. You can also disable system restore entirely, but I don't recommend it. That's the only thing that I can think of that could be taking up storage that you don't know about. You can also use the program Spacemonger to see what is using all your storage. http://www.sixty-five.cc/sm/v1x.php
  13. That would explain a lot. 5fps sounds kind of normal for Intel graphics. I would still upgrade the drivers but it still may not be able to play CS. Click software and driver downloads from the left hand side of the link you provided. Now since this is a small case you may have a problem with getting a full sized graphics card. It says it does have a pci-express slot but you may need to look for a low profile card. The ram you need is 200pin laptop ram also.
  14. A link would have been helpful in my last post. :P Windows XP http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_175.16_whql.html Windows Vista http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x ... _whql.html Download and install.
  15. What port is your monitor plugged into? You may be plugged into the onboard graphics and have been using that all of this time. You should not be getting5fps with a 7500LE, Counterstrike is not a very demanding game. You may need to upgrade the drivers, but do the above first, just to make sure.
  16. To the OP: my impression is that you already have a 7500LE installed. This should be able to play counter strike already, no need for an upgrade. It sounds like you also have onboard (judging by the link from Nadril). Make sure your monitor is plugged into the bottom video port (near the bottom of the computer).
  17. If you don't know what Style XP is then why are you posting on a thread with a question about it? Your just spamming. There is also a tool called Google. To the OP: I don't really get your question. Are you trying to change the background to be different on different displays and Style XP is keeping it the same? If that's the case I use a program called Ultramon which can change screensavers and wallpapers independently of the other monitor.
  18. http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp Use this to determine how many watts you need for your system. I would also add 50-100 watts more than the minimum for expansion and stableness (no clue if that's a word).
  19. DDR was not a prototype it was the memory standard for years, like DDR2 is the standard now. DDR2 is faster than DDR and uses 240pins DDR is slower than DDR2 and uses 184pins
  20. Well it's officially released but the website crashed or it is going very slowly. It will not load for me. I would suggest everybody to wait and download it from the official site so it will count.
  21. There's no way it would. You will need to upgrade your psu also. I don't even know how it's powering that 7600.
  22. Right click on the desktop > click personalize > click change desktop icons on the left > check recycle bin > click apply
  23. Well svchost can be pretty much anything on Vista. It's a generic process that Vista uses to run services. Is this noticeable slowing or are you just thinking it's slowing down the computer because of all the hard drive activity? If it's the later then it's probably just superfetch working to cache your programs. You can turn that off but I would not recommend it because it will make Vista a lot less responsive.
  24. No it wont. If your monitor did not come with a dvi cable then you will need to buy one. Or if your current display is hooked up by vga (d-sub) then you can just use that because the card comes with a vga to dvi adaptor.
  25. Yes you will be able to. The 9600gt has two dvi ports. DVI would be the better choice for picture quality also.
