  1. You didn't update your graphics card driver did you? Which Nadril does mention in the first post ;) . http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_ ... l&lang=eng
  2. Card looks fine to me. To the OP: When you said you tried updating for graphics card driver it sounded like you did this through device manager, which can work but you should download it from the manufacturer's website. download and install this driver. http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catal ... egrated-xp
  3. This will just prevent the pc from going into hibernation. If you don't put the computer into hibernation then you can safely delete it. You can always re-enable it if you do have a problem. 2.87GB is not a lot for todays computers. Since you have 3GB of ram you probably have a 250GB+ hard drive so 2.87GBs is minimal.
  4. Even if your on a tight budget and don't need a super machine I still recommend a dual core processor (any will do), 1GB of ram, and and any dedicated graphics card if all you want to do is play Runescape HD (you could even get by with onboard). This shouldn't be too expensive if your looking on ebay.
  5. Are you sure it doesn't meet the minimum requirements? It could just be a software issue. Post your laptop specs here just to see.
  6. The pci slot on your laptop is a mini-pci which is for wireless cards and other such add-on devices. You can not upgrade the graphics card in most laptops.
  7. It's $300 USD but now I realized you are probably looking at AUD so it's probably out of your price range. The 4850 would be a good choice then. Thats $200 USD, no clue on the AUD price.
  8. I would say that's normal. On slower to medium range graphics cards like your's, they will say something like 256MB on board (supports up to 1GB) or something like that. This pretty much means that your graphics card has 256mb graphics ram but can borrow from the physical ram if it needs more (which it shouldn't). I noticed that you graphics driver is really old, if you update it the problems may go away. http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catal ... on-vista32
  9. Go with the ATI 4870 it's way faster than the 9800gtx. It's even faster than the new Nvidia GTX 260 and it's cheaper.
  10. You could try it but I don't think it will work. It wouldn't mess anything up because you can just delete the folder is you have problems.
  11. D V you can't be serious. You set up to allow of deny cookies per site? Cookies are completely safe, allowing all cookies might fix the problem instead of going through all of that. Besides, that's the settings that most people already have on.
  12. I don't see where he said he was running 64bit. 64bit can also run everything that a 32bit can without problems. Infact I have been running 64bit Vista for a year for my gaming computer with no problems.
  13. Sot the solution to a slow computer is to reformat? Your not going to give any other advice that could fix the problem without a format? This is just the lazy way most of the time. Most likely if somebody is having graphics problems it's with the driver (like the 10 threads that a driver has fixed their problem already) and having them format from the recovery problem is just going to install the same driver that's already on the system. I don't get how cleaning the outside of the case will fix any problem with a computer.
  14. Wow that was helpful. Update your driver. vista http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_96.85_2.html xp http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_175.16_whql.html
  15. http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_ ... l&lang=eng That's the driver for your graphics card. Download and install it. I'm guessing it's a desktop computer, because that's the drive I gave you. If it isn't do not install the above.
  16. http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_96.85_2.html This should do it.
  17. Apparently, the Express Chipset Family likes to go insane with graphics, but that's not really it's fault -- it's not made to be a card in the same league as an NVIDIA or AMD/ATI card. This is a fix that I found on the RSOF. At this point in time, it might be your best option. QFC: 25-26-58-57063582 I have the same integrated graphics on my laptop and it can play the new detail perfectly fine. Without and special fix. It probably needs a driver update. It sounds like you don't have a driver at all with that message.
  18. You shouldn't see much of a difference with AA on. It would be a waste of money to buy a dedicated card just for that when you can play the new detail fine. Integrated graphics card support AA, just not yours. Before you people post, check your facts.
  19. Make sure your anti-virus and other protection is disabled and you are installing this on an administrator account. BTW I would suggest SP3 since it's newer and you will probably be prompted to update to that after SP2 anyway. Go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and download sp3.
  20. Well speedfan doesn't read graphics card temperatures. Those would be your motherboard northbridge, hard drive, and your cpu temps. The "core" temp is probably your northbridge, this generally runs hotter than the processor (depending on the chipset). 60c maybe fine for this. Idle temps really don't mean too much, you need to look at full load temps. 65-70c would be the maximum temp I would recommend for the northbridge and the processor. 50-55c for the hard drive maximum. If you want to find out your graphics card temps then download ATItool for ATI cards or Rivatuner for Nvidia cards. This only applies if you have a dedicated card, this will not work for onboard graphics.
  21. Most of the time they have 2 fans. 1 on the bottom (when the psu is mounted) and one in the back. I have never seen a fan on top, that would be silly, it would be blocked by the top of the case.
  22. Try updating the drivers. http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catal ... ed-vista32
  23. What browser are you using? Firefox I have noticed is having a few problems. Try using Internet explorer.
  24. It's a little buggy but it should not be doing the above. I was playing fine earlier on my laptop with intergrated graphics. I would try to download the newest driver and make sure you have the latest Java. Java updates are a lot more important for the new detail mode than before.
  25. It doesn't matter. DVI is clearer but you shouldn't notice a difference. If the monitor can use dvi, use it instead of vga.
