  1. Yeah I used to have my PC hooked up directly to my TV but I've actually got better results out of the same PC streaming to a PS3 via PS3MS. The only problem is with .mkv and subtitles, sometimes it doesn't like to work correctly. I usually have to get the subtitles separate and let the media server find external subs. Can be a little annoying when it doesn't work since it is much easier to get them to work on a PC.
  2. Oh I thought they just debunked the purgatory theories, they were big during season one. And yep, I was thinking alternate universe type of thing going on, so they were alive in both hell and heaven (their counterparts back in the real world aka "heaven" seem to have things go more right for them than normal). Anyone else here go to /tv/? It is really pissing me off having to avoid all the Lost threads because they are full of foilers and spoilers.
  3. Because some people like me are agnostic. Logical burn. That's what I meant by undecided. I almost wrote undecided/agnostic but figured it was implied.
  4. I don't like not reading an entire topic before posting, but with that wall of text and my response not being related to it, I am going ahead and just posting. The topic title says all theist and atheist TIFers, isn't everyone one or the other (or undecided) meaning you want everyone to look at this topic? Why don't you just say everyone?
  5. I actually have to disagree with this. There are tons of different ways and devices to hook up your computer to your TV. Personally I use a PS3, it might work with Windows Media Center in Win7 but I haven't tried it yet. Easier to just use PS3 Media Center. X-Box 360 I know works with WMC, so if you have that you are golden. I don't know if you would count game consoles as dedicated media player systems or not.
  6. Umm, yeah they made those pretty obvious. Fake Locke even mentioned them. I actually liked this episode a lot, maybe just because of coming off of last weeks boring as hell episode. Although I have a theory now about what the island is and I don't really care for it all that much, hope they don't go that way. It's not a spoiler, just a theory, but spoiler tags anyways: EDIT: Also where is the spoiler tag button?
  7. Brands are pretty much the same. Every brand has good models and bad models. Don't pick a hard drive just from the brand, look at reviews to see how well that model is doing.
  8. I turned it off the first day. Checked out what it was for like 2 minutes, found out it was basically just another social networking tool and turned it off.
  9. Man I used to only use that site a long time ago but I couldn't remember the name of it for the life of me when I was looking for RAM a few weeks back. Although checking it out now I still would have just ordered from newegg since newegg is cheaper.
  10. It's also open source if you want to check it out and compile it yourself. But I wouldn't bother since it is clean.
  11. Twelve Monkeys - Terry Gilliam's best work. Yes, better than the Monty Python stuff, Fear and Loathing, Brazil, all of it. He didn't write 12M like the others so maybe it shouldn't count. Still it is an awesome movie. I actually started out watching the commentary, but they weren't all that interesting and I really wanted to see the movie again apparently. So about 10 minutes in I started over.
  12. There will be no problem getting a hard drive that small, it will probably be pretty cheap also. I picked up a 320gig for $50. You can double that price and hit 1TB easily.
  13. Yes I did. It's not that hard to upload a picture to imageshack, don't know why you are having such a problem with it.
  14. Yay for avoiding this topic since July so I don't see any spoilers. Finished my second playthrough of ME2, first time through went paragon female soldier Shepard on normal difficulty and second time through went renegade male adept Shepard on hardcore difficulty (started on insanity but gave up, probably could have done it had I not chose the stupidest extra power possible). Both were from ME1 saves (only difference was male Shepard was a sentinel instead of adept). Ended up with a save of both profiles with no losses of teammates. In the renegade playthrough I did let the Normady's crew die rather than send a teammate back with them since it was the renegade option, even though there is really no reason at all you couldn't spare a teammate at that point. I guess unless you decided not to finish the game before you went into the suicide mission. There are a few factors that determine whether or not your teammates will live through the suicide mission, and it is really easy to get them all to live. You just want the loyalty of all of them (the main storyline is like 25% of the game, if you don't gain their loyalty before the final mission you are missing most of the game), make sure to ask them about upgrades and do those upgrades, then choose the right people during the final mission. The very first time I played the suicide mission I didn't know what the factors were that determined who lived and died, actually because of ignoring all talk about the game the only thing I knew was that Shepard could die. So when my teammates started dying I felt horrible. I ended up losing three and it felt like I was letting them down. Then I found out that who you choose to do what at the end does matter. I had all the loyalty/upgrades already, however I just chose who I liked to do certain parts and that was not a smart thing to do. So I went back and did it again (save early, save often) and made logical choices with no problems. One combo that works is letting Legion do the pipes, Garrus for second team leader both times, Jack for the biotic barrier and anyone for the crew escort. There are many combos though. And if someone dies who was good for that job it might be the other choice that causes them to fail. Example: myfirst playthrough Legion died after doing the pipes because I had Tali as second team leader, since they had collectors on their tail when the first doors were closing a stray shot got in and blew his head off. This would happen regardless of who went through the pipes if you chose a wrong second team leader. If you chose a right second team leader and a wrong pipe person, this would also happen. All that is an educated guess from basic understanding of how games work, I am almost positive it is correct. I really did enjoy ME2, but I liked ME1 better. So far I am the only one who enjoyed the fighting better in the first, a few have complained about the new skill system and I liked the first one of that also, I am disappointed with the lack of the MAKO in this game (I put the monument in front of it as significant gesture) and I actually enjoyed the main story in the first one more. I know that last part is weird, I think it has to do with this game mostly being side missions and the first game having more to the main mission. This game seems to be mostly set up for ME3, which is fine by me. There are a few things I enjoy more in ME2: the characters are much more fleshed out, and I was trying to list more but they all are subsets of that first item. First up, Mordin is the best character in any game ever. I had him in my team the entire first playthrough as soon as I got him (literally every single mission thereafter). Yvonne Strahovski? Yes please! Joker + Six was also great. The engineers were hilarious, I even went back to an earlier save a few times when I accidentally screwed up one of their talks. Then just the variety, twice as many teammates as the first game, everyone a different species (besides for the humans). Just remembered something else I like more about ME2, the actual side side missions are better.
  15. No one suggested using facebook URLs. I am pretty sure every response was to use a proper image hosting service.
  16. I kind of wanted it since it is pretty fun, but I could never see paying for it. I think it was one of the more expensive ones also. If I recall correctly it has always been free online.
  17. Well if used in the center front of a battle their flanks could be covered, in which case all the attacks at the point would have to come at the front. They definitely are best used in specialized places such as a ravine that the enemy must use. You wouldn't have entire army consisting of just phalanx, because it isn't all that smart to have an entire army of any one unit.
  18. Which is why I said they aren't very maneuverable. They are only useful in places where the attacks will all come at the front.
  19. Completely depends on the technology used. Droids could be much better or much worse.
  20. A "machine" of war back in the day, hard to maneuver when considered as a single unit but extremely effective. I am assuming there are different dimensions of the phalanx formation, I didn't really think a 16x16 square would be common. I would expect something a little wider with less depth.
  21. fl0w is free today on PSN.
  22. Some people are saying that the update won't always cause that problem, it only happens if your computer was already infected.
  23. Also he is wrong during the part where he says he is not wrong and people who say that are wrong. A convertible being made today on the gold standard would still cost as much as it costs now, the numbers are just different. If convertibles cost $1200 or whatever dollars that would be fine, that would also mean that the average median income would be around $1000 a year or so. That car is still going to cost around the annual salary of a lower middle class person, because that is what the car is worth. I'm not going to be able to work a month and then go out and buy that car outright because 160 hours of work =/= 1 convertible. Also if I understand it correctly gold back currency would require gold to collected and held in banks to back the currency. Gold has uses in many electronics because of it's conductivity, and all that sitting in a bank somewhere is basically useless. Fiat currency is backed by the government, and it obviously shouldn't be printed off whenever because that would cause inflation. But it's not a bad idea, it is backed by what the government is worth. So what is backed by is actually being used rather than just sitting there. EDIT: And the extreme national debt that we have right now is big, but not really that bad. It just looks much worse than it is because of the extremely large economy that we have.
  24. When I saw the topic title I thought this was going to be about unmanned machines taking over frontline fighting from humans.
  25. With the exception of Jack swallowing the pill I thought this episode was pretty boring.
