New Comp - Internet connection won't work
TrustedInstaller isn't a pre-built computer thing, it is a Windows 7 thing. It usually pops up in processes for me when I am doing the Windows update.

Connection Anomaly
That's what I would do, yes you would lose the option to keep browsing these two sites if something was actually wrong but it probably isn't.

Free Virus Removal
No, you should. Then you are more careful about what you download/install.

The Official PS3 Thread
I'm back down to not even thinking it was good, more like "meh". The pretty good/OK story doesn't make up for the atrocious controls, viewing it as a movie or game.

Graphics Card problems
If you get something that is too graphics intensive it will just run really slow, there shouldn't be any lasting problems with it. I suppose it's possible it could lock up requiring a hard reboot that might cause problems but I wouldn't worry.

Lock
Really? I could of swore I've done it before, in fact I am positive I have done it before. On multiple computers with different video cards no less. I must have just got the right video card/moboard combo a few times.

FOX announces award winning '24' will have its last season.
Because it has been on for 8 years and hasn't evolved any since season 1.

Just finished Heavy Rain. Absolutely hated the controls. Gamer rage took a hold of me quite often, I screamed "I [bleep]ing hate this game" quite a few times. And while playing it I really did hate it, but looking back it was pretty good. The controls for walking are what really pissed me off, I'd say it only worked correctly around 50% of the time. I also hate quick time events but that is basically the gameplay, not really any way to fix that.

You just need to activate your second monitor. Right click desktop, click properties, choose settings, click on greyed out monitor icon, click checkbox "extend desktop onto this monitor".

Bios for computer
I don't know. It is just really, really odd that it would be the BIOS.

Rome: Total War
I know. I've played the game for years now. Let's drop this. Then what is the problem with editing the file? The only reason you didn't have them unlocked was due to installing it on a new OS.

Really? Bumping a 9 month old topic just to make that post?

FOX announces award winning '24' will have its last season.
2-8 have basically been exactly like season 1. But no, they aren't sequential. At least 8 years has passed since s1. It's actually been pretty good this year, but I am not sad to see it go.

Bios for computer
Huh, doesn't seem right that the BIOS would affect cursor size in any way.

Rome: Total War
It's not cheating if you have already done it before, that was my point. Also once you play the game enough then you will want to play the factions that aren't unlockable but still playable, only from editing the file.

What movie(s) did you last see?
Well I've finally done it, I've watched all of Star Trek. That's right, 599 episodes and 11 movies and it only took around 4 months to do. It all started around 6 months ago. I am a huge sci-fi geek/nerd whatever you want to call it, but I watched Star Wars as a child and therefore I fell on the Wars side of the Wars/Trek battle. Up until 6 months ago I had only seen bits and parts of very few various episodes/movies, not enough to even recognize but one or two scenes as having been seen before. I knew a decent amount about Star Trek though because of pop culture references and the like. So when I was looking through a torrent list and saw the new ST film on there, I figured it was about time to give it a chance. Firstly it was a reboot so I didn't need to watch anything before it, and secondly it was J.J. Abrams so I figured it would be good. When it turned out to be good I started to acquire all the other TV series and movies. About a month later I started watching, and have been watching pretty steadily since then. There have been some weeks when I ended up watching none (playing Mass Effect 2), and another week I didn't have any work that I must have watched a hundred episodes. "Star Trek" - The Original Series is often considered peoples favourite. This I just don't understand. Since these are the first I watched them first, and almost gave up on my mission to complete ST. I knew some of what to expect, as mentioned above I knew a decent amount about ST and had just watched the reboot not too long ago, so I was really excited when starting to watch these and when they turned out to be boring as [bleep] it was hugely disappointing. The boring part is probably the biggest reason for not liking them, I didn't care for the acting all that much either or the often nonsensical plot (meaning they often do the exact opposite of what their characters would do or any rational being would, just for plot purposes). I also found it to be pretty racist and sexist at times. I'd say I disliked about 95% of it, but after a while of getting to know the characters even when it is bad sometimes you don't mind as much. There were a few cool parts, almost exclusively something to do with Spock, the only likable character on the show. Now this is my review in the way that I felt, as far as I can remember, 3-4 months ago. Since then it has changed some. With time the disappointment wore off, I also finally got around to trying to judge the series in late 60's terms. Most all my qualms with the show were about just the way TV was back then. So in the end I wouldn't say I hated it, just that I thought it was boring. Then came some of the movies but I am not reviewing any of the 10 movies because I can barely remember what they were amidst everything else. "Star Trek: The Next Generation" - I came into this series after being extremely disappointed with TOS, so at this point morale was at an all time low. There were still over 500 episodes and 6-7 movies to get through, and up to this point I had not enjoyed my campaign at all. I marched on though, mostly because I like to complete things but I also wanted to choose my side in the Kirk vs. Picard debate (Picard). After watching a few episodes I realized I would like this show a lot more, and I started to see why people like Star Trek so much. This series was probably my favourite of the four (maybe tied with DS9). Still it is not even close to being in my top 5 sci-fi TV series. It was good, but not great. "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" - There were more politics in this show than the others, and I really enjoyed that. Reminded me a lot about Babylon 5 (which still blows all Star Trek out of the water). Actually now that I am writing the review I think I will go with DS9 as my favourite, but will leave the previous review like it is so you can see the sudden change. "Star Trek: Voyager" - Didn't like this one as much as the other two modern ones. Firstly the captain was just annoying as hell. Secondly the premise of the series could have been good but I don't think it was executed very well. Thirdly there were a ton of those god damned time travel episodes, and I hate time travel. Overall I am glad I watched the catalog. I realize I left out "Enterprise" but many said it wasn't really in continuity and it wasn't very good. I finished the catalog a few hours ago, then re-watched Star Trek for fun. It got me started watching, so might as well finish it off too. There was some different satisfaction from watching it after seeing all the catalog than from watching it before. I knew most everything that was referenced in it before watching the catalog, still it was cool watching after the catalog.

Rome: Total War
The very first time playing the game it would be good to play one of the Roman factions, complete the game and unlock the others. However if you have played before there is no reason you shouldn't just unlock all the factions from the beginning. It's a simple .ini edit.

Rome: Total War
That's what I am using. Haven't tried the game on it without mods yet though. Except for the CTDs mentioned in my last post it plays fine. Anyone know why screenshots wouldn't be working? I hit print screen in game, exit/alt-tab out, paste it into paint and instead of the in game screen I get a screenshot of my desktop.

What's the xkcd reference? http://xkcd.com/314/ 1/2 + 7 isn't a xkcd thing, that has been around for a lot longer than the web, and that was my point.

Rome: Total War
Europa Barbarorum is actually the only mod I have tried so far, which is another reason that those hundreds of hours seemed wasted. Vanilla is OK, but the mods make it so much better. Mods can be troublesome which is why I originally never tried them. EB worked just fine on my last computer, never any crashes at all. Then I built this one a month or two ago and I've had frequent regular crashes using EB on it. WinXP 32bit vs Win7 64bit is probably the reason. I can only play around 2 battles before it CTD's at the start of the next battle. I have heard great things about DarthMod, if you want to check that out. I'd like to know what other mods people use also, EB is great but 3 months of trying to clear the map is starting to get a little old  . @TheValeyard: Yeah cavalry charges are great. I'm fighting the Ptolemaic right now and they love to have stacks of phalanxes even out in the open fields. They also like to separate individual phalanx units out into the open if you "bait" them with another unit. Cavalry charge to the side or back and they pretty much start routing right then and there. Also got some territories to recruit Scythian Foot Archers (the units with the longest range), love having a full stack of them vs a typical Ptolemaic full stack. Can get hundreds of kills with no casualties.

Rome: Total War
Hours conquering the strategy map? You need to play with mods. My current campaign has been going for three months, and I've only got around half the territories. I actually just turned on my computer to play that campaign when I got sidetracked by this topic  . The Total War series is just awesome. I've played a full vanilla campaign in RTW around 10 times, a few of those conquering the entire map. Around 5 in BI, one or two conquering the entire map. RTW was the first I tried so I have played it the most. Shogun and Medieval 1 I've only played once, conquering the entire map for both games. Medieval 2 I've played twice, conquering the entire map once. Then I played each of the Kingdoms expansions conquering their entire maps at least once each. Empire I attempted to conquer the entire map on, but it is so fricking buggy that I just got sick of all the game ending bugs (requiring going back a few saves) that I gave up. I had all of India and west to the Mediterranean, starting as the Maratha Confederacy. Then before my current campaign in Europa Barbarorum modded RTW Macedonian campaign I played an EB Briton campaign, in which I just completed the objective (UK, Ireland, France, Northern Spain). So I've put hundreds, possibly over a thousand of hours into these games. And now I get to the part most people who play the series don't understand, all those campaigns up to my most recent Macedonian campaign? Yeah, never played the battles. Auto-resolved them all. Then when I started this campaign (damn, that was all the way back before Christmas) it was rather hard (playing on VH of course), and I read many complaints from people about auto-resolve results over the years and decided to finally try playing a battle that I really need to win, but auto-resolving kept losing. The result? An overwhelming victory and all the sudden around hundreds of hours of gameplay seemed wasted. So many of those campaigns would have been much much easier. I still auto-resolve fairly regularly though just to speed things along, but sometimes I just get pissed at it. For example a battle I had the other day auto-resolved results: Clear Defeat, myArmy1 200 kills myArmy2 0 kills myArmy3 400 kills enemyArmy 2,200 kills. My battle results: Clear Victory: myArmy1 1500 kills myArmy2,3 0 kills enemyArmy 300 kills. Went from losing around 1,600 more than the enemy to killing around 1,200 more than the enemy. So now I am definitely on the playing battles bandwagon. Many defending bridge battles are just crazy, like me killing 1,000 and the enemy killing 5. Hellenic Elite Phalanx for the win!

Converting .rar to mp3?
What service were you using to download? I could see doing it in rar off of newsgroups, maybe off of rapidshare, but for torrents there is no reason to do it that way.
