Happy July the 4th!
While individuals doing some fireworks can be fun, they never really compare to the fireworks shows that cities put on. There is something to be said about not having to go anywhere though, it is kind of nice to just hang out in your back yard. Easier drinking potential there.

Does the internet belong to the US?
The fact that the US has debt doesn't change the fact that they are a world superpower. The fact that they don't manufacture as much as China doesn't matter anyway. Wow, those posts are completely wrong. Just because it seems like a lot of stuff comes from China doesn't mean that China produces more than the US. In fact the US still is the number one producer in the world, and is roughly equal to the next two combined (China and Japan). Also to answer the first question, how much debt do foreign governments own, the answer is around 28%. China has the most of that 28%, but just barely. Japan is right behind. ($790billion and $758billion). The plurality of US debt is owned by the US Federal Reserve and US intragovernmental holdings. And while our debt is obviously the highest of any country, it is not nearly the highest compared to how much we manufacture which is a much, much more relevant number. On that list we are 42nd, meaning 41 countries have worse debt than us. This includes most Western European countries, including Norway which could easily pay off all their debt if they wanted, they just don't because it isn't a huge, huge deal yet.

Wireless file transfer
You shouldn't have to create any sort of network, you should be automatically in the workgroup network from both Vista and XP. Just right click on a folder and then sharing options, and share it. Then go to network (can't quite remember where it is on vista/xp) and you will see both computers there (and any others that are connected to your network). Open the computer that is sharing files and you should see that shared folder there, along with maybe a few others Windows shares automatically.

Massive Steam summer sale
See if you can use that on a paypal account maybe. A few games there I would like, but I have so many games purchased that I have not played yet that it isn't even funny. I think they do these crazy sales fairly regularly, right? I'll get some the next time. Probably spend a few hundred dollars and just have access to any game I want.

Wireless Netoworking
So why are connecting both wired and wireless? It can (not always) cause problems when you connect through two different network connections. Also your pictures are not large, they barely fill up half my screen (and everyone else that uses normal 1080p resolution).

Does the internet belong to the US?
There's a lot they could [bleep] up in the US, and a large part of the Internet is in the US, and therefore a large part of the Internet could be [bleep]ed up (large not meaning majority, just a large part) but there is no way the US government could shut down the Internet around the world. Many American sites like Yahoo!, Google, amazon, MSN ect... all have servers internationally and everyone outside the US could access them just fine, just like any other site that is hosted outside the US (even if it started here).

A way to slow down DL speed?
You can right click on youtube videos and stop them from downloading any more.

Newegg Replacement of Discontinued Things
Umm, many bigger "green" drives are 5400RPM, and they are new. If you are looking for a drive just for storage then 5400RPM is just fine.

Does the internet belong to the US?
Yeah there is no way to shut off the Internet world wide. Even shutting it off nationwide, after passing this bill and adding a "killswitch", would be extremely difficult.

I'm guessing you played Oblivion before Morrowind.

You really need to! Good stuff! You've seen it yet? Nope, been waiting forever for it. Meant to see it in the theater but missed it.

Does the internet belong to the US?
[bleep] you for not even bothering to read the article or the rest of the posts here. This has nothing to do with Obama, it is just another of the stupid sensationalist headlines anti-Obama people are throwing around nowadays.

The Tunnel
It finally made it on digg today.

The Tunnel
I've always thought something like this would be an awesome way to bring stuff back into production. I was thinking more of an actual legal part ownership of the movie/TV show though. Basically more like stock. I had this idea around 5 years ago after I first saw Firefly and really, really wanted to see more. I thought it would be awesome if they started selling ownership rights at $50 a stock, then the owner of the movie would match it + a little so that each episode/movie of Firefly would be 49% owned by fans and 51% owned by Joss Whedon, and all profit would be split according to that (you could but as many $50 stocks as you wanted). The budget of the film/series would depend on entirely how much stocks people purchased. The way The Tunnel is doing it is interesting, but not quite as good. I am also a little confused about the rates, since film is 24 frames per second, it actually would be better to buy the frames individually rather than in seconds/minutes. It's also possible they mean 25 frames and you just end up getting a little more than 1 second. I don't think they would film it at 25 fps, I don't think any cameras exist that film at that rate. It's always 24 for movies or 60 for TV shows. I went ahead and bought 25 frames anyways, even though it really isn't as good of an idea as I'd like, it is a step in the right direction. EDIT: Apparently they give you a number of random frames equal to the amount of dollars you spent. So I didn't get a second of frames, I got 25 frames from random parts of the movie. I can see both good and bad to this. When I first started this edit right after I got the email with my numbers I was angry editing, but after I thought about it I think it is better this way.

[Spoilers] Stargate Universe
Did you watch any of SG1 or Atlantis? If you haven't, you might feel differently about the finale. Stargate season finales are usually a little different than most TV series. The season finale is usually part 1 of 2, with the second part being the first episode of the next season. Most TV series will have a two parter be the last two episodes of a season, with a cliffhanger at the end about whats going to be going on next season. With Stargate all you get are many cliffhangers, which only really are about this season. Hard to explain, but if you watch early SG1 you will get what I mean. Of course it's also possible that you have watched the other series and still think the finale was a let down (there were slightly more cliffhangers than normal), and it's also possible my theory about Stargate finales is just me being crazy.

All Time Favorite Games
I purchased the Baldur's Gate Collection a few weeks ago but haven't installed it yet (along with the Diablo and Starcraft Battlechests). All three of the purchases came with multiple games/expansions, none of which I have played yet (I think I tried BGII a long time ago). So I have a good few hundred hours of classic PC gaming ahead of me.
