Well, he's not going to. I've already invested quite a bit of time in discussing this today, and I'm sure not wasting a whole lot more of it slogging through that pomous, pedantic wall of gibberish. I do appreciate it, though, when someone make me look concise by comparison. ;) He's not the only only one who is pompous... Or pedantic for that matter, ie you seem overly concerned that this is a "skill" rather than a minigame. He was merely pointing out that not all skills nessecarily have to fit your strict definitions, because, this is a GAME, after all. Also, about the name, "dungeon" can and has been loosely applied to a wide variety of situations. It dosen't nessecarily imply an underground area, or rule out things like towers, for example.

What setup would you suggest without overloads? The whole reason I'm thinking about getting into DKing actually is to earn enough money for overloads. I have extreme attack and str so far, but still have a ways to go before the 93-95 range.

I have never owned a barrows item (outside of merching them). I have never worn or utilized any barrows item. My concession to the rent-to-never-own mentality was a few crystal bows back in the day. But I dispensed with them quite a while ago. Your loss. I could see never getting one of the new swords and shields because of how damned expensive they are (2m for 10h, REALLY?) but barrows is dirt cheap, especially if you have a high smithing level. All of the new items I have minded because of how arbitrarily expensive they have been, but barrows was the one I think they got right.

...And 20 brand new items that are usable in the rest of runescape. ... at a recurring cost. It's like rent-to-own, except you are never owning and always renting. I have to agree that all the degradable rather than permenant rewards lately are REALLY annoying. But not all of the rewards are like that, the arcane stream necklace and tome of frost for example, which are both extremely useful mage items.

Has anyone gotten a primal spear yet? What bosses can drop them?

Could I get a quote from KB or other official source on that? For all we know it could simply be a very, very rare drop from the primal-clad warriors. I have seen enemies in, promethium, for example, drop a tier lower than what they are actually wearing and then again I got my promethium spear from a warrior who was obviously wielding one.

According to the behemoth notes this is correct, magic does bypass his armor. However it indicates that the damage from mage while his armor is up is reduced. I haven't tried this though so feel free to experiment. I'd say the best idea in any case is just make the best pickaxe you can and use that to destroy his armor first.

As someone asked earlier, any ideas what drops primal spear? I'd like to replace my primal maul ASAP. Though honestly it's much better than promethium spear so I'll keep it until I get the spear.

youre right its an activity :rolleyes: Then it's by far the most massive, fun "activity" they've ever released. Though people Qeltar won't even give it that. :rolleyes:

I ask you - how exactly is this a "mini" game? It's downright massive! 35 floors of varying size, complexity, and difficulty, 18 different bosses, hundreds, maybe even thousands of different items involved with it, possibly all of that except maybe the items to be DOUBLED within a month or two with batch 2 - and you call this a "mini" game? Gnome ball is a mini game. This is NOT a mini game.

Just curious, which boss dropped the spear? Or was it one of those lvl 130ish warriors? Were you soloing or on a team? Just wondering since I've been wanting one ever since I destroyed my promethium spear for a primal maul which Rammernaut was gracious enough to drop. Speaking of primal maul:

Actually I've left a level 100+ monster here and there, while killing everything else, and took only a tiny hit to exp. Not really worth killing everything especially if killing them takes up too much time / prayer.

Haha... I just discovered a rather hilarious fact about Sagitarre. If you pray mage against him, he'll spend most of the round trying and failing miserably to use his freeze arrows and bear trap things. They count as mage apparently. And when he fails at using it, he tries again. And again. And again. With a normal arrow mixed in there occasionally. So basically mage pray > him even moreso than the other bosses.

Yup, like that. Happened to me once. Shortly after I got several rocks collapse on me at the same time somehow and I died. Ragequit for the night after that :evil:

Wat. I don't get it. I'm guessing the rock vein was behind the chest. Also one time in that collapsed rock tunnel room I got a key spawn inside a wall. Fortunately stuff like this doesn't happen all that often, just a few glitches that haven't quite been weeded out.

By the way, anyone care to speculate what the ancient artifact at the very bottom (not released yet) is? They make it sound like it's the SoJ or something, but obviously it can't be that because it was in the ancient Guthixian temple and Lucien stole it. What object of great power did the Dragonkin posses that they would go to such great lengths to hide?

Well getting a primal maul certainly made me feel better at it :razz: Though you really should get more items to bind... a good model I think would be 1 item at level 1, 2 at level 30, 3 at level 60, 4 at level 90, and 5 at level 120. That would seem a bit more fair to me.

What nonsense. What utter nonsense. Does summoning not serve only to aid other skills? Do people not choose to train their combat with slayer? And is FIREMAKING really a skill, and this isn't? Oh yes, and the "best" thing to say about this skill isn't that you get exp in other skills, it's that unlike all other skills, this one is actually fun. Maybe not to you, but certainly to anyone who likes doing other things besides the same menial tasks over and over again. Oh and I wouldn't call the equipment you get from this skill "useless" either. Far too expensive now, perhaps, but Jagex said they are currently re-balancing the costs.

I'm happy, Rammernaut just dropped a primal maul. Destroyed my promethium spear p++ and bound it. Probably going to keep the primal spear when I get that, but seriously +185 crush is too ownage to pass up for now.
