  1. 76 magic and 61 runecraft are my highest and lowest. To the poster above: you havent really given farming a chance if you are only level 1! It's a bit of a strong statement to say that you hate it having never actually tried it. (apologies if you have another account where you have)
  2. 'fraid so. I never died on him, but I had several attempts at him. In the end, I got 10 garlic, 10 spices and banked them so I could just ecto tele, walk to canafis then have another go. Good luck - I found dessous pretty tough going.
  3. well my plan is that I use a ring of duelling. (unless i am on when it is very quiet). I just cw tele, then use my glories to tele to edgeville. This way the Pkers only get my duelling ring and a few ess. If they dont even start getting glories off me then they might just think that it is not worth the runes and stop. The flip side is that it takes about 10 seconds more per run, but I think that it is worth it in the long run.
  4. hardest quests for me so far have been: desert treasure, monkey madness (i didnt find legends that bad, but I did use a guide) hard quests for irritation factor are: eadgars ruse (grr goutweed); rat catchers (i spent AGES in that house); i guess I should put a quick shout for regicide (distilling the oil) ive almost done the monkey part of RFD - the tunnel was harder than I remembered it! and just got the legends dude to go. Not really that difficult so far, but I have to say I'm not looking forward to the bosses without prayer... also, i found devious minds disappointingly easy - not sure why a few people have disliked this quest so much. I was only annoyed about having to get my large pouch back again from the abyss.
  5. for smithing, varrock or yanille have anvils right next to the bank. For smelting, al kharid is pretty good. Personally, I use the blast furnace, cos you only have to use half the coal. You need the giant dwarf quest I think (or at least to have started it) to make it worthwhile. You also really need to have 60 smithing to use the anvil next to the furnace.
  6. well i guess it partially depends what you want from the training. If you want fast xp, then experiments are the way to go, but it you are after the drops then things like fire giants are pretty good. Or you could use slayer to level your combat stats - slayer monsters tend to drop pretty good things.
  7. part of me likes this idea. Using prayer to help non-combat skills seems like a pretty good idea, but it wold not be enough of an incentive for people to raise their prayer just to have a slightly better chance of getting more of a certain item. What would happen is that bone prices would increase - they are already high at 2.5k each for dragon bones, and it has cost me enough to get to 62 prayer already. However, I think that people have enough of an incentive to get prayer high for things like combat, in particular at the barrows where high prayer means less prayer pots = cheaper barrows trips. I wouldnt be against this idea if it came out, but I dont really think that it is necessary.
  8. im 62 herblore, and I still find it a massive grind to do herblore. The problems I have is that it takes me quite a long time just to get 1 inv full of herbs. If you equate that inventory of herbs to xp - it is not very much :-(. Some advice I can give you: 1. keep up with the herb growing -definitely a good cheap way to get herbs 2. buy your herbs. I basically spend all my money on herbs. I recently spent 1 mil on them in world 2. The downside to this is that you get a lot of guams, marrentil and tarromin. Be prepared to have to collect a lot of seconds for these 3. If you do buy your herbs, make sure you know the best place to get seconds e.g. wildy for unicorn horns, nardah for chocolate etc. getting seconds is even more time consuming that getting the herbs, so getting a high level will be painfully slow if you do both. 4. If you kill druids to get herbs, drop marrs, guams and tarromins. Also use the vials to mix your herbs and save inv space. 5. Kill salarin the twisted to get sinister key - you get some nice herbs from him. (needs high agility though) 6. Use ash with your tarromins. (need to have done shades of mortton first). This means that you save your limps for the super strength potions, as they are quite slow to acquire. (i;m currently in the process of having to make 519 tarromin potions - ash is much quicker than pimps for the same xp)
  9. your battle setup looks fine. I mage karil too, as I find that I generally do quite a lot of damage with magic. I wear melee armour when fighting guthan as he can heal himself through your prayer. I think that a prayer pot restores about 17 or 18. I use the holy wrench, so it restores a bit more per dose I use a mage bow because the special is handy, and also because I dont own karil's crossbow! You cannot mage/range anyone over the sarchophagus - it's just designed that way. you dont need to sidestep in the crypt For my first few trips I'd take sharks until you are comfortable with how to do things. Also take 5 prayer pots - you probably wont need them, but it is good to be safe for your first run or so. I only use 2 or 3 doses now per run. Also having high prayer is VERY useful. Finally, to answer your question, barrows is definitely a good money maker. Even if you dont get a rare item, you can sell the bloods you get for 600 each, and you get enough minds and deaths to make up for the runes that you use in your magic dart (which you do want to have mage armour for) feel free to pm me if you have any other questions - there are also a lot of very good guides on this site too.

i guess that I'm a bit odd in this respect then - I do 4 patches, with herbs, flowers and vegetables, then go do hops, check patches, and replant if necessary, do bushes, back to patches, and finally trees and specials. This normally takes long enough to get 2 lots of herbs (*4 patches) + another lot to go in before I stop farming.
  11. well on p2p you can just buy charcoal from the shop on karamja. I never tried black trees in wildy, but I remember hearing that you can get charcoal from them too.
  12. well i am a member, so I'll give you members advice if you are planning on joining f2p. I use the blast furnace (which requires 60 smithing to be effective, and you have to do a quest (i forget which). This halves the amount of coal that you need, so a steel bar costs 1 coal, 1 iron (which you can also buy from the shop there). As long as you are prepared to high alch your plates there, you will make a nice profit, and can make twice as many items due to needing only half the coal. As was said above, I had a go at making cannonballs. By the time that I had made 4 loads, I was well bored. They take AGES to make, so I just went and bought them instead for 200 each. There is good money in them as long as you are prepared to be patient. I guess it depends on whether you want fast xp, or good financial return for your materials.
  13. man - there just seems to be an abundance of making money threads, notable written by people who like shouting. Maybe it is just me, but I dont think that I ever got to 1 mil until I was about combat 75 and skill tot about 1400. To me the game is there to be enjoyed, and the quest to make as much money as possible really doesnt appeal. Obviously, I want to be able to buy those herbs/bones to help levelling, but I prefer to do it on my own. What is it with this need to have every nice item in the game while doing as little as possible to earn them? The best advice is to stick to a skill, and the money will soon come rolling in.
  14. I was thinking of fire giants in the waterfall dungeon, as you can safespot them by the door.

personally, I dont use the controlled option as it means that strength is levelled very slowly. I use the other options for fast defence and attack levelling, and then the dragon scimmy for levelling my strength, on things like easy slayer tasks or killing hill giants for limps.
  16. what's the great hurry? just do a bit of skill levelling, a few quests and the money will come. You say the you have just got members - there is so much to do and try out. Just sit back and enjoy everything that it has to offer instead of trying to get all the best items/equipment straight away. However, to answer your question, fletching is a very good money maker. If you can craft your own nature runes, then fletching will get you lots of money in the long run. Short term money making schemes are making nats and selling for 300 each.
  17. i made a thread a few months ago on the RS forums and here for this too. I support this idea, however, it would end up leading to massive screen clutter. For example, if you are fishing at catherby, and you try to ID a spot, you can only see about 10 of the 20 (say) fishers that are there. This would end up meaning that you could see even less people. Imagine trying to trade on world 2 with this option enabled. It would just be crazy. I also agree that it would enable people to be abusive in their sigs, but for the most part people could use it to show off their noncombat stats, or what they are buying/selling.
  18. 61 theiving, rc and prayer. farm and herblore come narrowly behind with 62
  19. thanks for your answer. I gave up for a while, until i realised that although I went to entrana,I forgot to get the silver pot blessed when i was there. Oh well. Managed it this time using my melee + mage pray method, and got through it this time.
  20. Firstly, I have done a lot of searching to try to find a good way of doing this guy. It seems that everyone has done him a different way, either using mage with melee pray or melee with mage pray, or sometimes even range pray as suggested by the tip.it guide. However, the only way that I manage not to get completely owned is by meleeing using whip, rune armour etc and using magic pray. However, I have managed to kill him down to no health a few times, and he simply regenerates all his hit points again. I keep going through food like mad, so I never have enough food to take him out twice. Firstly, can anyone advise an effective way to kill him, and secondly, has anyone else experienced him regenerating his health back to maximum? I tried to get a stake from the dude that I got it from in the vampire slayer quest, but I couldnt get it again. any comments or suggestions are always appreciated. Thanks in advance
  21. i have about 3k. They are getting to the top of my list for things to chuck in my bank. They are the kind of thing that I keep around, just incase there is an update.
  22. the sidesteps are there to have a place to avoid being hit while you drink a pot or eat some food. it takes a bit of experience to get it right. Personally, i tend not to bother with them too much as i want to finish the fight as fast as possible to reduce the amount of prayer that I lose. In the crypts, there are no safe spots to take on the brothers. In the tunnels, there are a few safe spots that you can hide behind (i use these all the time against the melee brothers to save pray pots). You can also use the sidestep techniques around the doors and chest if needs be. hope ive helped
  23. I'd say guards all the way. They give preyyy good xp. Also, as your theiving level goes up, your success rate will also increase.
  24. I still think that the 2 handed nature of all the weapons is still the main problem. If you can fill the shield slot with a barrows item that you would have to be able to fill it with any other item. On a more positive note though, I do like the idea. However, I think it might end up overpowering already very powerful sets.
  25. I think that there is an exception with things like pouches. They disappear as soon as you die. Although they are also untradeable (as with things like gaunts), they do disappear. However, if you drop them first, then they remain or the ground for a while to allow you to pick them up again.
