Guide to RuneScape's new Graphics - Do YOU meet the Req's?
£k-4k... NOOOOOO!! Seriously it shouldn't come to that, I'm saving up for a machine that's going to be able to play all the games out there and it's around £800( though no monitor, so probably more like £1050 with one) Q6600( quad core 2.4ghz, it's roughly £130, you can overclock it to 3ghz by changed ONE value, this thing overclocks so easily you could probably do it on the stock CPU cooler although to play it safe i'd buy the artic cooler 7 for around £15, it's amazing for it's price.) Obviously you need a good quality power supply, corsair do great ones, theres a modular 520watt powersupply for £70ish, it's won tons of awards for best power supply for gaming rigs. 4gb DDR2 6400PC ram( 2x2 sticks, get a good brand, probably cost you around £75, DDR3 is like treble the price and tbh it's not worth it right now, DDR2 is still the main stream and will be for another year or so until prices go down to something reasonable) You could SLI, although one pricey card is easier IMO since you don't have to buy two new cards next time you upgrade. IF you wanted to the 9600GT's apparantly scaler very well and for the price, around £120 each, it's an amazing deal, two of those will blow one 8800GTX out of the water, if you want to SLI more pricey stuff then buy two 8800GTS 512mb cards, these are equal to and sometimes beat the 800GTX on games and are £50 cheaper, even the 9800GTX is a little cheaper LMAO. Extreme is sound card is really unnecessary IMO, on board sound these days is very good, you could splash out( and i would) on an creative X-fi gamer ( £60) heard great things about them. Blue ray, well it has nothing to do with gamings, it costs like £250, ok get it if you want but it's not a necessary part of a gaming rig. 1TB is a bit much for me, but yeah you could go with it, probably £100ish PsyX card, no way in hell!!! Seriously they don't help gaming, friend of mine bought one and he is really sorry for it. I'm sure it;s great for 3D design but just like the £500 graphics cards, they are great for 3D design, they suck for games( not designed for them) Motherboard, you could go crazy and spend £300 or get a pretty good one for £80-100, depends on what you could. Really you could build a best of a machine for £800-£1000( plus say £250 for a nice 24" monitor) my friends comp which cost her £960( althoguh if she built it herself it would have been more like £800 flys through any game I've played on it, even supreme commander with eight players, and that's with only one 8800GTS 512mb, those things rule. :P :P Basically yeah you could buy an Alienware amazing comp for £4k, but they charge you more then double what it costs for you to buy the parts yourself, i guess it all depends on budget really. Sorry for the tech talk if anyone didn't get that, i'm new to the techness but i am trying to learn about hardware choices from experts so i can make wise decision and not go overkill and rip myself off when i eventually buy my new computer.

^^ lucky you :P I got nothing for teh six-form, naaaathing! My computer does meet the requirements but it fails to play any new games i buy( obviously they need way more then runescape). Got a job interview tomorrow( if my stomach stops absolutely killing me...) hoping it goes well, £800 comp here i come.

16 June 2008 - Development Diary and System Specifications
i doubt they'd want to stretch the truth here really, in fact most games companies under play whats required for the game to run. Try playing any new RTS on it's minimum required spec, even recommended for that matter. Your not going to be able to play on high settings with more then 4 players( probably not even on the lowest..lol i know from experience..)

Guide to RuneScape's new Graphics - Do YOU meet the Req's?
Jagex really really don't expect that, this computer i'm using is 4-5 years old. It has a 2.4ghz celeron( not great, pentium is way better) processor had 512mb ram but now it has 1.25GB had a 128mb radeon 9200( which could probably handle this), now has a 7600GS( not great, only cost like £40 and there's cheaper out there that could probably play this graphically updated runescape) so really they aren't expecting anything much, compared to quite a few games released in the last two years these requirements are pretty low to be honest.

^^ you have to buy a new processor how much ram do you have and what graphics card do you have? For ram and processor name you just go in my computer and click on the " view system information", should be near the top left somewhere. For graphics card, once you've clicked the system information, click on the hardware tab. Then click on device manager, near the top of the list that should be in front of you should be "display adapters". Click the + and type out what it says in there.

Monday Poll: More or Less Excited?
well for one thing, as we all know, when i gaming company states minimum and required specifications, they are kidding themselves and on the verge of lying. I mean LMAO have you seen the requirements for Supreme Commander, good luck playing even a 1v1 skirmish on a smallish map with the recommended specifications, don't even start me with the minimum ones, it will psychically boot up but don't expect to be able to play. It's going to be the same with this IMO, that's probably whats needed if you turn down all the new optional settings that will be released to low. I bet it's more like a 2.2ghz processor, 512mb-1024mb ram and a 128mb card. Still that's not much but I'm saying i bet there estimate is a bit low. Another thing is, about your complaint, not everyone owns an £700 machine( that's what it costs if you build it yourself to get a Q6600, 4gb DDR2 800mhz ram(decent brand), say a 8800GT, a nice £60-70 case, an OS, power supply to handle that( that one crap out on you) etc) I'm going for an interview tomorrow, hoping i get the job, and yes after around 9 months of saving i'll hopefully save the money( by saving i mean like spending nothing :P ) to buy a replacement for this old machine: 2.6ghz Intel celeron 1.25ghz ram 7600GS ^^ i mean theres a lot worse then that out there, a lot of runescape players wont have the money to buy a gaming rig, their parents sure aren't going to fork out the cash because trust me, parents do not understand computers, parents do not understand how slow their computer is until they try a good gaming rig( lol my mum does realize how crap our comp is now though after seeing the loading time on my friends £1k rig) Basically runescape's market is the player without a computer that plays games, well games that aren't more then 3 or so years old, basically :P

Guide to RuneScape's new Graphics - Do YOU meet the Req's?
hmm it's odd that it would have over 1Gb of Ram and a much better graphics card( can you find out what that is please?) and only a 1.33ghz processor,weird..

Kharazi Jungle for Clue...
actually i don't think you need any of them. To enter kharazi jungle all you need to do is start the quest, he will ask you to map out Kharazi jungle, you don't have to map it out if you don't want to ,just bring the unfinished map, an axe and a machete with you.

Old Ways To Make Money?
after killing a few goblins or coins i went to mining pretty much straight away. I used to mine ore, smelt it at lummy and bank at varrock. I sold what ever i made to the appropriate shop( shield in shield shop etc). I did this for bronze and iron stuff.

Map Speculation
No, you cant. Its high, low, or fullscreen. There is no middle ground. Fullscreen is updated graphics. That is that. actually bloodArgon i read through the development diary myself and it says it is optional, just read this now: The (optional) fullscreen mode will scale the game up to your monitor's native (32-bit colour) resolution and the field of view adjusts for widescreen resolutions it also supports 2x and 4x anti-aliasing to help smooth off edges.

Guide to RuneScape's new Graphics - Do YOU meet the Req's?
lol Nep Nvidia is a brand, like Intel, ATI etc. You can't download a brand my man. :D I'm not good with integrated graphics so I'm not sure if it could handle the new runescape

Guide to RuneScape's new Graphics - Do YOU meet the Req's?
^^ thanks for the confirmation, i guess if this old thing can handle halo fine and didn't have any problem with Silkroad( hated it) really( bar when i was in a big city with hundreds of players on top of each other in every square) it can handle a revamped RS.
-
Map Speculation
few that's ok then, i don't think i'd like full screen since i like looking at other sites and talking on MSN while playing.

Guide to RuneScape's new Graphics - Do YOU meet the Req's?
hmm if my geforce 7600 256mb is AGP rather then PCI-e does that cause a large performance hit or will it handle this no problem. Also i assume they are not necessarily talking about DDR2? I have 1.25Gb of DDR1 ram, i assume that's ok?
-
Map Speculation
lol i don't think their going to release anything else big( like a bank reform) with this graphics overhaul. Also can anyone confirm or not whether you can use the new graphics option without being forced to play full-screen?

Guide to RuneScape's new Graphics - Do YOU meet the Req's?
hmm.. Intel Celeron( ouch half cache) 2.6Ghz processor 1.25Gb Ram( obviously not DDR2 but still I'm sure it'll be fine) nVidia Geforce 7600GS 256mb ( should be fine, handles most of my RTS games to a large extent, it becomes sluggish if i turn the detail to high or loads of units are on screen) GRRRR i really really want a new computer, I'm going for a job interview on Wednesday, hoping i get it and by saving this year, plus Christmas i should be able to build a £800 gaming machine.

summer money~ need more help!!!
ok well i prefer abyssal crafting even when it is laws so I'll give you a setup for that Wear the spotted cape( you can't wear spottier but it wont be too much of an issue) Wear boots of lightness Wear nothing else since you won't be able to access the law rift. I'd suggest using a spirit terrorbird over an abyssal creature because the infinite run is better then the extra 7 spaces IMO, although you could try using both familiars and see which you prefer( you'd need some super energy pots to drink while you bank if you don't use a terrorbird). Using one essence space for the terrorbird scrolls is worth it IMO since as you have no armour to protect you from damage you'll want to be running all the time really.

summer money~ need more help!!!
right well for a start( assuming you have some money now) i'd say grow ranarrs while doing other things, there going give you a nice amount of profit. In fact if you don't mind runecrafting you could craft nats( or laws, which are worth more) via the abyss while at the same time growing ranarrs? Even if you buy essence, super compost etc i'm confident you'd get over 200k an hour. You'll get 170-200k an hour from crafting runes and then every 75mins( plus a few mins to harvest the herbs) you'll probably get.. (we'll say roughly 7 herbs a harvest, use magic secaturs) 7x6.4k( Ge price last i looked although it could have changed a bit)= 44.8k ranarr seed= roughly 24k so 20.8k profit per seed, assuming you use 5 herb patches=104k profit per herb round.

Kalphite Queen question
hmm i was JUST able to solo it once with 80 80 80 stats, however the second and third times i had to take two trips to kill one. However since you have another 12 sharks in the terrorbird and your stats are higher then mine were, i'd say you certainly can kill one, MAYBE two.

Help with some tweaks?
^^ Why do you say get rune or barrows not dragon? I have dragon.... :(

Black dragons task
best place is in the evil chickens lair in Zanaris( fairy city). The entrance is just behind the entrance to zanaris via the lummy swamp route. You need to use a raw chicken on the evil chicken shrine to enter the dungeon and the black dragons are literally behind the door, so right in your face when you enter. I'd say either range them either emerald(e) bolts or a dragon hally might be sufficient( remember to pot up if your going to hally, though taking range pots might not be a bad idea either, i generally do.

Left half of Dragon Shield
im pretty sure their only like 60k-70k right now, it's a shame just like the dragon spear, both worthless. :P
