Game Update FAQ - 12/04/10
Binding isn't a serious drawback to the skill... it's an essential part of it. Also, they did say they would address the level requirements of the rewards (and likely, they'll consider the prices too). What I meant is that we can't bind as many items as we should be able to, in my opinion. I'd prefer to be able to bind an additional item every twenty or thirty levels. I don't know... I think it's about right. You're meant to make a difficult choice about what you keep and what you leave behind. I think not letting anyone realistically get over 3 items is reasonable. IMO we should get to take the current number of bound item(s) and the last boss drop to the next level. That's a decent idea, really. But adding more item binds would make it too easy IMO... I think this would be a good answer though, at least this way boss drops are useful if you floor-clear first.

I don't agree.. even the mushrooms and potatoes become decent healers in between fights with one of these (I have the lvl 89 -adept skinweaver- with me if possible) by your side. And guess what, the healers even fight which always help a little... With 99 Summoning, I've found that the 6,000 LP worth of Salve Eels on the highest Beast of Burden far surpasses the healing I'd get from the highest Healing Familiar during the boss fight. Throughout the dungeon it might be better, but I always have excess food at the end so the Beast of Burden feels more useful...

The most obvious reason is if you're playing with friends. Let's say you have access to 1 through 9, and have completed 1 through 8. Your friend has access to 1 through 6 and has only completed 1 through 3. If you play with him, you will use a 0 prestige score for dungeons 4, 5, and 6. If you both reset, you will use your 8 prestige score for all 6 dungeons. He will use his 3 prestige score for the first 3, and his score will rise for the next 3. By then, hopefully he can continue to 7, 8, and 9.... and you can move on. In other words, if you plan on replaying a LOT of dungeons (either because there's no new dungeons to play, or you want to play with a lower leveled friend), reset. Otherwise, leave that button alone.

1) No. Bound items become untradeable. A tank is still viable if you're fortunate enough to obtain really nice armor from a boss, and a team member is a capable smith. 2) No. 3) No. More tips: 1) Don't under-estimate potions. They can help you past seemingly impossible obstacles. However, there's a glitch that disables boosted Herblore levels (98/94 Herblore didn't allow me to create a Strong Naturalist Potion). 2) Don't under-estimate magic. The damage scales much better, especially with the Strong Magic Potion yielding 6 + 6% (if the Knowledge Base can be trusted). At level 99, this is a 75% increase in damage... on top of your equipment. This is incredible, particularly in dealing with the many high defense enemies (most warriors are very vulnerable to magic, and nearly impervious to ranged and melee attacks). 3) Play with friends. Lots of friends. It may be slower, but in return, you can access larger dungeons (which means more time to build up and use your equipment), you get much more XP per dungeon, and most importantly, it's more fun. 4) When playing with a group, communicate. It's best if one person holds the money, and one person holds the keys. That saves a lot of confusion. Also, don't try to scout the room if someone else is scouting it - instead, one of you may get sent in, possibly to the boss. 5) Use Gate-Stones liberally. 6) Don't leave good food laying around, take the time to drop it in the main room. You may need it for the boss battle. Remember to use Beasts of Burdens for more food (Healing familiars are generally ineffective). 7) Boss fights aren't straight-forward, be ready for the gimmicks, and try to catch on quickly. Once you figure it out, make sure your team knows too - you don't benefit if your team mates die and suffer huge XP penalties, it will just slow you down later when they can't venture as deep. 8) Don't spend excessive time on resources you don't need. Since armor and money don't carry over, there's no point to get perfect sets of everything. If you think you'll need the armor, make the amount you'll need. If your team is running low on food, then take the time to catch some more. Don't gather every resource just because you can, you likely won't need it all. Particularly with small dungeons. 9) Binded ammunition is replenished after every dungeon. If you can't craft bloods, start out on Complexity 1, and have a team mate give you his or her blood runes. Get 125+, bind them. Now you'll start every dungeon with 125 Blood Runes (I would recommend against using the last one until the consequences are known, so really it's only 124). If you'd prefer to range, get yourself 125 Gorgonite or Promethieum Arrows and bind them.

Hypothetical situation. You have unlocked floors 1 to 8, and you've beaten 1 to 4. Your prestige is 4. If you play level 1 again, your prestige will not change because you've already finished it. Your prestige will not be used since level 1 has been beaten. It's calculated at prestige 0. If you play level 5, your prestige will increase by one since it's a new level. Your prestige will be used at the new value, 5. If you play levels 5 through 7, your prestige will increase by three since that's three new levels. The rewards will be calculated at 5, 6, and 7. Alternatively, if you hit reset, If you play level 1 again, your prestige will increase by 1. However, your fixed prestige (what you reset at) is higher (4), so it calculates your reward at prestige 4. If you play level 5, your prestige will increase by 1. However, your fixed prestige is higher (4), so it calculates your reward at prestige 4. If you play levels 5 through 7, your prestige will increase by three, but since it's still lower than 4, you will calculate all rewards at 4. In other words, use the reset button if you plan on replaying all the previous levels. Do not use the reset button if you plan to play new levels exclusively.

Unfortunately there isn't. If you want though, select a single player dungeon for your two player team. That should change the boss room to only have one carcass... however, just remember that the Gluttonous Beast is the first of many, many bosses. Use Gatestones to escape, stock away food, and try not to waste too much figuring out what's going on.

You don't die. That can't seriously be the only way...[/hide] You reset prestige on the party forming interface. And the other way is to play with more people. With 3 people there are only two carcasses still, so there's some flexibility. But I like my solution better. And er... whoever answered "make a gatestone," how does that solve the problem at all? The problem is someone needs to stand between the monster and the carcass, a way of escaping that's not dying doesn't help. >.< Any more than two people, and the dungeon takes ages to complete... No it doesn't? We were going through fairly quickly, if you don't count Shorty's tendency to go "OMGSTEGGYTHINGY" every time we met one of those trappable things, and spend 5 minutes catching it. Besides, I prefer long dungeons. You get more time to build up your equipment, and you get much more experience to compensate. @3pointman If you think you need multiple players for the light obelisk, you're misunderstanding that challenge. You stand on the pressure pad to hold that light still, and you need all 4 lights to hit the center simultaneously. Just adjust them one at a time... Doesn't work when you have level 100's as your partners... Being level 138, the monsters are still really difficult with a group of weak people, but they never do any damage, so it never helps... A lot of my higher level friends are level like 30 something Dung, so that wont do me any good, either, lol. Did you go into the boss room with plenty of food? My brother and I stash away all the Salve Eels we find on the tables, and I fish more up if necessary (but rarely). If that's still not enough, have you tried Beasts of Burdens with additional food? Healing familiars? If your partner isn't doing enough damage, have you tried making potions?

Can you? My first encounter with this monster was a disaster. When my brother and I finally figured it out, he accidentally stepped out of line, and stepped back into position. That split second was enough for the beast to move through anyways...

No, that's what we've been doing, but if either of us dies and tries to run back in, the thing eats to full HP again. WTF is up with that? Edit: Thanks, killer. Sounds good. That's the point. You have to block the carcasses. If you're dead, you can't block them, so you can't win. So don't die.

= New Chaotic Items =
http://www.runescape.com/kbase/guid/combat_weapon_types This KB page gives a rough idea of how the attack speed system works. Swords are tier 6 attack speed, along with Daggers, Scimitars, Zamorakian Spear, Saradomin Sword, Abyssal Whip, and several others. The in-game rapiers and daggers are both tier 6, but as no one has the Chaotic Rapier yet, we can only guess that it's the same. I assume it's reasonable to guess weapon speeds with the fact that similiar weapons can be used within the dungeon. It's reasonable, but not a sure thing. The Staff of Light is meant to be an advanced Slayer Staff (judging by it's ability to cast Slayer Dart) but is actually tier 5 attack speed while the Slayer Staff is tier 6. Also, for some reason, daggers in Stealing Creation are tier 7 attack speed.

Cheating... Or is it...?
Not a chance. It's near impossible to click nonstop and have that much control/precision over your mouse movements. Less than a second with over 9000 clicks? That's physically impossible. It's a lot easier to do similar to what was shown in the video with mousekeys enabled (one hand hitting 5 on the numpad, and the other just moving the mouse). But with that method, your physically every bit of input. And it takes a few seconds to get through the herbs... This isn't a case of having better hardware. This is literally having hardware do something for you. You can't physically give yourself better frames per second, but you can physically send mouse clicks to the game. And how does hardware alone even do something for you? It needs some kind of software either programming into itself, or the operating system. Over 9000 clicks? Either you're making a lame joke that hasn't been funny for years, or you can't count. As far as I can tell, it's far less than 100 clicks. Now, I'd like to remind you that without having used this mouse in person, we have no idea whether or not it's possible. But, to that ends: http://www.urban75.com/Mag/java7.html That's a simply little game I found while browsing another forum the other day. The topic was just to compare scores. Most scores ranged from as low as 40, to as high as 150. My first score was 95, the second was closer to 100. People can click a lot faster than you think. Now consider that if the buttons are aligned properly, releasing one button (by moving your finger to the side) is the same motion as pressing the second. 28 times per second isn't unreasonable. His mouse control may just be very, very precise. I wouldn't doubt it - I personally could probably manage to move my mouse as demonstrated in the video, at roughly that speed, with enough accuracy to hit every herb. I guess you missed the first word in my reply, so I'll make sure you see it this time: IF By the way? 100 clicks in 10 seconds? You'd have to be be able to pull of 300 clicks per 10 seconds, not to mention be able to precisely move the mouse of the herbs while doing it. And then do it continuously without experiencing any fatigue. I don't know what a G9 does, but that's why I started with that giant word above. If he is sending every bit of input, then it's legal. But if he's hitting a button that activates a series of commands, that's no different than me writing a script and hitting a button my keyboard telling it to the same. ... IF My apologies. I started reading from underneath the quote so I missed the entire first paragraph. My mistake.

Starcraft 2
StarCraft 2 is anything but slow :P BTW, anyone know any good Zerg build against a standard marine + marauder rush that doesn't involve roaches? I tried some variations of baneling builds, but I'm not so great at micro'ing them (they seem quite intent at suiciding directly). Infestors/Lings/BLings works well. If you can get to Brood Lords, Brood Lords/Lings works well, get hydras if it looks like they're going to have Vikings too.

Cheating... Or is it...?
The question has been answered. If the player in the video wasn't lying when he explained how he did it (I choose to believe him, it's your choice whether you do or not), then he is not cheating. However, I don't recommend buying the mouse however, it's likely we may see the mechanics of herb cleaning and bolt fletching changed. Or possibly a revamp of a rule long needing a rewrite...
-
Cheating... Or is it...?
I'm sure all of the people saying, 'This is bad / bannable / cheating,'' wouldn't use that fkey on your new keyboard that makes you complete all quests and get 2376 total if they had it...They're all good little angels. See what I did there? Also a question to you: Would using a program that spams 500 click/sec upon pressing an fkey be illegal while a mouse that does the same isn't? Yes/no answer please. No. The word "while" implies two statements, one conditional upon the other. Because the second statement is the first condition to be considered, and the answer is unclear, the answer to the question as a whole is no. Assuming you meant two separate questions, "Is a program that spams 500 clicks/second upon pressing a key illegal?" The answer is yes. Other software is clearly prohibited by the rule. "Is a mouse that performs the same function permissible?" The answer depends. According to the rule, the way it is written, no. Using such a mouse would still constitute a violation because of the necessary drivers. However, as many players have attested, common sense dictates that Jagex does not intend for us to play without mouses. However, Jagex's intent is also unclear, which is the point of this discussion. So instead of trying to over-simplify something that's not so simple, why don't you accept it for what it is? Jagex's rule isn't clear. This is an undeniable fact, as there are people confused about the rule. Period.

Actually, it's +40, which is then doubled to +80. Which is why I added the 40 before doubling. Excuse me for assuming Jagex would not intentionally post misleading information. ;)

Fire Surge = 280 (according to the Knowledge Base) 15% + 21% + 15% = 51% 280 * 1.51 = 422.8 422.8 + 40 (Fire Cape applied after % boosts, assumption since that's how Ferocious Ring works) = 462.8 462.8 * 2 = 925.6 If each bonus is applied separately, thus stacking them for greater effect, 280 * 1.15 * 1.15 * 1.21 = 448.063 448.03 + 40 = 488.03 488.03 * 2 = 976.06 This is strange, since when I tried it, I hit a 980 too... but it seems both of our max hits are impossible according to the number's Jagex gave us. o.O
